purchased to put two hinges on a door, first time, and it served the purpose well. the jig is a little limited, the circle for the hinge is ok yet the pointer for the screw holes were not in the same spot for my actual hinges. not a real problem i managed yet maybe the jig could accommodate for more type of hinges where the screws go beside the hinge hole rather than atop. overall pleased with the purchase

Just what we wanted to make holes for hinges in a couple of replacement cupboard doors. Everything you need to make the perfect cutout for the set in part of the hinge is included.
The blade is sharp and cuts a clean hole and the depth can be easily adjusted.

Maybe not one of those things that you might need to use very often, but invaluable when you need it! And it’s only a few quid too, so well worth having!

Just hold the device to the edge of the door and you can’t go wrong. Only thing you need to do is find the centre of the circle. MDF gets jammed in the cutter so you need to clean it out 2 or 3 times to finish 1 successful hole. I’m happy with it either way. Done plenty doors with this.

I was sceptical before buying due to the price. But the cutter is fantastic the only item I can’t work out what it is for is the guide tool that’s pretty much useless. But the cutter itself is brillia

So I think you have to see this as just the dill bit, and you get a ‘template’ tool, which may or may not help. It isn’t a jig really as firstly the blade won’t fit through, and more importantly YOUR hinges are very likely to require very differnt placement of holes.

I got must more accurate and easier results by simply using a steel rule, sharp pencil and 10 minutes staring trying to understand the install diagram that came with my hinges! Finally after a test run in an old bit of ply worked it out.

Anyway the blade with this kit was plenty sharp enough, and the fine centre point allows you to accurately position the blade without need for a jig…. but the jig (as shown in the video) was kind useful for drawing the hole and acts as a ‘test’ cupboard door if that makes sense so you can make and visualise how it’s all gonna work.

Anyway got there in the end, will keep the blade, will lose the jig!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine for a small job if your compete

Few negative reviews which almost put me off. Either way at the price thought I’d take the risk. Great bit of kit and did exactly what I needed! Would recommend!

One of the screws that came with it didn’t even have a thread. If you are using this I assume you have some DIY experience and hopefully already have some bits and pieces, in this case similar size screws, you can use otherwise it is a lot more difficult to use accurately. Once the circle was identified it did work. Only used it three times, once on a test piece of wood and for two holes on the kitchen door so cannot comment on longevity. One suggestion to the manufacturer is why not put a grove on the sides to help establish the centre point of the circle.

Bits advertised in a wooden box, as a set, but arrived individually packaged in plastic containers. False advertising! If you use a picture including a box, that is what the customer expects.

Our new built in washing machine didn’t match the hinge positions on our decor door. Having never used one of these drill bits before, I was slightly apprehensive about drilling the door. You only get one shot, so I measured it several times before starting!
This drill bit comes with an end stop, which you use to set your drill depth so you don’t go right through the door. It worked a treat.
All fitted and looking good! Definitely recommended.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe way Amazon stack reviews may mean you miss out on some relevant recent views , stack them in order of newest and you find alot of complaints that drill is bigger than jig, My drill was a half a mm bigger than the jig. I just screwed the jig to a scrap of wood and used the cutting tool to enlarge the hole, took a total of around four minutes. It left the hole in jig a little rough but smooth it with a bit of wet and dry then its a perfect match , totally useable. the drill bit is of a half decent quality , dont forget for the money its not gonna be professional quality and drill thousands of holes , its more of a DIY standard to drill half a dozen holes then you dont care about it after that . theres no instructions and to be honest the online videos prove that perhaps the jig isnt of much use in the end anyway , seems a little too complicate/simple dependant on viewpoint. For its minor fault , not worth sending back , use some little skill to make it work , well worh the money in my opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars some issues but it will work

Good drill bits, but you really need these in a pull down drill. Trying to use them with a hand drill is pointless. They bounce about all over the place.

i brought these to use with a wood lathe and have used the biggest sized bit only so far – used on very hard 50 year old oak and it cuts quickly , very cleanly and very well . only issue they are quite short , did buy an extension bar but some have hex ends and some have larger round stock ends .. so the extension bar won’t fit the bigger ones which is a bit annoying . they do what they are designed to do very well

Super clean cut, hard wearing bits. Easily some of the best forstner’s i’ve used, and for such a low price. Been using them consitantly on hardwords for 2 months and are still working just as new

All the bits cut very well, leaving nice clean holes as described. Would say though, that the bigger bits (50mm up) are better for table/steady drills instead of a hand drill as the more surface it has to cut on, the harder it gets to maintain the drill from ‘jumping’. No wear and tear so far, also a plus!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsed many times and still sharp.Have used others three times the price and not been as good.
Highly recommended for accuracy and hard wearing.( only used in a drill press, not recommended for use in hand held drill.Could cause serious injury)
