Does what it says on the tin, it’s a dumbbell you lift it, you gain muscle. Unlike other dumbbells it doesn’t seem to be coated with oil so you don’t have to wash it. Only downside is the lack of sizes, the page says 5 Kg 12.5 Kg, etc. But the option to order these sizes seems to be missing which means you’ll have to get them from somewhere else.

At the time of writing this a10 Kg set is 69.99 pounds, which seems reasonable for something you’ll end up using for years.

 

These PHYSKCAL 10kgs Dumbells sets are solid; the material is strong, appears of decent quality.

The coating of NBR and PVC poly material is thick and durable, perfect for my needs, don’t scratch my laminate floor, and because of their hexagon shape, they don’t roll when I store them under the bed.

The handle is chrome plated, the diamond texture has a firm and comfortable grip, even without GYM gloves.

Overall, as lovely as this is, I do feel it is a little overpriced for what it is at 69.99(on 31/12/2021), but I’m sure the price will adjust over the coming weeks.

First things first and the most important part with any weight lifting gear, the weight is pretty close to the marked weights and are also within 6 grams of each other. One of the weights is 7.582 kg and the other one weighs 7.576 kg, which for a stamped weight of 7.5 kg is pretty close, the most critical part is that they weigh the same, rather than exactly matching the expected weight as long as it’s close enough. The weight is well-balanced on the handle so it doesn’t pull toward either side at all, making them very comfortable to use.

They come well packaged in a very sturdy cardboard box, the walls are double thick and each of the dumbbells are protected from knocking into each other during shipping. There is a printed poster with some example exercises, but I would recommend doing some actual research into proper dumbbell usage to avoid any injuries and the like.

They are easy to grip, the handles don’t get excessively slippy at all with sweat palms. The hexagon shape makes it so that they won’t roll around and possibly trip you up at all. The rubber covering feels hard wearing and helps to reduce damage and noise when dropped during workouts. There is a faint smell when you first open the packaging, which is to be expected. It’s not horrible, and it will lessen after being aired out for a little while. Your hands can stink a bit until you wash them after using them when they are fairly new.

Overall these are excellent examples of dumbbells, the price is a fair bit higher than some other brands at the same weights which would be the only negative about this product to be honest, but some cheaper sets can be a bit hit or miss with the quality, so the extra cost here buys you the reassurance of a product without defects that is finished to a high standard.

 

Why spend this much on dumbbells? Design and ergonomics, essentially. Compared to the just-as-heavy cheap sets you can get, these are a frustration-free experience. The hexagonal shape means they don’t roll across the floor and get underfoot (you can use them as very effective doorstops, or strapped to photographic lighting stands outdoors for stability) and the metal hand hold is curved and comfortable with a good grip. These are easily as good as the pro gear I’ve used in the gym.

Seriously, though, unlike other dumbbells these are truly multipurpse. Because they don’t roll and are covered in tough, hardwearing but still ‘soft’ material rather than metal or brittle, sharp-edged plastic, they can be used as stops, wedges, weights for windbreaks or lighting gear. They’re finished nicely enough to carry in the car (suitably secured, but they don’t roll about) and given you probably don’t spend all day just doing dumbbell exercises, the extra usefulness of the shape means they’re more than just dead weight hanging about the house.

Not particularly cheap, but a professional finish. Minimal exercise guide is included, some of which will do you an injury if you just fly into them, so the professional air is also backed up by the ‘you already know what you’re doing’ packaging and presentation.

I’m impressed. They comfortable enough to want to use daily, look good, and are intelligently designed.

 

At just short of 57 (at the time of this review) these dumbbells look to be quite expensive, however they are very well made and they do ‘look the part’. They have a rubberised coating which will protect your floors and their hexagonal shape will mean that they won’t roll about when you put them down. The grip is excellent due to the milled metal portion, which are good if you don’t like to wear gloves and have sweaty hands. I’m happy to recommended these.

It’s good that these dumbbells have a good texture on the handles, that even with sweaty palms, you could maintain a firm grip on them, making for a safe workout session.

The hexagon shape stops it from rolling away from you, so you could also use this while doing push-ups. It looks sleek and masculine.

A good set of dumbbells to have in any home gym. The only concern I have is that alloy steel has a large amount of iron, so I would advise against using harsh chemicals or bleach to clean these—still a good product.
