Excellent product. Value for money is superb. For the price point I don’t think any of its competitors beat it. I bought them for a student film production and they worked a treat. Could not recommend more.
Tested from 50 feet away, through two thick stone walls and one wood floor. Told it sounded like I was standing beside the person receiving. Will update if my next much-longer-distance test reveals anything different. Very easy to use but not the best operating instructions I have ever read – luckily, I am an amateur radio license-holder so had no trouble. Very well-made and very good value. Highly recommend. p.s. do not speak into the mike – speak ACROSS it in a normal voice. Easy to use once you have carefully deciphered the instructions!! UPDATE: TESTED FROM BEHIND 4 CONCRETE BLOCK AND STONE WALLS OVER 100 METRES AWAY as well as from a wooded area behind a 50ft thick earth bank also over 100 metres away with such absolutely perfect static-free clear voice communication that I immediately bought another two RT27’s. Now trying to find spare batteries but that is proving difficult so have contacted manufacturer.
Checked out reviews of these in several places before purchase. They are very compact, light, and very easy to use. Simple, yet effective. We have a parkrun course divided by a rail line on an embankment, had concerns the obstruction would affect the range – no problem at all, perfect transmission/reception. The headset supplied with each set is easy to use, leaving hands free. No experience of using two way radios required, just set the channel on power up so they are on the same channel, and go. Push to talk button is easy to use. Crystal clear transmissions. Great quality, great price. Recommended!
We tested these walkie talkies and found that the quality was good they feel solid and are a nice size the antenna is a permanent placed antenna and the power is only. 0.5 w however the range is good we tested them in a built up area and hilly terane and the reception was clear over a quarter of a mile. We are sure they will go a lot ferther that’s good for a quarter of a watt. They can also be programmed to apply a scramble modulation on what ever channel you choose. For the price they are good but remember they are not top of the range but for basic communication they work well.

Bonne qualit gnral, batterie tient longtemps la charge ( 1 journe allumsans problme ) , le systme d’couteur de moins bonne qualit ( comme souvent ) , distance dmission en zone rural ( bcp d’arbre , vhicule ,pont ect ) 1.8km .

Efficace e funzionale
Provato non appena arrivato, il pacco presenta 2 scatole contenente ognuna 2 walkie talkie ed altri accessori (Cuffie, batterie, caricatori, cordina e ganci) cos come presentato nella descrizione del prodotto.
A primo impatto il prodotto sembra buono, il materiale non male e l’antenna sembra robusta, inoltre la presenza, all’interno della confenzione, di ganci e cordina rende pi semplice portarli in giro.
Anche le cuffie presenti nella confezione non sono super male, bisogna sistemare bene il volume altrimenti si rimane sordi, ma alla fine come aggiunta utile.
Testato dopo aver caricato le batterie, la voce quasi nitida (in generale si sente molto bene). Provata anche la distanza di comunicazione e posso dire che per 2.2 km si poteva fare una chiacchierata normalissima come se si fosse faccia a faccia. Oltre i 2.2 km non sono andato ma penso proprio che possa raggiungere maggiori distanze, soprattutto in campo aperto, come ovvio che sia.
In generale per il mio scopo questi walkie talkie sono utili (mi servono per comunicare da una parte all’altra di un campo) e quindi copre bene le ‘piccole” distanze, inoltre la presenza di “gadget” all’interno della scatola lo rende ottimale e funzionale per lo scopo per cui stato creato, speriamo durino molto.
P.S. lo stesso produttore vende accessori aggiuntivi carini per i walkie talkie cos da rendere pi comoda una conversazione in questo ambito half – duplex.

Le produit est TRES TRES bien conu (et dans les petits dtails), simple, trs bien tudier, ergonomique, poids lger, (viter l’eau !!!). Accessible tous.
Qualit de son = TB++. Pas trop grand et pas trop petit = parfait dans une main “standard” :))
Simple utiliser , mais pas encore russi utiliser le mode “VOC” un peu complexe, mais quand on trouve la solution, = .
Manuel d’utilisation multi langues trs explicite et trs complet.

Great package for the price. Came with some charge, but soon charged up. Good mic and audio quality from the units themselves. Plenty of volume to be had. Outside distance just fine, limited only by regulations, but meets expectations. I had a signal about 500m from my house which is more than fine for my use. I got them for cycling with a friend. Nice and chunky with a wrist strap and removable clothing clip. The earpiece/mic accessoires are a mixed bag. The audio quality through the earpiece is really good. However, the mic quality is pretty poor, and the push to talk button is a bit flimsy. I was in contact with the company regarding the software download and they responded very quickly. In my reply I mentioned the earpiece issue and they said they appreciated me taking the time to let them know. There’s a paper manual included which talks about programming them. Not really needed for casual use. Literally push to talk using one of the 16 PMR channels available. But for geeky folk, the software is downloadable from the Retevis website. You’ll need a cable and the cable software if trying this out. The tweaks really aren’t worth the hassle for the average user. Worth every penny. I’d have loved these as a child! Highly recommended.
So I got a pair of these for my kids to use as I wanted something really simple. As these only have an off/on-volume knob and a channel selection dial these looked perfect. Better still, these can be programmed via free software called CHIRP so I was able to set all 16 channels slots to operate on the same frequency (see screenshot). This makes them behave like single-channel radios which is better for my small children right now – it means whatever dial they turn they will always work with each other. When the time is right, I can program in 16 proper PMR446 channels.
I noticed the channels can be set to low or high power through CHIRP (see screenshot). I have no means of measuring the power output but have stuck to the low setting for now which serves our purpose just fine. I’m wary that setting this to high would make them “illegal” for PMR446 use but can’t confirm that without knowing the effective radiated power.
You can also enable a “scramble” setting per channel, which I think is some kind of voice inverter. It certainly makes it difficult to understand what is being said on other handsets if that feature isn’t enabled. Two points to note about this feature though: it isn’t “encryption” so someone else with the same handset could unscramble your conversation. And this feature is probably illegal to use in the UK.
There is also a “compander” feature which can be enabled on a per-channel basis. This seems to improve the signal to noise ratio (makes the audio easier to hear) so is worth enabling if you’re using other compatible handsets.
There are other features but I don’t understand the detail of how they work. For example there is a power save feature and a “scan add” option per channel. I don’t know how you enable the channel scan feature on the RT24, so adding or removing a channel from a scan list seems to do nothing.
My only niggle with them is that the Push To Talk button is a bit tricky for small children. It isn’t a large orange button as you may think from the pictures, but a small microswitch underneath a large flexible orange cover. So you need to push at the right spot of the orange cover in order to push the button underneath it. Probably not an issue for most adults, but it can be a problem for small children. My smallest struggles to hold it down. As I say, minor niggle and really splitting hairs.
In short I think these are great and would probably get more if I needed them, although I’m keen to try the RT21 radios as they look like they may be a bit more robust than these.
