Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDid not use as my internet provider had insisted I needed special phones to connect to full fibre. This is wrong. Any phone will connect. So after changing to a supplier who knew what they were taking about I used my old phones

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI got this phone for my mother-in-law, who is a technophobe! I have always had Panasonic cordless answer phones, so I knew that these were easy to set up (I had to do that!) and easy to use.

The answerphone arrived neatly packaged and was simple to set up. I added all the quick dial numbers in a matter of minutes and then personalised the phone with the ringtone and volume that she wanted.

This is an updated model to the Panasonic answerphone that I have, but it’s pretty similar. I have had my phone for a few years now, and it’s not the first Panasonic one that I have had, so I know that this is a good phone. I think the price is fair and next time I, or any of my family, need an answer phone Panasonic would be our first choice.

The handset isn’t easy to slide into the base unit. You could easily miss it if in a hurry and it could end up falling off onto the floor and breaking. Apart from that seems like a decent phone and easy to setup.

Easy to get set up within a few minutes. Good choice of ringtones and settings. Handset has loudspeaker but I can’t say I’ve tried using the base if it has this feature! Voicemail is easy to set up and use to listen back to messages. The buttons aren’t the biggest so if you’re buying for someone with issues with their vision I’d suggest a different handset.

Bought as a basic landline, not my primary phone so does the job needed. Menus are not especially intuitive but for me, it’s just a backup phone so not especially bothered by that.

After trying various brands of cordless phones over the years, we eventually settled on Panasonic. Unlike previous brands we had over the years, the batteries last a long time in the Panasonic and the sound quality is very good, like from a corded phone. I also like that telephone entries and clock sync between the handsets. On a multi-pack Panasonic set at my workplace, the intercom feature and transfer feature is also very useful, making a low cost replacement to a small PBX system that died. We don’t use the answer phone feature, so unable to comment on it.

I bought this to replace an existing same model Panasonic cordless base at home as the power supply stopped working after a thunderstorm. I tried various compatible 5V and 6V power supplies on the old base, but kept getting buzzing noises on the line. A genuine matching power supply would have cost almost as much as this single handset unit, so decided to get this just in case the buzzing was due to lightning damaging the base unit. However, when I tried the power supply from this new base on the old base, there was no buzzing noise, confirming Panasonic uses a non-standard power supply. On the other hand, as this is the same base model, it meant I could pair the existing phones with this base, giving us an additional handset.
