Really like this cut throat blade. Its all metal construction and not plastic like others i have tested. Placing a new blade is still tricky but manageable so perhaps a better system is needed but other than its great, easy to hold and use and looks really nice

I like to use these for the bits that are left behind after a basic head and facial shave. So for this I use it on the back of the neck, around the ears and underneath the chin (all the bits my husband misses). This is not a ‘cut throat’ razor to my knowledge and you buy the blades to insert when needed. I use this as a close tidy up tool and it does the job very well.

I received the Kaliph Professional Cut Throat Razors for Men as a gift and I have to say, I’m thoroughly impressed. The razor matches its description and claims, and the presentation is top-notch. The razor itself feels well-made and not cheap at all. It’s a great value for the price. I highly recommend this product to any hair/beard enthusiast out there!

This razor is a great investment for anyone looking to switch to a cutthroat razor. The single edge blade provides a clean and precise shave without any irritation. The razor itself is well-built and feels premium in your hand. The only downside is that it takes some time to get used to the technique of using a cutthroat razor. Overall, I highly recommend this product for those looking for an upgrade in their shaving experience.

This is a lovely cut throat razor. The metal is coated with a really nice finish and it is really nice and comfortable to hold. The item does not come with any blades so make sure you buy some to use with it when you buy this item. Excellent value for the price point too. Really happy with this item.

A well made cut throat razor. It feels nicely made with no sharp edges or casting marks. It’s finished in a nice matte black and comes in a nice leatherette looking case.

If you’re looking for a really close shave, then you’re at the right place. Never had a closer shave! Ideal for woman as well as men for arms and legs.

You’ll need to purchase blades separately as they don’t come with in the box.

    Thank you for reading.

This Cut Throat Razors for Men is a very good quality razor. It has a very nice weight and feel to it with a easy to change latch for blade changing. It has a very nice feel in the hand. It does not ship with blades so ensure you have some on hand. The sheath is a nice touch and looks elegant on the bathroom counter top.
Overall good quality nice feeling razor.

This is the second not a “cut throat” but a “Shavette” razor I have tried.

It is very well made, and looks the part, but it’s not a Cut Throat Razor, despite the product description.

I don’t have any experience of a sharp new but traditional style Cut Throat Razor, I inherited one, but it was long neglected, and I don’t think it provides a good metric.

With shaving it is preparation first, and foremost and with a traditional razor that is all the more important, so a soft beard washed with piping hot water, and a good soap for lubrication.

These of course require half blades, or a broken in half safety razor blade inserted into the holder.
Note the handle splits into two in a scissor motion in order to load the blade.

The profile is then different to the progressive shape of real razor, which I think makes getting the attack angle right – harder, get it wrong, and you will bleed.
Well worth checking out how to do this videos, as this is a skill.

So, compared to my traditional (but new) safety razor there is the advantage of their being only one edge to blunt/use, but I found it harder to load, and then harder to use, admittedly it’s been a while since I used a Shavette, and practice and habit help.

However safety razors took over for good reasons, they curved the blade of a thin razor blade to a better angle, were indeed safer, and so are a quicker shave.

They are not however as quick to a really close shave as a modern multi-blade cartridge razor.

And that’s the rub, traditional blades are cheaper, some argue better for hair and skin as they don’t cut as close, and encourage hair to grow correctly, but they do take more time to a smooth finish.

However traditional shaving has a sense of occasion, and if you have the time is rewarding.

I think this is a good shavette.

I have a few shavette razors. This is not a true cutthroat razor. It takes half a disposable razor blade, which is actually much easier than a true straight razor as you don’t have to worry about sharpening or maintaining. Just pop the cover open and align half a blade then close it up. Job done and ready to shave.

The razor is stainless in a black finish. It’s easy to use and hold. Just pop the cover. You will need a disposable razor blade, keep it in the wax paper and gently fold it over then press the middle to snap. Then take one half for the shavette, align with the dots as best you can and close the lid. Ideally the less blade showing, the better and importantly the less likely you will be to cut the skin.

This is comfortable to use and personally i like to use a shavette for removing a weeks worth of stubble in a single shave. The big advantage being that it doesn’t get clogged up by hair.

This is not the same as a 10 blade razor you can throw around you face without any worry. This is a very different shaving experience. Take a very very light touch, and allow the razor to do the work. The lighter the pressure, the less likely you are to take a chunk of flesh. Gentle smooth movements, and never in a slicing motion. If you haven’t used a shavette/ straight razor before it will take practice but you will be able to get a fantastic shave that is far better than a disposable razor. If you are using cheap blades i also recommend stropping on a wet cloth (drag the blade edge back like it’s dragged over rather than cutting into) before 1st use to take a rough edge off and make the 1st shave easier.

