I am loving it but I believe the next part which is the part that you wrapped around is too thin. Can break easily

Meets silver standard for locks (uk) as long as you use both parts together. Though the D-can be used on its own quite effectively. Other bit (cable) is good if you have more than one bike to lock up as gives a bit more reach. Sturdy lock, feels secure.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI had this lock for 10 months locking my bike in central London. Considering that I leave my bike always outdoors and it’s still here, it turns out to be a secure lock. However, after ten months of leaving it outside, it started to get rusty at the point where I had to throw it. Maybe if I had used earlier some lubricant or if it had some basic maintenance, it would be still usable. If you are looking for a cheap secure lock, it seems like a good option. But if you leave your bike outside often, don’t expect it to last for long.

Fantastic lock! However I wasn’t able to mount it onto my bike, but this is more because of my bikes shape rather than the locks fastening system. But word of warning if you do choose to take the mounting system off wipe down the lock thoroughly as there is some grease there that can make marks. Apart from that a great piece of kit! A great heavy duty lock

Good lock, it can be a little bit fiddly sometimes when you try to turn the key all the way to lock just make sure you have the two ends of the curved bar all the way into the straight one and it will lock. I still have a bike and it’s been left locked up in many places and left so I’d say the lock is doing its job well

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI was wary of buying this because of the reviews claiming the lock was fiddly to use with the key. I went ahead anyway, and I’m glad I did because it’s a really decent lock for the price. Lots of people have said that it’s too small, but I’ve had no trouble at all fastening the lock around a rooted post and my back wheel so it’s plenty secure, and it’s a standard sized bike. The fact that the base of the lock actually detaches makes it easier in my opinion, though this is something others seemed to dislike.

The only reason I’ve gone for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I *did* have an incident with the key not working very recently, which is what I assume others were talking about, but I was able to see exactly what the issue was and know how to prevent it in the future (hopefully!). Basically, the best way I can think to describe it is that the channel of the lock is made up of segments that, when you put the key in, all twist at the same time. However, when you pull the key out after locking, if you slightly twist the key at all it twists those top few channels, but not the lowest ones. As a result, it’s then hard to put the key back in, because the channel is no longer straight (I hope this makes sense!) But the fix is literally just to put the key in as far as you can get it, then twist gently until the channels re-align and you can push the key in all the way.

I know that sounds complicated, but it’s really not, and if you just experiment with the lock when you receive it, you’ll see what I mean and how easy it is to resolve. If I end up having this issue again and it’s worse, I’ll edit my review, but for now I would say don’t let the other reviews put you off. It’s a good size, sturdy, and not tricky to use once you suss it out.

Also, I noted that some reviews criticised the lock because their bike got nicked, but based on the photos they had secured the bike with the provided cable and then closed the cable with the heavy-duty lock. This is NOT how you lock a bike! Never have the wire cable as your primary source of security — secure the back wheel of the bike to a rooted post and, if you want the extra security, you can loop the wire through your front wheel.

Good lock, you know what your getting when you buy a well known brand. This was my first time purchasing a kryptonite lock and has been great.
It’s quite easy to use, although sometimes the key hole can be a little fiddly.
The d lock is very strong and sturdy and for what I need it to do it works just fine.
    5 stars.

Good all round lock. Wire cable is a little small but still long enough for your front wheel. D lock the bike frame, can’t see my bike going any where. Would recommend.

I couldn’t open it once so I had to watch a video to unlock my bike. Just be careful to lock and unlock it perfectly otherwise it doesn’t open, if it doesn’t unlock just keep shaking the key slowly to open it.

It works and is well greased so the lock is easy enough except the mounting bracket shifting between uses/if you touch it so it blocks for the lock to slide properly on. I’m tired of fighting to push the bracket back along the d lock bar so I’ll be removing it and will have to carry the lock on the bike’s handlebars instead.

I needed something to lock my electric scooter outside a health centre while I had my booster jab. After looking at everything Amazon had to offer I picked this, largely because of the brand. I have to say I’m pleased with it. The D lock easily slips round a standard bike rack, with the Kryptonite name visible as a deterrent. Not used the steel cable yet, but it’s good to take along in case it’s needed. Yes there’s some weight and bulk in the backpack, but not while it’s in use on the scooter and you’re free to roam. Don’t hesitate. Comes with two keys and a 300 guarantee.

This is Kriptonites standard lock and great for what I need a lock for, if you leave your cycle for long pariods of time I would recommend a Kriptonite stronger lock. But I only leave my cycle to go in and out of shop and always lock it with two d locks and cable which comes with the lock. They say would take 8 to 15 minute for anyone to get through the locks with the right tools, so not made to leave the cycle all day long but great value for what I wanted it for, I have seen people look at my cycle which is a e-bike but never seen anyone trying to tackle the locks. A lot of theives circle areas everyday and get used to what bikes are being left and they focus on the ones being left for long pariods of time, so if just using for general use these locks are great and very good value for money. So yes would recommend for short stay lock up of your cycle but would look higher up the market for long lock ups.

The Kryptonite brand is well known for their series of bike locks – Much to the dismay of many would-be thieves.

The addition of the metal cable allows for a bike to be easily secured through both the frame and both wheels without the additional cost of multiple locks – And the brand itself is often enough to scare away would be thieves!

Having used it for a week, the key and locking mechanism appear to be fine, no sticking, jamming or issues other reviewers raised (yet).

The lock mount is less impressive (although I have not installed the mount yet as I can foresee the issue). The piece of plastic slot on the U-lock used to slot into the mount is not tightly secured in place, the slot piece turns and has movements, which means if the lock is slotted to the lock mount, it would likely to swing and move as you ride along, potentially trapping/obstructing the leg movement.

The cable is of ok length, seems (just) reasonably secure, nothing amazing. For my purpose on a reasonably ordinary bike, it is fine, but I would not rely on this lock for any fancy expensive bike.
