Neat little device
After plugging this in and downloading the app which Is easy to use, you do need to set up an account but after that it’s great really easy to use and you don’t need to sacrifice the socket which I think is amazing
Use to get Wired access
My WiFi on my smart tv broke. My Tv not near my router to plug in LAN cable. My WiFi is strong but I use this in a plug socket near my TV. It connects wirelessly as an extender but I use the LAN port on it to connect LAN cable to my TV. Works brilliantly.
I replaced my powerline network with these.
I have 2 of these which I use to extend my network to remote (well, upstairs on the other side of a 3 bed detatched house) LAN connected devices. They work fine – I never give the network a second thought.
Simple to set up and use.
Great WiFi extender / repeater.
Have used this to extend the house wifi to the front door, for my Ring doorbell, since I live in an old house with very thick walls and lots of obstructions between the bell and the router (upstairs).
Took less than 5 minutes to set up and install, using Tether App.
The addition of a plug socket meant I could also plug Ring Chime into the same socket, so the alert can now be heard throughout the house.
Highly recommend this
another fast setup piece of ki
Easy to install, easy configuring onto network, range not too important for me as only need it to connect WiFi fingerprint door lock onto my main network. Works a dream
Great little Wifi Range extended from TP Link
I wanted to improve wifi signal to an extension in my house. We did get a wifi signal there, but it was unreliable. This TP Link wifi extender was very tricky to set up, but, once it was set up and running it does give a good steady signal most of the time. I am pleased with my purchase, & would recommend this product.
Great range extende
Looking for a cheap extender to give me one more bar of WiFi through a former external wall to stop conference calls dropping – needed an integrated pass-through socket as the only plug is there the hoover gets plugged in!
This did much more than give me one more bar – all the devices prefer this network now and it keeps the speed up perfectly.
Ever so slightly plasticky, buy how often do you fondle your range extender?!
Does its job very nicely
Bought to boost wifi signal for ring doorbell and it was a piece of cake to set up, this may have been helped as have one in my house but instructions seemed clear, pairing and everything else just clicked into place using software and signal boost was immediate turning the weak connection into a much better message.
Fast enough for the needs of the doorbell but I would always recommend lots of research if using to share multiple connections as you may need a faster/better model.
For my needs and considering the price this is hard to beat.
Excellent produc
I had a little trouble getting it to set up, but it was just me not following instructions. Now I have great signal in the dead spot up in the loft room. Much better than more expensive signal extenders I have bought in the past.
5.0 out of 5 stars It works
Plugged it in pressed wps button on router then on unit. Hey presto I now have wifi to the back gate of my garden!
TP Link
The item is not bad. I am in the attic and the wifi signal has always been poor, with the use of this item has improved on it greatly but there are still time the connection shuts down and I have to press retry on the tv and it come back on again. I think the item is pretty good on the whole. My wifi signal is poor in general anyway.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works grea
Works great, full Wi-Fi signal in all of my garde
5.0 out of 5 stars Does what is supposed to do!
Enables me to get a better signal in other rooms in the bungalow.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up
Easy to set up and works well. Used the ethernet socket to connect a cat 6 cable to an outbuilding. Having the AC passthrough is a bonus.
Brillia
This product is amazing. Easy to set up using WPS and has extended the router range and boosted the signal. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Highly recommended.
AMAZING!
I have recently downgraded my broadband, however living in a bigger property the range isn’t great – I bought two of these and have only just set one up for the moment and I am amazed!! The range is excellent! – like I said, I have only just set up so need to give it time but so far so good, definitely worth the purchase!
5.0 out of 5 stars It works!
I was struggling to get a WiFi signal in my bedroom. This does the job perfectly.
Simple to set up – even for a technophobe!
Definitely recommended.
Great produc
Easy to set up , no issues with it. Use it for my Xbox and has helped loads with multiplayer games as I used to lag a lot being far from the wifi
Second access point for my smart gadgets
I have an older one of these that I run in bridge or access point mode just in 2.4ghz so that I connect all my smart devices to that only work with 2.4ghz band. I got one too many smart cameras, sockets and sensors and saturated the bandwidth so I bought this which is the new version to run along side it. Install and setup was far simpler as it works with the app and the webpage via it’s up address. Has all the settings I needed, even set the custom DNS for all my gadgets to my pihole, so that the extra chatty xiaomi devices don’t send too much info out… Connect strength is good enough in our timber frame 3 bed house. Bandwidth is fine so issues with video playback and being pass through it doesn’t obstruct a socket which is a bonus. All around an easy and painless setup.
Works well
This for 20 is a good buy. Simple enough to set up, if your reasonably good with tech.
Mainly bought for a ring doorbell 2 which it’s boosted the WiFi signal by about 25%.
