One of my go-to names in tools, Stanley, have done it again with a top-rate quality pair of tin sheers/snips

They are comfortable to holod with little handle extensions sticking our so your hand doesn’t slip down during cutting, thereby protecting your fingers. I like the catch design as you don’t need to release it to cut, simply grip the handles together to release the blades. Not quite like a hot knife throughh butter, buy pretty close.

    Highly recommended

One of the standout features of the Stanley Aviation Snips is their cutting precision. The straight-cut design allows for clean and accurate cuts in a variety of materials, including sheet metal, aluminum, vinyl siding, and more. The sharp, heat-treated blades deliver excellent cutting performance, ensuring smooth and precise results every time. Whether you’re working on a construction project or tackling metalworking tasks, these snips provide reliable and consistent cutting performance.

The snips’ build quality is remarkable. The blades are crafted from high-quality steel, which ensures durability and longevity. They can withstand heavy use and resist wear, maintaining their sharpness for extended periods. The robust construction of the snips enhances their overall stability and gives them a solid feel in hand, inspiring confidence during cutting operations.

The ergonomic design of the Stanley Aviation Snips contributes to their user-friendly nature. The comfortable handle with a non-slip grip provides excellent control and reduces hand fatigue, even during prolonged use. The snips’ compact size allows for maneuverability in tight spaces and facilitates easy storage when not in use.

The spring-loaded mechanism of the snips enhances their efficiency and ease of use. The self-opening action reduces the effort required for repetitive cutting tasks, allowing for increased productivity and reduced strain on the hand and wrist. The locking mechanism keeps the blades securely closed when not in use, ensuring safe storage and preventing accidental cuts. I would highly recommend as I am happy to add this to my toolbox.

Sturdy and not to heavy easy to cut. I used them to cut down a cooker hood ‘chimney’ that was a couple of inches to tall. Cut through the metal no problem

What I liked about the cutters, is the quality of the item, the way it feels in my hand, the way it’s coloured “Stanley’s” and the eas with which the way it cuts through the steel sheeting ,very nice a job made easy . Dislike none as of yet .

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI like stanley tools – they represent good value for money and enable you to equip the tool box with tools that will last without breaking the bank. I bought these to trim some lead to use as gate post tops and they worked great. They do cut naturally in a curve – I’d have preferred something that cuts straight, but you can work around it and overall I’m pleased with them. Because of the curved cut problem – I’ve gone for 4 out of 5 stars

I purchased these snips for cutting 9mm wide strip for hose clamps. I was pleasantly surprised at just how good they are. There are very fine serrations on the blade prevent slippage, and they cut through the strip (almost) like a knife through butter. It is easy to get the cut exactly where and at the engle required and they leave no distortion in the material. I have since used them to cut through both inner and outer solid core bowden cables with no problem. I am pleased with this purchase

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI bought these to cut 0.6mm carbon steel feeler gauge; it’s seriously tough stuff to get through. I’d resorted to using a pair of heavy duty wire rope cutters which obviously made a total mess of the edges. These Stanley snips cut straight through it with the same ease that a pair of scissors cuts cardboard. The serated blades hold the metal in place and cut so well that I need only one hand to do the squeezing. The edge they leave is remarkably neat, you can see the serrations but it’s by no means messy and they’re fine enough to quickly neaten up if you need to.

The curved design of the blades makes them more effective but you do have to watch out you don’t bend the metal on longer cuts. Other than that, these snips have exceeded my expectations; I don’t know how they’ll hold up over time but they’re a good quality tool and for around a tenner they’re great value.

So if you’re wondering if they’ll cut your copper/aluminium/brass/steel sheeting, then the answer is most probably yes. Unless it’s extremely thick or hardened these snips will do the job and you’ll probably be surprised how easily they do it.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersIve never used snips before – ever, I was told these were what id need for my intended job, cutting a metal frame topping of hardwood blinds.
I was a little concerned these may not be up to the job, but went ahead with the order despite my niggling worries.
Upon delivery and first inspection I was very surprised and pleased with the quality of the item, but still had my concerns.
After measuring up the area id need to trim off the blind headers, these exceed ALL of my expectations, like a hot knife through butter, simply amazing!
Providing a nice clean straight cut with very little effort, I can only say, they have pride of place in my toolbox.
Im not a mad DIY freak, but do prefer to buy a half decent branded item rather than cheap tat, and am so glad I opted to spend a few quid more on these, rather than a cheap pair from a certain auction website, I do take a pride in doing the best job I feel I am capable of,

These proved my initial worries totally wrong, i couldnt be any more pleased – id leave more stars if I could!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThese are good sturdy aviation snips, but when I was using them today, it occurred to me that, given their symmetrical design and the fact that they are held together with nuts and bolts rather than rivets, it would be quite easy to convert them for left-handed use, i.e. to have the securing clip and the heads of the bolts on the inner side when the snips are held in the left hand. So I gave it a go, and yes, this works (see photo). You simply need to undo the three bolts holding the handles together and the handles onto the jaws, flip everything over, put it all together again, and then revel in the delicious luxury of having everything on the right side for once! It should only take about ten minutes, and seriously, it’s not until you do something like this that you realise, as a left-hander, how accustomed you are to having to work round things being set up wrongly for you.

Some tips for anyone who fancies giving this a go:

The top pivot bolt holding the jaws together can’t be swapped round, since the jaw on the nut side is threaded to lock onto the nut.

Since Stanley is an American brand, the nuts are AF, so you will need a 3/8″ spanner or socket (or a good adjustable) to undo the nuts.

When reassembling, do the handle pivot bolt which goes through the spring first, otherwise it’s really tricky to compress the spring and insert this pivot bolt at the same time.

Now to go and look for my left-handed screwdrivers 😉
