Small and very portable!
Visually, it looks amazing and it’s small and portable. It connected easily and I hope the battery holds up well as I haven’t had much of a chance to try it, if it doesn’t I’ll write another review.

Very handy little device that’s very easy to set up. Easy to receive contactless/chip and pin payments. Very useful if you have a small business! Very good value for the money!!

Ordered this for payments in my business.
After installing app on my phone I went through a verification process which the app warned might take 72 hours.
After 72 hours the app disappeared.
Called the app up in playstore again, which provided new app for update. But this had no record of myaccount set up from a few days before.
Tried to install new account. This does not recognise device, but offers mareting services (unwanted) and insists on debiting for a new device.
Unable to contact Square on their website to sort . Therefore uninstalled from my phone.
I’ve had no use of device so am returning.
In the cashless society we are now living in this little handy card reader is a gem.
It’s really simple to set-up with your bank account and one of its’ best attributes is the lack of having to pay a monthly subscription to use it. You just pay a small fee for every transaction you put through it. Basically you only pay when you use it. It’s proven its worth at a couple of car-boot sales with quite a number of the stall holders now using these card readers.
Crafters/stallholders contactless payments quick and easy
I have thought about contactless payments for a long while as we only offered cash sales up until recently. I found at fundays/Fayres/charity events general stalls that l held l was losing some sales as every event l am asked if we take card payment. I thought it would be complicated to set up but absolutely not straight forward and quick too. I also thought would it be worth the tiny fee but overall losing a sale is far more than what it costs and this is a Pay as you go option.
Excellent value, I struggle with setting up anything IT wise but this was very easy with simple instructions anyone can follow, all you need to do is download the square app, link a payment card and then link this device to your phone (takes ten minutes to link when first purchased), very happy, great for small businesses starting out – would highly recommend
Easy to set up
I expected this card reader to be harder to set up. Just read the instructions and download the app, follow the tutorial and it is easy. I just hope it works as well in the outside world. I will update this review if it is not.
I purchased this to use in our greenhouse in the spring. We had the ipad stand with the card swipe at the bottom. Sometimes it was difficult to swipe cards, sometimes the cards did not go through – our location is in a valley and it seemed the weather was a factor on how quickly transactions went through. After starting to use this device, talk about much quicker transactions! A tap payment was crazy fast, chip a bit slower but very fast! It does not come with the dock, I purchased that separately. You can use without the dock, and in our situation it was probably better without it b/c we could go outside with ipad, select items and have customers tap/insert card without having them come back inside greenhouse for payment. But once I installed the dock, I was unable to get the device out of it, I actually sliced my finger trying to remove it, so it stayed in the dock! Overall a good purchase and made our transactions much easier!
I’m fairly technical but setting this up was far more of a hassle than I felt it should be. And it seemed to lose connection between the phone and reader a lot during that time. However, once in situ and I used it to actually take sales, it worked very well. Yes, needed a few moments to connect again to my phone if it was ‘hibernating’ but always found it fine.
Set up issues
Verification wasn’t easy but customer services were very helpful via the online chat. Its worth having patience with this little device.
I like the app and online interface. I havent used it yet but will update my view when I see it how it performs.
