With many applications in aerospace and other industries, glass ceramic is an extremely tough type of crystallized glass that serves as the foundation for Clear Glass Ceramic. While featuring the high transmittance required of optical devices, this advanced new material combines greater hardness than chemically strengthened glass and greater flexibility than sapphire crystal glass. These qualities make Clear Glass Ceramic the ideal material for protective lens filters.

I am an amateur photographer who takes a lot of portraits for friends and family and does an occasional paid shoot. I currently am building my lens collection. To be honest, when I want top quality portraits I usually go with my 85 mm prime lens.

However, when I am out and about with my family and want to capture good candid shots, or am taking photos for my school (I am a teacher by profession), I use this lens. The photo quality is very sharp, the color is great. I am very happy with the functionality of this zoom lens. I would not hesitate recommending this lens for those who are on a bit of a budget over the competition. My experience with this lens has made seriously consider the Sigma 70-200 mm 2.8 Sport as a budget alternative to the Sony’s version II of the same lens.

Nice lens, but for this Sony user the counter clockwise zoom is annoying. All my Sony lenses zoom the other direction, so there’s some hesitation with the Sigma. So far no missed shots but not optimal for someone accustomed to Sony.

I’ve always enjoyed the mid-range of 24-70, but good lord this lens does it so well. On-par with native glass, extremely quick and precise autofocus. This lens has made me a loyal Sigma customer for life. Seriously, it’s that good. This is my new main lens!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTL;DR:
The Sigma 24-70mm lens offers exceptional performance and versatility for Sony E-mount cameras. With its fast aperture, sharp image quality, and solid build, it is a reliable choice for professional photographers and enthusiasts. When compared to the Sony G Master 24-70mm and Tamron 28-75mm lenses, the Sigma provides excellent value for its optical performance and build quality.

    Review:

The Sigma 24-70mm lens is highly regarded for its exceptional performance and versatility on Sony E-mount cameras. It is designed to deliver outstanding results across a wide range of photography genres and is a popular choice among professional photographers and enthusiasts.

One of the standout advantages of the Sigma 24-70mm lens is its fast aperture, providing a constant F2.8 throughout the zoom range. This feature allows for excellent low-light performance, shallow depth of field control, and beautiful background blur. Whether you’re capturing portraits, events, or landscapes, the lens delivers impressive results in various lighting conditions.

The image quality of the Sigma 24-70mm lens is outstanding, offering sharpness, clarity, and accurate color reproduction. It effectively minimizes distortions, chromatic aberrations, and other optical imperfections, ensuring crisp and detailed images. The lens captures fine details and renders accurate colors, enhancing the overall image quality.

In terms of build quality, the Sigma 24-70mm lens is solid and durable, making it suitable for professional use. It features a robust construction and often includes weather sealing, providing protection against dust and moisture. This ensures reliability even in challenging shooting environments.

When compared to the Sony G Master 24-70mm lens, the Sigma 24-70mm lens provides similar optical performance at a more affordable price point. While the Sony G Master lens may have some additional features and a more established brand reputation, the Sigma lens offers excellent value for its optical quality and build.

Compared to the Tamron 28-75mm lens, the Sigma 24-70mm lens offers a wider zoom range and a faster constant aperture. This makes it more versatile in capturing a range of subjects and provides better low-light performance. However, the Tamron lens may be more compact and lightweight, making it a more portable option for certain shooting scenarios.

In summary, the Sigma 24-70mm lens offers exceptional performance and versatility for Sony E-mount cameras. Its fast aperture, sharp image quality, and solid build make it a reliable choice for professional photographers and enthusiasts. When compared to the Sony G Master 24-70mm and Tamron 28-75mm lenses, the Sigma lens provides excellent value for its optical performance and build quality.

    Pros:
    – Fast aperture for excellent low-light performance and shallow depth of field control
    – Impressive image quality with sharpness, clarity, and accurate color reproduction
    – Solid build quality, often with weather sealing, for durability
    – Versatile lens suitable for a wide range of photography genres

    Cons:
    – None mentioned.

