Slightly Damaged Box On Arrival, But Game Is Grea
Slight indentation on top of box when arrived, but the game is good fun. Works for the full range of player numbers in my opinion. Best to set up before people arrive to play as it takes a bit of time. But worth it. Big box so easier for home games.
Excellent game!
As a general rule, I hate boardgames. Especially boardgames that appear overly complicated with pages and pages of rules to read.
BUT…. this game is really great.
We’ve played it four times now, and only ‘won/survived’ once. It’s challenging, but that’s what makes it compelling to play again and again.
Highly recommend.
Fun and quite fas
The rules are relatively easy, gameplay can be quite fast and it’s fun. Got it just today, opened the box and loved that Jonesy has a miniature alien in the reflections of it’s eyes. Two of us played three rounds after familiarizing ourselves with the rulebook. We beat the game 2:1. It wasn’t difficult but can we see how it can be challanging. Board and miniatures quality is Ravensburger level. Got it on a sale, it was a steal! Love it as it can be a nice addition to game nights with friends.
Massive fun and great customer suppo
First of all, the game is very fun and challenging, with bonus points for Alien franchise fans. It took us a few turns before we got the hang of it, but it was entertaining all throughout. We’ve played only as 3, but I can imagine it being even more fun with more players. Once you get the hang of it, I feel that adding Ash into the mix is a must. I don’t think we’ve won any run with Ash on the board, but it was still amazingly fun.
As a side note, I’d like to mention that their customer support is amazing. Our game box was missing the Dallas placard, and instead we had a duplicate Brett placard. Even though Brett is one of my favourites, I’ve emailed their customer support services asking whether they have a spare Dallas to replace our missing one, and sure enough within a week or two, they’ve posted it and now we have all of them.
All in all, great build quality, great fun and great customer support.
Amazing game
Easy to play and so much fun trying to get off the nostromo, bought as a gift for a family member who loves the alien franchise. Cant wait to buy the second one to continue the journey
Atmospheric and great fu
Rules seem complex at first, but once we played the first game as a test, they fall into place. We found that you really have to work as a team. Bringing ‘Ash’ into the game as an option adds another dimension. Really good and the board and pieces are high quality
Absolutely NOT just a lackluster game with “Alien” slapped on it for gimmick based sales. Actually challenging, REALLY high quality figures/cards/board, and tonnes of replay value. A must-have for any fan of the franchise. If you’ve played Pandemic before then there’s a good amount of familiarity in the rules, and it’s about the same difficulty level.
Great boardgame with elements of luck, jeopardy, risk, and strategy. Played it over Christmas and New Year with my sons, and we all loved it. A must for fans of the original movie.
A good game recreating the film in ways, there’s the need for making the correct moves to complete the games tasks. Enjoyable for one to more players. A recommended purchase for all Alien fans. No two play through will be The same as a random card sets The objectives for each game. Most enjoyable idea. The only down side is the figures in my copy, they are good but not great. For those interested there are other manufacturers of the Alien crew in metal or resin.
Tricky at firs
It was tricky at first, however it was quiet exciting we managed to complete our missions and just stopped the craft from blowing up! Felt my blood pressure rise as the alien got close.
Fun and more Fu
Massive Alien fan so is my son. Loved this game played it when his Gs game around. Loved it. I like the idea you have to plan, discuss your tactics. Keep the brain working while you are enjoying yourself. So put your phone down, get off Facebook or whatever, gab this game. Brilliant.
Just played this with my sons and their friend. It was excellent to get them working together to an end game. They had to meet injections and communicate effectively whilst discussing strategy. They played it three times in quick succession and are keen to play again. We’ll worth the price and excellent quality. Would like more objective and final mission cards though for more variety.
As a lover of anything horror related and a huge fan of the alien series this was a must buy!
All the game play rules were very easy to pick up and with the two difficulties makes for some interesting challenges.
The different objectives and slight randomness of the ones you can get definitely makes for varied play throughs.
The fact that you can play it solo as well is a huge bonus.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great fu
Bought for my husband it took a while getting the hand of it but we really enjoy playing i
Played this for the first time today.
