Hibiscrub antimicrobial skin cleanser

Hibiscrub antimicrobial skin cleanser has been used for more than 45 years in hospitals around the world to help manage infection. It is used for pre-operative surgical hand disinfection, antiseptic hand washing on the ward, and pre- and post-operative skin antisepsis for patients undergoing elective surgery.

Containing 4% w/v chlorhexidine gluconate, Hibiscrub is effective against a wide range of microbes, including several strains of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast, fungi and viruses, and reduces bacterial load more efficiently . Hibiscrub has also been shown to significantly decrease the risk of hospital-associated S aureus infections by up to 60% when used in combination with a nasal antibiotic.

Hibiscrub is not absorbed into the skin, but binds to it to form a protective layer that kills bacteria within one minute, and continues to do so for up to six hours after application . Hibiscrub is not inactivated by bodily fluids .

Hibiscrub isto be gentle on the skin, even with frequent use. This is significant because repeated application of Hibiscrub has been shown to increase its antimicrobial efficacy .

  • Wide range of applications across infection control protocols
  • Fast acting with a long-lasting effect of up to six hours
  • Tough against microbes – gentle to the skin

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have used this amongst other things recently to clean my dog’s spay wound (on the advice of my vet). I have also used it as a flea treatment (mixed with shampoo) on my other dog. This has so many uses that I probably use it every day.

I’ve been using this for a few years but struggled to source it anywhere for some months. Where it was available the prices were extortionate. This was a reasonable price and a little goes a long way so will last for ages!

    Arrived really quickly too.

Used for antibacterial washing – humans & dogs. My husband uses this daily to wash his feet, keeps free from athlete’s foot. Also we use this on any cuts or wounds, dilute in water and wipe over the area with cotton wool. Great for dogs wounds too. Do not use in ears or use orally. Keeps area free from infection.

I use it in the hospital to scrub, and I bought it for proper cleaning at home.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAlways keep this in my dogs first aid kit. An excellent antiseptic for cuts and wounds and hot spots. It must be diluted and is safe to use on animals. I can be used anywhere other than in the ears or eyes. It is good to leave it on for a few mins and then rinse off to avoid it drying out the skin too much.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis thing does not create a lot of suds. What it does do is clean the skin THOROUGHLY! A little goes a very long way, so don’t use too much. I noticed after my first use that body lotions, butters etc did a much, much better job. I suppose that it was because the skin was so clean. Excellent!

I would not use it every day. I suggest once a week for a thorough clean, then go to your normal hygiene routine the rest of the week.

Read the label properly, before use.

Bought this product as my friend recommended it. Used it as a wash twice a day every day. It worked! You only use a small amount in water, therefore it was value for money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDid wonders for my cats head wound which wouldn’t heal with other treatments including some from the vet!
Also healed an infected piercing within a couple of days. Now I use it as a handwash after every client (I’m a massage therapist) so I have scrupulously clean hands at all times. Expensive but worth i

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy cat had reacted to a spot on flea/worm treatment from vets, her fur fell out and she’d created a sore bleeding wound from scratching it. I was recommended by a friend who said you can use this diluted on dogs cats. I’d been putting Aniwell manuka honey on it which helped but this just speeded up the healing process and her fur is growing back all within several days. I diluted it One teaspoon to ten teaspoons of water and gently bathed area. I would highly recommend this for yourself and your pets (apparently vets use it too I was told)

I tried using this on my boy for his itchy skin, I wish I could say it worked. But it had very little effect on him personally as his problems where mostly allergy based (hayfever) but definitely worth a try.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI like it when this is in stock, but it used to be more readily available and cheaper to purchase. It’s a lifesaver for anyone with severe skin problems to be able to buy this when you can’t get a GP appointment or your prescription hasn’t arrived on time and you have a skin flare-up that you have to manage yourself at home.

I use this for so many things. It ensures equipment like my poultry incubators and chick rearing stuff is clean, it’s great for cleaning cuts, grazes, both mine, my dogs and livestock and for making sure food bowls are really safe.
I’ve got it on subscription as its hard to come get locally and a lot more expensive when you can get it.
Easy to use, just add to cooled boiled water in a bowl and soak the limb, (usually mine) or to hot water to soak or spray bowls etc.
I’m up to date on the tetanus shots so it’s saved me lengthy trips to bother the NHS when I’ve trodden on nails or dropped the bowser on my foot etc. So useful lol.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was about to loose hope that anything would start to make my son’s molluscum contagiosum better. It was starting to spread like wild fire. Anything I tried to do was making things worse. After reading that this horrible virus could last for years I was in dispear. Constantly reading forums to see if I could fine anything that would help him. I came across iodine as a potential option and this was my last hope. I read the lastest review of someone with the same condition using it and it had helped them.

So I combined it with iodine spray also on Amazon. My theory was that if the virus is not too hard to kill on your hand to spot the spread, then if I could kill it on the body hopefully to stop anymore spots appearing. I have been using both these products for 5 days and the difference in his skin is amazing. It hasn’t gone completely, but the little red spots that looked like they could have progressed into the bigger spots have gone. All I’m waiting for is the bigger spots to pop now so they can heal over. I will up date this review in a month to see the difference.

