Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLost it in a tree on first spin (because I’m an idiot). Ordered a replacement, and now take more notice of wind direction! These can really fly so make sure you’ve got lots of open space

My Grandson Loved it, but was unable to use it. Probably would suit an older child. Hopefully he’ll grow into it. He’s only 3 1/2. We saw a slightly older child using one, which is why I bought it.

The children have always loved these toys. Having lost the last one over the summer, they were absolutely delighted with this replacement. Hours of fun to be had on the park and in the garden. Loved by both the five year old and the nine year old. A nice big size too.

Firstly you need a lot of room, do not let someone just try it in doors, it breaks things. So it was taken out to play with the dogs , one of them was terrified and the other run off with it and started chewing it and that worried me in career got the wires inside it . I personally think it would be fantastic for children to play with, but I don’t think it is safe for dogs.

I’ve never seen my 2 year old dog more excited! He is absolutely crazy about chasing this. It flies really well and he catches it safely – he doesn’t want to return it, though, he loves it too much!
This is for obedient dogs which can resist chomping on the blades or the rim round the blades, because you could bite through it pretty quickly. Ours gained many teeth marks but was easily pushed back into shape and worked just as well.
Tip: have the blades nearly vertical when you launch, it lifts off better. It’s almost uncontrollable which direction it’ll go in, though, and how high!
The lights work well (only when it’s flying, so it goes dark when it lands).
I’m just ordering a second one because we lost the blades. Wish they supplied spare blades, but we can’t live without it now. 🙂

This toy is a great stocking filler its reasonably priced and young children can enjoy playing. I would advised outside and not in the house if you don’t want any breakage, as we all know accidents happen. Basically with this good old fashion toy you pull the cord and the gears course the spinner to spin, the faster you pull the faster it spins causing it to light up and fly into the air. Good quality and robust toy.

You may notice from my title the emphasis on outdoor. Because when you buy this for a child as a gift, first thing they will do is send it flying in your house, so make sure you mention to go outside to test it as it’s a lot bigger and heavier than these things usually are!
It’s actually massively fun, the launcher is robust as is the disc. It detects when it’s spinning and lights up, so makes circles of light when it flies.
It’s simple but effective. Much easier to launch than the usual sort too. And it’s fun. Would recommend.

This is a fab little spinner toy, a really basic concept and easy to use, it’s a great toy that I can play with my 3 year old outdoors as it encourages her to run around (she loves chasing the spinning top as it flies through the sky and seeing where it is going to land).

Its a very simple idea, a spinning wheel (with LED lights that glow impressively if used when dark), sits on top of a hand-held lever. A short string attaches to the lever and when tugged it spins the wheel so much that it jumps off the lever and flies up into the sky. The more force you use, the higher it goes.

For the price this is excellent value as it encourages outdoor play and is something parents can do with their children. It’s also quite large and is nicely packaged so would make a good small gift. Suitable for kids of all ages, we’ve had so much fun with this in our house!

The flying disc makes a colourful pattern with its LEDs when used in the dark, and although it’s a simple and seemingly rather old-fashioned toy, children of all ages seem to love it.

It does need a fair bit of force on the cord to get it to fly at a decent height, and younger children might struggle to muster the muscle power, but they do really enjoy using it.

Don’t even think about using it indoors, though – it’s a bit like a flying Beyblade on steroids, and it will play havoc with your decor!

I had one of these helicopters when I was a kid, mine was much smaller. Well made and the additional lights make a great effect. Dad’s will love this, and play for hours. Great toy.

We’re fans of Battat products and this one is quite old school. It’s easy to use it and our girls really enjoyed playing with it. It’s a powerful toy for what it is and it’s definitely for outdoor play only and it fair takes off and you can get quite a bit of height. The fact that it’s illuminous gives it that added bit of fun. For under a tenner it’s a nice stocking filler toy for this time of year.

My son really like it and he loves playing with this.

Live how easy this toy is to use and love how much outdoor fun and joy it brings. So easy to set up, switch on the lights, pull the string and away you go basically.
It can actually soar quite high and stays up there more than long enough.. We had such fun playing with this and it’s ni e to have a more traditional family fun outdoor toy.

I remember these from when I was a kid … all they have done is added some light up LED’s since then. Basically you pull the draw string and the gearing causes the lightweight spinner to whiz around so quickly it propels itself off the launcher and heads for the sky. The more vigorous you pull the string the more the gearing makes the spinner spin and so the higher and further it will fly away too. DON’T fly it in the house … something will break … and if you use it in the garden then you need to accept it will fly into your neighbors garden 🙂 A park is the best place for it. Good for agres 6 and above ?!

Showed this to my mum who says that she remembers having something similar to it as a child. So this is really a new take on a tried and tested toy. When I tried it outside I thought it was great fun. You really do need to use this outside as you will need the space. Also I advise you to not use it if it is very windy as it is apt to go off course.

This is much bigger than expected. Over a foot diameter blade circle and with a chunky hand holder/ cord pull device.

There’s a little tab you must pull on that to allow the batteries to work.

