Very easy to setup and use. Multiple plugs can be grouped together which is ideal for Christmas lights. They can also be timed as a group or individually. Very good value

Amazing! Cannot believe how much money has been saved by managing my devices better. Moving to a smart home has been worth it and I’m already seeing the benefits as its cut my bills significantly.
Buy these, the app is great and it is all very easy to use, they are great! I would also recommend downloading the free “watt” app also as this links to Tapo and shows the consumption so much better, with other features too.

I bought three of these to work as pet monitors. All functions are easy. App is easy to install, the cameras are easy to setup through phone. Would have been great if there was another way to view the monitors apart from using the phone app. But this camera works overall. I’ve only had one camera fail (stopped working) in the last few months that all three are up. But a simple restart revived the camera. Worth the money.

I use these for lights switching on at sunset at off at a pre-determined time set by me. Incredibly easy to set-up and use. So good, that I went and bought a second set.
I know nothing about Alexa connectivity, as I don’t have this setup.

Fantastic product, which is easy to set-up. Especially in the winter months to have lamps Programmed to come on when you get home so your not scrambling with shopping trying to find the light switch.

Worked well straight off, simple installation and more compact than the amazon version which didn’t last long. Hopefully these will be more reliable. The tapo app works well, as I also have 2 of the cameras for monitoring our dogs.

My first venture into using smart plugs (to save me crawling under the Christmas tree to switch the lights on and off!).

A very easy set up experience using the tapo app and so far so good – I am planning to buy more.

Excellent units once configured. The configuration is easy one you have done the first one. As long as you follow the instructions exactly, it’s pretty straightforward. Make sure vpn is turned off on your phone, and all is well. Very easy to add to Google voice assistant.

I had to replace all my smart plugs with these as all my previous ones worked with the E Family Cloud skill which has been discontinued. I know there is another skill work around now but how long will that last? So I went with a more established company and bought these as I already have their cameras and am impressed.
These have been the easiest and quickest wifi smart things I have ever set up. They also updated firmware very quickly. I can use the same Tapo app that I use for my cameras for them so less messing about and there are lots of setting options.
All I can say is, they just work and I have more confidence the company will be around a while to keep them working longer than my last ones.

Bought this bundle and shared the plugs between myself my parent and my aunt, and we are all very happy with the item. Is it easy to set up? pretty easy. Tho takes a few minutes to allow Alexa to recognise and sync with the app and skill. But after setting it up all is good. No more fumbling around for the light switch ” Alexa turn on lamp” and like magic the lamp turns off!

Installed and integrated to the app easily without problems. Its really nice to use as it shows you an estimate of your bill with the devices that you are using this product with. You need to set the current unit price for your electricity in order for it to display your estimated bill. You will know which electronic device consumes a lot of power. Very nice plug for me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThey work really well EXCEPT they do not like switching high current loads. I was using one to switch off TV+SKY HD+Amplifier via an extension lead and eventually they stopped opening and closing the circuit although everything continued to work. The switching contacts had welded together. Solution is to give them a good whack with a slipper which returns them to fully working order. So make sure you are not switching 13amp loads, I’m not sure what loading they were designed for but you should have no problems with 5 amp or less loads.

I got 6 of these now, You can set a timer on and off at sunset and dawm, set for variable times it turns off and on automatically ( like your home).
And you can totally control it all from the app at home or away.

Or if you have a fan on at night, you can set it turn off in a few hours or when you like.

What I really like about Tapo items, cameras included is, there no subscriptions demanded! It optional

The cameras take sd cards, quality is very good, you can talk through them to you pet etc

We’ve used these and synced with Alexa to control our devices on a daily bases. Every night turning the main groups of devices together to turn off and on to prevent power leeching, and when we need to reset devices easily.

The Tapo app is a bit useless, but used a couple of times to resync and turn on and off if Alexa doesn’t read them.

Finally after two years of use, one of them no longer works, and does not turn on or off the flow of power. Not bad for the money really. I’d recommend them.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersReviewing Tapo Smart Plug with Energy Monitoring

I’ve been using these in various places in the house and garage for close to a year now and found them very useful indeed. I did start off by using the energy monitoring to determine exactly how much electricity some items used but once that was established it seems unnecessary. As there’s very little price difference though, you might as well have it as not.
I use them through the Tapo app on an Android phone although they are integrated with Google Home and work well there too. The app is good though so I see no great need to use anything else, the phone being close to hand and just as easy as speaking to it.
You get the ability to turn each circuit on/off, set a schedule on each individually too which is useful some things that do need to go on/off at set times. I use this for a water feature in the garden for instance. There is also an away from home mode which turns whatever is attached, a light presumbaly, on and off at random intervals between the times that you set. This makes it seem as if someone is at home to anyone looking from outside.
Getting them set up can be a bit tricky with the pairing process, but a full reset on them and starting the procedure again has always cleared it when I initially had problems.
They’ve worked perfectly for all this time and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I’m a recent concert to Smart plugs and am very happy with these plugs from Tapo. They’re very easy to set up with the App and compatibility with Alexa gives another option to control/use them. The ability to set up routines for lamps to come on/off when desired is a nice touch and of course being able to control devices remotely the main benefit of having them. I’ve added a camera to my Tapo arsenal and look forward to other Tapo innovationsb being added in time.