5 Sterne!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersQu onda con este lente?

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’m a real estate photographer and shoot a little bit of everything when I’m not working. I did a lot of research on 24-70mm & 28-70mm lenses before deciding on this one. While it is cheaper than the Sony brand version, you would never know this isn’t absolutely top of the line!

For one, this lens is HEAVY. And while I have gotten wrist pain from lenses before (where your wrist braces!) it feels high quality and sturdy. You can easily tell the difference between this lens and a cheaper, plastic bodied one. It’s also not too huge, since it expands when it zooms.

The autofocus and manual focus are top notch. I’ve gotten sharp photos with this, even at the largest aperture. Also, I can (almost) shoot it all! My main interior lens is a 12-24 f/4, so with that lens and this one, I’m covering 12-70 bases.

    Pros:
    High Quality
Cheaper than the Sony brandname one
    Sharp & quick focus
Expands when it zooms and withdraws into the lens when you zoom out (can’t think of the proper words)
Locks the zoom when not in use

    Cons:
    HEAVY (but worth it)
The lens hood is massive and a pain to pack when not in use
Haven’t used the Sony brandname, but know it’s probably slightly better than this

I almost went with the 28-70 after watching Mitch Lally’s Youtube videos, but here’s my reasoning for choosing this one:

    More zoom options
    Higher quality, built to last
    Sharpe

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe lens performs as expected and does not disappoint, just like reviews promised.

However, as I have recently learnt when I tried to register my lens for warranty with Sigma, Sigma does not provide warranty in Canada for lenses purchased through Amazon (according to information on Sigma’s Canadian website, their authorized importer here in Canada provides Canadian specific warranty and documentation for the lens).

Finally, judging by just a few hours walking around town with the lens attached to a camera being carried on a shoulder strap, I fear the soft touch plastic on the outside of the lens hood is not going to last long with all the rubbing against the clothes.
This problem did not need to exist; if only Sigma just left the outside of the lens hood smooth.

A fantastic lens at a good price. It seems expensive, but coming from the 28-70mm kit lens the difference is night and day.

The Sigma is razor sharp even wide open and gives a lovely image in camera. The constant 2.8 aperture is lovely, and some nice bokeh at all focal lengths.

It is a heavy lens, so have that in mind if you intend on sticking it on a gimbal. It’s not impossible, but changing the focal length extends the barrel and will throw off your balancing.

All around great lens. I don’t regret not getting the GM even a little bit. Well worth it.

An additional note: I bought this Used. The description was Like New, and I’m fairly sure it actually is brand new just with some damage to the box. Great bargain, so keep and eye out for the same.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent objectif ouverture constante F2.8.

So far the best lens I have in my collection, it rakes superb pictures and the quality is amazing. The only noticeable thing is that the lens is really heavy especially if you’re walking around taking shots. The auto focus is super quick and the variable focal range comes in hand a lot! But I would (if I had the chance) perhaps consider the tamron too. (Also I haven’t experienced this but major YouTubers do not talk about the infamous dust issue) for a 1k+ lens build quality is great but should not risk dust getting inside. I haven’t found it yet but I’m sure over time there will be

What I would like to point out is that if this is sold by technolove the lens is not an official UK import by Sigma, meaning you will be qualify for the 3 year free extended warranty they office. Its also next to impossible to get hold of them and ask them why this is the case.

Noticed a colour difference to the much cheaper Sony FE 1.8 lens. Totally different lens’ I get it but I love the Sigma lens.

The common dust issue is there and I’ve seen anneasy method to clean it if required. But shouldn’t have to go through all this trouble for an expensive lens. Been using it for a few months now, only one noticable dust spec but nothing damaging to photo’s…yet.

Absolutely recomment this lens for image quality and versatility. I’ve done event, car and architecture photography with this one. Perfect lens for all different situations.

Fehlfokus? Also mal den “Batterie-Test” gemacht.

Uno su tutti i 28mm minimi.
