These are slimline so easy to pop under furniture if you want the scales out of sight. I feel that the reading is accurate. The colour is nice and I was happy with the price. Would recommend.

These scales replace another Salter set of scales which operated on a random basis. These appear to have learned from their cousins and seem responsive and accurate. They’re good looking and I’d recommend them.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersOk, without going into too many details, lets just say that these scales can handle 27 stone on top of them.

I have no other scales to compare them to, so I cant vouch for their accuracy, but they seem fairly consistent, which is far more important anyway. If you lift the scales up and reposition them, they seem to need a period of recalibration with you standing on them a few times before it reaches some stability in the readings. If you’re going to be moving them about a lot, then you may find the readings vary a lot. Its as simple as that really, just keep them in one spot and don’t move them about.

As demonstrated already, they are strong. The display isn’t backlit, but is large and easy to read as long as you can see around your enormous belly. The display can be set to read in pounds, stones, or even kilos if you are one of them newfangled measurement types. Resolution is to tenths of a pound, (one decimal place), which is good enough.

There’s no body-fat measurement or anything like that, so if you are looking for just a simple weight measurement, then these are really good for the price. I paid 15 by the way, and for that price I wasn’t really expecting much, but I am pleasantly surprised by these. I would buy these again if I broke them.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis works as well as I would expect any digital bathroom scales to. However, the LCD display is not backlit as it claims in the description. So if you buy this hoping to use it in a dark and dingy corner without turning some lights on, there will be some disappointment.

I weigh myself every week. I hover around 21 stone in weight. These digital scales have never skipped a beat. Easy to read, easy to clean. I did change the battery once, but aside from that they have performed perfectly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have to do best of three on thesethe first time is always 3lbs heavier than subsequent weighings taken one after the other. This did my head in until I just decided to weigh three times, and they are consistently lighter on the second and third weighs.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSeemed that all the scales had some negative reviews but I decided to go with Salter as last year I bought Salter electronic kitchen scales and they are still working well and precise to the nearest gram.
I wonder if sometimes they get damaged/dropped in transit?
Anyway, very glad I did as it is a lovely looking machine, easy to use and undoubtedly accurate (cross checked against another machine). It also comes with 15 YEAR GUARANTEE, so what’s not to like?

None of the digital bathroom scales I’ve tried are completely accurate, but these appear to be a slightly more consistant than some brands. Simple attractive design, but don’t be misled with Salter England. branding. It’s the usual product of Chinese sweatshops sold under various brand names. I have an ‘anywhere but China’ buying policy, but it’s very difficult to achieve that with certain products. I’d be much more enthusastic if the scales were indeed made in England, even though the price would be higher. Cheapness comes at a price.

I read all the reviews and was a bit worried about some of the comments but I have Salter kitchen scales that have lasted ages and I thought the scales were a good price. I love my scales they are clear is to use lightweight perfect. The only thing I do wipe them over is they are dust collectors but that’s just me. I would say the instructions were a bit rubbish but worked it out fine and the little feet were easy to put on. I would definitely by this model again.

Bought these for my elderly grandparents. Managed to set them up in under a minute and my grandparents are very happy with them as the scales are easy to read and look stylish in their bathroom. The scales come with removable carpet feet which is a nice option if you have a small bathroom or wet room. The button to change the measurement setting is on the bottom of the scale, which I was pleased about as it means my grandparents are not likely to accidentally change the setting and phone me to go down and fix it. Good price for what you get.

Great bathroom scales, 8 years on, one battery change, still looks goods and works just fine. I keep my upright and when you lay it down sometimes it can give a different reading the first time as it readjusts/sets itself. I had read in the instructions or somewhere that you need to put a little pressure to trigger it to go ‘on’ and then wait 10 seconds for it to adjust itself. Sometimes the first reading comes out a little off but all subsequent readings are the same for me.

I really like the fact that the reading stays on the screen for a little while after which makes it much easier if you cannot see the scales at the time of weighing, for example when weighing suitcases for travel. I have never had issues at airports with luggage so I am fairly confident of its accuracy. Overall still really pleased with it, looks very smart.

Really difficult finding scales that do stone and pounds as well as kilos. Very confusing as the hospital always weigh in kilos but it is meaningless to me as I understand where I am using stone. I always have to convert !! I shall teach myself to understand kilos, so these are brilliant as they do both. These scales are slim, attractive ( not ugly or bling ) . Easy to read when you don’t have glasses on when you jump out of the shower. I read several reviews about inaccuracy and breakage. If you have them on a tiled floor they are fine ( I have to move them each time, daily, that I use them ). I would not recommend glass scales anyway if you have young childre

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhen I read that these scales would allow you to step straight on and weigh without having to wake the scales first, I decided to give these scales a go above the others at a similar price point.

