Great product at cheap price!
It works perfectly as it should. With the app, you can be notified about any motion or person. It also detects baby crying, so great for monitoring babies. It covers an wide angle. The quality of the video is great too. It has privacy feature, so you can hide certain parts of the video to not be recorded. I am loving it. 100% recommended.
Surpassed expectation!
The camera is great. Mic and audio work well clear enough for an entry level WiFi camera. Has good features too, without added charges such as privacy zones. Away/home mode etc.
TapoCare can get expensive, which is required for the cloud storage and extra features but SD cards can be used to record motion detection times and person detection times (sold separately). There is no built in storage at all. Cloud or SD card only.
Connection to WiFi was easy. Much quicker than most devices like this and the mobile app is brilliant on both a new Samsung S23 and older Samsung S10. Allowing upto 32 cameras to be easily added and operated from the same app.
Picture quality on the 2k cam is really good. I’m very impressed with the night vision too.
Fanastic for live stream and sd card recording 24/7.
Like:
>It is a 3mp video picture and very well priced on deal.
>App for live streaming camera is great. You can watch 1 and easily flick the screen to the other cameras if you have them. You can also set up a 4 way stream, showing all 4 cameras on 1 screen. I you have more, a flick of the screen give you the other 4.
>You can zoom the screen (not the camera) and position to find best view, on the app.
>Night infra red works well (will show two red lights though when in use).
>All lights and notifications and motion detection on the camera can be turned off, on the app.
Dislike:
>Setting up. On initial use the camera will light up and also say things through the microphone. “Connection established” … *exclusive tapo trademark sound*…”pairing complete”. So make sure to set it up on the app first initially beforehand, if you are worried about giving away the location to non-understanding neighbours.
>After the pairing it said on the app “error”. But I closed the screen, went back to the tapo homepage, waited a few minutes, and it appeared working normally.
>Each camera must be updated individually, at least initially after it appears on the homescreen after pairing (eventually).
>The cloud tapo service only records if you set up tracking/notifications and will not record 24/7. The price point increases from 3/month for 1 camera, 6/month for 3…. then 7/month for 10!? So they sell them with a 5% discount for 4 cameras then grab an extra pound from you like that hehe. bad.
>For me, the tracking and notifications couldn’t work properly and I assume they must be close to camera.
>Sometimes, perhaps once a day, connection can drop and sometimes it starts lagging until you restart it.
Overall: It’s great for the price while on deal at 20. Hard pressed to find better. The other models at 4MP and twirling around and up and down and not returning to the original positions were not the most pleasing for price. I notice hardly any better picture from 3MP>4MP. 3MP minimum is great enough. If 5MP+ comes out and at good price then I’d upgrade. Reading registration plates usually requires upwards of 8MP unless you are right on ground level in front of road with no garden, then 5MP might be work for that. and actual camera zoom not app zooming.
Very impressive and great value
Bought this as the Eufy external system I have is so unreliable. The camera points out of the window and the image is excellent quality. I turn off the IR option so it even provides a great picture at night. The detection is excellent and accurate and the app is also easy to use. Amazing value
I bought this to overlook the front of the house and driveway from an upstairs window. It’s a neat, small and discreet unit and was ver easy to set up through the app, i was able to work it all out without needing any real instructions.
I bought the bundle with the 128gb SD card. By current calculations with round the clock recording on 1080p, this will use about 10gb per 24 hours so roughly 10-12 days of recording before it starts to record over itself. I haven’t checked yet to see what the 2k recording uses, but will try that at some point. I found it very simple to set up the custom notification area for the camera, I only want to know about people on the driveway and not just passing by. So far this has given me accurate notifications and the app presents these notification episodes separately so it’s very easy to go in and review that specific section. You can also scroll through the whole day of footage to your own specific points, this is all made very easy. The daytime view is very clear. I did have to turn off the night vision mode as otherwise you just see a reflection of the camera in the window. We have a streetlight outside the property that provides enough ambient light to give a pretty clear picture without night vision, and also a security light that would trigger if anyone steps on the driveway.
All in all, I’m impressed with this little camera. I can’t honestly think of anything that it could do better than it already is!
Great video quality, fast viewing using app and reliable
I recently purchased this camera, and I’m impressed with its performance and features. The setup was incredibly easy as no separate hub is required, making it compatible with any Wi-Fi router. The 3MP high-definition resolution ensures clear, sharp images, even during night vision, which works perfectly up to 30 feet. The two-way audio is a great feature, allowing me to communicate with my family when I’m away.
I appreciate the motion detection and custom activity zones, which send instant notifications to my phone whenever movement is detected. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can monitor specific areas of my home. The SD storage is another bonus, supporting up to 256GB, although you’ll need to purchase the Micro SD card separately.
The Tapo Care service is worth exploring, especially with the 30-day free trial. It offers cloud video storage and advanced functions, and the trial period gives you ample time to decide if it’s worth subscribing.
A quick tip: If you experience any wireless connection issues, make sure to set up the camera near the main router to avoid interference. Also, updating the Tapo app and camera firmware before and after setup helps prevent disconnection problems.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with this camera. Just note that the packaging may vary. Highly recommend!”
Easy, cheap and good quality, ticks all 3 boxes, no hub required just your own WiFi, good high quality picture, using it as a baby monitor, notifications are accurate for movement, and cry detection, no subscription required as you can just insert an sd card, perfect, will likely buy more
A good camera system
Small light and easy to use with a good app.
Fitting and a fixing sticker in box, nice long power cable included with wall adapter.
