We had some recent bathroom renovation work done. This was ideal for covering carpet on upstairs level and stair case. Easy to apply and remove.

Great for saving the hassle of removing carpets.
Easy to apply once you’ve got into a good practice / technique – doesn’t take long.
Plan your roll out, maybe do the outside first and the cover the middle (you can overlap then rather than cut).
Protects well, paint drops can be wiped off.
A bit of practice to do stairs, but I felt better working on them than with loose sheets.
    Easy to remove and bin.

The only protection I use, the best on the market, you won’t buy it cheaper.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is great stuff. Being yellow it is easy to see where to walk for contractors and what isn’t protected. It is tacky enough to hold down on carpet but that means it can be easily removed but also care is needed to put it down in the first place. The best way is for two people to do it: one to hold the roll the other to hold both sides of the free end and press it down to the carpet. This is especially helpful on stairs. We have a staircase with a half landing which we successfully covered using this technique. A couple of points worth noting: it works better if you overlap a good way when putting a new bit down as it sticks to itself well and you need something appropriate to cut it. (we used a Stanley knife on the film held up under tension). It is a bad idea to let it hang freely as, like any cling film type it will tend to tangle up and stick to itself.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDon’t understand the negative reviews.. I got this to protect my freshly laid carpet on stairs and landing while moving in and builders still fixing few things. I must admit uts not easy to install as its quite hard to unroll the wrap while laying on the carpet but I managed to do it on my own. Would suggest two people for easy installation. Also, if you are a woman please tie your hair as I lost some of mine stuck in the roll while putting this on. Lovely roll and when I took it off carpet was all ok.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it’s supposed to do.

‘Very sticky’ and a little difficult to unroll, so sticky it tore in places as I tried to roll a length. However, it did ‘stick’ and stay in place to my carpets which are 80/20 (wool – nylon). No suitable for pure wool carpets. Painted my skirting boards with no seepage to the carpet. Removing the product was easy and left no sticky residue on the carpets; I’ll be using this every time I decorate. Do not leave down on your carpet for more than a month as it might leave sticky film.

Good quality product and sticks almost too well. Kept the carpet clean and dry. Saved a brand new almost white carpet from black water out of a leaking radiator. We’ll worth the money this stuff!

Really good, we decorated a relatively big room without using the whole roll. Very sticky and we didn’t hoover / vacuum the room prior. No paint got on the carpet which is a win for us 🙂

Used this product to protect a very high end premium carpet for a teen party 100 people +. Lifted it up at the end of the night and carpet was spotless. Was also able to collect all the rubbish easily as I lifted up the product. Not cheap but absolutely worth i

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this to protect my stairs and landing carpet for a bathroom refit in October weather. It’s been brilliant, well worth the money. I left it down for 2 weeks and 2 days (over the recommended time of 2 weeks) and it came up fine. For laying on stairs I recommend making sure it is well tucked into the back of each step, I didn’t do this and found mine lifted out a bit. It would be best to do this by using something like a rolling pin to push it back. Laying it was a bit tricky as like cling film it sticks together but I soon got the hand of it. At the edges of the rooms it also had a tendency to lift slightly. For hoovering it I found it best to use a soft brush attachment. Wish I had laid some in my living room too as there is mud on my carpet there!

I use this to line the car boot to protect from dog hair. Almost zero adhesion to car carpet (synthetic) but if it touches itself – peel it off and do it again. It never lets go of itself! Grrr.
Not eco friendly. But it does keep the dog fur
Out once paced – and held in position by stuff

We do a lot of work in private homes and premises, so this is absolutely essential for us.

It stick to the carpet well and stay for a long time, although make sure you will not leave for more then is recommended as will struggle to take it off.

Also it’s not suitable for wool carpets or more natural carpets as it sticks really well and it might just damage it while removing it.

Worth to mention that it only work on carpets and definitely not on any type of hard floor such as tiles or wood panels as it will leave mark and it’s really hard to remove afterwards.

Tip: try to retain inner plastic and cover the tool after use, otherwise everything will stick to it and small amount will go to waste next time you plan to use it.

It does take 2 people to put it on the stairs but once it’s down it stays down. Once on the carpet it doesn’t move or wrinkle so it makes decorating so much easier. We placed some in the kitchen on the lino, now it did come off but it has left a sticky residue behind. I 100% recommend buying

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Usersdid it do the job – absolutely! came up easily and the carpets were almost in a better condition than when it went down! so why only 4*’s? well, its a total pest to put down, took a couple of hours (and a LOT of swearing) start to finish to put it down on my hall, stairs and landing (which was being plastered). Kind of became an expert by the end (have a broom handy to ‘sweep it flat’ once its in place – works really well once you’ve got it started!). MANUFACTURER – can I make a suggestion that every roll of this comes with an additional roll thats maybe 10cm wide to do the edges, because to be fair, trying to get a whole line of this tape down along a skirting without leaving a gap is almost impossible and a smaller rolls to do fiddly bits like rounds door jams etc would be a BIG help (in the meantime, get a wide roll of duct tape to do this but beware you don’t want the super-strong sticky type! hope that helps!)

This was recommended to me by a carpenter when he knew we were going to be painting in the near future. I was a little sceptical but it really is a great product. We have even used it to wrap and protect small items of furniture that we needed to store in the garage. The only thing I would say is that it can be fiddly to use and you almost need two people to use it easily. One person to hold the sticky piece out in front and the other to hold and unroll the required amount, otherwise it can twist and stick to itself and your are not gonna unstick it!! You also need to remember to replace the outer protective film when you’ve finished.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersReason purchased: to lay down throughout the house as movers coming in. It had been absolutely pouring and we had just had the carpets cleaned.

