Good quality product for older kids or adults to fiddle with, however it’s definitely not up to the rigours of a 3 or 5 year olds games. It bends/gets out of shape quite easily.
It’s also slightly short to work on my in laws stairs but works well at my parents house.
Little bit shorter than I remember I’d go for the larger one next time
It was coiley, mesmerising, shiny, able to slink from high to low, hand to hand.
On stairs, not at all. Other high to low surfaces failed.
Bought a plastic no brand rainbow coloured jumbo one for my 4 year old grandson which he loves so thought I’d buy an original slinky made from metal to entertain my grandson under supervision. I eagerly opened it and tried it on my stairs, in a way I was reliving my childhood because I’d always wanted a slinky but lived in a bungalow as a child which obviously didn’t have stairs) unfortunately my stairs are not suited to the size of this slinky. It will not slink down them however or wherever on the stairs I place it. A step on my stairs measures very approximately 9″(22cm?) deep by 6 1/2″(16cm?). Maybe the slinky would walk down a narrower step but it doesn’t like my ones at all.
Well, what’s to say? It’s a slinky. The reason I bought one for myself was because I spend a lot of time at my computer programming/scripting so it’s nice to have something just to play around with while thinking. It’s a nice distraction too.
I did purposely try to find one that wasn’t the cheap plastic ones as I wanted one that probably wouldn’t break as easily, so I bought this one which is aluminium.
The one downside to it is that there is some “oil” between each coil. Although this doesn’t stain or anything, I thought it’s something that would’ve been removed from the manufacturing process. It could’ve just been mine. I’m sure a good soak in vinegar or some other cleaning fluid would remove it all anyway.
Best thing: It bounces down the stairs better than the plastic ones!
This is the original Slinky that works as it should, bought for a five year old grandson just after Christmas, to replace the one I bought for him at Christmas from a shop, which claimed to be able to loop itself down the stairs, but which disappointingly did nothing of the sort, just remained sulkily on one stair and, if nudged, simply collapsed and fell over. This Slinky by Flair is great fun for children and adults. It’s just like the slinkies we bought for our children when they were small. However, it can become unusable if stretched by an over-enthusiastic four-year-old boy who likes to pull things apart, so if you have a boy like that, keep it out of reach when not supervised!