Great picture ok sound has a iCloud subscription available or just pop in a Sd card for local storage.
Local storage means you can review footage when not at home and if needed down load stills or clip videos of incidents.
Runs of WiFi snx you can run a few or mix and match different tapo models.
Great product 5 stars
Useful little Security camera
From my experience using the Tapo 2K Indoor Security Camera extensively over a good amount of time, I can confidently say it’s a great camera for home security. Its seamless setup and intuitive operation make it accessible for anyone, the suggestion of 2K resolution is a little bit far fetched the camera does produce clear footage.
I recommend the reliability and performance, making it a useful addition to any home security setup. Highly recommended for its consistent performance and ease of use.
Very happy with my purchase
Brilliant little camera
Got this so I could check in on my foster dog when I need to leave him home alone for short periods its perfect as it stops me stressing about him as I can see he’s settled
I purchased this camera to add to my ever-growing collection of Tapo, or for that matter my wider collection of Smart Devices. First thing I want to say is that this is an impressive little camera considering the price (when not raised to later be dropped for a deal). The picture Quality is very good when viewed on a phone with it set to 2k, it remains good when viewed on a 1080p TV screen (via Firestick) or device with similar screen resolution. There is a slot for a Micro SD card which removes the need for it to be connected to a hub, set up in the Tapo app and subsequently with Alexa to view on Alexa enabled devices is straight forward. I have used a 128GB Micro SD Card and this seems to be more than adequate, as numerous recordings have not used large amounts of space. Especially as the recordings can be set on a loop or individual recordings can be downloaded and the SD card formatted if needed, and even set with recordings to loop it’s possible to see how much space is used and free. While on the subject of space usage, its worth mentioning the motion/people sensors in this camera are very sensitive even at the low setting and can occasionally trigger even when you can’t see why.
If your intention is to use this as an indoor camera to monitor inside your home, I think you will probably be satisfied with this Camera, and it comes with a decent length power adapter cable. However, my intention was to use it as an indoor camera facing out from my window, and here I found a couple of issues. The first was that the mount for this camera involves the positioning of a couple of screws to slot the base onto, the problem with this is that I could not position the screws in a way that made possible to slot the base into the position I wanted. I overcame this issue with a 3M adhesive pad (surprisingly not include, as most smart devices come with Screws and 3M Adhesive Pads, which is why I have some, but they can be purchased easily).
The Second issue for me is the Night Vision which appears to only be black and white, not in colour. It also presented another issue for me, in that when the camera is set to Night Vision or Auto, and facing out of a window the view from the camera at night is of the reflection of the built-in lights on the window, rendering night vision useless. However, if you set the camera to Day Vision permanently, street lights or ambient light at night will be sufficient in most cases to monitor what is happening in front of the camera (and not the reflection in the window) in colour, but obviously not as sharp or clear as in day light. It’s worth noting that while Day Vision works at night, the more light the better, it will not work if there is no light.
In summary this really is a reasonably priced good quality little security camera that will work well when used to monitor your home, pets, etc., from another location. The issues I have had are because I’m using an indoor camera to monitor outside, which is not the intended use for this camera. That said it still does what I want it to do, albeit with a work around or two on my part.
Great and easy to install
Got a few of these cameras for around my house. Theyre easy to install and work really well. The sound quality received through the camera isn’t the best but it’s more than good enough. The night vision is great and you can easily see my whole garden in complete darkness. It would recommend this product to anyone who is look for an easy to install, feature rich camera that does everything that the more expensive brands does and more.
It does work well
I have several cctv cameras with a dvr recorder and while they work well I wanted a stand alone camera that I could view and check my property when I am away from home. This works very well and I can pan, tilt and zoom the camera to cover an area of the property that I want to view. It was set up in minutes and easy to get the hang of. I will probably buy more as they are a lot better than the fixed cameras. The picture quality is good and very useful for picking up car reg plates.
Another reliable tapo device
We installed this camera to monitor our new furry companion and found it easy to setup and install using the tapo app.
As with our other tapo cameras, we did note that the app can sometimes state towards the end of setup that the camera wasn’t added when in fact it was. No idea why we have had this with several models but it never stops the camera setup process from completing.
Once installed, the app makes configuration and use relatively easy. You can opt in to cloud storage using tapo care but we have found a decent sized sd storage card (sold separately) is more than sufficient for most video storage and does not require a monthly subscription to use.
Overall, very happy with it and a nice addition to our tapo camera collection.
Tapo outside camera
I got this camera for the outside of my house as I already have seven Tapo cameras inside and outside my home, however I was placing this camera further away from y Wi-Fi box and therefore had difficulty getting the reception I required. I moved it to the back of my home and it works fine am giving it a four star because I couldn’t get a good reception in the first place. That said I now have eight Tapo cameras and am very pleased with them
I can check them on my phone when am out or away for the weekend.
Very happy
Bought one of these from Amazon and found it did everything it said and very well. Fabulous to be able to get this kind of camera without the exorbitant subscription costs of most others. It was on offer at the time but not when I came back for more. In the event I bought another two direct from Tapo at better than the Amazon offer price. Using inside with all the various lights turned off, through the window at the front of the house. A bit dark at night but fine when my security light comes on.
Tapo know their stuff.
We’ve purchased 2 Tapo cameras and so far we’re really pleased, the installation was very straightforward, as long as you can get power to where you want them. Image quality is excellent, you can save directly to an SD card or subscribe to a cloud service, either way you can access the streams from a mobile app, Android or iPhone.
I would highly recommend, and would purchase additional Tapo products.
