I was hesitant that this would be another Chinese gimmick that doesn’t work like it’s supposed to. I was wrong. This is British designed and manufactured. It works flawlessly every time. If you do any drilling at all then this is worth the purchase. I’ve used it so many times.
It sprays evenly, accurately and reliabley. It will go through thicker parts than I expected. I’ve sprayed it through 50mm and managed to get a mark from it. The mark is smaller when using on a thick piece, but it’s still there. It’s almost a chalk, rather than a paint, so it rubs off most surfaces pretty well. It leaves a bit of a mark on printer paper after wiping, but nothing on wallpaper, painted walls, or treated wood. Not that anyone would use it on printer paper, but I was curious. It shouldn’t need to be wiped off, either because it’s accurate enough that I trust it.
I’ve found it really useful when needing to mark something at a stretched distance, or confined space. Far better than a pencil, or marker tool. It’s more visible from an angle than a pencil mark. Easier to see in low light conditions, such as inside a cupboard.
I didn’t buy mine from Amazon, I bought it from a local hardware store, but I’m so glad I bought it, that I came on here to leave a review.
    5 stars all the way!

    Pros:
    Genuine product
    Very fast delivery
No instructions needed, easy to use
Leaves a bright green mark that is easy to see
Perfect for marking up backboxes and other hard-to-reach areas
Non-permanent, so it can be easily wiped away

    Cons:
    None that I can find!

    Overall:
I am very impressed with the Marxman chalk spray. It is a genuine product that arrived quickly and was easy to use. The bright green mark is easy to see, even in dark or difficult-to-reach areas. The spray is non-permanent, so it can be easily wiped away if needed.

I ordered the Marxman chalk spray from Amazon and it arrived within 2 days. The product was packaged well and there were no signs of damage. The spray came with no instructions, but it was easy to figure out how to use. Simply twist the top of the nozzle and press against a screw hole to dispense the chalk. The chalk comes out in a fine mist, so you can be precise with your markings.

I used the chalk spray to mark up some backboxes for electrical sockets. The chalk left a bright green mark that was easy to see. I was able to easily see the marks even in dark areas.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who does any DIY

5.0 out of 5 stars Marxman chalk spray - A must-have for DIYers!

Spotted a joiner using these on YouTube and decided to try them. WOW! Perfect little dust spots ready for drilling, even through thick beams. Green top shallow wood, say up to 30mm, black top for deeper. Little puff of fluorescent dust what wipes off without staining. Brilliant idea!

This is a bit of an expensive but very handy way to mark holes when mounting items to walls. Particularly if you’re working on your own. I use for electric car chargers, IP boxes, outdoor sockets. Markings are bright and easy to find. If you end up not drilling where you’ve marked, the mark will wash/fade away as it’s only chalk and not paint.

Definitely worth paying for, saves time and is accurate, the only downside I’ve noticed is having to shake it before basically every time or it won’t give as good of a mark but that’s nitpicking really, it is just chalk so can be wiped away or is washed away in the rain if outside, worth a try for a spark

Love these and have brought many over the years – but even for a DIY’er they don’t last very long, maybe 6 months of occasional use before you run out? I wouldn’t use them professionally (carpenters pencils every time) but great at home.

This is one of those inventions you may think is a gimmick but once you use it you never want to be without one. I’ve built my own home and one of these has lasted almost the whole process. So this twin pack will probably last the rest of my life! Its far more effective than a pencil as it will mark even on holes where a pencil would not fit in. A really useful addition to your toolbox.

When marking for holes or putting boxes outside. Mesuring for brackets or hitting thendrill holes first time. This is the product for you and will aid in daily jobs making marking up, a doddle!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI saw this on Dragons Den and bought one. I have used it building an extension on my house, fitting out a kitchen utility room and other jobs and it has been absolutely brilliant at marking out holes for fixing things to each other. I built a lean to greenhouse a few days ago and – heaven forbid – it ran out!!! It put me back to ages before trying to poke things through holes and mark surfaces to drill for plugs for screws. I ordered TWO and marked them 1 and 2 so when 1 runs out I will have 2 to use while I order another. I didn’t realise how brilliant this was until it ran out, never again!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLove how this isn’t permanent, but the bright green is so beautifully obvious that you can do what you need to do (screw holes, demarcation points etc) use it, rub off any excess and tell everyone else you’ve just got a good eye

Every DIYer should have one…..in fact anyone who needs to drill a hole at any time should have one in their tool box. Brilliant price for 2 at Amazon, cheaper than local builders merchants.

What a great product, as a professional Handyman I need to mark holes through items for mounting cabinets etc most days and this takes the tricky old pencil mark out of picture completely. Marks holes with a perfect circle through the item and have used in depths of at least 25mm , simple superb accurate , a must for anyone mounting anything.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSome time ago I did a review of these – well a single one – and slated it. I said that it was impossible to get a sensible mark on a surface.

And, well, I was wrong. So wrong that I ended up buying more.

What I found was this. If you use these markers on any surface that’s easy to clean then, yes, getting an accurate mark is unlikely. However, this is a killer tool on matt surfaces – and to be fair where you don’t need millimetre accuracy.

These little markers absolutely rock when it comes to marking out things such as wall fittings for lights on plaster or brick. Instead of faffing around trying to get a pencil mark in when holding a mounting bracket level you simply push and you get a nice lurid green mark on the wall where you need to drill a hole for a plug.

For the uninitiated what you are using is a chalk filled pressurised can the size of a marker pen. You simply push down and you get a puff of green air which splats a smallish mark on the surface.

So, used in the correct application these downhole markers make life a million times easier. Not much use on a shiny or very smooth surface but for wall hanging? Superb.
