Once hydrated it is fine. I found it difficult to find something big enough hydrate it in. It would be better if it was in 2 or 4 portions. I did try to saw it in half but just made a mess

Simply the best I have ever used. It’s compost, but very good quality. Plants are thriving in it and you get ALOT for your money.
Just a precaution though that this is 1 solid block so you need a large container to use it.
Just add water and it swells up very quickly.
I got the smaller blocks now for top ups.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe last time I bought compressed coconut coir, it came in the same size bag with 6 separate bricks in it which was perfect for my use – ie use one at a time as needed.
This is one great big brick. The only receptacle I had big enough to reconstitute it was a wheelbarrow, so it wasn’t very effective (a deep barrel would have worked better), and then I had to find somewhere to store it until I can use it all (a couple of old compost bags has done the trick, but the space-saving bricks are much more suited to my modest requirements).
However, my chillies do wonderfully in a mix of this and normal compost, so it’s absolutely worth it!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersSome people have found it hard to break up the block – a simple way around this is to dip the end of the block in warm water and you can then easily break off how much you need in just a minute or so!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery very happy with this product. I ordered the large block and had absolutely no problems with it. Used a LG container, hot water and it started breaking up within ten minutes. Three hrs later, everything is planted. Very keen to see the results.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI use coco coir simply because I’m disabled and it is easier for me to carry than ‘normal compost’. My only reason for dropping a star is the packaging which is cardboard only so not suitable for storing in the garden.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDoes what it says. Creates very good compost just by adding water. Such a clever idea. No more needing to lug heavy compost bags around and no more transporting unnecessary water.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersit’s only been a week but this soil produces some incredible results. it’s rich and moist and already i am seeing little shoots from the tomato plants coming up. brilliant soil to get your plants started.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is much more convenient than the heavy plastic bags of potting compost sold at most garden centres. Comes as a dry “brick” to which you add water, then mix in your own container (I use an 80 litre Wilko Black Dustbin with Lid. This keeps it safe and ready to use when required). I’ve used this compost for potting plants or planting them in the ground.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFor some the big ready made bags are too heavy and can’t be stored so this is perfect. Storage for me was an issue and this is brilliant. I take chunks off that I need for potting. I do think it’s very expensive as the ready made of less than half the price. But as one off purchases for potting it’s not too bad.
