The Steinel Multi-Lens
The reach is adjustable to 12 m or 5 m by tilting the multi-lens. Additionally, the detection zone can be reduced and adapted to the specific conditions by fitting the provided shrouds.
Heat Radiation
Due to their body temperature humans radiate heat. Infrared technology uses this radiation to detect motion and to react accordingly.
The Way it Works
The heart of this technology is the so called pyrosensor. This electronic module reacts to any changes in the infrared heat radiation within its detection zone, for example when a person enters the zone of detection. This causes a voltage jump, which then is transformed into an electronic impulse, which switches the light on and off.
Reach
The reach of infrared sensors depends on the direction of movement. With tangential movements (parallel to the sensor) the reach is about 12 m on average, which is shortened when moving directly towards the sensor (radial movement). To attain the maximum reach the optimal mounting height of 2 m should be given.

Bon rapport qualité/performance/prix
Le dtecteur, pos environ 2,5 m est assez sensible et se dclenche au passage des chats mais je n’ai pas encore tent de modifier les rglages. Simple brancher il semble tout de mme assez lger, voir dans le temps s’il tiendra face aux intempries. Sur une faade en pierre il reste discret grce sa couleur noire.
Rapport qualit/performance/prix plutt bon.

Das einstellen der Durchschaltzeit war aber etwas nervig. Man kann 5sec – 15 minuten stufenlos einstellen.
Allerdings ist das einstellrdchen stufenlos und es gibt keine angaben von irgendetwas. man kann also nur “ungefhr 3 minuten” einstellen eine hilfskala das man sich besser orientieren kann gibt es auch nicht.
Hab etwa 2std gebraucht um die gewnschte zeit einzustellen. Denn mal ging das licht gar nicht aus wenn ich davor stand und wartete. Obwohl es taghell war und ich die helligkeitseinstellung komplett auf nacht gedreht hatte und mal ging es aus obwohl ich davor stand. Iwie irritierend.
Der ganze anschluss inkl. Montage hat keine 5 minuten gedauert…..
Jwtzt funktioniert es wie gewnscht. Wie gesagt. Wenn man beim einstellen der leuchtzeit etwas schmerzfreier ist gehts vll. Schneller. Ich wollte halt genau 3- 3,5 minuten.
Perfek
Ich kaufe nur Bewegungsmelder dieser Marke, da es einfach die besten sind. Sie lassen sich einfach installieren und sind hochwertig verarbeitet. Die Funktion ist auch besser als alles, was ich sonst eingebaut habe.
Enfin, un qui fonctionne !
Aprs avoir us des dtecteurs plus ou moins bon march, qui s’allument quand une branche bouge ou parfois pour rien, dont la tempo n’est pas fiable ou carrment qui ne fonctionnent plus au bout de quelques annes, celui-ci semble tre le bon.
Alors, certes, il est deux trois fois plus cher, mais il fait le boulot. En revanche, le systme de fixation, de branchement et d’ouverture sont revoir. D’autres font mieux avec un socle spar et une liaison par connecteur…
Nie wieder im Dunkeln tappe
Ich habe den Steinel Bewegungsmelder IS 180-2 in der Farbe Anthrazit gekauft und bin sehr zufrieden mit meinem Kauf. Der Bewegungsmelder ist sehr einfach zu installieren und kann sowohl im Innen- als auch im Auenbereich verwendet werden.
Ich habe ihn drauen an meiner Haustr installiert, um einen zustzlichen Sicherheitsaspekt zu schaffen. Der Bewegungsmelder hat einen Erfassungswinkel von 180 Grad und kann Bewegungen in einem Bereich von bis zu 12 Metern erkennen. Er ist auerdem mit einem Dmmerungssensor ausgestattet, der die Helligkeit automatisch anpasst, je nachdem, wie hell oder dunkel es drauen ist.
Der Bewegungsmelder funktioniert einwandfrei und hat mich noch nie im Stich gelassen. Ich fhle mich sicherer, wenn ich wei, dass der Bewegungsmelder aktiv ist und mich vor potenziellen Eindringlingen warnen wrde.
Ein weiteres groartiges Merkmal des Steinel Bewegungsmelders IS 180-2 ist seine Anpassungsfhigkeit. Es gibt drei verschiedene Einstellungsmglichkeiten, um die Empfindlichkeit und die Zeitdauer einzustellen, in der das Licht nach der Bewegungserkennung eingeschaltet bleibt. Ich habe die Einstellungen auf meine persnlichen Bedrfnisse angepasst und bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis.
Zusammenfassend kann ich sagen, dass der Steinel Bewegungsmelder IS 180-2 ein groartiges Produkt ist. Er ist einfach zu installieren, funktioniert einwandfrei und bietet ein hohes Ma an Sicherheit. Wenn Sie auf der Suche nach einem zuverlssigen und anpassungsfhigen Bewegungsmelder sind, sollten Sie den Steinel IS 180-2 in Betracht ziehen.
Good but does fail after a few years
I couldn’t work out why my outside lights kept tripping so just left them off, until I chanced on some of the reviews of this PIR I was using and realised it could be the cause, so took a chance and ordered a new one, replaced it and hey presto all working again.
This was after 5 years. So, regard as something that will need replacing every few years and judge it on that – it’s not cheap but it does a great job while it lasts…

Installazione semplice. Sul rilevamento “orizzontale” nulla da eccepire, installato sopra porta di ingresso copre perfettamente sotto e la linea della parete destra-sinistra con un angolo di 180 grosso modo alla distanza dichiarata. Non saprei dire la distanza coperta frontalmente, ho un muretto perimetrale a 4-5m di fronte alla porta.

