About Brookite

Brookite have been manufacturing kites and outdoor toys for over 100 years. In that time the design and materials have changed enormously and over the last decade power and sport kiting has emerged alongside the pure pleasure kite fliers, taking its place in the surfing and skate boarding cultures and opening new and exciting markets for Brookite.

The company are constantly updating and adding to the ranges but still have the basic kite shapes that were the original mainstay of Brookite in 1907 when the company was founded by the Brooke Brothers.

With this heritage, the very reason for the company’s longevity has been the ability to adapt to changing trends and to be constantly innovative with new designs, shapes, materials and the more challenging flying techniques that are demanded by current kite flyers and adrenalin junkies!

After buying a kite that was bigger than my granddaughter I decided that I needed something smaller and this kite is small!
However, it flew wonderfully and attracted a lot of attention on Weymouth beach. Great fun.

Absolutely beautiful to watch dancing in the air! The children loved and so did we! We had a nice strong spring wind and the kite took off and did a few spins and swirls. Looking forward to flying it again tomorrow

Absolutely thrilled with this. Bought for my daughter and was exactly as described and pictured. Flew beautifully straight out of the packet in a very stiff wind. Easy to assemble and stash away again. Perfect for children aged 4/5 to fly and lovely for younger ones to watch as so pretty.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWhat a fabulous little kite this is. I bought three for my playgroup and the children absolutely loved them. There wasn’t an awful lot of wind on the day we used them but what there was enabled the children to fly their kites by running with the kite. Perfect size for preschoolers who found no problem at all in using them with very little adult help. Love, love, love and highly recommend.

What a wonderful mini kite..All my friends are jealous of this mini beauty which flies like a dream…I purchased the mini kite as I was going on holiday abroad and wanted to introduce my friends to kite flying on the beach. I ordered late (as usual) and retained the order even when I found that delivery was not due until 1st to 5th October. I was disappointed but resigned as I was due to leave early morning on 1st October. I ordered another pocket kite not a butterfly which was due for delivery 29th September. Both kites arrived on the 29th September…well done Brookite…Your butterfly kite will be left in Cyprus as my friends demand so…I’ll have to buy another when I get home.

Lovely little kite but quite small and flimsy. You get what you pay for at the end of the day. My niece loved it as lovely long trails that float in the wind. However, not sure it will last too long

Bought as a prize for my project but looking good, and such a lovely idea. If it looks like it does on the picture I and whoever
wins it will be very pleased.

    Small is beautiful!

Bought this for my daughter and she loves it. It took to the air within seconds of being attached to the string. flies well and brought other kids running over to see if they could have a go (I told them to get lost!). good value and pack up small.

My daughter has breast cancer and the McMillan nurse gave her a book to read to her young children aged 4 and 3. In the story the children have a butterfly kite and my grandchildren wanted one too. This was ideal especially for the 3 year old who spends a lot of time running up and down the garden with the kite which is just the right size for her and rises up even with a short string.

This kite is great value for money. We flew it on the beach and the kids (5 and 3) loved it and were able to fly it themselves. It flew very well and is so light it can even be launched single-handedly. Flying in strong gusts was challenging but many kites would struggle under these conditions. Overall a pretty little flier and I would recommend it.

Bought this for my 4 year old daughter’s first kite. She loves it. Only small so easy to handle for younger children. We had a great time in the park with it.

The kite is small but just right for little hands. My 2 year old daughter loves it and she can fly it on her own. It flies very well and looks very beautiful. We have great fun flying it as a family and I have already recommend it to friends with little ones.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI took this kite out today (3rd July 11) with just a slight breeze and sometimes no wind. I had to wait for the wind, and then ran along the line which I’d laid out on the grass, and up it went, all the way to the end of the line, what a nice sight!

It has a gentle way of flying and stays high up when the breeze picks up. Due to lack of wind, it lost height and then hovered at about 6-10′ and I found that if I kept tension on the line, I could pull it towards me and catch it with my hands so that it would land without crashing into the ground. the tail helps a lot to keep it at the right angle to catch the wind. Small children might need help organizing the tail prior to launching. There are two simple fibreglass rods which form an x to support the wings, and they slot into pockets. It doesn’t take strength to fix them into place, but don’t bend too hard, obviously. Once fixed into place, it’s easy to carry the kite around.

It’s better to leave the line lying on the ground, don’t try to reel it in by gathering it up in your hands like I did or you’ll get the most awful tangle, which takes ages to sort out. Also buy a spare line or two so that mom or dad can sit and sort out the knots while the youngsters run around with the kite.