Good for the money
Bought one of these just to test as a cheap pan and tilt camera , was quite impressed at the picture quality and have decided this camera is well suited to being used for a back garden or a front garden that isnt passed by cars who`s headlights reflect on objects / cars in the in their path, reason for this is the motion detection see`s this movement and makes the camera follow it, once outside of the preset detection area it will continue to follow it until it stops seeing any movement, then after a minimum of two minutes it will return to its default( set by you) position, anything that moves will be looked at….. my porch light seemed to be a favourite ,if you just leave person detection on and turn motion detection off it also turns off pan and tilt off so the camera wont follow the person ,AI seems to be lacking but overall very good for the price for the quality.
Easy to use and set-up
Purchased one of these the day before going away on holiday. Very easy to setup, when it works, as I Purchased one for my dad and had issues getting it connected, so returned and replaced and the new one worked.. You can only have 1 login, so I’m the one with access in our house as husband couldn’t connect, not too sure of this is a good or bad thing, good for security that someone else can’t just set login, but bad if husband needs access if I’m not about.
Quality ok, for the cost and peace of mind well worth it and super fast delivery by amazon
Good it picks up on sound as used it for checking on our elderly cat, who shouts a lot. And to make sure my elderly dad was remembering to go round and feed her.
Great indoor cam.
I am using this camera on the main entrance and it is very clear. & has never dropped connection since installed. It can record on sd card, cloud and NVRs like synology surveillance station. The only problem I have with this indoor camera is that, although the status led in the front and Infrared lights can be switched off , there is a small white light that can’t be switched off. It flickers continuously. If you need to view from behind the window at night, you need to turn off the infrared by switching the camera to day mode.overall, this is a great product.
This is the second Tapo camera I have purchased from Amazon, having got sick to death with the limited functionality of other cameras which require a monthly cloud subscription.
This Tapo camera – just like the indoor one I purchased – has excellent quality and lets you download any footage – manual, scheduled or motion-triggered – directly to your phone; you do not need to go via a paid cloud subscription to does this. NOTE: As it’s not clear how do do this, use the scissor icon on video that has been recorded via a scheduled record; you can then download it too to your phone. Footage from “motion detection” will automatically appear on the download page.
The camera is also a proper “IP camera” and can be used with any third-party CCTV application (ispy, AgentDVR, Blue Iris, etc.); just select its IP address and configure it automatically as an ONVIF compatible camera. Many other cameras – like the ieGeek ones – are completely locked down and can’t be used this way, once again limiting your options and forcing you to stump-up continuously for their cloud service.
The Tapo phone software is flexible and easy to use, some of the best I’ve seen from security camera manufacturers.
I highly recommend any of the Tapo outdoor or indoor cameras. Fantastic value for the money.
Perfect dog cam
Purchased for the first few days of welcoming our puppy home, really good night vision and quality for the price. Tilt worked well and quickly live streamed to the pup when away from home.
It’s great just buy i
Great camera and app superb video quality wait for special offers as the price varies and you will want more than one. Don’t forget a memory card watch out fitting is fiddly and you could lose the screws so do it on the kitchen table
Good quality for the price.
This is the 3rd tapo camera I have bought, for the price you can’t really argue. Very easy to install and setup – if you are practically minded. This camera was for another family member and gives a bit of reassurance during the dark winter months and a deterrent to potential scallywags.
Impressed by picture quality and ease of use
This little indoor security camera is an absolute bargain, really good 2K picture quality and so easy to set up and get going straight out of the box. The Tapo app is intuitive and after 5 minutes getting familiar with it I find it very easy to use. Bought this as a bit of additional indoor security to compliment my outdoor camera system. My Intended use is only for when I’m out of the house.
Good for watching the dogs.
Bought for watching dogs when I’m out as they’ve got bad separation anxiety. As long as I’ve got a phone signal, I can open the tapo app and watch them. I can even talk to them over the camera. Funny the first few times talking to them because they didn’t know where I was. Makes me feel better that I can check as and when I need. Connected to the app really easy and easy to set up the pan and tilt so I can move it around depending on where the dogs are in the room.
Cameras are good but company is crap
Cameras good , the company though are crap , even with a two step verification to a phone without internet I was still hacked six times, which also meant knew cameras .
Tried to talk to company not interested in fact took one years subscription and so I just did it monthly in the end good job I did because they did nothing.
Talked to someone who called themselves Ice Talibon wouldn’t do anything to help would be very cautious about using them especially when monitoring your children and home.
Easy to set up and along with the Tapo app you’ll be amazed with the results. Once you’ve navigated the settings, bought the SIM cards and decided where you want the cameras you’ll be able to live the life of being far too nosey. I keep adding cameras around the house without telling the Mrs, not ideal for a long time relationship but hey ho.
You’re able to save incidents and play them back at parties or in the pub with your mates. I have few gigabytes of movies involving our cats and the hi jinks they get up to. Fights, being sick and eating wildlife hostages really captures the imagination, be it the cats or the Mrs and our friends.
If the police ever need to release a recording you’re guaranteed the comments you’ll get regards clarity and movie like presentations. Much better than the CCTV you watch from retail outlets, and to think they paid thousands for a system. Their purchasing departments all need to be sacked!
I have 7 cameras and can use the indoor ones outside. A bit of tape and they’re waterproof without any detrimental effect to sound and vision. The ability to use the camera’s inbuilt speaker is a must for scaring the gardeners and window cleaner, etc.
It says you need an Amazon product to use with them but I shouldn’t bother as the sellers app is ideal.
