The inbuilt launcher is too restrictive. Customisation such as icon shape are not available. I installed the Nova launcher which helps, but I expected better from Android’s creator. They seem to be trying to imitate Apple by not allowing users to customise their experience. Bad move, people use Android BECAUSE it can and look different user to user

Great Selectio
Must admit this purchase was the result of a broken screen on my Pixel 6a, though I wanted to stick to familiar territory.
Ultimately very happy with my purchase, as expected with the Pixel line you get a device that simply does what you need it to do at a very affordable price. I did notice that cameras have a slight improvement over its predecessor, albeit not an earth shattering change, overall still very happy with the shots I can get from something that fits in my pocket.
The addition of wireless charging which the 6a lacked does open some oppurtunities to clean up my work desk which is a welcome addition. Safe to say I’ll be using this device for quite some time.
Wrong Colour Delivered
I am very happy with the phone itself so far. However am disappointed in that I ordered Charcoal but Snow was delivered. Inconvenient to swap so have to live with what I did not order.
Good phone marred with intrusive ads
Good phone for the price however disappointed in the level of unwanted ads there is a lot more than an alternative manufacturer such as Samsung which is my previous phone. These ads are intrusive and annoying however what do you expect from Google. When this phone becomes end of life I will not be purchasing another Google model. The old phone new phone transfer program was odd as it missed off apps in competition with Google such as GMX which was amusing but easily remedied. On a positive the battery life is excellent, good clear screen and fast response when scrolling through apps. Google lens I find a game changer, I use this on a daily basis, linking the phone to Alexa and other accounts was a breeze.

This is a good phone but takes a little time to get my settings right. My only criticism is that the “Google search bar” cannot be removed or relocated and the app suggestions when you use the “search bar” are very annoying.

love the phone excellent camera and battery life. the under screen fingerprint read is about 30% works unlike the pixel 2 finger print reader on the back, just awkward having to type password when it fails which it does a lot.
Great but battery life not grea
I like the size of the phone. It is compact for pocket and handbag and has all the features and my previous Samsung phone and performs just as well. However it needs an eye kept on battery performance as it drains quite quickly. It ‘died’ on a day out – once I noticed it had only 19 percent remaining I didn’t use it but it completely drained anyway. That’s my only gripe!

Purchased two of these phones that were sold in a bundle complete with chargers. These phones were to replace my wife’s aging Motorola and my broken Oneplus 6. Two phones that were the same, but suffered completely different issues. One was a breeze to set up, the other took two days because I couldn’t turn Google assistant off and it wanted to set it up in ways that I didn’t appreciate and it took a lot of Googling to gain the appropriate solution. The set up with the sim cards was simple on one, but the other took a very frustratingly long time. After the initial set up both phones updated to Android 14 and things proceeded a little better. Both phones worked with Bluetooth pairing, but that, for some reason, affected the volume; a problem that still can’t resolve…the volume, even when turned up full, is still very poor. On our old phones the signal strength was perfect in our living room but in these, only the lowest corner of the triangle at the top of the screen found reception. I have to admit that the cameras are better, I’m able to transfer them onto my server and then show them full size, without any pixelation, on my smart tv. Data transference is simple as you don’t need to delve into developer mode to shift stuff from the hard drive to other gadgets, provided of course, that the appropriate usb 3 data cable is used. All in all we found that the phones were very usable, but are not convinced that they are any better than our old ones.
I ordered this phone to replace an old Motorola. I was specifically looking for something at the mid price range that gives great bang for your buck. Luckily it was on offer too when I ordered. After getting my hands on the phone I must say, it exceeded my expectations in more ways than one. It was also super easy to transfer everything over to the new phone from my old Motorola.