My parents purchased a water fountain for the back garden, and it has to run for a period of time each day to keep it clean.. I got one of these smart plugs so that they could control the fountain without having to go into our outside cupboard where the sockets are every time they wanted to turn the fountain on.

We have a schedule set-up on the Tapo app that turns the fountain on at 10am and back off again an hour later.

Great little plug. Will definitely buy more of these in the future.

These plugs are such a brilliant purchase as I’ve connected it to my lights so when I’m out until late I can turn the light on for my dog so he’s not in the dark as no one else is home and it helps when on holiday so people don’t know your out as the lights come on when you choose and it’s not on a timer so people can’t tell it’s automatic

I bought these smart plugs a while back so I could easily switch off the 4 lamps I have dotted around my room without having to move to each individual switch and they have been really helpful! You have to download an app which is simple and easy to use for setting up the devices via your home WiFi system. I had no issues with the setup at all. The app is compatible with shortcut options on apple devices which was really handy as I can ask Siri to switch on individual lamps without having to touch my phone. The timer works perfectly switching on the device at a set time or much more conveniently at sunrise and sunset. There is no delay at all when switching on the devices through the app either.

Overall really useful product which I recommend.

I bought these to replace some older smart plugs which no longer worked well with my wireless router.
I have a BT Smarthub 2 which is dual band wifi but you cannot separate the channels, so I had to have a separate wireless hub to run the old 2.4ghz plugs.
The new TP-Link Tapo smart plugs, although also 2.4ghz, integrate easily with the BT Smarthub 2, so I no longer need the separate wifi hub.
The old plugs were Teckin brand and worked perfectly with 2.4ghz, but I couldn’t get them to work with the BT hub. The new Tapo plugs had no problem with the BT hub and connected easily using the Tapo app, which is excellent.
It is easy to add the Tapo skill to Alexa and they work perfectly with Alexa.
I haven’t tried the timer function so I could not rate it.

I have a number of these plugs installed around house to switch on difficult to access wall sockets. The best use to date is the switching of my 4K projector. Plus its attached AV receiver, 4k Blu-ray disk player, amplifier sub woofer that all required individual switching on from different power sources. Now I just say. Alexa turn on projector and all devices turn on together. With regard to another posters comments about privacy. I wish that all our electronics were not made in PRC. As it is. They probably have access to all our networks via the PRC manufactured routers anyway. To counter any monitoring of my private info. I use an old mobile phone linked to Wi-Fi to set up devices. As it just holds a few pictures of my dog Freddie they will not learn a lot from me.

After comparing smart plugs for a long time, went with these, as they cover all that I need, you do get some more “premium” options with a few more features however I have no need for those at the moment. Good quality for the price, well built and feel very well made. Easily connected and linked up to my Google home easily. I will be buying again. Together with some othe tapo products

I got eight smart plugs and I have two tapo cameras at the front and back of my home and there all on the one app on my phone. I can turn my lights off and on while away from home and view my cameras to ensure my home is safe.
I plugged in my adapters into the smart plug’s thereby turning TV, Sound bar, and lighting off in one go. Thereby turning them all off in one go.
Would strongly recommend very happy with results.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThese P110 plugs are great. You can turn them on-and-off with the Tapo app or you can do it with Alexa, which will autodiscover them. Setup is a breeze with the Tapo app and you can also see the energy consumption of connected devices through it. If you know your provider’s rate per kW/h you can tell the app that so it will show you energy consumption with the associated cost. There is also an integration for Homebridge if you are a tinkerer! Now the issues – due to the size of the plugs, if you have an outlet with USB ports they will be inaccessible (see photo). The plug also blocks the socket switch although this is less of an issues as you normally leave the Tapo plug powered on and switch it from the app. So overall great but be aware you may need to consider where you put them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great with some issues

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersIf you are looking for a simple and affordable way to make your home smarter, the TP-Link Smart Plug might be a good option for you. This plug allows you to control your devices from anywhere using the Tapo app or your voice with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set schedules, timers, and countdowns to automate your appliances and save energy.

The plug is easy to set up and use. You just need to plug it into a wall socket, download the Tapo app, and follow the instructions to connect it to your Wi-Fi network. You can then name your plug and assign it to a room or a group. You can also create scenes to control multiple devices with one tap or voice command.