I really am quite amazed as to how good these are.
Great but one problem
I have the indoor Tapo camera’s as well as this outdoor one. And on both I find they are very light sensitive, and sends false notifications very often. This outdoor one I have on the front of my driveway, but at night when cars go past, just the light from their headlights set of the motion or area intrusion. The camera is not even facing on the road, just the light does this. I have tried all the settings, even turning the sensitivity down to 1. And in the Summer, if the sunlight is strong, that can do the same thing. It can be annoying getting so many notifications.
The Tapo 2K Indoor Security Camera has become an invaluable addition to my home, offering a range of features that go far beyond traditional security cameras. Its versatility as a baby monitor, pet camera, and motion detector make it a multifaceted tool that brings peace of mind and convenience to my daily life.
Pros:
Crystal Clear Imaging: The camera’s 2K resolution provides remarkably sharp and detailed footage. Whether I’m monitoring my baby, checking on my pets, or keeping an eye on my home, the clarity is outstanding.
Wide Field of View: The camera’s wide-angle lens ensures that I can capture a large area with a single camera. This is particularly useful for monitoring spacious rooms or multiple areas at once.
Smart Motion Detection: The motion detection feature is incredibly intuitive and reliable. It accurately identifies movement and sends timely alerts to my device, allowing me to respond promptly to any activity.
Two-Way Audio: The ability to communicate through the camera is a game-changer. Whether it’s soothing my baby, talking to my pets, or addressing a visitor, the two-way audio function provides clear and reliable communication.
Night Vision Capability: The camera’s night vision is impressive, providing clear footage even in low-light or completely dark environments. This ensures uninterrupted monitoring around the clock.
Cons:
App Interface Could Be Enhanced: While functional, the app’s user interface could benefit from a more intuitive design. Streamlining the navigation and settings would further enhance the user experience.
Requires Stable Wi-Fi Connection: Like all smart devices, the camera relies on a stable Wi-Fi connection. In areas with weak or fluctuating signal, the performance may be affected.
In conclusion, the Tapo 2K Indoor Security Camera has proven itself as an indispensable tool for home monitoring. Its versatility, high-resolution imaging, and intelligent features make it a standout option in the market. While some refinements in the app interface could enhance user experience, the camera’s overall performance and functionality are exceptional. If you’re in search of a reliable, multifunctional indoor security camera, the Tapo 2K is a top contender. It brings convenience, peace of mind, and advanced monitoring capabilities to any home, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
For my mother’s birthday, I was on the hunt for a gift that combined thoughtfulness, utility, and a sprinkle of tech magic. Enter: the Tapo 2K Indoor Security Camera.
First impressions? This isn’t just a camera, it’s peace of mind in a sleek, tech-savvy package. Its 2K resolution isn’t just a number but a testament to crisp, clear, and detailed visuals that turned the eerie darkness of winter nights into high-definition clarity.
Pairing it with the Echo Show was smoother than my grandmother’s famous birthday cake frosting. “Alexa, show me the Tapo camera” is now my mom’s favorite spell to conjure up live visuals of the outdoors. The winter might be cold, but the tech synergy between Tapo and Alexa is heartwarming!
The motion detection? It’s like having a guard owl perched outside, always watchful, always alert. The 2-way audio is the cherry on top, making this device versatile enough for everything from security needs to chatting with the family dog (or the postman, for that matter!).
In conclusion, the Tapo 2K Indoor Security Camera has transformed winter evenings for my mother. It’s more than a gift; it’s an assurance that even in the cold, dark nights, there’s a watchful eye ensuring safety and serenity.
Cheers to tech that not only connects our devices but also our hearts.
The instructions advise to go to App Store to download how to set up. This model is NOT there! What can I do? I may have to return it.
A shame..
Bought it for surveillance of visitors and keep an eye on my car. Does an excellent job. Easy to set up and use. Didn’t want to take up a subscription so stuck in a 256 Gb card that does the job. For the price it is really good value. Picture quality is great. If I had to be picky I would say that even with the motion sensitivity turned to “low” doesn’t seem to reduce the motion detect recordings, but that is not really a great problem.
Best thing I have found is that I can also use it to swing it round to view inside the house and use the app to see in real time what the cat gets up to when he thinks there is no-one there.
So will consider getting another unit.
I have other Tapo cameras which I have rated (especially for the price). Unfortunately, the motion detection wasn’t accurate, and I ended up getting notifications when nothing was there, and none when I know people were there. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, and considered that it may be a problem with that camera, a problem the manufacturers needed to work on, or it was something to do with where I had placed it.
Fastforward to the present – I bought a different Tapo, the C210. The good and the bad, in short:
THE TAPO C210:
+ The camera is ‘built’ on a ball/rotating system, which you can adjust up and down, left and right, remotely, from your phone/the app. It’s really convenient if you want to look around the room and see what’s going on. It’s perfect for pets/children/general security. (See image 1)
+ You can save ‘fixed’ camera positions – i.e. if you find a really good angle, you can ‘save it’ and toggle between them easily rather than adjusting the camera manually on the app. (See image 2)
+ There’s a mode that enables the camera to ‘follow’ movement, so if your camera is angled at the door, for example, then somebody walks into the room, the camera will follow them. (This can be turned off – the camera can be fixed to a still position). (See Image 4)
+ There are various ‘modes’ you can select, depending on what you are using the camera for e.g. to detect a baby crying, motion, people etc. (Motion and people are different, as explained below) – simply turn those modes on and the camera will heighten its sensitivity to those issues. (Although I cannot say how responsive it is to a baby crying, but even with the ‘baby crying’ feature off, it detects dogs making noises/whimpering).
