    I have a virgin media 3.0 hub, which is rubbish. I tried 2 other repeater/extenders that were no good.
    This Netgear was the easiest to set up and had the best results.
    Works for both 5 and 2.4 ghz.
    The VM support (lol) were useless, giving me conflicting lies as to how their pod would work for me. Its worth spending the and getting this one.

    I now have 3 of these around the house. It works but really slows down through walls etc. the range isn’t quite as good as I expected or would like. However, I am buying a fourth to extend to an outside gym. They do the job, just not quite as well as I would like and obviously trickle electricity from every point they are plugged in.

    Easy to set up as a unified SSID across the house. We put it half way between the study and the main router.

    Problematic when walking around the house as the weaker signal router continues to be in connection giving poor performance and then suddenly switches to closest router. People walking between the router and where you are working mess with the mesh.

    Eventually changed the name of the SSID’s so we can see and choose what we are connected too.

    Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersNot often the description of a product gets excelled by its use but this booster is a beast! My Virgin cable broadband is the second fastest they offer but it simply didn’t cover our bungalow and gave out a very poor signal and trying to get Virgin to help is just a joke.

    So read a few reviews about a few boosters/extenders and choose this Netgear product, not the cheapest nor the dearest but it is an amazing fantastic product and I would recommend it to anyone on Virgin WiFi should they be struggling and would imagine it work’s fantastic on any WiFi. I can now watch Prime movies at the far end of the garden seamlessly.

    For those who reviewed the product saying it was difficult to install, I would suggest you read the instructions the right way up! This simply plugged in next to the Virgin box powered up went green and I pressed both WPS buttons and it connected within 60seconds, and that was not using any instructions. Moved the extender and have not had any problems since.

    Using the wps key the device was easy to set up. Once logged into the device the wifi signal was significantly boosted to all the rooms in the house and even to the bottom of my garden which is why I bought it in the first place. Previously I had a wifi signal in the order of 1 or 2 Mbps or often non at all in my garden; now my signal is around 70 – 100 Mbsp.

    I bought this a my virgin media extender stopped working. I have this in my shed at the top of my garden some 25 metres from the router and it is brilliant works my laptop, firestick and bose speaker all at the same time no buffering.
    Would highly recommend. Don’t dislike anything as of yet.

    Super bit of kit. Plug the device in near your existing router, download Nighthawk app, connect to the device’s wifi, open the app, a few clicks, and its up and running. Then just move it where you want. Ours is installed in an outbuilding, quite a way from the main house and get good strong signal.

    I live in house that is horribly WiFi unfriendly. The underfloor heating blocks WiFi signals to a huge degree. My solution is to have one of these on the landing outside the office to pick up signal from the router which is in the office, and a second one on the second floor landing to pick and relay the signal from the first.
    This setup, while a little complicated, works fairly well. I contrived that the link from the router to the first repeater, and from the first to the second repeater would be at 5HGz, while clients connect using the 2.4 GHz band. To do this I had to make several changes to the default settings but at the end of the day my daughter is happy with her ability to use YouTube, NetFlix and Tiktok. She can also use her laptop to do her homework, but she is less happy with that…

    Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersMy security camera in the back had poor WiFi connection so I got this extender. I’ve used Netgear before and knew they were tricky to set up but it’s taken 3 hours. Connecting it to my WiFi router using the WPS button worked but when I moved the device all the lights went out. My advice – give it 10 minutes and they come back on. I downloaded the app which kept stalling but I finally managed to get back to the first screen where you can test WiFi speed and check the router is online.

    I couldn’t connect any devices to the extender WiFi because there wasn’t a Netgear option. Basically it uses the same name as my WiFi router making it very confusing. I knew the extender was working because I plugged in the laptop with an ethernet cable and got internet so it was frustrating.

    You have to set up both a Netgear and a Nighthawk account and when I finally decided to call it a night the app showed 4 devices had connected to the extender.

    My camera is now showing 3 bars WiFi instead of 1 bar which is great. I am pleased to have the option to use a cable to connect devices if I need to. I like to think having the device will be better than not having it. But the support pages on the internet were confusing and links didn’t work.

    In summary I recommend you get an IT savvy pal to help and give yourself lots of time, but this seems to have offered me some connection improvement.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s easy to set up however it doesn’t amplify Mbps as much as I would have hoped but it does improve signal strength. Depending on use this is most important bit.

