Purchased as a replacement CD player for the kitchen and it’s an absolute bargain! It just works – pop in a CD and hey presto great sounding music! That is of course assuming you’ve connected it up to an amplifier and speakers

Product arrived extremely promptly with standard delivery. Product works exactly as described. Be reminded it doesn’t come with an HDMI cable .
My only wish is that this DVD player resumed playing where you left off as my previous Sony did . Hence missing star.

Simple and effective. Easy to just plug in, HDMI lead not included which is ok because they tend to stack up. Bought an identical Majority DVD player previously because of 3 year guarantee. It lasted 3 years and a week. Nuff said- would give 5* otherwise.

Took out of the box, plugged in, pressed the DVD eject button, put in a DVD, pressed the close button and within seconds we were ready to watch. Nothing could be easier.

Just one small niggle – the combined Play/Pause button can occasionally be a bit of a trial. In fact, it would be nice if the whole remote was larger.

I bought this product because it has a usb socket I have 1000s of CDs on a Hard Drive. l thought you may be able to play them using the USB connection but they are not playable.

I am really pleased with this purchase. My only disappointment is that it did not include the 2 AAA batteries that (unless I have misunderstood the word “included”) should have come with the order. I live quite a long way from shops where I could buy batteries and always seek to have them included or to order them from Amazon when I make a purchase. Hence 4 stars instead of 5.

I got this dvd player to play different region dvds which is does perfectly. It is small and compact so easy to move around. My only issue (hence 4/5 stars) is it is VERY loud. I did see another review saying it was loud too but they aren’t exaggerating,it is quite noisy.

I bought this for my Caravan for when I’m pitched on a site with no internet signal to use Netflix and Prime etc. and fancy watching a film. It’s a little gem of a DVD/CD player. Very compact and sturdy and works like a charm with the AV leads connected to my caravan TV. The build quality of both the player and the remote are fantastic for the price, under 30, and it was delivered the next day. I thoroughly recommend this if you need a DVD/CD player.

For those of us with a large collection of (ahem) Jimi Hendrix live performances, plus all the legacy stuff we need a working DVD player. This is cheap, silent and easy to use. Brillia

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIf anyone is looking for a small DVD player this is the one to buy I did consider one other but as usual it was made in China.
This was delivered the next day after ordering so I was eager to try it out, for the price it appears to be well made with easy controls & a handbook, it is also very light in weight but be aware that the remote control requires 2 AAA bateries which are not supplied .
It was so easy to use I just plugged in the HMDI cable ( not supplied ) into the DVD & TV pressed the source button on my tv controller to select the correct HDMI socket and it worked perfectly, it has all the controls you need on the remote control unit.
I purchased this unit so I could easily carry it into my wifes nursing home room where she is suffering with Alzheimers so I could easily play DVD’s through the TV set in her room as we have a number of musical DVD’s which of course is very good for her conditon, the unit fits easily into my laptop bag so is easy to carry.
If anyone is looking for a small straight forward DVD unit I would certainly recommend this one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCheap and cheerful, bought specifically for its multi region capability, which is fine. it’s only 30 hence the low star ratings but 4 star review it’s fine if you must have MR good value

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIt’s a good multi region dvd player and not bad for the price. My only complaint would be that you have to be extremely precise in how you place the disc in the tray because if not then it just won’t play. Also you have to turn the subtitles off on the dvd player menu otherwise you get subtitles on the screen when watching your show even though the subtitles are off on the dvd it’s self. It can be a hassle going back and forth with the subtitles especially when you you multiple DVDs that are in English and Japanese so you have to constantly change it. All in this dvd player is okay at the end of the day

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery easy to set up and inserted a NTSC DVD and it played fine. Not sure all the buttons work as I haven’t tried them all. A good piece of kit for the money.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis is a great little DVD player that really is multi-region and works well. It’s compact, quiet in operation and brilliant value for money.

It is however let down by a dreadful remote control. Loads of buttons that don’t actually do anything (volume controls, angle, mute to name a couple). The remote is also pretty limited in terms of functionality. For example the “play/pause” button is awkwardly placed near the bottom left (and tiny), but pressing the big “enter” button doesn’t resume playback. It’s also slow to respond, with lag and you’ll find yourself pressing buttons a lot to try and get it to do something.

It’s a shame as the DVD player itself really is surprisingly good (even just little things like the speed it loads discs and how quickly it ejects them). If you are looking for a great multi-region player and don’t mind the sucky remote then you have found it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersVery good value for money with a two year warranty and easy to set up.

It doesn’t play “mp4” files, which my other (more expensive) DVD player does, but that’s a minor criticism. I found I have to be careful when loading a disc because it’s easy to place the disc incorrectly on the disc tray so that when the tray closes, the disc could get trapped in the loading slot, thus damaging the disc.

Some reviewers found the mechanism noisy. Mine isn’t, except when the disc is first loaded, but that’s only when it’s initialising the disc, not when it’s reading a programme file.

The sound from my TV set is played through a hi-fi system and I am using the AV cable supplied with the CD player. The picture and sound quality is good and better than expected at this price.

I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap DVD player.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAs we’ve recently moved house and got our 4 year old settled in his new bedroom with his own simple TV set-up, we wanted a cost-effective and easy to use DVD player so that he’s able to view his favourite discs. Having set myself a low budget I was surprised to see how many players there were on the market and, having recently purchased a Bluetooth CD Player from Majority which I’ve been very impressed with, I opted to stick with the brand. It’s worth noting also that a family member had recently been raving about a Majority DAB radio they had recently acquired for their kitchen, so I was confident in buying another product from the brand.

The Majority Scholars DVD Player really is a no-frills, straight out of the box, plug and play, simple to use player. A simple HDMI connection is provided meaning that it was connected to the TV and working within minutes. My son was sat happy watching his favourite Tractor Ted DVD in no time at all. I think we’ll also find it useful as he has a number of audiobooks and music CDs that he’ll also be able to listen to in his own room, so as not to disturb us adults downstairs!

Picture quality as you’d expect is great, even with older DVDs the player seems to upscale them reasonably well so that they still look sharp and crisp on a modern TV. I popped a handful of my son’s photos he’d taken onto a USB stick (which is really simple to access from the on-screen menu). He was so pleased to see them come to life on his own TV and he was even able to scroll through the images with ease using the remote control. He’ll love this feature going forward, especially as he can access the USB port himself as it’s on the front of the unit.

We only have DVDs from Region 2 (UK) however I note that the player will read and play discs from multiple regions, which will no doubt be useful to many. RCA connections provide an extra level of connectivity which again will be useful if required and they even include the cables for this.

The player itself is very small, probably around the width of 2 DVD boxes – perfect for areas with limited space and easy to move to another room if required – it’s really light and compact.

A couple of minor niggles; the first being that no batteries were provided for the remote control, but these were soon located in one of our many as yet unpacked boxes. I also feel that the remote control is quite generic, similar to ones I’ve had before with other lower-priced audio equipment – and I’m still confused as to why the most-used buttons on these controllers also tend to be the smallest?!! The Play/Pause and Stop buttons are really small, so it took a while for my son to find them, but again it’s really only a minor point as the remote itself works fine. I also like having an Eject button on the remote control which some players I’ve had in the past didn’t have.

A 3 year warranty is included once registered with Majority which is amazing for a product selling at this price point! Overall I’m really happy and I’m sure it will have many years of use from all the family – and it’s a great and cheap way to keep those cherished DVDs for just a few years longer!