+ You can modify the sensitivity to motion (i.e. light/medium/sensitive). My camera has detected a rustling bin bag on all three sensitivities, so it is effective. I have not messed around to determine levels of sensitivity, other than this. (See Image 3)
+ You can adjust the ‘area’ within the camera screen (i.e. to only detect motion on a specific part of the frame). It’s a handy option for people whose camera coverage also overlaps public space. (See Image 3, also)
+ Motion vs People detection. – there are separate detections for people and objects (which you can adjust/turn on or off). It’s a handy option, depending on what you are using the camera for. (See Image 4 – ‘AI Detection’ and ‘Motion Detection’ are separate).
+ Notifications for movement in general, or people, are separate – the notification will also clearly identify if there’s just something moving or if there’s a person identified. (See Image 5 – I use an iPhone)
+ I haven’t tested them, so cannot comment on effectiveness, but there are sound and light ‘alarms’ on the cameras, which I assume go off on the camera, and are to deter intruders. (You may wish to check this – but it seems like a good feature). (See image 4)
+ Sound quality itself is good – I can hear everything that goes on in the home.
+ Sensitivity to sound is (a) great quality – a good feature, and good in quality itself.
+ Fantastic price for the item.
+ Good quality image, even at night.
+ No subscription necessary – although you may wish to buy a micro SD card separately to record movement. (Note: nothing over 256gb is supported)
+ Easy to use app – very simple and straight forward options, as far as apps go.
+ Quite easy to setup – although a tiny bit of messing around when connecting to wifi.
+ Easy ‘recording’ features – although I am awaiting my memory card, so will report back with any useful findings/issues.
– The instructions aren’t the best. If you aren’t ‘tech-minded’ you may struggle slightly to set it up (although it is not a complicated set up, by far, it can be a bit finicky) – I’d recommend watching a YouTube video, as I imagine they will be substantially better than the small instruction book. (Although when I had issues, I didn’t resort to this, fiddled with the wifi a bit and it worked).
– The instructions for app use/features is poor too. I have had to mess around with the item to work out how best to use it. It wasn’t until messing around with the app that I discovered the features within and things like people/motion being detected differently.
– If you plan to use this facing out of a window, I wouldn’t recommend it. Night vision is good generally, but there is a small light on the camera that reflects on windows so visibility outside becomes distorted.
– A small issue that I experience – sometimes the app isn’t the best with data connection. Not awful if your camera is recording constantly, but if you get a notification whilst you’re out and you want to check, it can take a while to load and/or a few attempts, and you may have missed the movement (especially if using this camera without recording etc – i.e. ‘live’ only).
All in all, a fantastic budget option with various settings to meet the criteria of many. Some minor issues that will need to be rectified to improve it, but as far as use, price and features go, it’s an item that will cater to a lot of needs.
Easy to set up
It works perfectly plus it’s cheaper than other indoor security cameras. Quality of camera is superb. Size is just right. It can be wall mounted or can be place on top of a table like what I did to ours.
Good clear video.
Purchased on behalf of my Parents, whom wanted security for their Garden as it backs onto an unsecured alleyway.
Its very good at detecting movement but could do with being programmable in terms of being able to programme it to know that some of the movement is just the washing drying on the line, so it doesn’t need to trigger an alert. Maybe just trigger an alert when a person or people are detected in the Garden.
If it was refined like that, it would be an excellent security camera.
Fantastic for what you pay!
Great quality camera, app is super easy to use, we use ours as a pet cam and although it can lag at times we find it more than adequate for what we need it to do
Used as dog camera
Brilliant, easy to set up and do exactly what I want. Picture quality is very clear, I can speak to the dog to redirect him if he’s doing something he shouldn’t and the night vision is surprisingly good for the price I paid. Well worth it.
Much better than expected
I bought these as I couldn’t get the Kasa versions for a decent price.
I’m surprised just how good they are!
Easy to set up and use, great features like an alarm, privacy mode & 2 way talk.
I’d definitely buy again and add more if I was after a good cheap security solutio
Great camera
Great camera works perfectly. I found leaving it on day vision works works better even at night . Sound is perfect connection was simple. Well recommend. I have 4 and they are all great . Records well playback is good.
Firstly. great little camera, simple to set up, clear picture motion detection is great, clarity of picture and price point are all superb!
the BUT.. is the works with google… hmmmm
I understand it can work with the displays but not tested as yet
From the google Home app however you get a lovely sign saying:
This video stream cant be viewed here.
if you have a smart display or Chromecast you can ask the Assistant to stream it there.
I guess this is a google thing, protecting their app to secure the stupid costs the google cameras are.
Don’t be put off with the google thing however their app works well so all good from my side
Got 3 of these. Excellent budget camera, easy to use after installing via Tapo app. Installed easily on Zoneminder -Linux or Windoz version after setting up user and password settings via app. Then adding to ZM for rtsp connection.
Source = rtsp://user:password@IPaddress:554/stream1. NB try in VLC player first if it works there then put that address into ZM Source. See YT vid at Bytemypi for full instructions, very helpful! Thanks to him. Enjoy.
I managed to set up the camera fairly quickly and also connected to my Synology NAS Camera Monitor. Quality of picture is good. The only complaint I have is that the camera body is white but the power supply and cable is black. I would have preferred white.