You will be able to use the disposable blade for at least a few shaves before needing replaced. So it works out as great value and a fraction of the price of disposable razors. There’s also no plastic waste as a result as any blades disposed of will eventually rust and degrade.

Included in the pack is a drawstring pouch for storage which is a nice extra and does the job.

This would make a unique gift for a man whonlikes something unusual.

Good quality and value. Recommended. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful.

This is a frame for a traditional razor – note that no blades are supplied, and must be purchased separately. Instructions are included on how to snap a razor blade in half to fit it, as a double sided one can’t work.
The item itself isn’t bad, although it took me an age to get it open to a point where a blade could be fitted, even looking at the instructions. It’s quite light, but also quite thin in the hand – if you would be more comfortable having a bit more to hold onto while moving a razor blade around then maybe a different one would suit.

as described this item is the holder only and doesn’t come with any blades, so bear this in mind when ordering.

The item itself has a quality feel and is a nice weight to hold. The design is simple and yet classy.

finding the middle point of this is easy due to its nicely designed.

You can split the blade holder easily and the retaining pins will hold a blade effectively.

Blades aren’t provided with this item which I thought was strange as I had to confirm my age when accepting the delivery. It’s a decent quality razor handle, nice smooth feeling. Opens and closes well.

It’s fairly clear in the description and pictures that this is not actually a razor but is a shavette – that being you need to fit a blade to it (as opposed to it being an actual blade you sharpen) and you do not get blades with it.

It is really nicely made and well balanced with a good weight – blades fit and are held securely (I used both a specific single edged blade for use with shavettes and also a double edged blade snapped in half to test) and it gives a good shave.

As with all shavettes – familiarity and practice are required to get the best out of it as each one is different, has a different weight and balance etc, some are easier to use than others.

I found this one to be really easy to use with a nice weight and balance and it would be perfect for a new beginner – less than a tenner also, it’s a nice bargain.

Part of an Eid gift for my bil.

This has a nice weight to it and easy to hold.

    It comes WITHOUT razors.

I purchased those separately and they only cost 4 quid for 100 of them.

This is great for those who like a very close shave.

Always be careful with them ie; dont try shaving with kids running around. Common sense should ensue lol

    Good quality barber razor.

This straight razor is nicely made and feels durable. It is easy to install the blade and it feels secure. Having the option to change the blade is great as it is cheaper than traditional disposable razor heads and it means you can always use a sharp blade for a smoother shave. The razor comes with a storage pouch which is handy. Comfortable to use and easy to hold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice razo

    – A very stylish piece of equipment.
    – This item is clearly well made and it’s pretty comfortable when being held.
    – The mechanism is tight, which is good because you clearly want it to stay in position whilst using it.
    – You will need to snap a double edged razor in half to install it, but that very easy and the instructions show you how.

    Usage:
    – This will take some practice. As you can see from my pics the out come is not as perfect as it might have been. There is a very particular angle required to get a shave close to the skin without it pulling the hair.
    – CAREFUL! You need to be so very careful with this, it not for those who have never used a straight edge razor before. I have been using and Edwin & Jger razor for 10 years now and that takes some practice, but this still posed a challenge.

4.0 out of 5 stars CAREFUL! Needs a steady hand. Excellent build quality. Excellent finish.

Kaliph Professional Cut Throat Razors for Men – Barber Grade Single Edge Blade Straight Razor – Premium Choice Mens Razors for Shaving – Essential Cutthroat Barber Razor for Hair/Beard Enthusiasts

As a Shavette I would have given this 5 Stars, so I will start with the Cons – and they are only for the listing, not for the product.

    Cons
    1) For the uninitiated, this is a Shavette and not a Cut Throat Razor, there is a difference, a minor one, but a difference all the same, Straight or Cut Throat Razors have solid blades that manufacturers forge into the spine, this needs honing when it gets blunt The difference between a Cut Throat Razor and a Shavette is that Shavettes have disposable blades that clasp into a slot along the razor’s spine.
    2) The Model in the 5th photo down in the listing has never used a Shavette or Cut Throat razor in his life, you don’t hold it like that and you never cross over, you use your right hand to shave your right side and your left hand to shave the left.

    On to the Pros
    1) This is a lovely looking Shavette.
    2) It’s really well balanced
    3) It’s Stainless Steel not Aluminium
    4) The Video in the listing is really helpful in showing you how to hold the razor, unlike the model in photo 5, this person knows how to hold a Shavette or cut throat razor.
    5) Very comfortable to hold

Tip – Derby do a pack of professional single edge blades for Barber razors that will fit perfectly.

    Many more Pros than Cons

I wish I could give it 5 Stars, and would have had the listing been more accurate

4.0 out of 5 stars Shavette NOT Cut-Throa