The plug works well with most devices, such as lamps, fans, heaters, coffee makers, and more. However, it is not compatible with some high-power appliances, such as air conditioners, microwaves, or hair dryers. The plug also does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, so you need to have a 2.4 GHz network available.

The plug is small and compact, so it does not block the adjacent sockets. It also has a button on the side that allows you to manually turn it on or off. The plug has a LED indicator that shows its status, but it can be turned off in the app if you find it too bright at night.

The Tapo app is user-friendly and intuitive. It allows you to monitor the power consumption of your devices, set up smart actions based on conditions, and share the control with other family members or guests. The app also supports firmware updates to keep your plug secure and up-to-date.

The plug is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can use your voice to control your devices. You just need to enable the Tapo skill or service in the Alexa or Google Home app and link your account. You can then use commands like “Alexa, turn on the lamp” or “Hey Google, turn off the fan”.

    Pros:

1- Easy to set up and use
    2- Affordable and reliable
3- Supports remote control, scheduling, timers, and countdowns
4- Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant
5- Has a power monitoring feature
6- Has a manual switch and a LED indicator

    Cons:

1- Not compatible with high-power appliances
2- Does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks
3- LED indicator might be too bright for some users

    Reasons to buy:

If you want to make your home smarter without spending too much money
If you want to control your devices from anywhere using your phone or your voice
If you want to save energy and automate your appliances

    Reasons to avoid:

If you have high-power appliances that need more than 10 A of current
If you only have a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network at home
If you prefer a plug that does not have a LED indicator
    Conclusion:

The TP-Link Tapo Smart Plug is a smart and easy way to control your devices remotely. It offers many features and functions that make your life more convenient and comfortable. It is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can use your voice to manage your devices. However, it is not suitable for high-power appliances or 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, so you need to check the compatibility before buying. Overall, it is a great product for its price and performance.

I now have a few Tapo smart home devices at home, they all work seemingly together very easy to set up via the app, makes things a bit easier when switches are in hard to reach places and I can keep an eye on things if they are left on wasting energy when not needed!
Brought two packs while on offer as thinking way ahead these will be useful for that tree (and other lights) we put up at the end of the year (I refuse to use the word in August) instead of battling to get to switches and messing with manual timers!
I’m sure I will keep adding to my Tapo collection!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have had these running now for ages, and they never never let me down. I even have one in the metal shed, to turn the garden lights on, and one in the greenhouse to turn soft lights on there, I say this because there is no problem with wifi signal range.
Easy to set up, far easier than other makes, very responsive, and incredibly reliable. The app can program each switch to come on and off several times a day if needed, with incredible accuracy, and remember these can be controlled from anywhere, if need be, even from Spain on holiday !. One thing I do like about these switches, is even if your router were to fail at home, the switches would still retain any schedule for turning lights on and off at home …. great value, and these really are the best versions I have known.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI quite like the tapo range of smart home products, and am a fan of this plug once set up, however I do have one small gripe.

As with all other tapo products we own, this plug would not connect with the wifi network coming directly from our router. I could get to the point in the set up of inputting the wifi password but then it then went to connect to it, it would inevitably fail to do so and put itself back into setup mode, with the app just freezing.

The only wifi network I could get these to initially connect to was that coming from any powerline wifi extender. I have no idea at all why this happens as the wifi coming from an extender is the same standard that comes from the router @ 2.4ghz. I’m not an IT professional but consider myself to be fairly proficient with computing / home networking and could not get any tapo item to connect to the router’s wifi signal.

Not the end of the world, and wouldn’t stop me buying more tapo products, but lead to a significant amount of frustration when I first set up some TP-link smart home items.

Super easy to set up and versatile app that allows you to schedule, time and see how long the devices have been on throughout the week.

The set-up for Tapo devices is very simple and the app will guide you through that process in a way that I believe most people could follow very confidently.
Once set up you get control over ON/OFF, and can schedule or use a timer on the plug. The app will also display stats about how much use the plug has had throughout the week.
I didn’t set these up with Alexa however I did assign them to my Google Home, and they work great with voice commands through my phone and my Google Home devices around the house.

If you want a simple smart plug that allows scheduling and can be linked to Alexa or Google I couldn’t recommend these more. They work great and the App is non-intrusive and easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have now purchased a number or TP-Link Tapo Smart Products including a number of these plugs. I started with one because I had a plug socket behind a cabinet that was a bit of a pain to get to every time I wanted to switch the plug on, this seemed to be a solution to that issue. It worked very well with Alexa and I could see the benefits of having a numbers of these plugs, lights etc., as it becomes possible to switch on your plugs, etc., literally without lifting a finger.