Great stuff
Great camera,i bought it to see what my dog doing when we are out and now we using this as baby camera, dont need to spend a lot for baby cameras when you can buy this. Good quality
We have a couple of the 360 ones already and added this to the collection to monitor our newborn in the crib. This one seemed adequate and easier to install on the crib itself and offers all the features of the other ones so ideal as we didn’t need it to move around.
I love that we can then use these cameras at the windows when we go away on holiday to capture any outdoor activity.
Great little bits of kit.
Recommended to my parents as they were getting antisocial behaviour outside their house at night and they are happy with it too and have added more since.
I’m really happy to see they still work even without a memory card. We had no need for saving images for the crib monitor so it’s a bonus that we didn’t have to buy one at extra cost.
I bought this initially as my partner wanted to keep an eye on the birds in our garden that we feed. (It’s lovely to watch and the food depletes so quickly so we wanted to work out how). I later bought another one that I used for our home office (to ensure nobody went in as there is confidential work stuff there). Some general observations (accurate at time of writing – July 2023):
+ The camera is good quality and matches what you would expect for a camera of this value.
+ Motion detection will notify your phone in realtime so you can immediately log on to see what is going on (all being possible remotely, as long as you have mobile internet/wifi).
+ It is so easy to set up – even me (who has an aversion to instruction manuals, and zero common sense) could follow it.
+ The speed is great – it’s in real time, and there weren’t any ‘lags’ or glitches.
+ There is an app to view cameras (at least for iPhone) which is so easy to use. The layout shows all cameras that you have connected so you can swap between them.
+ There’s a helpful ball axis so you can angle the camera sideways, horizontally and vertically to your liking.
+ The camera comes on a tiny secure stand and is virtually ‘ready to go’ on receipt.
+ There are helpful settings so you can disable motion detection if you want to, specifically between certain times.
+ You can add multiple cameras to your account in one handy place, and you can even ‘share’ cameras. So, you and a partner, for example, can link the same camera and view simultaneously.
+ You can name separate cameras and link them very easily to your account.
+ The date and time is listed on the screen so you can prove timings if recording is necessary.
+ Overview on your account will enable you to see which cameras are ‘online’ and ‘offline’.
+ Troubleshooting help is available on the App easily.
+ Wide lens to enable a larger range
– Unfortunately there were some detection issues. Whilst tiny birds would set off the sensor on one, the other failed to detect a person coming into my home office. The same camera has since detected people, so I think it is a consistency issue rather than camera-specific defect.
– I believe you have to pay to upgrade to store/record videos – although that’s avoidable if you are quick to notice detection and do a screen recording on your iPhone.
– Frustratingly, whilst you can turn off detection at specific times, you cannot modify the days. That can be an issue if you have yourself in the frame and you want to monitor your office all the time that you are not there, but you are not there all day on a specific day, because you can only choose times to turn off detection. You have to manually change it (and remember to – that’s the big issue!)
– If you have a camera that is linked to somebody else’s, and you subsequently add another, it will link yours to their account too. That can be irritating as notifications will go to both when movement is detected, when you may be the only one who wants to see both cameras, and them, one.
– Notification settings are shared, so if your fellow viewer disables them, they become disabled on yours without warning. That can be frustrating, and similarly, if one phone was to go AWOL, it would be easier for privacy invasion.
– When using 4G on the App I have had issues with connections, and it is therefore not the most consistent/reliable support.
It is easy to install
It has good and handy app which make it easy to install and easy to use
Negative part is the notifications are not smart you might end of having hundreds of notifications in a half an hou
This is a brilliant little gadget. It has great functionality and is very responsive. The call option works well, picture is crisp, night vision effective and the sound it picks up is good too.
When setting to human only detection, this doesn’t notify me of the dog and cat mooching about. Can even be used as a baby monitor and burglar alarm.
The app is easy to use and you can add up to 32 cameras
Tempted to buy a second
This camera has a great range and picks up picture really well however if your looking for a camera that picks up sound good too then probably don’t buy. For baby monitor it would be perfect but if you want to hear a conversation it’s quite muffled. Stuck up with gorilla tape and it was really secure. It’s really light. The app features are great too
The picture image quality is much better than a 10 times more expensive camera I bought about a year ago. The app interface could be better improved even though the current version (2.15.516) is fair enough. If you don’t need to use the AI features, like baby crying detection, you could view your playback history from anywhere in the world if you have a memory card installed in the camera. I have a 256Gb memory card in mine and I could view playback history of as long as 6 months in a busy area of the house! And potentially much longer if the area is not busy.
Cheap and cheerful camera, easy to set up and connect with Google home. The only problem I have is being unable to turn of the infra red lights, I have this looking out of a window and due to the night vision I’m unable to see anything at night. There needs to be a way of turning of the infra red in the app. Disappointed not to have this option.
I was given a Ring doorbell by a friend who knew we had to monitor the activity of our new dog at night and after 1 month we found that we would have been forced to pay a cloud storage subscription cost alone that is about 3 times the total cost of this Tapo 2k Camera plus a high quality 128Gb data card. No contest on price, then on features I think the Tapo 2k camera has better software and no ongoing subscription cost at all unless I want that. It overwrites oldest data when full so how soon that happens is up to how you schedule and permit motion triggered data events. You can turn off recording for the times of day you do not need it and for us that means the card fills up in about 2 months based on 2 minute videos per trigger event.
Great little camera
Bought this to add some security but wasn’t sure how good it would be for the price however I was pleasantly surprised. I have mine indoors looking out to the front of my property. Very happy with it. The only small downside is that there seems to be a short delay between motion & notifications but with the cloud recording (which I purchased additionally) the videos are always there & clear to watch
Moved in a week ago wanted a camera to overwatch front and back of property.