I was interested to see how this worked – once you’ve zeroed the scales once on the floor, as long as you don’t move the scales from their position, you can simply step on and weigh yourself. This is far easier than other scales where it can take 3 or 4 taps of the scale before it wakes.

Over and above that, the display is nice and clear (even more so than the image suggests), and the attachable carpet feet are a nice addition. The weight readout is consistent on multiple tries too, which is good.

I’d certainly recommend these scales to anyone wanting simple, easy to use, and accurate body scales at home.

Its important to decide whether you are going to use these on a hard surface (eg bathroom tiled floor) or a soft one like a bedroom carpet as there will be a variance. However, there are special ‘feet’ supplied for use on a soft floor so that they are adjusted accordingly. You can also decided whether you want to weigh in kilograms or stone/pounds/ounces and switch as appropriate. Once positioned, they give a very good, clear and accurate reading. Salter is such a reliable name for scales and I have always found their products can be trusted. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese are great scales and easy to use once you have mastered changing the carpet feet. The product doesn’t contain any instructions on changing the feet and the response to my email request for instructions were also not helpful.
The sticky pad on the feet has to be removed – this was tricky and I used eyebrow tweezers to rip them off. The carpet feet (provided) then clip into the holes that are under the sticky pad. I stuck the pad back on the carpet feet.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFirst of all, don’t read the negative reviews.

I was partially put off purchasing this item because of the reviews mentioning that they’re quite unreliable with regards to accuracy.

What I would say is that this is completely wrong. They’re very accurate.

The buyers that are stating that it’s inaccurate are using it on different surfaces, especially carpet. Carpet is a spongy fabric, and of course if you move the scales onto different fabrics, it will show a different weight results – that’s why there’s “carpet legs” included in the box.

Keep the scales on a hard surface (like tiles in your bathroom), and you definitely won’t have a problem.

TL:DR – This product is great; reliable and accurate. Don’t believe the negative reviews about inaccuracy as they’re not using the product correctly.

  17. Homer6572hnlvml says:

The scales are great. Only problem is the carpet feet. To fit them you have to peel off the non-slip discs (sticky pads) on the normal feet. This was quite difficult and caused some damage to the sticky pads. Seemed accurate when used on carpet (with the special feet) but didn’t work on lino – type bathroom floor with either type of feet.
Basically you wouldn’t be able to keep swapping between carpet feet and normal feet because you would wear out the relevant parts by putting them on and off. Need to decide on carpet or hard floor.

I use mine with the hard floor feet on the shower tray as that is firm.

Golden Review Award: 83 From Our UsersThese scales still look good and work well after five years. They’ve been pressed into service weighing people, suitcases and once even a bicycle.

The display is very clear to read and they wake up when you stand on them. I find that sometimes, a bit like myself in the mornings, they need a few seconds to settle down after switching on. I find that if I get off then back on, the reading settles down, and then reads the same for multiple times after that.

I have them switched to kilograms, but there’s a button on the underside to change to stones/pounds or just pounds. They weight up to 180kg/28st8lb/400lb in increments of 0.1kg/0.2lb.

I’ve changed the batteries only a couple of times. They take a single standard CR2032 battery. Buy multipacks from Amazon rather than individually form the high street; they’re so much cheaper.

They aren’t Bluetooth, there’s no app and they don’t measure your bodyfat. But what they do very well is tell you how heavy you are. For the price, that’s good enough for me.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersIntro

This product has been sitting in the corner of our bathroom for at least the last year. I have used it on occasion and never had a problem. Its small size and stylish design makes it look great and fit snugly in our bathroom. These scales are covered in a layer of glass, giving it the ‘stylish’ look. This did initially worry me as I feared stepping onto it with too much ‘gusto’ in my tired and dazed morning state, but I needn’t have worried. The glass has stood the test of time and weight, and after roughly one year I am confident it would take a hell of a lot of pressure to crack that glass!

    Using The Scales

I have had many a bad experience with bathroom scales in my time, from having to awkwardly lean over/ bend down to read the display whilst standing on it, to attempting to figure out how to set the scale to zero and when exactly to step on. Fortunately, I have never had any problems with this product. The display is very simple and of a great size. My eyesight is not amazing, but I can comfortably and clearly read the numbers while standing up straight and the back-lit display makes it easy to read whether its light or dark in the bathroom. The measurements are said to be accurate to 100g (0.2lbs) and can display your weight in stones, kilos or pounds; although I personally have never used any other measurement than kilos! As i said the scales are quite small, but not too small so that your feet can’t fit on them. My feet are size 10, and they fit comfortably on the scales with no problems at all. The small width/ height, and very thin depth make it perfect for storing in the smallest of bathrooms, and great for tucking away in the corner.

