I have a number of security locks on the doors at home, and the guarantee for these states that only silicon spray can be used on them – or the warranty is invalidated.
Using this every few weeks on these locks has clearly kept everything operational-but interestingly, lubricating other things with the spray (including sliding fittings for loft ladder et cetera) has greatly improved them as well.
One big advantage is there is no sticky residue, which often follows the use of normal oils
fyi: Weights – Ordered twin pack, and both 400 ml cans weighed 375g each (750g combined). Actual Amazon product description does say 780g combined for twin pack, and 380g for single.
Forum discussions suggest that 400ml is the can capacity; that most of the weight is the can and the propellant; that the contents (lubricant, and propellant) can have a different densities; that the actual amount of content (lubricant) is minimal. Can doesn’t say amount of lubricant, so, have no idea about actual lubricant amount supplied/ strength. I presume that there may be regulations which control amounts/ percentages? Similar aspects apply to all pressurised spray cans eg. paint sprays.

The caps are now RED – they used to be YELLOW. The cans of silicone & normal WD-40 are very similar so now, instead of it being easy, it’s REALLY HARD to distinguish between the two at a glance.
How annoying.
Despite this dumb design decision, this is till a five-star product though.
The product is easy to use. The additional flute to spray helps pin point narrow areas. Did the job for me so no complains.
Used it for sticky rubber seal on hatchback door of car. It’s less sticky on opening so far. Don’t know yet how long it will last before needing to reapply. Bit messy to apply (being a spray) so a silicone gel or similar might have been better. Might research that if / when I need to re-apply.
So easy to use and accurate with placement of oil.
Used this for my car in different places specially where rubber meets the matel. Found this excellent.
Used to get rid off squeaky front car windows, did the job with half a can so that’s definitely worth a 5 star review!
Great to use with anything that involves rubber or metal on fitness equipment – standard WD 40 will rot rubber btw! Used on a bowflex max trainer to treat a squeak that just wouldn’t go away, a few squirts of this and it was gone, found it brilliant for all sorts of applications!
I could only tick easy to use as the other categories’ don’t apply. I used it on bi-folds and will use in the future, it is the same product the installers used.
An excellent product that is very easy to use and the adjustable nozzle is perfect. Thank you
The ease of application using the two methods, one for a larger spray and the nozzle for a more concentrated controlled applicatio
I’ve used the standard WD40 spray for many applications over the years. I’d never tried the Silicon spray so I thought I would try it out. I have to say that I am impressed by the results. I bought it chiefly for freeing up PVC window and door hinges and locks. It has worked perfectly on all points. I even sprayed the lock on the PVC back door which gets used multiple times throughout the day and has been a continual source of irritation with the locking mechanism sticking and taking force to close and lock. I’d tried various products to free up the locking system but nothing worked particularly well and never lasted. I gave the key holes, handles and locking mechanism a good basting with this Silicon spray and wow it worked first time! The whole mechanism works smoothly and perfectly for the first time in years. I had contemplated getting a complete new locking mechanism. Thanks to 9.17 can of WD40 Silicon spray I’ve saved myself a lot of money and hassle.
I’ve also successfully used the spray to help drive out moister and protect a range of electrical fittings including a connector on an outside waste water pump fitting that had been shorting out.
I sprayed our metal curtain poles to ease the flow of metal curtain rings over the poles. The curtains have been sticking and snagging for a couple of years. I’d tried freeing things up by spraying the poles with various furniture polish sprays. These didn’t work well and failed after a couple of weeks. I sprayed the silicon onto a cloth and wiped the curtain poles over with the spray. The difference was immediate and lasting with the curtains rings now flowing freely and easily along each pole. I can actually close and open each curtain with one finger whereas before it took some effort even with two hands!
This spray has worked for every job I’ve used it on. In my experience and opinion this is an excellent product that can be used for wide range of applications.
Highly recommended and I will definitely be buying again!