Night vision won’t work through glass as it reflects back the IR so I disabled night vision but its not really needed if its light outside as seen in one of my pictures. live view/playback can be used on PC if you are a bit tech savvy with the help of an app called bluestacks (both pictures are taken on PC). Notifications are accurate however if you live anywhere busy i’d turn notifications off or it will ping your phone everytime anyone walks in view.
For the price (offer of 22 per camera) its fantastic, I would advice getting a mini SSD card to record 24/7 so you have no need to have any subscription.
Pros: Good picture quality
Motion detection
Can record to Micro SD card
You can talk through a speaker on the
camera. Good for pets or scaring
people
Cons:
I have to remove and put the SD card
back in every few days as it tells me it
detected a new card and to initialise it,
which fails unless the card is taken out
and put back in which means you can’t
record if you are out and this problem
occurs.
I have to unplug it every few days as it
just stops working
Overall I recommend it and hopefully you get one that works better than mine
Great value for money and an easy install. Superficially crisp images and a wide field of view are pluses, but poor refresh rates and very blocky compression artefacts when zoomed, mean that you can’t get smooth video or see any real detail. My use is limited to checking on the weather whilst I’m away.
Clunky streaming to Google Hub devices is an issue – when it works it’s fine, but it can drop its link after just briefly connecting.
I’m disappointed too that I can’t stream to my TV via Google Chromecast – as far as I can tell, this is a limitation of Google’s own making.
I’m surprised how good the image quality is, daylight is crystal clear and IR is good but don’t expect miracles for 35.00.
The app is easy to use and picked up both of my cameras, monitoring and remote access if fab, I’ve spent 100s and been dissapointed, the TP Link Tapo camseras and app are excelent VFM.
I’m not a shill or paid to review but I’m well impressed with the C110 and C100 cameras and software.
As with other Tapo devices, you have to use their app to configure & get the best out of this camera but it does support local recording onto FAT-formatted 256GB uSD either continuously or when motion is detected and pasword-protected RTSP & ONVIF streaming interfaces. The app can be used to remotely access the stored or live footage and Google & Alexa integration is adequate, allowing display on Fire TV, Nest Hub and the like. Motion detection is good and it attempts to differentiate between human & non-human motion, with pretty good success. If the device running the app & the camera are on the same subnet, access does not require going out the the Internet and back.
The quality of the video compression is not brilliant, leading to a fair bit of blockiness during faster motion but given the price of the device this isn’t that surprising. However the infrared mode is better than many budget devices and its small size & weight makes it easy to install. It also supports two-way audio and an alarm siren although the latency on the two-way accessed remotely is poor.
For a full-blown security system this is not the device to buy but if you just need to keep an eye on things when you’re not there it’s ideal.
Dece
Very well made and can take A beating I threw this in temper and it bounced then the second time the camera part popped out of the plastic all I have to do is pop it back in and it was perfect but the only problem was the speaker is absolutely terrible you can’t hear them clearly at all let down badly
Easy to set up
Absolutely brilliant!! So simple to set up, and easy to move from room to room. At the moment I have it looking at the front door out the window, and it sends me notifications when someone is there. Can also be used as dog cam, or baby cam. Fantastic value
Good little camera
Does what I need it to.
Put it in my dog crate in the boot of my car to keep an eye on him during our travels. Connect it to my phone hot spot and all is good.
It’s a basic but good camera. I can’t comment on the memory card part as I don’t use the camera to record, just watch.
Decent bang for your buck
Can’t grumble for as much as a couple of packets of cigarettes, added a 64gb memory card and away it goes. Pretty simplistic interface and installation. Also works over your home network IP to your phone/tablet away from your property, and pretty smooth at that too at 3K. It feels quite similar to the now defunked white desktop Yale camera, with the added bonus you can disable the camera via the app, the Yale won’t allow that (Though the PT Yale desktop cameras do). Shortly buying another.
Very good cameras on a budge
I got these cameras as my own form of CCTV for safety reasons after a string of incidents.
These cameras work very well and set up only takes 10 minutes if you’re tech savvy or know enough about tech.
The quality is good enough for my purposes and they are small enough to be discreet.
The only issue I have is that sometimes the cameras disconnect from the application. Not sure if it’s a manufacturers problem or my Internet connection but otherwise I’d highly recommend them
Brilliant!
Highly recommend this camera! I use it for daughters bedroom and I can control pretty much everything on it from my phone. Can talk to her when she’s at home and I’m at work. Lots of free features and you can pay for extras at a small fee of 2.99. Can connect camera to different devices using a log in. I’m very pleased with this camera especially as it didn’t cost the earth!!
Great camera
Bought this for my kitchen to see what my bun gets up to when I’m not around. Really impressed with the quality of the picture on the camera. There is a little lag on the live view but that doesn’t bother me. Actually thinking of buying another one!
The TC60 is a Great Budget camera and a good price.
Looks good, nice and compact.
I’m not a gadget wiz but I had it all set up in around twenty mins. Very easy. Lots of great features too, including a 3m adapter lead.
The live delay is a couple of seconds and the video is motion activated from around 25-30ft
You can pause the playback and zoom in on the phone without losing clarity.
I haven’t used all of the features yet, but for 20 i’m really happy and have purchased another for the rear of the house. It has already exceeded my expectations.
You can add up to 32 cameras on the app and it is really easy to swipe from one to the other with minimal effort.