Once it’s set up and working you have to connect each device to the extender, like you would connect to your WiFi router to your device, ie phone or ring doorbell
But overall worth the 20 and working well so would recommend
Working ok – WiFi now stronger upstairs. However during set up (using the Tether app) instead of extending the existing network it wanted to set up a “new” network name with original WiFi name and “_Ext” on the end, which would have meant adding that network to all devices in the house. I simply removed that so it was the same as the existing network name and it seems to work fine. So why did they try to make it a new network??? Weird. Still, relatively cheap and working ok.
I bought two of these earlier in the year so waited to write a review. Before I bought them wifi signal was weak in my kitchen and upstairs, the garden was non existent. My property is build with engineering bricks which are much stronger than normal brick. Using WPS they were extremely easy to pair, I have put one upstairs and one in the kitchen, I can connect now from anywhere including my garden, I can stream and watch anything in the garden now. Only problem I am having is with my Ring doorbell where the signal is still weak, I moved the one from the kitchen into the hall and voil strong connection to my Ring so I guess I need another one. All in all I think a very good product and would recommend. To follow on from my Ring problem I bought another extender, this time it wouldn’t connect using WPS so I had to use the app which worked fine. It has reduced the RSSI on my Ring from 75 to 46 so all is good.
Easy to set up using WPS and works well - for a while
Bought this to replace an identical model which was used to connect my Youview box (which is wired Ethernet only) to my main internet wireless router for streaming Netflix etc. It worked faultlessly for 3.5 years (3 year warranty!), then dropped its wireless connection and would not re-connect to my wireless router.
This new one worked perfectly first time and seems more responsive when setting up (it’s v6 hardware versus my old v2 hardware so they’ve obviously souped it up a bit).
Major advantage is the mains passthrough.
Main gripe is that the buttons and indicator lights are on the side and tiny so it’s awkward to see what’s going on unless it’s out on the bench. Not a problem if you fit and forget, but it makes troubleshooting more awkward than it should be.
Easy setup but need to re-scan devices
I bought this extender to improve the signal to my Ring doorbell.
The instructions provided a number of setup methods (installation of an app, use of a URL) however setup was easy via the WPS button on my hub.
Once the extender was set up, I needed to re-scan the network used by my Ring doorbell and select the new entry with the EXT suffix (which took a few attempts) – if you don’t do this then you may assume the extender is defective.

Very happy with our TP-Link TL-WA860RE N300
We live in a 2 bed terraced house, with the router in an outer corner alcove of the front room. The smart TV in the kitchen, on the furthest wall away, would only ever get 1 of 4 bars and drop out frequently. The TV in the back bedroom above it was the same, and it’s Amazon Fire TV stick reported a ‘marginal’ connection, or nothing at all. After plugging the TP-Link into an upstairs central electrical socket, the kitchen TV gets a consistent 2 bars, and the back bedroom Amazon Fire TV stick reports mostly a ‘very good’ connection, sometimes flicking to ‘good’. These improvements are more than enough and we are delighted with the results. We are on Virgin Media 100MB, with a Hub 3 router, and the setup was super quick and easy using the WPS pairing. No need for an app or website, and we didn’t even have to faff with accounts or passwords. The new network has the same name as the existing one with ‘_EXT’ on the end, so all we did was scan for this new network on both TVs and connect using the same password. The TP-Link only has the 2.4GHz channel which gives us a 30mbps connection speed, but it is very consistent and does not fluctuate at all like the 5GHz channel/100mbps speed on the Hub 3.
Good extende
Using pressing WPS BUTTON on the Router which is sim support 3 network (portable) not fiber link then the WPS button on the extender it connect within a minute easy.
The house is a internet died spot
(Victoria walls more like a war time bunker )
And the sim signal is poor due to outside surroundings
In the main room signal is about 9mbps in front of the router, and 2 Mbps in the TV room we use a 4k Amazon TV stick (SAD SIGNAL)
With the extender place, halfway between the two rooms, the TV room signal increased to an average of 5mpbs
Can play Netflix now so some improvement
I think if the outside signal was stronger and the walls were modern the extender would work very good
For 21 would recommend
This unassuming little device has given our wi-fi a new lease of life, and enabled me to work out in the garden throughout the summer. So easy to set up, such a low footprint, and in my tests the speed of the broadband connection is as good through the extender as it is through the main wi-fi, even when I’m sat next to the wi-fi and the extender is 2 rooms away. Plus you don’t even lose the plug socket you plug it into, or the one next to it, and it’s one of the cheapest devices I found when searching for something to do this job. Just a couple of words of caution. If you (or someone else in your house!) do plug something into the plug socket it exposes, be mindful that when you unplug that device you can sometimes pull the wifi extender out of the socket, and then you lose your improved wifi range (and it might take a while to realise why). Also, once you’ve set it all up, you do need to set your devices to connect to the new access point (with the suffix _EXT), this isn’t mentioned in the instructions as far as I remember, and it caught me out because I assumed that wasn’t necessary. Those caveats aside, this has seen me videoconferencing in the garden and using my phone in rooms that previously had no wifi all through the summer – for this price, I can’t fault it!