The phone feels very smooth while using it as the operating system is very simplistic. This is backed up as you can also put it on 90hz which makes the experience very nice. Everything about this phone is perfect and i would highly recommend to everyone. Camera is very good. Battery life lasts me a whole day and a half before needing to charge. And thats with a 6hr screen on time.
Good phone, with a bit of a saga.
First order was an empty box, presumably half-inched by some swine in the delivery chain.
Amazon did their thing and sent us another next day (I have to credit them here. Box felt light so we videod opening it. Amazon rep: “No, we don’t need the video, we trust our customers”. Remarkable service all carried out by text during a car journey).
Boy very happy with the phone, great camera etc.
But… The charger died a few months after delivery. Then the cable.
Contacted Amazon expecting to be referred to the manufacturer, but no. Given a 10% credit that covered a new, nicer, charger.
Again… remarkable.
Feels a bit churlish leaving only 4 stars after such great service, but we now suspect Google’s chargers aren’t very good which reduces the point of the ‘Charger included’ deal.
Amazon, however: in this instance – easy five out of five stars.
This is my first pixel phone as usually I bought Sony. I did need to upgrade my phone as the last phone had an old android software and was not as efficient as it used to be.
Very pleased I made the switch to the Google Pixel and a plus for me with this phone was that VPN was included which for me is a vital component with the amount of fraud and scams you read about these days.
I find the phone excellent. It is quick to load and has a smooth operation. There was no problems transferring my data or apps that were on my previous phone that are not Google apps. The screen is clear and bright and has a smooth operation. It took a few days to get used to the ways things are done but Google provide tips and tricks to assist you which I found invaluable.
The battery lasts me a good couple of days so in my view very good and when you need to charge it this is very quick with the right charger attached.
I like the size of the phone as this is not too big or too small and as I often browse the web and news sites the screen resolution is ideal.
I have not used the camera much as I don’t like camera phones being a DSLR user but they come in useful when I don’t have my camera. This said the camera is good with vibrants clear photos. The video function is also good.
Overall extremly pleased with the phone and I can see myself being a long standing pixel user.
…once you update the phone and reboot the fingerprint sensor works perfectly. If you tried to add a fingerprint prior to the update then you just need to remove it and start again.
Now that that is out of the way…
It’s a great phone for the price and I downgraded from a Xiaomi 12! The rear camera quality is good, the front’s OK for what it is. The performance of the phone is amazing, despite benchmarking lower than a SnapDragon 8 Gen 1 but as it’s so very well optimised it just runs fluid. After going through so many different android phones I think I’ll be sticking with Pixel’s from now on! No bloat, fluid performance, NFC reader is fast, battery life is decent.
No regrets downgrading my phone, the Xiaomi 12 is a great flagship phone but it runs hot, the battery sucks, the camera app chokes/stutters during opening/taking a picture/closing. I don’t have any of these issues with the Pixel!
449 for a brand new phone is uncommon in these times. So it’s right to be sceptical.

Overall, the pixel 7A offers a fantastic option for a budget phone with some particular features being the camera, the classic Pixel standout, being a key reason for choice over other phones. Benefit of going Google with your phone choice is the utilisation of the hardware by the software and this is something you don’t have to worry about as it comes with years of future updates & support. A popular Google feature is the Magic Eraser and this comes with the 7A although it’s noted you may have to perform a software update if it does not appear straight away for you.
The battery life is phenomenal, probably helped by the software, and lasted a day of typical use with ease. For lighter use cases, you can definitely see it stretching few days. I recommend choosing the Google Pixel Charger bundle as the charging speeds aren’t fantastic to begin with and would not want to risk going any slower with a 3rd party charging option.
The display is OLED, full HD and offers a great experience for the 6.1″ screen size. The display has refresh options of 60Hz & 90Hz, the latter will reduce your battery life but improve the user experience so really up to your use case. Drawback of the display is the bezels which go around the edges of the screen which for me, age it a little but found I don’t take much notice of it when I’m actively using the phone.
What I’m most let down by is the lack of storage expansion. 128Gb quickly fills up and means you must rely on cloud storage, especially for photos. This will begin as free but might start costing you monthly as time progresses.
In conclusion, this is a great budget phone, with some drawbacks as you expect for the price-point. The display and camera technology is unmatched for the money and benefits of Google software really shows when it comes to the fluidity of the experience.