I don’t know whether it is just this, or the iodine spray, or a combination of both that’s making the difference. But I don’t care as long as they are doing something.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ll go straight ahead with an over share, but it’s relevant for context. I have suffered with occasional fungal infections due to having to take a lot of antibiotics, and quite often found the stuff prescribed from the doctors would work but wouldn’t quite clear things up, but Hibiscrub certainly does.
I shower with this stuff twice a week and never suffer with any bad odours, I’ve stopped using antiperspirant and switched to a natural deodorant. It can be a little harsh on your skin but I’ve had no repeat infections and it has also helped with my acne, and made it pretty much disappear.
In addition my cat was suffering with allergies, a diluted bath in this stuff and he’s sweet as a nut
Make sure you use with caution however, read up about the active ingredients, it needs to be diluted and you don’t want to use it very often for prolonged periods of time.
Read the reports online about this stuff, it’s considered a bit rubbish as an antiseptic but highly regarded for its fungal killing properties. I guess the health service would rather pump us full of pharmaceutical pills instead of providing this stuffs!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersDon’t take medical advice from Amazon reviews, but this has worked great for me.

I suffer(ed) from folliculitis on the thighs and, embarrassingly, lower back and buttocks. Tried many things without results. Recently I got tired of being embarrassed and decided that I was going to napalm the area and hope for the best, so I figured this would do.

It sure did. I apply it every second day in the shower. The consistency is a runny liquid but with some massaging into the skin, it forms a thin lather. I cut the shower off and rub it all over the problem area. I leave it to soak in for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly and patting the skin dry with a clean towel.

After a month of this I have had NO new spots. My skin feels softer overall. I recently rubbed hibiscrub onto my(now healed) skin with a gentle exfoliating glove to help free any remaining ingrown hairs and my skin is finally looking and feeling great.

The only downside is the bottle itself, though large it doesn’t have a nozzle or applicator so you have to carefully pour it into your hands or find a clean bottle to transfer it into. Since the solution is a thin liquid, spillage and wastage is easily done but whatever, there’s plenty of it and it’s worth the money to buy more.

10/10 would recommend but I’m not your doctor always consult an expe

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis product has a medical smell to it (not an unpleasant one). I had been given this by my Vet in the past to help heal wounds on my dog’s paws, and it always worked (we won’t talk about the amount they charged for it).

I unfortunately I had a huge flare-up with cysts in glands under both of my arms.
I bought this, after reading a lot of reviews on it… I can confirm that all cysts have basically gone back to normal! (They were so bad that I was given a Hospital appointment for a breast scan to check for cancer within a week of Presenting myself to my G.P.)
No cancer & pits are back to normal with Mr only using half the bottle.
    HAPPY DAYS!

I really love this product, I’m perplexed at why my G.P. found it so weird for me to start using this, especially when it worked so well and quickly?
I’ve seen Specialist’s due to the Cancer scare and no one queried my choice to use this to wash with medically, but they also did not care to hear of my positive reaction to it either? Or what injection was taken by my ‘friend’ weeks before I saw him – then 2 days after spending time him, I could not close my arms due to cysts? Not a care in the world was shown, no conversation or recognition at all. Very weird.

I will continue to use this, I’ve recommended it and will also feed it to Corona, should she want to visit! Lol

I use it on my body, face (careful: don’t get in eyes!), hair and swapped out my hand wash for it, I’ve also bathed with it in the water (hence used 1 bottle in a month), I use for cleansing skin after facial, all areas after sugaring, 100% ratio on a spot that just would not go away! and so on.

I dance about in the bathroom as Sandy, I sing: “Gimme more, gimme more! Get Corona out my face! Shoop-bah-bah, shoop bah-bah-yeah!” then “Brush’em, brush’em, brush’em – it’s healthy for your teeth!”

Golden Review Award: 48 From Our UsersI’ve had a rescue pug for a while now and he’s never had any problems with his skin ever – however in 2017 he had really flaky skin and was constantly shaking and scratching at his ears and face until they bled, we feared one day he would catch his eyes and end up with long term damage to them, sadly he did end up catching his eye slightly but they are fine! We ended up having to purchase a cone of shame to stop him from getting at his face.

Main symptoms included, flaky skin, discolouring of his armpits (they went red with patches of black, his flaps around his face were very dirty constantly even after wiping his face daily – basically he had the worst skin irritation going and we didn’t know what to do about it!

We SPENT FARRRRR too much at the vets we were there best customers by far and it was beyond a joke, at first I thought they were genuinely helping by suggesting buying some shampoos to help sensitive skin etc (do not buy the crap they try selling to you) one occasion I went in because my pug literally was covered in blood from scratching his face to bits one night, I was so upset I literally cried and cried most nights because he was in so much pain. Vets bills were totalling up and no lie we were in there every other day and still got no further. It got to the 15th or so visit and the vets said ‘we will need to put him under to investigate further – get a skin graft from him’ I cried Infront of them and begged them and pled was there no other way.

After that visit I was up till late looking for ANYTHING to help my little pug, this had been going on for a year (he had a cone on at night for almost a year!!!! And the vets did NOTHING) I came across Hibiscrub and the reviews were so honest – like anyone I was so reluctant to buy at first but I did because I wanted him back to normal.

After the first time using this my little pug was back to normal, the black and red patches under his arms disappeared (not straight after first use) and his fur was so fluffy like normal and the flaking had stopped! He was bouncing around everywhere and was so happy!!!

Will never get anything the vets suggest again! Amazing product thank you !