I got the camera initially because I have recently had prowlers looking at my vehicle….Look all you want because now you are on camera!! Don’t forget to smile 🙂
Ok…I’ve had an issue with recording in the dark. All i get is the security camera recording itself. Not good!! defeats the object.
It is the infa red rebounding off of the glass. As i cannot turn off the infa red on the TC60 unit I turned it back on to day mode. Uerika!! A descent view of the street again. very grainy but something is better than nothing. Plus I do have a street light shining straight on my window. Tomorrow I will a put bit of low tack masking tape to cover the infa red. I will then try night mode again. Worth a go.
P.S: To turn on/off light modes: open the app, click on Tapo camera, then click on the ‘sun’ icon Top right… sorted!
Worth the price
Own a tapo cam already, the 1080p model.
For the price when this 2k pixel model is on sale it’s worth the upgrade in my opinion.
Zooming in still gives pixelated image but to be expected, cam does the job in the house for us.
The camera is good value, clear video and audio that works well with little lag. Setup was relatively pain free too surprisingly. I bought it hoping for it to be fully compatible with my Google Home infrastructure, and while you can ask a Google display to view the camera footage on the display itself, you cannot view the footage within the Google Home app on your phone. Instead, the footage can only be viewed on the native TP Link app. The native app itself is fairly good, but just something worth remembering if that’s something you expected, like I did.
Seems ok?
We had issues a few hours after setup with the camera disconnecting from wifi and not being viewable on the app while out. I had to reset the device and set up from scratch again which seems to have resolved the issue however, I would be open to returning if the issue persists. Image quality is great, the talk feature comes in and handy and the motion detection although great, can be annoying with a notification on every movement. We have started to turn it to the wall at night while we’re in and moving around. Very sensitive!
I’ve had smart cameras before with terrible motion detection, this so far has been brilliant. Granted being indoors you don’t get false alarms by rain/cobwebs but the person detection is surprisingly good.
Camera quality is good. Night vision is stellar for inside use, you will not miss a thing. Black cat on dark sheets? Nope you can still see it when its in IR night vision mode.
Microphone is sensitive too.
I wish the power adapter was longer, and the DC input jack wasn’t recessed / had a wider ‘mouth’ to it… I’ve bought extensions cables and found that i can’t plug them in as the cable’s sleeve hits the body of the camera before making electrical contact.
I kinda wish the cable was white coloured too… black cables stick out like a sore thumb on light coloured walls, this makes it mandatory to have white cable extensions.
Excellent image quality
I purchased this to use as a pet cam. My dog sometimes gets left all day while we’re at work so wanted a camera so I could check in on her.
This camera is very easy to set up and I inserted a 64GB Micro SD card for the recordings. The good thing is that you can set this to record constantly so you can go back and check the whole day if you need to.
The image quality for both day and night vision is excellent and the app is very easy to use too.
Overall a very good quality low price camera.
I like these cameras. I am using them as baby monitors. I have since bought more as dog cameras for when not at home . Easy to set up, can be wall mounted or free standing. I have both. Easy portable if not mounted.
The video is good, the night camera is good quality.
When changing to day mode / night mode the camera made a clicking sound. In night mode 3 lights show on the camera.
The camera to app is about 5 seconds delay, not a huge probably for me.
The audio is not the best. I can hear baby/ dog. When using the audio from app (phone) to camera the user cannot hear and its very distorted.
Overall I think this is a great product and great for peace of mind.
Pros:
+No subscription required, just a microsd card.
+Small.
+Motion detection.
+Low cost.
Cons:
-Motion detection isn’t smart, passing cars headlights reflecting on your driveway will trigger it. I turn of the alarm/notifications. I use my Ring doorbell for that bit.
-Night vision isn’t great without the IR, but as I have mine mounted in a window I can’t use the IR as it reflects back into it. Purely indoors it’s good.
-App can be a git to connect to the camera when out and about. Unless you have perfect signal, good luck.
Basically, it’s pretty decent for the money. Not needing to pay out for yet another subscription service is why I bought it. I have a Ring doorbell and recently looking to add cameras to it. Heh, nah, not as those prices.
I also have a C210 pan/tilt model. This is larger, but has much better night vision.
Bought this indoor camera to point out of a window onto our driveway, however the night vision LEDs reflect off the glass and therefore obscures the picture, to solve this issue we have leave the camera in Day mode all day long. The resulting footage at night with the addition of street lighting and a motion sensor outdoor light mean we have (if needed) useable footage and it has solved our problem. I am fully aware this is an indoor camera and I am bending the rules slightly but the hassle of fitting an outdoor camera was too much of a faff. To be clear this is an excellent camera and the 2K resolution and 105 wide angle lens is above par considering the price of less than twenty five pounds. The app offers loads of options and with a fast high quality SD card you’re not going to regret buying this camera.
I was so impressed with these TP LINK Tapo C110 cameras, that I ordered yet another pair. I have other types, but not good quality, and yet these C110 cameras go right up to 2304x1296px, (2k), and all controllable via the TP LINK TAPO app on your phone.
One special feature, besides the quality, is direct recording onto micro SD cards, without the need to keep removing the cards to view on a pc in original quality. Other features, and these are numerous, are
1 Detection and Alerts – motion detection, Sensitivity and even activity zones to detect a specific area.
2 Recording schedule, where you can record onto the sd card all the time or just during motion detection.
3 Capture a single image or single video to memory, full screen view
and remember, the best part, is when using the app, you can view any of your C110 cameras at any time, anywhere, not just locally, and also view the contents of each sd card placed into the camera from the comfort of your own phone or tablet.
Full marks again to TP LINK for an outstanding well researched product.