    Battery Life

These scales are operated by a CR 2032 3 Volt Lithium battery WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED!

    Safety

As this product is to be used mainly in the bathroom, i feel safety is an important aspect. The bathroom in which we keep these scales is very very small, and therefore, after a shower the floor ends up very wet. Luckily this product has some very effective, very small ‘legs’/ ‘feet’ that stick brilliantly to a wet floor. Yes this can be rather annoying when your’e trying to shuffle the scales around the bathroom floor with your feet, to save yourself from the herculean task of picking it up and moving it, but safety is important! Unfortunately, the glass surface to this product is a concern. As you can imagine, stepping onto a plane of glass with wet feet is never a smart idea, and these scales can be rather slippery under these conditions. The only way to avoid this is to simply wipe your feet before hopping on, but I feel I must warn you as the glass can get covered in condensation while you shower; so wiping it with a tissue/ towel is the safest option!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish, Elegant, Robust... a Perfectly working scale!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users3 Ps Review:

Packaging: Nice slimline cardboard box, comes with instruction manual and extra feet for when the scales are used on a carpet.

Product: Well made and with 15 year guarantee. Glass surface, slightly slippy if moisture gets on the surface from the shower/bath. Also if you step on the edge of the product it will flip upwards and then back down onto the floor. We have a 4 year old who does this. The product is overall very well made, and extremely accurate (tried and tested with multiple people over a few days) Overall very happy with it. It does have different measurements (KG, LBs, ST and LBs) but annoyingly you have to pick up the scales and flip them over to press the button, this is a regular occurrence for us as my wife measures in KGs and I in Stones/LBs. Needless to say we’re very happy with it.

Price: We purchased this at 16 and feel that this is definitely a fair price for this item.

These scales have wonderful accuracy and its brilliant to use a pair of scales which gives a consistent reading each time you step on and off in a short space of time.

The only thing I have found slightly disappointing is how basic the instructions are and the lack of help they give you when trying to work out how to attach the carpet feet.

It would also be nice to be able to attach them without having to pull off the rubber on the normal feet so you could switch easily between the two rather than having to choose to either use the scales on the carpet or a hard surface.

Overall though these are still the best pair of scales I have owned!

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersAnother 5 stars review here! I read many reviews of bathroom scales before replacing my old scales which were pretty much falling apart. I now have these scales on a hard downstairs floor, but they worked just as well on an upstairs lino bathroom floor. When I first received them, I’d weigh myself several times a day to test how consistent they are. For example, I’d weigh myself, then again 10 mins later, then again 10 mins later, and the scales always give the same reading. Drink a glass of watch and sure enough the increase in my weight was correct.

When you’re calorie counting, you need this sort of accuracy and certainty and I have to say I’m very impressed with these scales. As it happens, the very first reading I took on these scales was identical to the reading on my old scales. So not only are the scales consistent from one weighing to another, but I believe that they give an accurate reading too.

And I like the “just step on” feature. No pre-tapping is needed to switch them on. Highly recommended!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these as a replacement for a fabric covered scale showing signs of wear. Basically because I use a hand basin to wash next to the scales and I splash water when washing which ends up on the scales . I have not used these scales or any weighing device for years. Now I can splash like a Hippo and just wipe over my puddles quickly. My Wife who I bought them for, is pleased with them, now thinks I use a Flannel instead of throwing water everywhere. So we are both happy ,
Actually they look very nice, easily cleaned and evidence removed for any fellow splashers. Large enough for the bigger foot sizes.
My Wife tells me they are very accurate, which tells me she has likely lost a couple of ounces or grams .I would recommend these Scales for 5 stars but as I do not step on them, it had to be 4. A quality product well made.