Four player game – we all absolutely loved it.
When I read the rules I thought it’d be a a bit dry with none of the characters ever gettting killed by the Alien – but that was not the case.
The game plays so well – just when you think you’ve got it beat it turns the tables on you – and if you get off to a bad start you can turn it round later.
Can’t recommend this game enough.
Also – there were parts missing – just the plastic stands for Ash and the Alien. Emailed Ravensburger and they posted them to me – brilliant customer service.
Let’s start with the good, this game is tense. Once you get to grips with the rules, this game is tense. Especially when you get to final mission. Just finished a game where the alien kept making us scamper in all directions when we are at “blow up the ship phase”, with Ash in the picture too they both screwed us up. As a group we were laughing at how unlucky we were.
Also, the game is fast paced and you can play it alone. With as many characters as you like in play.
The cardboard parts are strong and well printed. The plastic miniatures are amazing, especially the alien one. They are of good enough quality to paint if you are that way inclined.
Now the bad: this is a bugger to learn. Note this rule: Morale is only affected if you meet the Alien. This rule is not clear until you read the rules 3 or 4 times.
Also, there are a lot of spelling and grammar errors. Oof, there was something we had to google for to understand. When you encounter it, you’ll know what I mean.
These slight issues (once you get past them) can impact the game, but be patient with it. You will be rewarded with some fun time.
5.0 out of 5 stars Alien in a box
Quick setup and take down, easy and fun to play.
The board itself is nicely printed as are all the tokens and cards, I have no complaints about any of those.
The instructions could be a mite clearer on some issues, but after one botched play-through we realised our mistakes.
The models are as mentioned elsewhere a little cheap and flimsy and it’s not currently possible to get direct replacements. Potentially from a 3D printing service, but then you’re stacking costs.
Once we got into the rhythm of the game it worked really well. All 5 of us planning and coordinating to complete objectives and escape. We managed to do so with a single space left on the Crew Morale tracker, really tense stuff when we were forced to place concealed tokens on every room and then backtrack to complete the extra mission.
For the cost against the fun we had, I’d say it was worth it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to learn, very (re)playable, strongly thematic.
Excellent product overall. But the Alien miniature figure is fragile: one of the arms detached at first use.
Very fun game, all parts are good quality , even has a cool alien figurine
Great game, well thought out. Easy to set up and play is simple. I loved the fact that you can play solo. Every scenerio seems to be different. It’s always you or your team against the Alien. So far, it’s 15-2 in the Alien’s favour. Yet to play it with the Ash character involved but I believe it will make it even harder. If you love these sort of games, Alien (it follows the film/book well) then this is a must have.
If you’re in to board games and/or Alien then you’ll love this game. It’s really easy to learn and can be played solo or played solo using more than 1 character if you wish. It’s very true to the film Alien from the art on the board game itself right down to the equipment and cards used in the game. A very enjoyable game played solo or with friends. Also the art work of Jonesy the cat on the board itself is a nice little touch.
IF you let yourself get taken in by the experience then you’ll find this a scary race to survive as a team.
Had an absolute blast playing this with my brothers.
A little clunky at the start as we were working things out but by the end we were absolutely all-in and having a great time.
Love it!
The box arrived dented and bashed in multiple places. Not good for collectors
Great gift!
I brought this as a present for my alien obsessed mother! She loved it! It won’t be played it will go with the collection but the pieces and theme is all bang on!!
5.0 out of 5 stars In space, no one can hear you game
A simple, well produced board game that does a great job of catching the atmosphere of “Alien”. Some nice miniatures used as play pieces and all in all an enjoyable, and highly replayable board game
The game is super easy to set up. The rules are a little more complex to get your head around but once you get going you pick it up. We played two games first one was not great and had to keep checking the rules but by the end of the second one, we were a lot better and understood it a lot more so much so we were discussing tac ticks for the next one. My husband is a super fan and really pleased with the gameplay and pieces. It’s great that it changes each time you play with different priorities. It will also differ depending on the personalities on your team highly recommend this game
4.0 out of 5 stars A very solid 2 to 5 person game.
