With new turf I was required to water daily. To save me time I bought this device. Bit fiddly to ensure no water leak at tap and required plumbers tape to ensure no drip fit but very flexible timer which works really well. Recommend.

Bought this for my aunt who is living on her own and of the older generation. I set it up in my garden first as just to ensure it works and at dusk it came on no problem. Will take it to her garden now as it’s already set up and save time as the older generation sometimes can’t wait!!
    Overall very impressed

These tap waterers are all very expensive. I used two of this model (and one of a different model) last season. The problem with this partcular model, the Hozelock Sensor Electronic water timer with daylight sensor, is that although it seems easy to set up, it is pretty hard to tell whether you have got it working properly: this apparently simple design needs to be simpler.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo far so good. Reliably comes on at sunrise and/or dusk which makes it so easy to set up and leave to do its thing. Can adjust length of time it runs for or press manual button to water in between set times if required without interrupting preset timing. Time will tell how long batteries last but you can easily monitor that on a daily basis. If I was going away for a week or so I’d replace the batteries just in case they do fail whilst away. If you did that I think each time you replace them it would need 6 hours as some say to set itself again before it works as required but if you did that a couple of days before you go away you have time to monitor its functioning then you know it will work as required…basic common sense really

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this July 2018 and it’s still watering my garden (irrigation system) automatically to this day. I have replaced the batteries once in the 3 year period. I am writing this review because I’m impressed that it’s still working. I did expect to fail as I keep forgetting to bring it in over the winter and so it was left out through ice and heavy rain. I am either very lucky or Hozelock have done or good job with the design. My only complaint would be the lack of a rain sensor – it would be nice if the watering was turned off when it’s pouring.

Not having used the sensor controller yet I am impressed with the prompt delivery and the way my son was able to fit the units. It took a few minutes to connect the two hoses but seemed to be working well for two fittings. As the soil is sandy and gets very dry time will tell as to how long a time will be needed to keep the plants and shrubs alive.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersWhy the categories in the review have Warmth and Sherness is beyond me, back to the product…..the instructions were very confusing….had to phone hozelock ( I have fitted IKEA furniture so no stranger to confusing instructions the Hozelock support lady simply read the instructions over the phone, didn’t help at all, then she found some alternate instructions and eventually, between us we discovered how to set it up. There are 3 zones, the top left grey one is if you want water in the morning ONLY and set a time 2-60 minutes ( wish there was a 40 minutes setting ) the Right hand grey zone is if you want watering in the Evening ONLY again 2-60 minutes, the BLUE zone at the bottom is if you want watering Morning PLUS evening again 2-60 minutes…..there is an instant on water button, which I think is 60 minutes ( not sure yet ) also Hozelock told me pressing this resets the timer…..not sure what exactly it can reset ? Hopefully it resumes dawn dusk operation after the instant time has ended…..pressing and holding the instant on button gives a battery level indication…..green for ok and red for not ok……hope that helps…will update when I see if it actually works. The manual says something about not starting a cycle for 24 hours, not sure if that’s true or not, but can’t see why……looks well made and with a 2 year guarantee…..added a small piece of plastic pipe to insulate transmitted noise through the wall….

5.0 out of 5 stars Poor confusing instructions but perfect for the job

We have used tap timers (not Hozelock) for several years but they have proven to be unreliable to the detriment of our hanging baskets and potted plants.

This dawn to discuss option fits our requirement exactly. we like the simple dawn/dusk sensing and the ability to let the` tap flow for other uses by the simple press of button.

We are so pleased with this product that we have just ordered a second one to cover our rear garden watering requirements.

    Strongly recommended.

The first of these did not work but Hozelock and Amazon were very quick at sending a replacement. We have just used this for a week and it has been fine – it’s easy to install and there is enough variation on the programmes to work for most people. No problems so far.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this item to replace a similar Hoselock one that I had had for many years. This new model is a great improvement on the older one (and that was good and reliable) they appear to have thought of every improvement. Very simple to set up, light sensor switches it on at dusk and dawn, senses low battery level to prevent risk of failure in ON position, easy to replace batteries (now just 2AA ones) now no need to remove screws and dismantle like the old one. It has been in use for 4 weeks now works perfectly. Cannot comment on battery life yet but am expecting them to last watering season.

Our old one from Hozelock lasted 10 years before battery connections rusted up and we could no longer bank on it’s reliability. Noted that this model is an upgrade; although it does have one build fault that they should rectify. The front panel which has all the timer features on it, is just a push fit to main body. Two screws holding the front panel in place would have been a far better improvement. Will either fit a fat elastic band around it, or even better still a removable plastic tie. Has anyone noted any faults of concern with it?

So easy to use, set time period one one side for twice a day, the other side for once, and it comes on after dawn and/or dusk. Minus one star for the battery running flat after it had activated, meaning my sprinkler was lon for 12 hours instead of ten minutes.

Works fine but lid over batteries does not clip firmly into place and the sticker at one end holds it in place – which not impressive and makes one doubt it’s longevity. Bought 3 and water drips out of centre of one. Took some fiddling and an extra washer to get seal to work well between tap and controller on two.
