Bought this for my Grandson he was over the moon with it as he wasn’t looking for one.
Overall, it’s nice. The pieces all fit snugly as they should, board folds and locks. The magnetic aspect is nice. One quarrel (and I know this is probably the same for all boards of this price range) the pieces aren’t uniform – some of the etchings are a bit off, notably on the knights but yeah, if you aren’t looking that closely its perfect.
Nothing to dislike, it was delivered promptly, the chess pieces are easily identified, & it all can be packed away safely, when not in use.
I brought this set as a gift for a friend. Beautiful set. Pieces were bigger then I imagined them to be. Friend is chuffed to bits with it. Really impressed.
I was honestly surprised!
The pieces are slightly magnatized meaning they don’t fall over (unless you pick the board up and shake it).
Wood work was good, not perfect but it added a little rustic feeling to it. The board also folds in half to store easy, the inside of the board also have a nice velvety material and a place for each piece to go meaning that they won’t rattle and won’t bang off eachother when they are packed away meaning no noise and no un wanted damage.
Bought for my adult son for Christmas, he is really pleased with it. Looks really nice.

Eventhough there are magnets in it it does not seem cheap
The felt at the base muffles the sound of the pieces on the board which makes it seem better quality than it is

This chess set was on my grandaughters xmas list. I Recieved on time and it came well packed. Both my husband and I thought that it was a very nice learner chess set for 10 year old. It looks well made and the chess pieces are secured in individual places within the chess board. The chess pieces are also protected with velvety lining. the chess pieces and board looking feel well made. I am pleaded to give this as a gift to my grandaughter at xmas.

Bought it to teach my daughter to play chess. She loved it. Well made, sturdy, right weight. Doesnt take too much space to store it and has a bag, easy to take it traveling. Magnets work perfectly and figures stay on the board.
Extremely well designed and sturdy pieces. The magnetic board is not too strong and felt bottom makes moving the pieces feel very smooth. A bit expensive, but worth the price.
Purchased for my grandaughter as she wanted to learn how to play chess. It was as described and is very sturdy. What i liked is the fact that it folds in half and can be stored away quite easy
I like the finish of the chessboard and the pieces. It’s good value for money. Only flaw I could find was that the magnets are not too strong on the pieces as I was expecting.
Great introductory set and good size. Not too big and not too Small. Purchased for Son. Magnetic pieces work really well and handy since I have a 2 year old who loves to knock into everything. 🙂

My only negative comment would be regarding the checkers pieces, which seem a bit too small in relation to the size of the squares on the board when playing draughts. I found they take some getting used to. Also, while there does seem to be a small magnet inside each of these small pieces, it’s effectiveness on the board surface is negligible. Still fun to play with, and it’s really hard to find a legitimate complaint at this price.
I haven’t opened the little pack of dice yet, but they seem to have a nice weight to them. Not light and flimsy like you would find in other cheap sets.
I bought this set primarily for chess, and the chess pieces are of incredible quality. They appear to be based on classic Staunton style pieces, and are very traditional in their appearance. The plastic is great quality, with near-perfect finishes and no sharp edges. The pieces are a nice size too, comparable with mainstream tournament sets I would say, and the magnetic bases do a great job of securing the pieces to the board, even with the board folded as shown in the product images. The pieces stay firmly attached, even if the board is jolted. The fabric on the bases allows for smooth sliding of pieces without risk of scratching or increased wear and tear. These pieces seem to be quite tough and durable, and should last for many years of enthusiastic play.
Finally, the board comes folded in a neatly packed box with an information card, booklet of box contents and care instructions, and a sheet of maths learning stickers for kids. The little net drawstring bags are great for the playing pieces, but not really necessary if you don’t want to use them. That said, i’m sure they go some way to preventing the pieces from rattling around inside the box during transportation.
In summary, i’m really pleased with this set. There are entry level “club” sets out there for around 80, yet I picked up this top quality 3-in-1 set for less than 20. Absolute bargain!
This was a surprisingly great product for the price. We are really pleased with it, would expect to pay a lot more. Magnets work well and all stored away nicely.
For my grandson 9. After searching long and hard for durable well made travel set that wasn’t too expensive- I gave up on the ” wooden ones which seemed flimsy and badly finished. Very delighted with this set as is strong looks great and everything works – magnetic, good sized pieces and case clip closes well. Should stand up to much child handling ok
