I bought this backpack after having used a high sierra hiking backpack from Costco for years. It wasn’t until I went into REI to get properly measured that I’d realized I was using an improperly fitted backpack and found this. The Osprey tempest is a women’s cut hiking backpack. I never realized how well a properly fitted pack would be until I got this. For reference I am 5’2″ with a torso length of 14 inches so I bought the XS size. The backpack is very comfy and lightweight. It’s easy to adjust the straps to fit snugly against my body. I will say I have always loved Osprey. They make really high quality backpacks and are backed by warranty in case there’s issues. To be fair though, my other Osprey I’ve had for YEARS and never felt the need to contact them for problems. The backpack does have a waist strap with pockets which kind of fit my Samsung S21 but honestly it barely fits in there. It’s more of a struggle tj try to tuck it in there but it’s doable. The bladder pocket as many others have noted is tight, but it’s not necessarily unusable. I was able to fit a 2L Hydrapak bladder in with some effort. I think you’re best bet would be to put the bladder in first before you start packing your bag. There’s a nice helmet lock on the outside of the pack which frankly I don’t use much except to attach my hat if I bring one hiking. All in all I would say this backpack is fantastic if you want a light, small backpack for a day hike. It’s not meant for backpacking as the XS is only 18L but it will definitely fit all your essentials.

Also carry my lunch and portable bluetooth speaker it's tight in the backpack but I wanted the bag because I'm a fan of Hawkeye of Avengers and Osprey is a bird and thats why I got it. I like how the features are super functional . It was comfortable and fit everything I needed. I took it on several day hikes in the alps where I needed changes of clothes and jackets
Great hiking bag with correct sizing
I love the bag, but I bought the XS/S based off the Osprey sizing guide on the Osprey site and was too small. I’m 5 feet 0 inches, 130 lbs. I also bought the M/L size and it was a better fit. It says the sizing is based off your height but I think it does matter how petite you are. For me personally the shoulder straps felt a little too snug around on either side of my neck and around the shoulders. I will be returning the XS/S and keeping the M/L.
With that said, I absolutely recommend and love the Tempest 20. I love that it has two places for trekking poles, a front mesh pocket, side pockets, and my 3 litter water reservoir fits.
Loved this backpack as it's the only one that really fit my very short torso well. I also liked the features and the color. Unfortunately, I needed one that was bigger and had to return it. The 30L version didn't fit me.

I have the men’s Talon 22. It fits great and is very functional. I bought the Women’s Talon 20 for my best friend and she loves it too.

This pack was a great fit for my 5’ 2” body. The back piece keeps things from poking in the back and the waist & chest straps distribute the weight. I love the side pockets on the waist strap. The zipper pulls are great and the straps all adjust easily. It would be nice if the shoulder straps were a bit thicker, but I guess that’s typical for these smaller (20 liter) packs. My biggest complaint is the water pockets. They just don’t hold bottles well and I can’t reach them with the pack in place. Otherwise this is a super pack. I recently used on a trip to Spain and if needed it does fit u dear the seat.

I ordered this backpack to use for day hikes in Iceland in July because I knew that the weather there could be varying from “CA summer” to “MN winter” within a day 🙂
This backpack absolutely rocked in terms of capacity and comfort; particularly I was very impressed with the back ventilation.
I also used it as my personal item on both international and European domestic flights without any issues. While I wished it had a carry-on handle sleeve, I was able to use backpack straps to secure it to my carry-on.

I’m pleased with my purchase. I did a lot of research before I got this one and I saw it in person in a shop on Piccadilly Street. It can take a lot but doesn’t feel heavy. The waist belt support is key for its reliability and not worrying when trekking on more extreme/ off road terrain. I used it in Norway so definitely not a walk in the park sort of hike!
Gut durchdachter Rucksack für Fraue
Wegen einem Bandscheibenvorfall der Halswirbelsule suchte ich einen Rucksack, der gut auf den Schultern sitzt und vom Beckengurt mit gesttzt wird, das habe ich mit diesem Rucksack erreicht. Wanderungen ber 5 Stunden ohne Beschwerden, den Rucksack kann ich nur empfehlen.
I did a lot of research prior to buying this pack, even went to an outdoors store to try it on with a full load. This pack fits well, is well made, and has all the right compartments and features.

