I find, when I use lifting straps, that I never quite get the same tension on both straps. These, on the other hand, are just fine in that respect. I bought the rubber ones, rather than the leather and I’m very happy with the grip.

I use these for Romanian deadlifts so that I can lift 60kg comfortably and securely otherwise I am not able to do them as too hard to grip bar long enough

I have toyed with some lifting straps for a while and tried to work on grip naturally but grip strength was holding me back. These are great, they give you a slight bit of help, make lifts (deadlifts) much more comfortable and appear to be robust (should last a long time). Great product.

Absolute game changer for pulling exercises. Seems pretty hardy. Easy fit, might be useful for grip to be longer but no experience with others to say whether this is the case. Grip fatigue has almost entirely been eliminated…where I want it to be.

Love these grips, they have made a huge difference to my gym sessions. I no longer have to compromise on weight due to my weaker grip, these are brilliant. Used them for every session over the last 8 months and they’re still in great condition.

Bought these to assist with my pull sessions. They’re a must have. Super helpful and comfortable. Definitely assisted in helping me to lift heavier weights! just as good as versa grips I’d say!

I kept buying different gloves that either didn’t fit, were way too padded or cut into the skin on my fingers. I have an underdeveloped back so it was important for me to sort this issue out. After watching a whole Austin Keil video dedicated to this kind of straps I finally made up my mind I bought this pair. LIFE CHANGER! It drastically improved my style and the way I execute back exercises by helping me eliminate the forearms, most of bis and tris from the equation and facilitating shifting focus on the back instead. Absolutely worth the price.

Was a bit disappointed when I’d lost my other Pink RDX, lifting strap, as for smaller wrist they were the only one really you could get. But I was quite surprised by the tight fit of the bear grips one.
They are adjustable, but if your are a woman, smaller hands, they are spot on. Got a number of bear grip products and they are always very good.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ll be honest I went for a cheap set of standard straps at first but after chatting to a guy in the gym decided to give these a go.. best decision I’ve made. They are a little bit more money but I can honestly see them lasting and they are so much easier to use. Plus they other straps tended to put pressure on my wrists but these are padded and just fit so well and work. I can not recommend them enough. Great product and if in 20 years time ( which is honestly how long I think they will last ) I wear through them I’ll definitely buy another pair. Wish I’d done it sooner. Deadlifts, pulldowns, bent over rows it’s helped focus on the specific muscle more than my grip strength.. keep up the good work

Great support for anyone with grip or issues with pain from lifting. Absolute game changer allowing me to lift more. More control and less pain and fatigue on my wrists and elbow

I’ve been using these grips for around 2 months now. They’re very sturdy, comfortable and easy to use.

I’ve noticed that the grip is particularly strong and have been able to PR on deadlifts and improved strength in all of my pull excercises!

As a bodybuilder these have been really used and put under some tension. Holding up great. Very sturdy and strong probably the sturdiest I’ve ever used. Not the most comfortable but I’d pick how strong and reliable they are over that any day. I find fits better than most too with it being able to adjust to plenty of different sizes. Whether me 1 week from a bodybuilding comp or mid off season at 260lbs

As someone who struggles with carpal tunnel in both hands, my back and shoulder workout days have historically been a bit of a nightmare because my grip has given out long before my lats or traps ever do. Despite some mixed reviews I bought these in the hopes that they’d help, and my God have they… Because I now only need to use minimal grip to hold plates for shrugs, or do heavy seated lat pulls, my numbers have gone through the roof. My lat pull is up by a good 20kg and I no longer have issues with my grip giving up before I get a good burn in my traps when shrugging. These have been a complete game changer for me.

It’s probably worth noting that when you first use these, they might hurt, dig into your wrists or just be generally uncomfortable until you’re used to them, but don’t let that ruin your gains.

Helps when deadlifting or doing lat pull downs especially during the last few reps when grip would be affected with this I have noticed I can get few more reps in and train muscle to failure before my grip goes

Best gym related item I’ve ever bought. I’ve always struggled with my grip and my PT recommend getting bear grips. Way better than regular straps and can be easily used on various pull machines or even when using dumbells.

I’ve just received the Largest size bear grip straps. They are a little bit small around my wrist. I managed to get them on and they are a firm fit around my wrist, I don’t feel they will come un done. I have attached the handles and use elastic bands to train the rubber to curl towards my hand wrapping around the pull up bar, they feel solid. I’m 19 stone so I thought I would just hang on my pull up bar for as long as I could. So far so good. I’m glad I picked these from the many I looked at on Amazon.

Suffering from tendonitis from heavy pulls, I thought I’d get some straps to help recovery (they really helped). The standard cloth wraparound ones are a huge faff, and the solid hook ones are just for deadlifts. But these are quick and easy, protect the palm, and can be used for all exercises. They’re particularly good for pull-ups.
Quality is top-notch – I’ve used mine heavily for several months and there is no sign of wear.
Problem is, they’re so comfortable and easy they become addictive and you can end up using them too much, which probably isn’t best for grip strength.

I’ve got very small hands (I buy S, but could fit to XS gym gloves if needed to), so anything involving grip has been a hassle. Read the raving reviews and decided to order these (have not used wraps before). I have to say I found them pretty difficult to use/wrap initially and even considered sending them back, however some of the reviews did say that they need some ‘breaking in’ so I persevered and I’m glad I did. They do make a difference, and are pretty easy to use once you get a hang of it and the leather ‘loosens’ a bit. However, the downside which I didn’t really see mentioned is that you do need the bar to be stable and hovering on something if you want to comfortably wrap both hands. So e.g. lateral pulls which I can barely reach anyway, I can only wrap one. If I want to do any kind of RDL, I need to use the squat rack safety bars as if the bar was on the ground I can’t really get the wraps around one-handed etc. Could maybe benefit from some sort of a magnet feature or something? But they’re reasonably priced and do help with a variety of exercises regardless, so I would still recommend if you’re in the market for wraps.