There is a knack to getting it to work: first rest the blades on the hand holder and then firmly and quickly pull the cord. Be careful not to get your finger trapped between the loop and hand holder on your return after the pull, and ensure you have space for it to fly.

It’s quite powerful and much better then I thought it would be.

I’d call it a stocking filler but it’s so massive that’s probably not possible!

To get the best out of this item you need a really wide open space and possibly best at dusk or night time so you see the lights when it spins. None of us normals will have a garden big enough to fully enjoy this, but a local park will be suffice. At first look I thought it might be a bit flimsy but not at all, after a few tugs and letting it fly, it was ace! I am pleased at the packaging too, as it hasn’t got countless pointless products bulking it up. And even better…batteries included, yay!
If you give this a seriously good tug it can raise up to over twenty or thirty feet, and the same in length, with wind it could be nuts.

I fully recommend this product, as it is seriously good old Sokol fun.

Awesome toy. It comes well packaged with a recyclable cardboard backing and is ready to be played with straight away. It’s really simple to use and so much fun. My 7 year old loves it! Simply pull back the string on the launch pad and watch it go, you will need a lot of room to play with this though but honestly, it’s so much fun.

I ordered this with my Grandson in mind plus the fact that I had something very similar when I was a kid…waaay back in the day!
This is very similar to that memory but larger and lights up!
    A great little stocking filler!

This was bigger than expected but in a good way!
    Very easy to use,
The kids love that it lights up!
Obviously can use in daytime but for the full effect of the lights, would need to use in the dark

Great toy. Reminds me of back in the day, but bigger than I remember and quite lightweight

It lights up so is quite a spectacular light show if done in the dark.

My granddaughter is going to love this dint think my daughter in law will though

    Batteries included.

This Battat BX 1592Z Light Up Disco Flyer would make a very good stocking filler for a child above about 6 and less than 98. I don’t think it would suit small children as it does take a bit of oomph to hold the handle and pull the cord.

The flying disc can travel a bit so maybe better used in deserted parks. In the street it would be bouncing off parked cars and in smaller gardens it could be landing over the neighbours fence.

However, it was tremendous fun to fly and my ten-year-old grandson thought it was cool. In the dark with the flashing LEDs his remark was “wow granddad”.

At first, I thought the LEDs had failed as they were not illuminated but that soon changed and they light up quite bright when in motion. I did try to take a picture while in flight but my camera skills are somewhat lacking and the only picture I got is quite blurred and the flyer nearly landed.

A definite thumbs up from me (and the grandson).

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow Granddad

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a five star toy as long as children use it. If it is used by adults, it’s a three star product (I will elaborate below). So, assuming a parent will be playing with children, it’s a four star average.

My children really enjoy taking this out for a spin. It’s difficult to get them to want to stop, which is a sign of a good toy. It’s so simple to use. Flick the little switch to turn on the LEDs, pop it on to the mount, hold at arms length and tug the cord hard. The disc will soar in the air for a few metres, looking quite cool as it does so. It is possible to catch your knuckles, so gloves would offer protection against that (it never has happened to my children, only me, so maybe smaller hands don’t have this issue).

When I use it, I can get some serious height, which the children love – however it’s not designed for adult strength. After a few strong pulls (perhaps seven or eight), it didn’t retract the cable properly. Easily resolved by twisting the top around to wind it back up, after which it retracted once more. It did this a few times, so I hope it can always be resolved that easily.

The marketing text suggests playing catch with this. however the plastic is quite hard and blades taper to a thin edge, which isn’t easy on fingers – personally, I was suggesting that my children did not play catch with it. Also, under no circumstances use this indoors (which I did at first…). It will ricochet with some speed; ornaments beware!

Despite some of those warnings, the most important fact is that my children love playing with this toy. For the price, it’s an easy one to recommend.

    Great retro toy .

These space spinners are great fun , this one is on the better side , the batteries are included , you pull the string and the hoop spins and takes off , lights up and flies through the air .

It’s going to make a good extra present for my grandson this Christmas .

For under a Tenner you can’t complain the build quality is ok and it will get played with instead of forgotten about .

Great fun toy, easy to assemble and great to play with. It’s nice and bright and lights up. Not so sure about durability though, still a good wee toy to get out and about. It would make a great wee stocking filler at Christmas

Given the price….maybe four is too harsh – it’s a great toy to bulk up your gift selection for under 10. Will provide your kids with a good half an hour of active fun outside on the day and will potentially be left until it’s a bit warmer to play with it outside.
Sturdy, does light up, and not easy to get off the handle – spins well, gives out a solid ring of colourful lights, but you do need to yank on the cord with a bit of force to get it airborne. Still – a great toy to get them running around.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good way to get your kids out of the house for under a tenner. Lol.

There has been many iterations of these handheld flyers before, It’s certainly nothing new, but, This is definitely a very well made example. The pull cord on the launch handle gives you a sense of confidence that it will not snap nor will enthusiastic children be able to break it. I suppose the only weak point is the UFO top part itself as it is susceptible to get caught in a tree or similar. I would recommend taking it to a very open large Parkland the first time you use it so you can get an idea just how high it can go it really is very impressive and will take you by surprise!
