Awesome bit of ki
This will suck like a Dyson if fitted properly. Don’t put flat but lean on an angle to let air out and the pump does the rest. Works very well
New Garden Water Butt Pump
The Pump arrived on time, good service. Needed new pump in a hurry. Chose this one and have used it once so far. It was easy to put together and operate. Has good water pressure and I think it will be OK for moving water to different locations etc.
It is ideal for transferring and using water from rainwater buts
We purchased this pump to transfer water from one rainwater butt to another so we could make use use of rain water instead of using tap water to irrigate our garden.
Auto primes in low level of water, not like my previous pumps. I’ve got a garage driveway at the bottom of a hill, which floods in heavy or consistent rain. So I dug a soak away lined with plastic crates to handle a heavy downpour. The pump is in a connected sump, in a small tank ( cold water header tank) which collects the sediment. This has to be cleaned out twice a year. The discharge goes 60ft down the garden into the rain water gulley. With the float being self contained it works well in a small space/tank. My last pump had seized when the bearing cage had corroded. This was a different brand. Maybe this one will last longer.
Works fine. "Arm" is too sho
When our 350L water butt is less than 3/4 full, it hangs out of the water (or a at least switches off). The arm needs to be about 30cm longer. Not a big deal if the bottom of the butt is clean, you can unhook it and sit the pump on bottom.
Easy to use with garden hose
I bought this to replace a pump in a rainwater storage tank that had failed. It is very good, well made and easy to use. It has sufficient pressure to use a hand spray attachment on a hose even when pumped from 1 metre underground. The pump also works using water butts. Note that many other pumps on sale are designed for larger diameter commercial hoses and not garden hoses.
5.0 out of 5 stars Submersible water pump
Decent pressure for the pump in this price bracket. Plenty good enough for watering plants through the hose. Not sure if it would be suitable for lawn spraying, it’d struggle to get the spinners going as you would expect from the mains pressure.
4.0 out of 5 stars Using as pond pump to circulate wate
Using it once in a while to circulate water in a large 2 metre deep pond (6 metres x 5 metres approx) , without attaching a hosepipe to drain it!
Only leave on for a couple of hours:
1. Because it says not to leave on permanently
2. Because electricity costs sooooo much
Water circulating nicely, even dredging up some stinky sediment which isn’t too pleasant, but seems to be aerating the pondweed so hopefully it will go away!
My one suggestion is to attach a rope to the handle, that is left outside the pond/pool, because I am having to pull the pump out of the water using the electric cord, which can’t be good for it!
Needed to empty out dirty water from two 1m X 1m X 1.2m deep holes made for soakaways and about 20m of trenches around 900mm deep. Bought a 20m long 1 inch layflat pipe but it didn’t reach the drain so added a bit of hose pipe at the end (3m). It took 4 hours to drain the first pit. 9000l per hour? something didn’t add up I replaced the hose pipe with a propped up bit of soil pipe I had let the 1 inch pipe drain into that, pump drained the second pit in around 15 mins :). To use this pump properly you must have a minimum 1 inch pipe all the way. Anything narrower is going to choke it and I suspect cause it to burn out. Fantastic pump for the price. Takes A couple of mins to clear out the air but once it get going it’s great.
Bought this pump for a shallow ( 1 to 2ft) trench that’s currently collecting dirty ground water.
Pump is extremely easy to set up and the automatic mode was perfect for low levels of water, the suction was very good and displaced a good amount of water in a short period.
I liked this pump very much. Worked perfectly for my needs – essentially pumping from water-butt to rose bed etc.
But on the third use it failed. Just nothing. No hints, just dead. I’m not sure how much water I could have bought for 53, but I suspect it’s a lot. I now have to use the garden tap again, and then find some other way of pumping from the butt. I can’t afford to replace this item. Very very very disappointed. And when I checked the invoice – it was shipped from China, so there is nothing I can do for warranty. Avoid.
Since that review, the supplier sent me a new pump free of charge, and this has worked perfectly. It was such a good service from them, that I now regret my negative comments above. There was no request to return the faulty one, and the replacement arrived VERY quickly. I must have just had one rogue unit, which has now been replaced. I’m very pleased.
Much experience with Jabao pumps and similar, this is definitely the best design for my use!
We have a drainage issue in our sloping back garden which has a fix that groundwater arrives by gravity into our fibreglass pond and needs to be pumped out of the pond into the drainage system, if it is not the garden gets flooded. I have purchased at least five different pumps like Jabao over the last few years. Each time I have to purchase a new impeller a few months later, which can be expensive and difficult to find. I am very impresses with this Fluent design and hope it will last longer. First impressions are excellent. ADDED BONUS because of my layout the hose pipe is some 20 foot lower at discharge. I have found that with this pump design, I can switch the pump on for five minutes (prime) turn off the electricity and because of the design the pump continues to allow water to drain! incredible and true!
Had a bit of an issue with my 1930s house subfloor raised water level, combined with an old (currently inaccessible) junction box hanging at a point that means when the mega rains come, which has been the last 4-5 weeks, our electrics trip.
We’ve been using this to keep the water level down (it only gets to ~3.5cm before stopping) until we get some hot weather, the high water level drops, and the electrician can get through our crawl space to fix the issue.
For this purpose it’s been good. Sometimes takes a minute to get going, but it gets there with a jiggle. I haven’t used the float switch (I just keep the switch elevated until it starts to gurgle) but it pumps out fast enough. I wish I’d gone for a regular hose over a flat one though, as any hint of a corner/turn causes the flat hose issues.
I have a collapsed rainwater drain and due to recent bad weather I thought this would be the solution for a temporary fix to stop flooding! Wow did it move the water! I had to tie the float to the down pipe as the depth of water wasn’t sufficient to use the auto cut off that the float provided. ( The pump needs to be fully submerged to get the cut off to float above the pump as the water level drops the float drops and cuts the pump) I had to keep the water level low by manually switching the pump on and off not recommended if you are not around to make sure the pump doesn’t run dry without sufficient water for the pump to operate without burning out.
Used with Silverline 32 mm lay flat hose just make sure you have the correct size jubilee clip!! The hose flies off otherwise such is the pressure this pump provides.
Great piece of kit I personally would recomend this for price and service
I emptied my garden pond a couple of times with this. In the end it worked VERY well, but it took a little while to get there. It’s important to know that it will hardly work at all if you try to use a hose that’s too small —I think the one i tried at first was one and a quarter or one and a half inches in diameter, and with that connected it shifted about a thimble full of water every couple of minutes. It’s not obvious that this would be a problem because it comes with a plastic attachment bit that can be cut to size including those smaller sizes. Eventually I just removed that entirely and ran the pump without it, and then the pump basically imitates niagara falls. It emptied my 500 gallon pond in well under ten minutes. I had to hold the pump just below the water level to do things that way, so the outlet was just above the surface. The jet of water was a few inches across and sprayed a distance of about fifteen feet. If you can’t do that because the water needs to go further you will obviously need a hose, so get a big (wide) one. Anyhow, this thing can really move some water so for me this was a great purchase.
