Fehler ausbessern muss. Dennoch sehr praktisch.

    Wehrmutstropfen: (Bin trotzdem begeistert)

The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100i is a great portable scanner for both personal and professional use. It’s compact and lightweight, making it easy to take on the go. The scan quality is excellent and it can handle a variety of document types, including double-sided documents. The software that comes with the scanner is user-friendly and easy to navigate. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with an automatic document feeder, so you have to manually feed each page. Overall, I highly recommend the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100i for anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality portable scanner.

Does what it says on the box. Superb compact and fast document scanner. Less good at photos though, but then it’s not sold as a photo scanner so….

Very very good at what it says it will do.

Fazit: rundum zufrieden!

A very small scanner, almost ‘cute’. Software easy to load and update. Runs off USB. So far pulls paper through easily and love the little paper guide on the back which pushed the paper up (as opposed to just out the rear) saving even more desk space. Software easy to use. Only scanned to pdf at time of writing but scans cleanly and I have no doubt scanning to OCR or other applications will be just as clean.

So far so good (a few weeks use). It’s a cute little USB connected and powered device that works well and has been much faster and more efficient at scanning individual documents and receipts for expenses than either the flatbed scanner on my printer or the modern method of using your smartphone with a scanning app and saving it. This scans documents quickly and at high quality (adjustable, of course), corrects things on auto very well. It’s one sided, but you can flip a document or receipt over and do the other side and then save it as a 2 (or multi-page) page document.
I am using it on Mac OS X Sierra (10.12.6). I went to the website and downloaded the latest revision of the Scan Snap software and it has worked fine.
I haven’t used (and chose not to install) some of the additional software offered as part of the package. I have found that the basic Scansnap software does everything I need to adjust quality, rename and save scans where I want them. OCR is part of the basic Scansnap manager app too, but I haven’t needed to scan anything to a searchable document yet, so can’t review how good it is.
The difference this has made to the tedious task of churning through my expenses with electronic backups of receipts etc., has made it worth the cost to me.
Fujitsu have a good reputation with their scanners. I did look at the newer “Pro” version of this model (iX100), but the additional features it had were not necessary for what I wanted to do. I read the iX100 is supposed to have a slightly faster scan time, but honestly, this S1100i feels pretty rapid.
Still relatively early days using it, but I must say I am really happy so far.

I’m delighted with this little scanner, tiny, great image quality, and no messy mains leads. The feed is good and it doesn’t damage the originals.
Scanning technology has really improved these last few years, but it’s the compact size that really counts – the ScanSnap takes up hardly any space.

I have the ScanSnap S1100 which looks physically identical to this one. I just looked back at some old documents I scanned dated June 2011. I scan a dozen or so sheets per week and have been for the last 5 years. It has survived drops and jams. Still working as good as new and perfect for producing copy-and-paste-able PDF files that get sent straight to Evernote.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have had a few scanners in the past and none have met my expectations until now. This scanner is small but produces great scans to my MacBook Air quickly and simply, at the moment I am using to add all my favourite pre digital photos to my camera roll. I will then use it to file lots of letter receipts and other items to decrease the amount of paperwork I have stored. I did not buy mine from Amazon, but have purchased the case to keep my scanner safe and dust free.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our Users4.5 stars. The Scansnap S1100i is a great portable feed scanner. Great for loose page documents. So won’t handle books or passports, etc. But fast and clear scans. Software comes on CD but a pamphlet directs you to a website for downloads if you don’t have a CD player. Big download (900+ MB of separate programs), but there are lots of options to scan to, such as the Organizer (File Explorer- like program), CardMinder (business cards) or Receipt (expenses). All are very good. Works with my Windows 10.1 (64-bit) with no problems. Scans as either PDF or JPG.
Comes with Abbyy so everything can be OCRed. Note it does not support TWAIN or WIA, so cannot scan directly from within a program – everything has to go through the Scansnap software. But you can then send the scan out to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, a folder, GoogleDrive/ DropBox/ OneDrive, mobile app, Salesforce Chatter, or a program of your choice (e.g. I have PaintShop Pro setup).
The software looks okay (Office 2010- like) and works really well. You need to spend the time going through each program and finding the folders’ setting if you don’t want to save to the default drive on C: (on Windows anyway). I set up a folder on D: and was pleased to note that the folder structures you setup in the Scansnap software are replicated under your set Windows folder, and in there are the PDFs or JPGs. So if Scansnap were ever to cease in its existence, your scanned PDFs and JPGs are still separately safe within your Windows folder.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEtwas, was in der heutigen Zeit immer seltener der Fall ist: Ausgereifte Software, gute Dokumentation.

+ Gute und flotte Texterkennung dank mitgelieferter OCR-Software “ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap (TM) 5.0”.

    Get Organized! Go Paperless!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve had this tiny scanner for a couple of weeks now and have been thoroughly impressed!

Like many people I decided it’d be nice to clear several shelves of space by scanning in years of old receipts, bank statements, bills, and so on. I started doing the job with the scanner on my Canon Pixma printer but it was taking ages. Not only that but the software with that scanner was rather poor and would only output each scan as an individual file.

The ScanSnap in comparison is a joy. Infinitely faster (about 10-15 seconds per A4 page) with no need for a preview. I have the software set up to scan directly to a PDF file with all the pages in the one file. The scan quality is not quite as good as the pixma but then it was a “photo” scanner and this is aimed directly as a document scanner.

Bundled software also allows the capture of business cards and these are automatically OCR’d and stored into a card manager application. Took about 10 mins to get mine all in and almost all info recognised correctly.

The unit is entirely USB powered so if you’re after a portable scanner then this would be ideal.

The S1100i has taken everything I’ve thrown at it in it’s stride even correcting for my mistakes such as scanning the page upside down. In fact you can even scan pages larger than a4 by folding and scanning both parts one after the other and it’ll join the image back up for you.

If you’re after something to quickly scan in all your paperwork then this is perfect.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDoes exactly what I expected allowing contents of physical filing cabinet to be drastically reduced. Software very convenient to use. Hardware unobtrusive and works well. Only had it for a few weeks so cannot comment sensibly on reliability. Obviously cannot replace a flatbed scanner but so much more convenient to use for the vast majority of the time. Thoroughly recommended if your aim is to get rid of paperwork that you will probably never need to use again but just might!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI have the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 for Home/Office use which has been perfect and has paid for it’s self many times over, but it came to a point I had to go out on the road, and with the work I do I needed the ability to scan documents.

So following my experience with the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500, I got Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100i and following going on the road with it, I made the right choice.

The first thing about it is it’s small enough to go in a briefcase. Setting it up was straight forward and there was no problem in running it from a usb port.

As there is no document feeder and its simplex only, there is a lot more manual work in scanning documents, but the way it was designed it wasn’t a problem and the quality of the scans didn’t suffer.

For anyone who needs a portable scanner, I highly recommend i
