The reader is well designed well made, compact enough, good slots, supports UHS-II cards, and has lights to show when the cards are busy. I tested using a Sandisk Extreme Pro. Using one card it clocked in quite close to the existing readers I have coming in around 150MB/s and data was reliable and fast.

Used a longer Caldigit TB3/4 cable to mount under desk and ensure top speed. Finally found a hub that would enable full speed with macbook pro since I mostly use it on desktop in clamshell mode. Definitely makes using V90 prograde cards that much more convenient. The magnet actually came in really handy for fast mounting to one of my existing under-desk mount for other stereo equipment made out of metal.

This thing is amazing, I use the magnetic strip on the back on my MacBook. my prograde cards work perfectly fine with this, for some reason my lear card will read but won’t transfer it’ll just stay stuck on waiting

I purchase this reader to complement the 300mbps card and it’s fantastic. Have not had the need to use both slots as yet but looking forward to it. Highly recommended

Bigger than I thought but very good. Photo shows my mouse and previous card reader for scale. My SD card supports 300mb d/l and this reader was downloading at 270mb, more than 3x my current speed. Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI went back and fort between this and other slower/cheaper card readers. I work with a TON of photos (a weekend I copy + cull about 10k photos) and due to the amount of images and large file size I shoot at, I needed a USB 3.2 Gen reader to help get the photos off my SD card. It’s built really well, had no trouble connecting and I use it constantly with 0 issues.

I used to have some cheap $10 single sd card reader (multiple other card slots that I never used) and upgrading to this, the speed is significantly faster even when reading 2 cards at once. If you read a single card at a time it’s super fast, if you read 2 cards at once it’s manageable. The only downside I have of this is the price and for some reason it very breifly and super fast disconnects and reconnects sometimes for no reason closing the window I’m trying to transfer files out of and reopening it.

Massive boost to speed in offloading cards! As a wedding photographer, it would take me close to an hour to offload cards after a wedding. With this card reader it now takes only about 10 minutes. Definitely with the cost for the hours of offloading time it saves!

Time ist nun mal Money.

I’ve had three of my SD cards get deleted by three other different card readers. As a photographer each time was devastating. I finally just had to break down and get something expensive and hope it doesn’t do the same. So far it’s been really great and much faster than the other brands.

I have a lot of music. When I got my M11 I wanted to fill a 1tb memory card with good music. However, I did not want to spend a week doing it. I also want one for my phone, if I someday get out of service. I have not filled that one yet.

This worked well, without a problem at all. It still needed overnight to transfer the music but it can only go as fast as the memory card. I used the USB C fast data on the computer and this. Given the amount of data it worked as fast as I could expect.

Wow it normally took me about 3 hours to load video files from my cards to the computer after a days shooting, now its under an hour ! If you are moving a lot of files regularly get this !

I feel like an idiot for not buying this earlier. I shoot 10bit, big files, and edit off a 10gbe RAID. The ability to transfer two cards at once after a long day of shooting is just fantastic.

Check out that screenshot, V60 cards, I haven’t tried V90 yet but those should be in the 300MBs. Every second counts when editing.

    Make sure you have a 3.2c cable…a good one. If you’re a professional this is a no-brainer.

I personally also tend to go for high end products , at the time of this purchase I bought the Elgato4K60S+ capture device for recording my Xboxseriesx and PS5 game content. I was just looking for a V90 memory card with a write speed up to 250mb per second and this reader game up as a bundled deal for the V90 card I bought and I was not disappointed. It had a hand magnetic side with you can stick to the side of a pc for example or another metal surface for ease of use. It has a solid metal build and has duo slots for multiple cards. I personally would highly recommend this product but there are cheaper alternatives out there, but I love this brand and it was part of my decision to purchase this.

A very solidly built and very fast at downloading images from SD cards to my MacBook. I also store data files on SD cards and with the reader having dual SD slots copying files from one card to another is very quick and convenient. Some complain about the length of the cable supplied with the reader, for me the length is perfect. An all round excellent purchase.

I got this and when I return from filming, I can insert two cards and get it to download from both why I catch up on email etc. I am using it with ProGrade SD cards and its very fast!

We are avid photographers and we read about these drives and decided to give them a try. They are a premium product as the price reflects but they are very quick with a USB 3 port. They work great for ProGrade SD cards as well as other brands. We also bought software from ProGrade that allows you to refresh your SD cards but you need to use these drives for it to work. There are many reviews on the internet confirming the speed of these drives as well as the effectiveness of the refresh software.

Awesome product and well worth the price.

Ok, I must confess I have generally bought the least expensive memory card reader out there every time I needed one. However, a recent video about card readers convinced me to give this ProGrade reader a try. There really is a difference!

This ProGrade reader is better built/more substantial than any other SD reader I’ve owned, both type A and type C USB cables are provided and — it’s blazingly fast! This is the first time I’ve seen transfer speeds anywhere close to what the cards claim, easily 3X from my previous “great price” readers. I’m hooked. With the size of today’s files from 50mp cameras, not to mention video files, spending the extra money for a high quality card reader makes sense.

If you’re looking for a well built, very high speed memory card reader, this is it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHabe das Gert seit fnf Wochen und bin begeistert.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOverall this card is fast, much faster than the Lexar Professional USB 3.0 reader I’ve been using. Read speeds have gone from ~70MB/s to a sustained 240MB/s. However this is only when using a single card. With dual cards I managed to achieve around 150-160MB/s per card writing and the same for reading too, so around 310MB/s when using two cards.

