Well, I got these files not really knowing if they were Amy good. Buy I have just used the needle file amd it worked great. Did the job in about 5 minutes amd I really am just an amateur. They seem solidly made and are a great weight. Thoroughly recommend.

When you are buying engineers files there isn’t much you can say. Yes they are files, yes the description 2s correct and they feel fine in the hand. I haven’t used them yet they were bought for a job in the future and I have no doubt that they will be fine. The job will be finished to the standard required by the boss. Then and only then will we both be happy. Happy wife = Happy life. All quiet on the home front.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese seems to be a good first set of “big” files. They’re “medium-coarse” (as if that’s a measure) and they remove material quite quickly. I’ve had them a while and not encountered any issues using them variously on woods, mild steel and plastics. The handles seem comfortable enough to hold.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHaving used these a couple of times, they seem certainly up to the job, having said that for around 2 quid each I was not expecting these to be something a professional would use but perfectly adequate for DIY at home.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese Files are Excellent. They are strong tough and do the job and they are great value. I was slightly amused to see some comments moaning about the handles,i guess some people do not know how to hold and use a file properly, and even if the handle did work lose you can fix it very easy. I recommend these Files they are good and great value thanks.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCertainly can’t complain considering the price! Bought these for occasional use in the shed for a few home projects and have done me well so far. Nice comfortable handles, a good size of file and decent range of shapes to suit whatever you need to file. Would recommend

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have a great selection of tools but always find at the wrong time I need a file for something and don’t have one! Well in a rage one day and needing a file I didn’t have I bought these. Didn’t want to go too expensive as only need them now and again.

These arrived very well presented for the price, used them a couple of times and seem great value for money and fairly sturdy. Perfect for the use I will give them. Was fairly impressed with the different files in the pack as well.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought these on the 16th of March, 6 days ago, for 8:82p Prime and delivered the next day. The are now 11:22, but worth every penny. I had a good chuckle at all the people who complained about the handles coming loose; I cannot think how you managed it, but there is no way mine could come off. Perhaps those who have no idea of how to use bastard files, should search for instructions on YouTube lol…

Too many people compare cheap products to those that would cost 10 times as much. These are very cheap files, they are not made for heavy industrial work. I bought mine to sharpen my cabinet scrapers, which they do incredibly well and I don’t have to spoil my good quality wood files. Great value in my opinion and will serve me many years for my purpose.

A very Rolson 24727 Engineer File Set – 5 Pieces I’m glad I got these 5 files as I thought that I might get away with just as flat file for a DIY project (Extending the inner width of a pair of Thule roof bars as my roof rails on my car were 7 cm narrower) I ended up using all 5 profiles, so this was a wise purchase.

Great quality files for the price, I’ve not used them extensively but so far they do not disappoint.

You get a good selection of shapes and sizes and while I doubt they will last forever they are certainly great quality for an amateur wood/metal worker.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersThere are a vast number of nicer files out there – Ones that have straight, securely attached handles, without scabby seams around the nitrile over-moulding, but for 1.70 a pop I can forgive all that. All I wanted was a cheap set to throw in the toolbox I carry around between jobs that would save my good files from getting covered in crud and beaten up in my toolbox when once in a blue moon I’m roped into working on something that’s covered in some kind of ancient petrified grease/rust/etc, instead of lovingly sculpting the desiccated corpse of a tree from the comfort of my woodworking shop.

These files aren’t heirloom quality tools that I plan to stay up at night polishing. I’m not going to give them names and get attached to them. I certainly don’t think I’ll still be using them in 40 years time (maybe they’ll surprise me, who knows). But considering what little they cost I’m chuffed to bits.

2023 EDIT – Six years later and they’re still going strong! I did cave in and give them names though. Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon & Michael.

These weren’t the cheapest files available but were nowhere near the most expensive, and seemed to fit the bill when a one-off job cam up for which a file was needed. They certainly worked well enough on the one job to give a 4 star rating, but at this stage I would like to see how well they perform over time before coming back to give a final rating.

Worked fine for me but the handles did start to fall off once you start using a bit of elbow grease. Not been much of an issue as I just glued them back in and it’s been fine since. The files work fine and other than the handle slipping off I have no complaints.

Perfect for domestic/ heavy domestic use. Can’t vouch for pro use as I would not know, but I can’t see these files falling apart anytime soon. If the handles do come off as some have stated, I can thing of a very quick easy solution. Strong glue.
    Good for the price.

I bought these for my workshop for shaping wood (mostly pine) and they work perfectly. Its great having the different shape files to aid in the shaping of the wood. They feel solid in use and I like the fact they have the holes in the handles so I can have them hanging above my workbench. I have bought the matching needle files for more detailed work. Worth noting – it works out cheaper buying these and the needle files separately if you want both. Rolson sell these files and the needle files together in a case for a few pounds more – if you don’t want yet another case going in the bin then its a better and cheaper to buy separate. I would recommend these.