I have only played this with 2 players, about 5 times now. I mostly play this with my 10 year old daughter and we both like it. It is fairly quick to set up, lasts about 30 to 40 minutes to play and the instructions are pretty straight forward. We have about a 50:50 win to lose ratio so it’s not too easy or hard. It probably lacks a little longevity but it is good fun. I feel like you get plenty for the relatively low price though. Probably not for the hardcore gamer but a solid purchase for those looking for something fun to pass the evening!
I got this for my birthday and played it the same day with my mother and sister. Having read a few comments about the rules allegedy being unclear, we first watched Rodney Smith’s excellent playthrough on his ‘Watch It Played’ YouTube channel and had zero issues with the rules.
We all really enjoyed it and there was a great sense of tension towards the end of the game. The playing figures are great, as is all of the artwork, and I think that it’s really good value for money.
I must thank Ravensburger for their superb customer support as one of the cards came with a small piece torn out of it so I contacted them and they sent me a replacement within the week.
Alien Fate
Let me start by saying I’m a MASSIVE Aliens fan!!!! The board game and pieces are very well made. The instructions on the other hand, I think you have to a genius to understand them. I just watched a YouTube video on how to play. The game play is OK, I found the more players the better. Personally, I don’t think this game is really worth 30. This is my opinion, you may love the game.
Surprisingly easy to learn and fun to play with 1-5 players
Bought this for my 12 year old son as an introduction to the alien franchise (we watched the first movie together over Christmas) and he absolutely loves it. Easy to learn, but challenging to beat – bloody Jonesy the cat gets us every time
Really well designed and made, lots of love has gone into the packaging – much better than the usual ravensburg offerings.
A new favourite in our collectio
4.0 out of 5 stars Great co-op came for 1 to 5 players
I enjoy many modern board games, which I frequently play solo, as my wife prefers something a bit lighter and shorter as the types of games I normally play. Often we have 5 people in the house, so the fact that this is a light co-op game that supports 1 to 5 players ticks multiple boxes for me.
We’ve played it twice now at 4 players and it plays really well – everyone has enjoyed it and wants to play it again. We won both times, but it came down to the wire each time.
Might also act as a gateway to getting the family to play Nemesis with me
Fun and easy to lea
As a fan of tabletop gaming and the Alien movies this was an easy purchase.
Quite similar to Ravensburgers Horrified, you move around the board picking up scrap and trying to avoid the Alien (and Ash if playing the hard mode), crafting items to control the Alien movements and fulfil objectives.
Quite quick to play, our first game was around 45 minutes, and we only needed to consult the rule book a couple of times after reading it once.
We watched the first half of the Alien movie, up to Kane’s last supper then played the game with the Alien soundtrack on the background.
Great atmosphere and the tension really builds.
It is lightweight, don’t expect the same level of immersion as Nemesis, but you’ll die a lot less.
Well crafted game for fans of the film
We are a couple in our 30s who love Ravensburger’s Horrified and Jaws games and I love the film Alien so we expected to similarly enjoy this. The artwork and figures are beautifully designed and it’s well thought out in relation to the movie itself (hurrah for the best character Jonesy the cat!). We found the Alien soundtrack on YouTube to play along to it which added atmosphere. Really recommend if you enjoy coop gaming.
A cooperative fun little number. Random objective and final mission cards mean you’re not just playing the same story over and over. Work together to hunt the ship for parts and items evade and fend off the alien while trying to complete a set of objective card requirements before completing a final mission card. Meeting the alien pushed down crew moral which when it bottoms out the player lose. So everyone wins or everyone loses. Even meeting the cat gives you scare so watch out for jonesy.
Shame the box was ripped and dented – delivery was fine and delivery box was grand so seems to have been shelf or packing damage. But meh it’s cardboard and wasn’t a present so I’ll live with that.
5.0 out of 5 stars In space no one can hear you scream.
Another excellent licence based game from Ravensburger. Production value is high. Rules are easy to understand. Artwork is brilliant. Minis are very detailed. This is a must have for any Alien fan. 5/5.