    I positioned mine one floor above router, one room along and I connect to the extension from a room further along. I can connect to the router from that room but my wifi signal was -70 or worse. What’s the difference? Well bandwidth is no faster going through the extender in fact it is actually slower routing through the extender than connecting to the main hub BUT wifi signal is much stronger. For my use that’s the most important bit connecting VOIP over Skype etc. I may not be getting more bandwidth (less in fact) bit I still get enough, however the stronger signal is making voice quality when WFH is much better.

    If you are wanting fast bandwidth this might not be for you, if you want crisper signal / reception then this will work well.

    As for devices switching router > extender > router as I walk around the house this does seem to work well for mobiles but my laptop does need a manual disconnect and reconnect, might be that it is better holding a weaker signal.

    Worth the money? Probably. Still expensive though IYAM.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUPDATE: I’ve now had this for 9 months, when it works its great but very regularly a light goes red and it needs to be set up again which is not a straightforward process. You log onto a Web page or the app and then run into constant issues eg whilst setting up it disconnects the extender momentarily and then tells me it can’t continue sertup because I’m not connected(!). My partner works off the router in another room and has been fine so this is an extender issue. After spending a lot of money on this, I am now buying another one. What a waste of money. If you want a simple solution that doesn’t take hours off your working week to repeatedly set up, don’t get this.

    I’ve had this for one day. It started off fine and then kept disconnecting even in good range of the router. Now it won’t reconnect. UPDATED I’ve now had this for a few days. I re-paired it with the router and logged into it online (which only worked on my apple phone, not Samsung). Firmware was fine (sometimes an issue) but needed to go through some checks on the website. Since then it has been perfect and not interrupted signal.

    Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI’ve waited a month to give this a review as I wanted to see the performance over a decent amount of time.

    Context
    I live in a two storey flat and the router is located downstairs in the living room. The living room is on the bottom floor on one side of the flat and there are two rooms upstairs but on the other side of the flat. Therefore as the signal currently is needed to both go upstairs and to the opposite side of the flat, it really struggles.
    In fact it struggles so badly that it turns my 200mbs speed downstairs into just 8mbps upstairs.

    Setup
    Therefore after reading dozens of reviews on the mesh version, I decided to try it out. The setup seemed easy at first but it didn’t work using the wps button. So I had to redo it using my laptop. Overall took about 10mins. My router is dual bandwidth (2.4ghz and 5ghz).

    Performance
    In a 4 bedroom flat with several people using the internet simultaneously, this holds up admirably. I’ve only ever seen a red light once. It’s mostly all blue lights with the occasional orange but it works mostly perfectly regardless. The signal can get dodgy but that’s only really happened once and it quickly sorted itself out. Streaming Netflix or YouTube in 4k is a breeze. Gaming online is easy. Download speeds are maintained at an average of 170mbps upstairs which is amazing.
    We’ve got a Sky Q UHD multiscreen system, 3 smart TVs, a PS4, a PS3, an Xbox, a couple tablets and several smartphones all hooked up to this router and it really copes so well.
    I’ve ensured that there is a good balance between which device uses the 2.4ghz channel and the 5ghz channel. Perhaps that is the key to keeping everything running smoothly.

    I haven’t needed to use the tech support but I’m glad about that as I’m told they’re not very helpful. All in all I’d recommend this product and if anything changes with the performance I’ll be sure to update this review.

It has boosted my wifi by a lot compared to my previous netgear extender AC750 EX6100 which I had to replace because my little boy kept pulling at the antennas. Note, it is very large, but feels sturdy in the wall socket. I can only give it 4 stars, as it doesn’t have the Access Point option, which would be find for most people, and for me in the location I needed it, but I would have bought another one if it did have an AP option to use instead of my Sky Hub’s wifi which is rubbish (no 5G band). The model one down from this has AP but isn’t tri-band and the model above isn’t a wall-plug unit. It’s rather pricey, but all netgear products seem to be more expensive than they were a few years ago. It took a good few minutes to connect via WPS, it failed a few times, but I may have been a bit impatient by moving it to the desired location before it had fully completed it pairing. Also, for some reason it had dropped the 2.4G band after about a week, but I managed to fix that by logging into it via a PC. I think that issue was caused by me setting up all my routers to have the same SSID and assigning specific channels to avoid interence and create near seamless roaming around the house. By logging into it via a PC highlighted that it needed a firmware update which only took a couple of minutes to do. The LEDs on the unit are extermely bright, which may be an issue for some people, but you can turn all but the power light LED off in the settings.