Had the best back workout with these grips. I’ve never used gloves or straps and been training for 39 years (52 years old) but now my grip starts to give before my back muscles do. So I invested in these grips (more convenient than straps). At first feels a bit strange and because the leather is new, feels a bit stiff. After a few sets you get used to using them. The grips will get better and easier to use with age. Much easier/quick to setup with one hand for dropsets (so better than straps) The first workout with these grips managed to do extra reps and felt confident to lift heavier. Dumbbell shrugs at end of back workout was easy because I didn’t have to worry about my grip giving out. Much cheaper than the Versa grips, does the same job. If you have small hands you may find this a bit awkward. My training partner needed someone to push the leather grip bit down as he couldn’t reach them with his small fingers. Lol

They are expensive for what they are, but easy to use. I added on the first use two reps to the maximum weight I was able to do without them, plus set a new personal record of one rep, deadlift. Prior to having them I got frustrated once because my hands were sweaty, slippery with gloves (the gloves were sliding on the inside) and my hands were just too weak.
I went for a size down from what the manufacturer recommends and they fit me better. I gave the medium size to a friend.
I tried simple straps and the ones with hooks and these are the best. Easy to let go when finished and easy to grab the bar and to make small lenght adjustments when holding the bar with these straps.
I took it relatively easy the first time. I believe there is a risk of injury if the hands are not very firm and tensed, also in case the strap around the wrist does not uniformly distributes the weight and minor adjustments are needed. Twice I felt something was not right and a sort of a pain to my non-dominant hand/wrist, but I tensed my hand more, slightly changed the grip and all was good, nothing hurt after.
    I recommend them.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve been using these for a few months now so I can’t speak to how durable they are long-term, but I’ve used them on 150kg+ deadlifts and so far no signs of wear. There’s quite a strong rubbery smell that will linger on your hands the first couple of times you use them, but washing them dealt with it pretty easily so that’s not really an issue in the long run.
    Pros:
-These are very simple to use and quicker and more convenient when you have to do multiple sets back-to-back; your hand goes one side of the bar, the rubber pad goes the other and under your fingers, grip tightly, then lift.
-These are also useful for hanging exercises, I’ve occasionally used them for dead-hangs and they allow me to hang past when my grip strength would fail. A little tricky to get right but much easier than trying to wrap a strap.
    Cons:
-Not as comfortable as traditional straps. The rubber pad overlaps the strap and digs in to my wrists slightly; not enough to put me off using them but annoying nonetheless. The strap is also not the softest and digs in more than my other straps.
-Difficult to use your hands while wearing. Not a huge issue if you’re just sat resting between sets, but using your phone or water bottle is a lot more fiddly with the rubber pad in the way.

Overall, worth having if you’re carrying other lifting aids (wraps, straps, chalk, etc.) into the gym with you. I use them for when I need to do consecutive heavy sets as it saves time and effort or where wraps are impractical. For a single set though, such as a new PB attempt, where I can spend a little more time setting up and I want the best experience, I still use a pair of traditional straps.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersEDIT 4 month update – I’ve been using these for about four months now and at first I didn’t use them much and I couldn’t say they were having a big impact on my workouts until I used them with pull downs and split squats. The difference these grips make is literally an extra 3-4 reps, once you don’t have to think about holding onto the weight it really opens up the mind muscle connection and you can focus on making your muscles work.
I’ve seen some other reviews talking about poor quality and sizing/strap too short, the pair I’ve received aren’t the leather ones and they’ve held up perfectly. If your finding the strap too short chances are you’re using them wrong. The strap doesn’t need to fold all the way round the bar and it doesn’t even need to be tight. I think the way they work is imagine an alternative grip you (shouldn’t) use for a dead lift, one hand stops the bar from rotating forward one hand stops it from rotating back, I believe the grips achieve this affect but in one hand.

The reason I bought these is because I’d seen Dr Mike Israetel recommend Versagrips. They cost about 70 in the UK… Bear Grips do not.

The point of this accessory is to stop grip being a limiting factor in exercise where you’re pulling or holding a decent amount of weight.

If you think “ha just train your grip strength!”
Well is your grip ever going to be stronger than your lats or entire back? Or your hamstrings and glutes?
No it’s not. And you will likely find that your grip fatigues before your primary moving muscles do. So why lose potential gains because your grip has fatigued.

I’ve used them for a few exercises so far. Hanging leg raises, pull ups and stiff leg deadlifts. I don’t use them all the time only when my grip does become the limiting factor. I’ll start with chalk then move to the Bear Grips of I need to.
It’s very surprising how once you don’t have to worry about your grip you can really focus on the primary moving muscles and focus on that mind muscle connection. I especially found this doing back exercises.
The grips are fairly comfortable but I’m sure as they’re broken in they’ll become more comfortable.
The fastenings feel very secure and they’re much easier than traditional wraps to apply to a barbell.

The only situation I wouldn’t use these is if you deadlift and your goal is to get stronger and stronger. That’s a situation where you need to have a raw grip. Use chalk and use a hook grip. No ones impressed by a 500lb deadlift with grips or wraps and it doesn’t count…
But if you’re goal is purely hypertrophy then use the grips but you probably shouldn’t be conventional deadlifting in the 1st place.

Altogether very pleased with the Bear Grips and I’m sure they’ll be part of my array of gym accessories for a while to come.