I bought these digital Salter 9028 bathroom scales to replace another Salter bathroom scale (the same make and model) that were mysteriously chipped. These scales are made from tough tempered glass and are strong enough to take the weight of a person up to 180kg or 28 stones. They also have a 15 year guarantee. I keep our scales in the bathroom, on the vinyl floor next to the toilet. I weigh myself every day without fail before I have my morning shower. The scales are accurate although my weight does fluctuate slightly from between .02 of a lb to 2.0 lb at certain times – I appear to have developed water retention/hypertension. My weight never used to fluctuate so. I am not of a heavy build at all (I am not going to give you my weight, but I am a size 8-10, 5’9”, and my body mass index is within the normal range for my medium build) and I eat a healthy diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, and high in protein. I have cut down on the amount of carbohydrate in my diet and anything that might cause water retention like alcohol and caffeine ( I rarely drink alcohol these days and I have cut out caffeine completely), but strangely it hasn’t made any difference. I don’t eat a high fat diet either-quite the opposite, or consume sugar or sugary foods or drinks, or processed food. Its so strange I can’t explain it. I can go to bed to sleep at my usual time before midnight, and then wake up the next morning bloated and suffering from water retention. This obviously shows on the readings on the bathroom scales. It is definitely NOT the scales. They do give accurate readings.
Anyway, returning to the mystery of the chipped scales. I have knocked these scales against the side of our ceramic toilet more than once, sometimes so hard that I thought I might have chipped a corner of the toughened glass. There was no damage whatsoever. In fact, the scales chipped a tiny amount of ceramic off the side of the toilet, thats how durable these scales are. In which case I find it very strange that my last scales were very badly chipped about halfway along the underside of the edge of the right side. This area of the scales never came into contact with anything. The corners of the scales which occasionally got knocked against the side of the toilet are still perfect and undamaged. To me the large chip on the underside of the scales looks as if it has been carefully done using a hammer. I have taken close up photos of the chip, and it looks as if the scales were hit twice with a hard object like a hammer to deliberately cause the damage. How strange. It was definitely not caused by me or by my partner. The only explanation I can think of, is that it was caused by the same people who have been breaking into our home and who have stolen both mine and my partners identity, and who have vandalised and damaged our other possessions including furniture and our carpet. The two blows to the underside of the scales that caused the damage must have been done by someone very skilled, someone who knew exactly where to strike the scales, and exactly how hard to strike them, in order to cause the intended amount of damage. Please see my other reviews.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOur previous more expensive Salter (Salter 9036 Max View) purchased from Amazon stopped working pretty much the day after the 1 year guarantee ran out. Needless to say I wasn’t very impressed given that it’s not the sort of thing that should have to be purchased every year.

We went without a scale for a while until I had to relent to the wife’s constant nagging that I had put on weight (she was right unfortunately). I went for this particular model because there’s brief mention of it coming with a 15 year guarantee (though it’s not necessarily very clear in the Amazon product description). Plenty of reviewers have commented about it’s accuracy.

We have it set up in the Bathroom on a hard floor and it pretty much stays in one position. I have found the results to be accurate and also repeatable. It does look very smart and is indeed very slim.

All in all I’m quite pleased and the fact it does indeed come with a 15 year guarantee is a re-assurance despite the relatively early failure of our previous Salter.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersTotally useless Instruction Booklet from Manufacturer. For use on carpet Salter says:- ‘For use on carpet attach enclosed carpet feet’ with nothing more. This is not at all helpful! The only help was that I found the instructions in a review from Ken Leigh:-

This review is from: Salter 9028 Razor Ultra Slim Technology Electronic Glass Bathroom Scale Silver (Personal Care)
…Instructions for fitting the carpet feet may be a little unclear for some so note the following: peel off the 4 rubber discs on the feet as supplied carefully – I needed a small screwdriver to lever up at first before peeling. Fit the four tongues of the plastic supplied carpet feet into the little slots revealed when the discs are removed and push home. They should click into place easily. Refit the rubber discs onto the carpet feet….”

So what happens when you then want to use it on a non-carpeted floor, do you have to take the carpet feet off? 0 out of 10 to Salter.
Will rate the accuracy once I have found my small screwdriver and sorted out the feet!

Golden Review Award: 92 From Our UsersThese bathroom scales look lovely and I thought they were weighing correctly. However my partner became suspicious (weighing himself every day tut tut!!) when there was never any variation in his weight and we all know that doesn’t happen. Being into electronics he has his own ideas why this is. To try and prove him wrong I weighed myself and then picked up a bottle weighing 12oz and weighed myself again. Now remember this is a set of scales which gives you ounces as well. Not ONE ounce difference from my first weighing in. I tried this on a number of occasions but the result was the same. Can the scales see who is standing on them and remember the first weight???? When I chose a full wine bottle then there was a difference. This is no good as we all want to see the odd 8oz difference in our weight. I’m afraid I will be getting in touch with Salter about this 🙁

ONE WEEK LATER – I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH SALTER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE SENT ME A NEW SET OF SCALES FOC WHICH SEEM TO HAVE A DIFFERENT ELECTRONIC SET-UP AND AND AT THE MOMENT ARE WORKING EXACTLY AS I WOULD EXPECT THEM TO – WELL DONE SALTER!!! MY STAR RATING HAS NOW INCREASED CONSIDERABLY 🙂