Bin soweit ganz zufrieden. Man kann der Erfassungsbereich einstellen zwischen 12m und 5m. Dazu muss die “Kugel” entsprechend gedreht werden. Bisher werden Bewegung zuverlssig erkannt. Silberne Farbe passt gut zu hellgrauen Farbanstrich.

This is a very nice compact unit that works exactly as it should.
It’s simple to fit and wire, although this should in reality be done by a qualified electrician or non-electrician with Part-P qualifications.
The detection range is consistent with a unit of this type, without any nuisance switching which can happen from time to time. The settings are easy to adjust and test.

Bit Pricey but Good
Came with optional brackets for various fixing situationsb a corner mount bracket, extended spacer back plate with clearance for cables behind the unit. Easy to wire and adjust settings. Works as expected.
Overall good build quality but slightly pricey in my opinion. It does look nicer with is faux brushed black nickel finish compared to other PIR sensors.
Great sensor
Covers a large area 10m deep by 20m wide garden and all is covered any movement even in corners is picks and lights come on. Movement is also detected as soon as you walk around either corner of the house 5-6 meters on either side so is full 180 degrees
Only thing I could find on the negative side is there isn’t a great deal of space for wiring but this seems to be an issue with many modern outdoor light, I’ve seen a lot worse
Quality PIR senso
Quality product. Well constructed with lots of installation options. Instructions are clear and detailed. Works from two different ranges depending on how you install the lens cover. Comes with shield material you can cut to size to limit the beam angle. Quality screws and rawlplugs included. Very wide (180 degree) activation angle.
Replacement sensor.
This was used as a replacement for my old 180-2 sensor which had become faulty after 7 years. It is used to activate a porch light and was easy to install as all the electrical work had already been in place.
Funciona perfectament. En substitueix un altre d’exactament igual, comprat ja fa uns anys i que va deixar de funcionar. Si alguna cosa en destacaria, s que sembla fora ms sensible i rpid que el seu germ difunt al qual ha substitut; possiblement n’hagin millorat l’electrnica amb el pas dels anys. Molt satisfet.

I spent a long time investigating motion sensors and decided to go for this model as it came with a 3 year warranty and looked straight forward to install. A bit on the expensive side. It took a couple of hours to fit, the secret is to wire the sensor on a bench (easy to handle) then feeding the cables through the wall to a junction box x 2. One for feed and the other to the lights. I have 2 outdoor LEDs lights feeding from this and the adjustment settings easy to work out. So far so good works great.
Ya conocia esta marca y este modelo, lo tuve hace tiempo y quede maravillado, me duro muchos aos, mi error fue comprar uno barato cuando se me estropeo, me duro unas semanas; por eso me e decidido a comprar el mismo aunque sea un poco caro, por que compensa a la larga.
Lo recomiendo con la mano en el corazn a cualquier persona que quiera poner un sensor en el exterior.

This is the third one of these sensors that I’ve had. They work well but the previous two have eventually failed after maybe 5 years. The location they are installed in renders them vulnerable to ingress by woodlice and slugs, and the damp and muck they bring with them. This time I’ve sealed it with silicone so hopefully I won’t have the same problem again!

This is a very good product. This replaces one that had been in use for over ten years, which seems reasonable. They are quite expensive but are well worth the money. Coverage is good, 6 or 12 yards (the choice is yours) and both the starting time and the duration of the light are adjustable, they are very sensitive and work well. For once the fixing instructions are very clear – they are German not Chinese. Definitely recommended.
Sensore Perfetto
Credo che non esista di meglio nel settore dei rilevatori di movimento, perfetto e copre realmente l’angolo di 180 grandi, inoltre mi vede a una distanza di circa 15 metri. La cosa fantastica, che manca a moltissimi sensori, il fatto che “vede” anche sotto di lui. Lo rende perfetto per praticamente tutti gli utilizzi immaginabili. Ne comprer presto un’altro.
The same Steinel quality I have come across before. A little expensive but I expect it will last longer and perform better than cheaper products.
This model has two settings, a 5m semi-circle which works perfectly and a 12m setting of a more complex sensor “shape” illustrated in the manual. The result of the “shape” is that it is not 12m head on and I have found it difficult to selectively mask the 45deg 12m peaks against unwanted detection. I’m not criticising that characteristic as it is described in the manual but it needs to be understood if a 12m range is wanted.
If an 8m semi-circle would suit consider this model… Steinel IS2180-5 Motion Detector, Black (which, unlike the reviewed model, has a manual over-ride feature)
One thing I will knock a star off for in the hope that Steinel will address the issue is that every time I remove the cover on all my Steinels, necessary to adjust settings and I agree with enclosed adjustment, the plastic mask pieces fall out, usually to the ground.

Excellent sensor, quite expensive but in this case you definitely get what you pay for! I bought this to replace an also new but cheaper sensor which I was not entirely happy with on newly installed security lighting system and what a difference it has made. The Steinel is so much more sensitive, sharp and precise and fills me with complete confidence.I would highly recommend this product if performance and reliability is important !!
Does the job very well
Does what it says on the tin. Very simple to install – especially if you’re replacing an identical one! The old one lasted almost 7 years – not bad going for an externally mounted device.