Dieser Rucksack ersetzt meinen ca. 15 Jahre alten Vaude Roomy. Die Staukapazitt ist fr Tagestouren oder fr den Alltag super. Nicht zu gro und nicht zu klein. Die Verarbeitung ist saubern und die verwendeten Materialien sind hochwertig.
Es gibt jedoch ein paar kleine Dinge, die mich persnlich stren. Die kleine Reiverschlusstasche oben am Rucksack ist wirklich sehr brauchbar, allerdings ist an ihr im inneren die Netzreiverschlusstasche befestigt. Wenn ich also recht viel in die von aussen zugngliche Tasche flle, nimmt mir das irgendwie den Stauraum in der Netztasche.
Mir persnlich gefllt auch nicht so gut, dass das Fach fr die Trinkblase ausserhalb des Hauptfaches zwischen Rckenteil und Innenfach liegt. Eine gefllte Trinkblase da rein zu bekommen ist nmlich keinesfalls so einfach, wie es in der Beschreibung suggeriert wird.
Ich habe jedes mal etwas Angst, dass ich beim “reindrcken” der Trinkblase irgendwie den Schlauch nicht mehr richtig an ihr befestigt habe. Zudem muss ich oben die beiden kleinen Feststellgurte komplett lsen, um die Trinkblase berhaupt in das Rckenfach zu bekommen. Dadurch, dass das hhenverstellbare Rckenteil ebenfalls in dem Fach ist, ist das ganze in diesem Bereich extrem starr und da muss man die Trinkblase dran vorbei bekommen. Das geht nur mit krftigen Drcken und Quetschen. Vielleicht geht es mit der originalen Trinkblase des Herstellers besser. Meine von Camelback und einem anderen Hersteller gehen schwer da rein.
Ich empfehle die Trinkblase zuerst in dem Fach zu verstauen und dann das vordere Fach zu packen. Wenn das nmlich schon gepackt ist, wird es noch schwieriger. Ich htte da doch lieber ein abgetrenntes innenliegendes Fach mit einem groen Reiverschluss gehabt.
Leider ist auch kein Regenschutz mit dabei. Das Material an sich ist zwar wasserabweisen und bei krzeren Regenfllen auch dicht genug, aber bei strkerem Regen empfiehlt es sich einen Schutz zu kaufen. Schade, bei dem Preis finde ich, sollte der dabei sein.
Die kleinen Taschen an den Hftgurten sind super. Es passt wirklich viel da rein, sogar ein groes Smartphone.
Meine Trekkingstcke lassen sich sehr gut am Rucksack befestigen, wobei ich dafr die “Eispickelbefestigen” auf der Rckseite des Rucksacks nutze, weil ich vorne die Schlaufe dazu nutze meine Gopro mit Stick whrend der Wanderung aufzubewahren. Die brauche ich meistens fter, als die Stcke 🙂
Die Seitenfcher bieten ebenfalls jede Menge Stauraum, ebenso das offene Rckenfach an der Aussenseite.
Man kann den Rucksack gut auf seine Rckenlnge einstellen. Er ist auch bei mehrstndigen Touren sehr gut zu tragen und geht schn mit. Die Trger schneiden nicht ein, der Rcken ist auch gut beflftet. Am Brustgurt ist noch eine kleine Notpfeiffe in den Verschluss integriert.
Das Positive an dem Rucksack berwiegt und deshalb bleibt er und wird mich in Zukunft auf meinen Wanderungen begleiten.

Qualità e leggerezza osprey
Zaino veramente molto leggero e ben fatto, qualit tipica di osprey, preso per il trekking ma anche da usare per i viaggi. Mi piacciono molto le tasche sulla cintura in vita, ci entra un iPhone! L’interno capiente e ha varie tasche per piccoli oggetti. Unica pecca manca un rain cover che va comprato a parte. Pagato 109 a giugno 2022. Fate attenzione alla taglia perch c sia xs-s che m-L e varia in base alla lunghezza del torso. In ogni caso lo schienale ha uno strap che regola la lunghezza! Consigliato ed il prezzo inferiore rispetto al sito osprey!
Good little pack. I used it for 10 consecutive days hiking the Highlands. Comfortable. Pockets on waistband good size and useful. Side pockets are big enough for larger bottles, and you can grab your bottle on the go. Mesh pocket on back useful for wet rain gear etc. The ‘airscape’ back – they have yet to invent the perfect pack that will not give you a sweaty back if you’re working hard enough…that said, this is probably as good as it gets.
Downsides – the pole storage is stupid. In theory a good idea, but practically its very uncomfortable and annoying. The back mesh pocket is however big enough for my Z folding poles – I just push it in there (I can grab the poles in the back mesh pocket when walking but need to stop to put them back in). This pack does not come with a rain cover, it needs one – even in a drizzle inside was wet. (I have had more waterproof packs). But besides those two downsides, overall its a comfortable pack and I will continue to use.
This pack is designed for women and it is absolutely brilliant. A perfect fit with nice comfortable straps and non sweaty back. I carried good and drinks up Snowden and hardly noticed I had the pack on my back. Plenty of room for my jacket and spare socks too

dj utilisateur pour homme de sac osprey, Mme avait un sac d autre marque, et bon, elle adore, lger, simple, pratique, le dos respire super bien, et en plus couleur trs fminine, a conseiller fortement pour toutes personnes es qui souhaitent un sac facile, solide, a utiliser en randonne journe, en balade de dcouvertes en ville , ou pour faire du vlo, ou partir la salle de sport , bref de l escapade a la vie quotidienne, certes c est un cot, rien n est gratuit mm la mauvaise qualit, alors oui nous conseillons forteme
