This is a high quality product for the same price as inferior hoses from discount supermarkets

As long as you know how to actually use a hose (Many reviewers clearly don’t!), this “starter” hose is all you need! Just keep it completely unrolled and straight or curved and you’ll have no kinking problems!

It seems robust and does what it is supposed to do. It also seems heavier than some other hosepipes I have used that begin to kink after a few years. Ask me again in 10 years …

Very frustrating buying this as it did not come with a reel holder. The hose was easily tangled up but once in the hose reel, it’s been great and no further issues. Always wind back up whilst hose full
    Of water !

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis hose is very sturdy. I bought it because the crinkly contracting ones seem to snag and break easily. However this one does kink if you let the coils get too small. It needs a reel of some sort to avoid this. Also the fitment at the tap does leak a bit. It’s th e correct size but I couldn’t stop it leaking.

It was a perfect replacement for the old hose I had.

Arrived on time and as described it does kink a bit if you’re not careful it was to replace a 15 year old one seems about the same quality I only needed half the quantity so if ti doesn’t last as long as the old one I have a spare

light easy to instal in reel. A tendency to kinks in hose. I have to unreel and straighten out bits of hose regularly

Does the job! Quite a bit more flexible than the old Hozelock hose it replaced. The old one was at least 10 years old and was used to connect our outside tap to our hose reel plus general garden watering. It does seem to kink more easily than the older stiffer one so it will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Its long!! Of course its 50m but I’m never very good at judging, it reaches the bottom of my garden so quite happy.
It was a little bit of a pain to unwrap, maybe I didnt think it through, but as I wanted to wind it cleanly onto my hose reel i decided to lay it out in a straight line first… Except as I unpackaged it, it managed to get all tangled up, kinks in every hoop, so took me ages threading it through itself to get it straight. I’m sure there was a much simpler way, but it was too late for me.
Seems durable enough, a little stiff but its a hose, its doesn’t leak – it serves its function.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strong but a little awkward to unravel

Generally a good quality hose which seals well with standard connectors.
One problem. The hose is quite flexible which is generally good, but the downside is that it frequently forms kinks and shuts off the water supply. I would suggest that if you normally wind and unwind the hose on a spool you should perhaps go for a hose with firmer side walls. For use where the hose is permanently extended it’s fine.

Perfect for what I need it for ( cleaning out the chicken coop) I think I might also use it to clean the car! How exciting! Really REAlllllY simple to attach to my outside garden tap. It took me literally 30 seconds! I had to look it up on YouTube but it was the first video up and it was also… About 30 seconds long. Super simple even for me!
Great! I’m also using it to water the plants and it’s generally just fun to squirt water around. Excellent!

…for my pressure washer. I have an expanding hose, but it’s not really suitable for pressure washers. Firstly it’s far too long (when expanded), also the hose contracts, when the washer is in standby and expands when the trigger is pressed. So I was delighted when this hose arrived. At 15 metres there’s more than enough. I connected the Hozelock connectors (if you didn’t already know I always heave a small container of boiling water, which you dip the end of the hose in and you will find it’s easier to make a good connection) and connected it to the washer.

Yes it did kink the first time I used, but on the next few times it wasn’t so bad and is continuing to improve. I’ll probably get a wall mounted reel for it soon. All-in-all I’m completely satisfied.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis really is a great “starter” hose, weird though that concept may be. “Oh yes, we’re just seeing whether a fire engine is really suitable for us…”

We’ve actually been using a hose like this for many years, one on a spool that attaches to a wall close to an outside tap, so rather than as a starter hose, we’ve used it as a second hose that can be swapped over when we need water in a less accessible part of the garden, and need more than just a couple of watering cans, for example when needing to establish a lot of newly planted vegetable plants. This means we can have a spare hose permanently run out along a difficult route, exactly to where we’ll need it while the other remains neatly coiled up for the area it most conveniently serves. Over-organised? You bet! You’d be too when you have to negoatate obstacles like spiky shrubs and fences every time you have to run a hose somewhere!

The hose itself has a non-kink kind of material, but over the course of time this can end up being easier to put kinks into than it was when new. The array of attachments includes a couple of end pieces, one for the tap end, one for the nozzle end, and a vari-spray nozzle that goes between a fierce jet of water to a fine spray with a twist of the yellow barrel. It really is the basics. You can buy trigger operated watering nozzles that are more like watering can versions (a large “rose”) and all the specialist stuff later, but if you’re starting up in a new home and the garden is all getting planned out, one of these is a great introduction to getting the garden cared for.

Note that the “tap connector” is for threaded taps such as those outdoors that are designed for threaded attachments (they have a thread on the tap nozzle). If you don’t have an outside tap you will need to add to the purchase another type of tap attachment, perhaps the type that closes over the end of a mixer tap such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hozelock-Ltd-Mixer-Tap-Connector/dp/B07TC7VCHD or https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hozelock-Round-Mixer-Connector-HOZ2177/dp/B011SEVW8K .

That’s the one complaint I would have about this, that it presupposes you have a suitable outdoor tap. I’ve seen plenty of homes without one! I think it needs that small addition to warrant the final star.

Its a cheap starter kit yes it kinks occasionally what do you expect for a cheap hose? its nothing you cant unkink as you use it, The spray head however is bloody useless on mine for anything other than a jet stream I ended up buying a multi spray gun for 7 on here and am perfectly happy with this hose. I use it for cleaning the car weekly and watering the garden like most people would and only once in a while when pulling the hose along does it kink so if you watch out when doing this you should have no problems.

Needed an extra bit of hose to reach the very bottom of my garden which we’ve started cultivating. Original 50M hose just didn’t reach. Know the name “Hozelock” and it got good reviews so thought I’d give it a go. Easy to fit connectors, (which aren’t Hozelock) and seems to be fairly well made and sound. I’ve only given 4 stars as it does seem very prone to kinks. The old hose I have, not Hozelock, looks to be of similar construction and is about 30 years old, still going strong despite being left out all year round. Never kinks. The Hozelock one develops kinks every time I use it, although similar in appearance feels much softer, more maliable. Easy to “un-kink” but still a bit annoying on running a staright section down the garden.

This is a good value starter set and it works well it has all the attachments need to get started. My only complaint is that the hose is quite easy to kink as it’s not very ridged especially when it’s warm, This isn’t a big issue though as it’s on 15m long. would probably look at getting a reinforced hose from the hoselock range if I wanted something bigger than 25+ m. I use this with the hoselock bracket and accessory holder ( in my previous reviews) and they work really well together for 20.

I was keen to buy this hose as my previous hose is a Hozelock and I find it really good quality, I just needed a longer one. However, after reading so of the reviews regarding kinking etc I was a little hesitant in buying it. I’m pleased to say you need to worry, providing you follow some of the tips others have posted.

Fill the hose before un-ravelling, this will put some strength in the pipe to help prevent kinking. However, be aware it will kink when you first un-ravel it. It only takes a couple of minuets to straighten it out and your sorted.
Put the hose on a reel, I used my old one. If you don’t have one then maybe you should buy a hose that comes with the reel as without it you will be in kink-city.

I’ve now used mine several times with no issues at all.