The product is a little challenging to apply as it is like sellotape. The sticky side is on the bottom but the roll needs to be held with 2 hands and stuck down at the same time. It is much easier if one person holds the roll whilst another pulls and lays down the tape. Try to hold it straight, as when it sticks to itself if is almost impossible to separate. It should be padded down smooth by the other person as the roll is held taught.
It provides good adhesion and protection. We added a double layer on the very top stair as the movers seen to rip this portion with heavy items.
The stairs are the most challenging place to lay it, defineatley requires 2 people.

When removing hold down the carpet as we found that it momentarily lifted the carpet and pulls it out of the fittings if pulled hard or quickly.

The reason for 4 stars is that the movers bought with them some extra roll of their own from another make Taktape. This was thicker and went on much easier and did not tear as easily.
This saved our carpet not a single stain as the movers stuck to the path. I would buy again. This could also be used if painting a room.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than most tapes take care when removing.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersBought some of this stuff in advance of moving house, not trusting the removers to get it right (which they didn’t!). It’s a bit tricky to get down (it helps to have two people, particularly when cutting and on stairs) but once you get the knack it’s fine. Slowing down, as is often the case, usually results in good results. It stuck down well with no lifting for the week or so it was down. I would use this again without hesitation and indeed I would use it if doing substantial DIY messy work in the house now I think,

I bought some of the corresponding hard floor stuff as well and both products worked well. Really have no complaints, it did what I needed it to do and i didn’t feel the cost was unreasonable.

Paid for with my own money so if useful, take half a second to give me a thumbs up thanks / helpful!!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis has been a godsend as I am having the whole of my ground floor refurbished including all the floors pulled up, whilst still living in the house (upstairs only). I have just taken this back off the carpets on my stairs and first floor landing, where it has been down for about 10 weeks. I’m glad I put it down because some of the dirt that was generated was really black and the animals had the occasional “accident” because they were too scared to go downstairs when the builders were working. I found it a slow job to put on but not difficult but you do have to be careful not to let it stick to itself because you can’t separate it out again. I don’t know if it is due to the length of time it was down or because we had unusually warm weather during that time but it did leave a very slight sticky residue on the carpets when it came up. I had the carpets professionally washed the same day and it came off really easily. I will definitely use this again if I’m having major work done or for when the hallway is next repainted.

    I love it!
I had seen this brand in use when we had workmen dealing with dry rot at work. I knew it was non-slip, long-lasting and came up to leave pristine carpets, even after four or five months.

I have used it at home on the (pale) wool carpet as my daughter has brought home a dog with exceptionally dirt gathering abilities. He’s a slippery dog as well and escapes the kitchen to gallop his muddy paws through the house. There are some holes in the “roll and stroll” where the dog has put his claws through, but the carpet is generally much cleaner than it might be, and I am considerably saner!

I have had the roll and stroll down for nearly 3 months now. When I lift a section to renew it, there is no adhesive left on the carpet.

The other advantage is that it is almost completely non-slip, but, as we tend to be a clumsy family, perpetually falling on the stairs, I have kept the use of roll and stroll to the landings. We don’t need any extra accidents.

Brought for our new house that we were having work done to and wanted to protect the carpets. This survived paint and plastering.

It goes on like a giant roll of cellotape. I noted other reviews suggested two people and going slowly. I didint have the two people but I did go slowly and found this gave a good control and it went down neatly.

This was perfect for my stairs and held for around 6 weeks before we took it up. In that time it had been covered in plaster dust, plaster and paint. It protected the carpet well no mess. It was brushed and damn mopped a couple of times and still held its place.

On the floor, not as good it didn’t hold as well (same carpet) so we ended up using standard sheets and taping them down which worked.

If I ever have to do a project again I would definitely get this for the stairs. You will only need one roll for them and still have some left over. It did start to come away at the edges abit after three weeks or so so a little dust got underneath but nothing major that a hoover afterwards didint fix.

I did not find it slippy either I was worried it might come loose on the stairs and cause a trip hazard fortunately this was not a problem which I feel I would have had if I was just using normal sheets as these moved under foot no matter how much tape we had.

Golden Review Award: 74 From Our UsersOnce it’s down, this product is great protection for your carpet. However … if you are putting it on a staircase I recommend that you get help. I started laying it on my own, but had to rope in my 12 year old to assist by holding the roll as I smoothed it over the carpet from the top down. The task was slow and backbreaking and, as the roll was shorter than the width of the stairs, afterwards we had gaps to fill with small strips cut from the roll. The protector is very sticky and if a piece of it folds in on itself you will only separate it with great difficulty – it’s just like a giant roll of flypaper. With hindsight, I needed a third person to cover the ears of my daughter as I filled the air with expletives whenever a piece stuck to itself or I noticed a giant air bubble that I hadn’t smoothed.

If you have pets, please do ensure that you replace the clear film over the roll when you finish: when your cat or dog cosies up to the roll and realises that it is a very clingy bff, they won’t appreciate the resulting trim.

Despite the trauma of laying the carpet and the scratches from my cat, the payoff is worth it: I’ve given the roll 5 stars as it is far safer than having loose plastic sheeting over the stairs. Plus the yellow and black colouring lends itself to your kids pretending that your room is a crime scene.