Okay I should be able to read at around 480MB/s according to the specs but this isn’t true. Having said that I’ve tried loads of cheaper cards and they are nowhere near the performance of this hence 4 stars rather than 5. it’s still a very good product though and in my opinion worth the extra money.

I highly recommend, a very fast card reader. You have to pay attention to what cable you attach, the original cable is very good but a little short, I connected a reader with a longer cable from another company and the speed has decreased immediately. I found another cable that works like the original

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersDer Reader hlt was er verspricht.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI shoot a lot of video and find myself having to offload multiple high capacity UHS-II SD cards at a time. Every other card reader I’ve tried slows WAY down when offloading concurrent cards onto your computer. This is the first one I’ve found that doesn’t.

Offloading (2) 128GB Sony “M” cards, I’m getting a combined 480MB/s to my computer. This is close to the maximum rated speed of the cards and much faster than any other multi-reader I have ever used. Note that I am offloading to an NVME SSD with a very high write speed. Offloading to a slower SSD (or a mechanical hard drive) will result in much slower speeds.

I received two cables with reader – USB 3.1 gen 1 A-C and a USB 3.1 gen 2 C-C. I am using the gen 2 C-C cable and getting the expected speeds to my computer.

Be aware that these cables are only about 18.6″ long and were intended for use with a laptop I guess. I found I could not extend the cable from my office desk to my computer tower, so I had to put the reader on top of the tower instead. Not an ideal solution, but the product works so well I don’t care too much. A 3 foot long gen 2 C-C cable is about $16 if you decide you need a longer cable.

If you’re only offloading one card at a time, other readers are a better value. But if you need to offload fast cards at a time, this is by far the best option I’ve found.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThe UHS-II card reader is seriously awesome! The case is nice… it is durable, attractive, heavy (which equals a quality build) and has a magnetic bottom to attach to a metal PC case.

Regarding performance. I tested this SD card reader with a Transcend V90 card and was extremely pleased with the performance. I’m confident this card reader will be able to max out all V90 cards’ advertised read/write speeds when utilizing the proper USB port. The aforementioned card has an advertised read speed of 285 MB/s and write speed of 180 MB/s. I saw SUSTAINED read speeds of 282 MB/s and write speeds of 176 MB/s.

I tested the card reader with the following motherboards and their corresponding USB ports:

    Gigabyte X570 USB 3.2 Gen 2:
    282 MB/s read & 176 MB/s write

    MSI B450 USB 3.1 Gen 2:
    273 MB/s read & 172 MB/s write

    MSI B450 USB 3.1 Gen 1:
    274 MB/s read & 172 MB/s write

    Asus Z97 USB 3.0:
    264 MB/s read & 180 MB/s write

    USB 2.0:
    39 MB/s read & 39 MB/s write

The test was performed by cutting and pasting approximately one dozen 1 GB files from the SD card to the desktop and back to the SD card. My assumptions based on the tests is that any USB 3.1 Gen 1 or better will max out the V90 cards’ advertised performance. What is interesting is the USB 3.0 write test sustained 180 MB/s better than any other port. There could be other variables though including chipset, CPU, etc.

Anyhow, this card reader is definitely worth it. I’m confident it is future proof regarding UHS-II standards.

I purchased this card reader after seeing the fstoppers review saying how fast it was. It is indeed much faster than my Lexar (the black square one). I was surprised that my Kingston (silver USB 3.0 multi reader) was only very slightly slower, which makes it the better value by quite a bit. That said, the Prograde reader does perform well, feels extremely well made, has a magnetic base that’s very convenient, comes with both USB-C and traditional USB cables, and even comes with a nice silver metal “sticker” so you can stick the magnet to anywhere you’d like, such as the lid of a MacBook Pro. It also has 2 SD slots, which is very useful for someone like me who shoots with 2 camera bodies often. Overall I’m happy with it, but if you’re looking for almost the same performance on a budget, the Kingston multi reader (ASIN: B00VAGX6MW) is hard to beat since it’s most of the performance for 1/3 the price… with only one SD slot.

Download speed is really fast. Use it to read RAW picture files which are well over 100mg each. So if you’re downloading 100+ RAW files that’s over 10gb to shift. Prograde card makes light work of the task. No more hanging around for picture files to load.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI would never have guessed that a simple card reader would make such a difference. Like many, I have basically half a drawer full of SD readers. When I heard about this one, and the transfer speeds possible, I had to get one. It’s seems easily twice as fast as any other reader I have. While not a professional photographer, I take many photos of just about anything with 3 Nikon DSLRs. (6000 on a recent trip to Germany) Waiting while they import to Lightroom has always frustrated me. Not so much anymore. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it, if you value your time. It’s a solid, heavy for it’s size, device. Has 2 SD slots that show as 2 external drives, so if you need to move files between cards it’s perfect. Uses a USB-C cable so you don’t need something proprietary. The magnetic back is an awesome, yet simple touch, keeps it where you put it. Overall, I’d say buy one, then you’ll believe it too.

Been using this for a few days now and I’m very happy with the speed and reliability of this product. Also love the fact that it’s magnetic.
