Big files are ok and there are two sets if Xmas fine files that are a bit delicate. Bonus is a wire scratch brush to de-pin the files is included. Happy!

Why am I reviewing these again? Hmm.

Well, good selection of files that can be used on wood or soft metals (only a few of the files are suitable for metals) or even plastics.

Case is a nice touch and contributes towards a neat little package.

The wood rasp file set its made very qualitative, with nice finished wood handles, made of alloy steel, the teeth are durable, and hardened to have extra strength. The set includes files with steel needles of different sizes and for several projects. The handles are a bit too small but quite sturdy and still quite easy and comfortable to use. The product was delivered on time and well packaged.

Comprehensive set which includes intricate files for that fine work. Overall a good quality set which also includes a small wire brush and a nice bright good quality zip-up pouch to keep your files organized, it is also nice and bright and matches some other amazon’s own brand sets that I have. Would I buy this set, Yes I believe it’s good value for money and great quality like most of Amazon’s other branded tools.

if you found this review helpful please give it a thumbs up.

A decent set of files is a very useful addition to any toolkit. And this is a very comprehensive and high quality set. As they are Amazon’s UMI brand I was expecting something good, and I am not disappointed.

Let’s start with the case, it is finished with the distinctive UMI branding and made of good quality synthetic fabric, that feels rather like heavy canvas and secured by a good quality and heavy duty zip, the only slight disappointment is the elastic, which feels rather flabby and I am not sure how long it will last.

The files themselves are a very good selection of flat, half round, round and triangular large files, then there is also a selection of 12 needle files in different profiles. Each file is very accurately machined and the handles are comfortable to use and securely attached to the files.

I have tried these out on both wood and metal, and they have worked well at anything I have tried them on.

I think that the asking price of 21.99 is actually good value for money.

Thank you for reading my review. The price quoted is correct at the time of writing. I hope that you’ve found this review interesting and helpful, if you have please consider giving it a ‘helpful’ vote.

Nice variety of different tools. All are good quality, handles are comfortable for me and it comes in the case, so no mess. Also for the quality, it has a very attractive price (22 with the prime at the time of this review). Good even as a gift. Recommendable.

What do you get for the brother who has everything his hobby could ask for… more woodworking equipment! The set arrived in a solid case with all the tools neatly stored inside.
The set is complete with for large files and 12 mini files for hard to reach areas. Also the cleaning brush included will prove very handy.
I’m actually quite tempted to get another one of these sets for my dad as I saw him eyeing it out of the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice set, perfect for DIY mad brothe

A decent set of files that are much better than the price would suggest. A comprehensive selection in a carry-all pouch would make a super present to yourself or somebody who spends time tinkering in the shed/garage.
The handles are well made and robust. The files feel good and should last a while.

    Pros:
    – Exceptional value for money, not really sure how they can make much of a profit at this price point (22.99 at the time of review).
    – The case is robust and has a good zip
    – Brush to clean the file following use
    – Good range of files which should cover you for most applications
    – Comfortable handles

    Cons:
    – If you have really big hands you may find the length of the handle a little small.

I hope you find this review helpful.

This is a fantastic beginners set, or gift for someone who likes tools. They are very inexpensive and work well for the money.

It comes with 4 larger 8inch files, and then 12 smaller 4inch files and a cleaning brush. There are a variety of grades as well as profiles, for example course rasps, fine files, square, round, semi circular.

They work well but do dull quickly on metalwork I’ve found. Again, for the cost, this is to be expected and they will work very well for a hobbiest or light work. The case is nice and keeps them all in one place!

16 rasps, a brass wire cleaning brush and a carrying case for 23 pounds – That’s a little under 1.10 per tool, which is surely unbeatable value. If these weren’t Amazon’s reputable UMI brand, one would assume they might be a bit shonky, but of course this isnt the case: They are really tough and well constructed, with soft- grippy handles: 4 large rasps and 12 smaller specialised shapes give you all the options you need, and of course you get the brush and storage case. all you’ll ever need for under 25 quid. Astonishing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, excellent quality.

Great set of files all in it’s own case

So easy to keep together and you know where they all are

I use it for metal, it was very solid.

    Good quality product.

Handles are comfortable and give good grip.

    An excellent set of files

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo, I finally got around to building myself a nice display table this month. My old woodwork teacher would have been proud. Actually my old woodwork teacher would have been shocked. I met him some twenty years after leaving school and he still remembered my previous attempt. He said it was an occasional table. On the basis, I think, that the rest of the time it certainly wasn’t fit to be used. The slope was just the most obvious of a litany of design flaws that evidently caused him great mirth, even two decades after he last saw it (or me).
Anyway, I promised my son that I had studied woodwork and was perfectly capable of making a nice table. And not just occasionally.
And so, this Autumn, he called my bluff and I gave it a go – just as I spotted this set on Amazon.

    What is in the set?
You get sixteen files – four 8-inch or 200mm, one flat, one circular rod, one semi-circular, and one triangular. The flat and the semi-circular are c. 1.5cm across, the triangular is 1cm equilateral, and the circular rod is around 6mm diameter. They are a mix of cuts- generally first or second, and the teeth extend right to the edge, as you might expect. All have been given an anti-rust light oil coating. You also get twelve ‘needle files’ around 10cm long each, with a variety of profiles (flat, triangle, rod circular, semi-circular) for detail and fine work. Finally, the set includes a wooden brush with fairly stiff bristles, and a zippered black and orange case that goes very well with those supplied with other Amazon branded tools (and, strangely, with Sony cameras).

    What are they made of?
High carbon, low alloy steel (T12 and GCr15 bearing steel) – which ought to have good wear properties and certainly has lasted through this project, for shaping curves and making formed edges.

    Would you buy them again?
    Yes.
It’s not the sort of thing you buy every year, just occasionally (see what I did, there?), but they worked well, were of good amateur use quality and very good value for money.
    I would definitely recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent woodworking set for amateur woodworkers (and occasional professional use too)

THis is a pretty good set of files. The large files cut quite well although I feel that they are between bastard cut and fine but good for general shaping and cleaning up a surface The triangular one was much smoother that the others. None of them made a rapid impression on the edge 1/4″ thick duraluminium but did clean up the sawn edge quite well.
The needle files are very good. Sharp and in various useful shapes for finer jobs and this was my area of main interest. Well worth the money for these for any modeller or for finer work in small areas.

This is a really comprehensive set of files, being Amazon own brand, you expect quality. This doesn’t disappoint at all, it really is superb — as are other Amazon own brand sets I have (wrenches etc).

Again, as is usual with UMI brand, the set comes with a distinctive UMI brand case, very strong, with tough canvas like material, and a smooth heavy-duty zipper. You can keep the files all together, without rooting around in a toolbox.

The set is very comprehensive, with large traditional file range (different coarseness levels), plus a wide and varied selection of needle files, in fact overall, every file you’ll ever need. There is an additional soft wire (brass) brush.

Quality is exceptional, close inspection shows just how well-made they are, and have strong ergonomically shaped handles.

Overall, a super addition to any toolkit, essential for any DIYer, professional metalworker alike. Great quality and value, highly recommended.

I hope you have found this helpful.

A really nice set of files – with four full-sized and 12 x 6″ files, plus a soft wire brush for cleaning.

The handles are all really grippy and the metal abrasive surfaces decent enough for hardwood. All medium grade which should get a fine finish if used gently. The wire brush is quite soft but ideal to get in and clean the surfaces.

Good selection of profiles and a lovely case which actually holds everything in place. Excellent value for a great quality set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality set.