Its possible to use them as plug with devices and switch those devices on and off using these plugs. If you have devices that you need to switch on and off at certain times, it is also possible to set timers to turn the plug on and off. I have some set to go off at a certain time daily in case I fall asleep leaving some things on, so they will not be on all night or wake you because they are still on. On the occasions I have done this the timer work well.

It is also possible to buy them with Monitoring to view your electricity usage, which these do not have. The Tapo smart light bulbs do, if you plan to use the smart plugs together with the Smart Bulbs. I was also a little surprised that they do not have surge protection, which is probably worth mentioning although its possible to fix this in other ways.

My dad installed a shower pump, but it kept running unnecessarily which meant you can to keep turning it on and off everytime you wanted hot water. The problem with this is the pump is in my sisters bedroom and she’s not very happy about being disturbed so I bought this in the hope I could use it with the alexa in my bedroom and on the app when my toddlers asleep in my room. After a little bit of difficulty setting the plug up (wouldn’t flash green and orange) and following the instructions didn’t help initially, after a fiddling about for 5 minutes it was all up and running. It works perfectly with alexa and really easy to add to the app. I would definitely buy more and will be in time for Christmas for all my Christmas lights! No more fighting trees to get to switches

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI purchased this to keep tabs on electricity usage and the cost of working from home. With the rising cost of electricity at the moment I wanted to make sure it was still cost effective to work from home over the fuel cost to drive to the office, pleasantly pleased withe the accuracy that this records the KWH and displays instantaneous ammount of watts being drawn, you can even put in your current rate for pence per KWH so you can see daily, weekly or monthly costs.

With a laptop, 2 monitors and handful of ther chargers for work phone / headsets I’m glad to say it’s still cheaper to pay for the electricity than it is for the fuel in my case.

I plug a 4way extension lead into this so I can monitor all my work equipment at once. I plan to repeat this over the next few months for other groups of items arround the house to se did we can spot what the big costly items are to run and where we can pinch a few pounds a month!

    Would highly recommend!

They are a really good reliable product that have lots of features that can be used to automate your home. Highly recommended.

Absolutely great, I’ll buy more in time – energy monitoring being free with an interface that tells you how much it costs per day and month is awesome – update the firmware to view all of this (more features when you update the product). If you’re on apartment wifi, make a device hotspot and connect the plug socket to it then update then you can connect it back to your main wifi.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersNot really “smart”, but turn off-and-onable via wi-fi, and also reporting energy usage of whatever is plugged into them. Be aware that Internet access is necessary to initially set up each plug, which is done via the Tapo app. This basically uses your email address and password as a key, so that the comms to the plugs is encrypted. Henceforth, internet access is only required if you want to control the plug via the app or via Google/Alexa etc. If you use one of the open source tools available (such as “TapoP100” on GitHub) then the plugs don’t need internet access to function (and rightly so).

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have several of these around the home, some are used as power monitors, others as timed sockets. One runs my dehumidifier for 12 hours, (where before we left it on 24/7) another socket on the bedside lamp which I have set up as a wake-up light. I can even choose the days it switches on, so I have it set for 06:30 mon-Fri, and off Sat/Sunday. Others are on dishwasher, tumble dryer and washing machine. With the changes I have made to my power consumption, such as thermal solar for the hot water, split system air source heating, etc., and so far I have saved over 1100 in electricity in 9 months. Whilst the potential savings from the sockets alone is small, there is the added convenience of being able to control many appliances remotely and monitor the power consumption.

Very happy, though be nice if units had on/off button on both sides of plug, as not all sockets equal in placement.

Good price when I got mine, will buy again. Been a solid brand product wise for me and had few of their devices over the years and no complaints, few wish list changes/options, but no complaints.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor the price this is the best. Time setting is good, I particularly like the dawn and dusk setting. Better than a smart meter, you can see the time, date and cost of power used, so can make a more informed decision on how and where to save electricity. Have not tried it with Alexa, works well through the app to turn on and off each unit.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWriting a review for the benefit of those unsure if the current version of Tapo P110 integrates with Home-Assistant .io. I can confirm it does; just follow the instructions on the aforementioned forum/GitHub. One thing I have done is ignore the app’s firmware updates in case it breaks the integration.
While I wasn’t keen on using WiFi smart plugs initially, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the design and form factor, meaning you can plug in and the width doesn’t stop use of adjacent sockets.
The icing on the cake has been the availability of instantaneous (W) and cumulative (kWh), so these represent good value. Worthy of mention is the plug ability to configure via app the power-on state, which by default is: ‘Last “On” State’, so perfect for my use-case.

As smart plugs go they’ve been reliable from day one easy to setup and no problem linking them to my wifi. So I have decided to invest in some new smart bulbs and see how they fair.so overall good produc
