I tried it with my lawn, and it seems to work alright. You need to push a little harder though for it to go a little deep. If you water your lawn beforehand, it will help. Overall, I am happy with the tool.

Read a lot of negative reviews about other tools in the same price range. Went for this one and no complaints. Used it, so has my neighbour and it’s solid made and works a treat. A tip is to give the lawn a good watering to help the spikes go in.

I think they have listened to previous complaints and apart from the handle comes fully assembled.. Used on a fairly large front and back garden.. Did the job of creating holes once scarified .. Helped with over seeding

The roller is good but it’s hard work, let me tell you, it could do with more weight added to push it down further into the soil, the spikes are a bit too short, longer spikes would make deeper holes thus getting the water closer to the roots.

Golden Review Award: 44 From Our UsersI almost didn’t buy one of these because of the reviews. However, due to a lack of cheap alternatives I did. Basically this is great for regular light aeration but rubbish for deep renovation aeration. For deep aeration you’ll need a hollow tine or just a garden fork and a lot of effort. This is useful for quickly aerating to ensure more moisture and air get a little deeper into the root system.
I managed to do a 100m2 lawn in ten minutes (took me two hours with a hollow tine) so you are not going to get the same quality as two hours work but for ten minutes it’s well worth it. To improve penetration into the soil I slid a load of bar bell weights onto the shaft near the base and pushed it around my lawn. It still required a little downward force from me but it was effective.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPurchased this product to aerate a lawn before feed was put on.

Arrived promptly as expected and in good packaging.

The product itself is of good/average quality.

Assembly is relatively easy but you do need a pair of pliers or a spanner to tighten bolts.

My only issue is the flimsy handle/pole which is already bending and I imagine will probably break or bend a lot more in a few more uses.

I also recommending using on a slightly wet / moist lawn to make it easier for you and is generally more beneficial for the lawn.

Aerating a lawn does take quite a lot of elbow grease