This product despite being a functional powerline adapter and passthrough only boost the wireless signal you already have? I thought it would allow me to connect to the powerline network wirelessly, it doesn’t. I tried boosting the signal to my phone in my mums flat from the hallway to the bathroom room with the router 10m from it, and it less than 2.5m from the phone it couldn’t boost the signal through a pine door… I did go to return it, but in the end I’ve kept it to go work the other TP-Link powerline. It work fine otherwise… Tp-Link are good quality and I’m not going to stop buying from them, that said I tried the next level up an adapter with a S’trek looking aerial and dual band and the 5g network is stronger but the signal is just boosting the wireless you have, not using the pwoerline network which to me would be the poi
Once Installed It Really Does Extend Wifi Range Well
I bought this for my daughters University flat to extend the wifi coverage from the router in the lounge so it reached her bedroom. It should be said once installed it did do this very well.
They only had one plug socket in the hall way (where it needed to go) and so it was a great feature that you still get the plug socket after install thanks to the design of including that in the extender.
The issue was install. It did not work by just pushing the “WPS” buttons on router and extender. So I had to talk my daughter through browsing to the router on her laptop and then logging in and going through the settings to force the router to “find” the extender using WPS in settings… once it was ‘paired’ using a plug socket nearby in the lounge as per above. It was then possible to just unplug and move to the hall way plug socket.
So it was NOT easy to install. I don’t know if that was the fault of the router or the extender or both !
In summary it is good and does extend the wifi really well, buts it far from easy to install and you need some basic network knowledge to get it working… not for the faint hearted….
SUMMARY: Easy and fast setup and near enough to your full speeds, BUT the access point is treated as a seperate unit. WORKS WITH SKY Q ROUTER 1ST TIME
REASON: Given that I didn’t want to pay full price for a sky q booster, I settled for a 3rd party one from TP-LINK as I already have some of their products.
SETUP: It’s super easy regardless how you choose to set it up ie through web browser, WPS or the mobile app. You’re up and running in less than 5 minutes. The quick setup mode configures both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. I set this up with the Sky Q router and using the app the process was smooth. Take note you’ll want the app or run through the browser if you need to change any settings, more later….
As for the speeds and stability it’s exactly what I expected from it, no drop outs whatsoever. On my wireless devices (console, phone, laptops etc.) I near enough get 80-90% of my max download speed and 90-100% of my upload.
CRITICISM: This is almost perfect for a simple wifi extending solution, but the reason for not giving it 5 stars is how the network is managed. The problem is that the extender is effectively another wifi access point meaning that you need to make a choice between connecting to your main router or the extender. Even if you give it the same SSID (Name) it won’t recognise that you’ve moved to a different spot where the signal is weaker from the extender and stronger from the router; it doesnt “pass you on” to the next nearest point. For example you move from your bedroom to the kitchen with your smartphone, it doesnt automatically switch between the router and extender. For static devices like a smart TV, a desktop PC (if you run a wireless connection) or console this isn’t an issue.
BEST SOLUTION: I recommend downloading the TP-LINK Tether app to manage the extender and the manually changing the names of the access point eg wifi 2.4 (router) and wifi 2.4ex (extender). The only pain is that youll have to keep switching between them if you shift from 1 place to the next. It completely up to you if you want to do this and the app makes it very clear that anyone could do it.
CONCLUSION: The product delivers what it was designed to do; boost your wifi signals and eliminate dead spots in your home. Apart from the lack of “handing off” capabilities, I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a really easy “plug and play” solution.
Took a while to set up, works well, but prob should have brought a dual band extender...
Was looking for a wifi extender as my wireless router is downstairs at front of house and I had a wifi dead zone in my upstairs back bedroom… reviews on this item was favourable so decided to bite the bullet and get it.
While it is working fine and I’m getting about 25Mbps now in the wifi dead zone, I kinda wish I had brought a dual-band wifi extender now as I have superfast cable internet (Virgin) but can only partially exploit it in this area… So it’s good to consider looking at whether you really need the 5Ghz band on top of the 2.4Ghz band – esp if you have a fast wifi router.
Setting up the extender was a bit more tricky, it was not simply plug and push the WPS button as instructions state, tried this a few times and then gave up in trying to get it to connect via this method. In the end I had to access my wireless router settings and configure it through there. So if you have trouble setting it up, try doing this and see if it sorts it before giving up.
Excellent WiFi boosting solutio
Works fine. Only 4 stars because the set up instructions were not straight forward – and I am pretty confident with techy stuff. I followed the instruction but it didn’t connect and then when I did it a different way (my own way) it just suddenly connected. I don’t know however if the set up is right, but it has stayed connect, but while it uses the same password as the router, it does show up as a different wi-fi source on your devices. therefore it wont automatically connect to the TP-Link if you’re still even vaguely connected to your primary router signal – you have to manually switch over. That’s not an issue for me as I have it mainly for the smart TV in the conservatory so its permanently connected to the TP-Link. And i have to say it hasn’t yet dropped the signal once (5 bars) in the 4 weeks I’ve had it so it is impressive.
I would buy another and probably will for other areas of my vas
Worked - eventuall, set up was a complete drama!
We bought this product with a slight amount of trepidation, having seen some of the reviews – many good, some not so good. It arrived flawlessly, thanks to Prime and we set to to install it – we needed extended coverage in our small warehouse.
Well then the fun started! We have a TP-Link router, so all should be well – NO! Firstly we tried the simple WPS buttons – seemed to work OK, but then we got this strange new wireless network we’d never seen before – WTF! So start again, this time with the ethernet cable – no good still the same strange network. OK, reset everything including the router (can’t find the router password, another drama!) – start again with the cable. Hallelujah our old network is back, happy days! Bated breath does the extender work – NO!! At this point other matters required our attention so it was slammed into a power socket awaiting its return to Amazon. Imagine our surprise when an hour later we came to look at it only to find it was working properly! It has continued to work properly since then – go figure! It should not be this stressful to set up.
I bought this because the previous set up that I was using just wasnt working well. It was a Netgear WAG102 Access Point, and it was terrible. It would drop connections, stop loading, and so on. Since my routers WiFi doesnt quite reach the bedroom, I was after another solution.
I came across this and since recieving it, it works extremely well. It has the simplest setup I think any device ever has. The only downside is, however, that if you want to have custom settings, such as a different SSID (having the device “clone” your routers WiFi can be confusing for some devices) then you need to enter the configuration page, and this was sightly tricker than they let on, especially AFTER you’ve set the device up and linked it to your routers WiFi. If you arent connected to it, and theres no way to tell which is which since they both have the same SSID, the “tplinkrepeater.net” URL does not work. So getting onto the device means either going out of range of your router enough so that it switches connections, or finding the IP address of the repeater. I did this by logging into my main router and going to “IP Filtering” since it shows everything that is connected to it. From here, I got the repeaters address, and connecting to it was no problem using the standard 192.168 address.
Beyond that, however, the device works fine and I am very happy with the purchase
To be honest, this is really easy to setup. All you have to do is follow the instructions. I followed method 2 and it worked right off the bat.
However, since I am using BT Home Hub 4, the problems with the Page redirects started, so after some search on the internet I managed to fix it with these steps:
1) Go to your router admin page (type 192.168.1.254 in your browser), choose advanced settings, navigate to Home Network / Smart setup and disable it. This will disable the configuration page to appear on new users, which would impede your TP LINK from accessing internet properly in pages like youtube and amazon.
2) If you already connected the device, delete it in the list of Home Network / Devices
If the problem still persists, do the following:
3) Go to settings page of the TP Link (in your browser, type the ip address assigned to it like 192.168.1.X, where X is probably between 64 and 252)
4) Navigate to Network/Lan: choose static IP, write 192.168.1.X where X is between 2 and 63 on the IP Address
5) Navigate to DHCP settings: choose DHCP server off
6) Reboot the device and it should work. Repeat step 2 if it doesn’t
This thing is great and works pretty well (got it 7 meters away from my router and it boosts a lot), it’s the hub that was at fault here for configuration.
A good unit but just watch where you plug this i
This was very easy to set up. Plugged it into a socket near the router, pressed the wps button on the router and then within a few seconds pressed the wps button on this, and it matched first time. I’ve relocated it several times to get a sweet spot, and it’s picked up the router’s signal automatically each time without the need to match it up again or press any more buttons.
When relocating it, it does take a little bit of time to indicate that it has caught the router’s signal, about 30 seconds I found.
There are instructions on how to set this up if you don’t have a wps button on your router but I didn’t need this so can’t comment on how easy this alternative setup would be.
One note in the documentation says not to locate this near a microwave. I’ve got mine located about 10 foot away from the microwave, but each time I’ve used the microwave I’e had to reset this by turning it off and back on again. No big deal since I don’t use the microwave that often, but I would hardly say 10 foot was “near” a microwave.
A bit strange that and the reason why I’ve only given 4 stars, but otherwise this is a very good wifi extender that I’m happy to have purchased.
