Bought to replace a much older DAB radio that could only do DAB and not DAB+. Good price, easy to set up and sounds good. Sound is better with headphones as then you get the benefit of the stereo signal from DAB+.

    I’d prefer a Radio-alarm to an alarm-signal.
    I use the sleep-timer regularly.
There’s a lot on the drop-down menu but if you accidentally retune it’s a few minutes before the unit is ready.

We bought this to use in our caravan for our trips around the country. Found i difficult to rescan for stations at each stop and sometimes struggled to find signal. When you have signal and the station stored the radio is grea

All what you see at the front is a slim rectangular perforated panel with a small tuning window set within. All operational buttons are set up at the top and sunk so as to be barely visible. The batteries compartment has been set at the back so as not to impinge on the minimalist design. It is completely digital, no rotary tuning nobs or the like. Setting it up and using it is a bit like setting and using a laptop which can be somewhat cumbersome at times. Otherwise the quality of the sound and tuning are good. My wish list include a simple button press for navigating stored channels/tuning.

Great little radio. Not fully tried yet but going camping this week so will get a good try out. Set up easy once you understood the logic. Good volume enough for sitting and relaxing with a nice Malibu and coke.

If you want a small sized DAB radio, then this is the one for you!

Can be run off of electric or can be run on batteries which makes it great to take to the beach on a sunny day. If you are worried about other people on the beach listnening to your radio then you can always use the 3.5mm jack to plug your headphones into.

The sound is exceptional from this small DAB radio no matter how high you have the volume it is always crystal clear.

Want an alarm in the morning to wake you up to your favorite station? This radio can do it !

I can’t find any fault from this small DAB radio, everything is perfect.

For the price you pay, you certainly get your moneys worth

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic DAB radio

I bought this especially to get Boom Radio as my other DAB radio couldn’t receive it.

The quality is brilliant & the radio is definitely value for money, I would certainly recommend it.

This is a great little radio. It’s so easy to use and sound great. I remember as a kid my mum always had a radio on in the mornings. Now my kids can have the same memories. Thank you.

Quick to setup sounds good for the size. The quietest setting is loader than I would like for being quietly in the background.

The radio is exactly what I expected for the price. It is compact and light. Set up instructions are incomplete but it did not take long to figure it out. It’s functional and it works.

Just received and set up. It seems very good quality and sound is good for such a small radio. Setting up was easy. 3 year warranty is exceptional. I hope to have many years of enjoyment from this radio.

Saw this on Amazon, it has everything you need to play any station in fantastic clarity, on other radios you have to turn up the volume so much it distorts, with this DAB radio, I can keep the volume fairly low and get crystal clear audio.easy to use, more or less designed for ease of use, buttons on the top foe easy access, manual search or auto search, scroll through the alphabet of stations, I never knew there were so many. My old DAB radio wouldn’t pick up stations, it was about ten yrs old, not giving out names, but it’s sound was Pure. This little box of tricks does so much more, even has a clock on in the LCD display on standby mode. First class sound ,and first class price!

The sound is great on this little DAB radio, have not used on battery power so far. The mains power plugs in the side via a USB connector, a good length cable. A clear digital display, configuration was very easy, listening to music with2 minutes from opening the box.

Probably a lot smaller then I expected but not a problem – sound is excellent!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPurchased as a replacement for a ‘superior’ branded dab+ clock radio that failed after a couple of years which cost well over 3 times as much.
Its simple to set up and use and has a telescopic arial rather than a silly thread of wire as many clock radios do.
It also comes with a pluged mains adapter so it does not require the additional purchase of a USB lead and plug.
The display will not keep you awake at night as many do and can be dimmed if required.
The sound is surprisingly good for a product at this price it’s not audiophile but it’s not meant to be.Its perfect for use in a bedroom, study, garage etc.

Very Highly Recommended at this price !

My Histon radio arrived promptly. It is surprisingly light and portable, and it would fit anywhere.

I ordered it on the strength of a phone inquiry I made a few days ago to Majority’s customer help desk.

It worked first time out of the box and the instructions are in English – they are easy to understand!

    I am delighted with it.

I bought myself a better digital portable radio than the one I have already. The main reason was to wean myself off BBC Radio, I mostly listen to news programmes and talk radio. The Histon II radio had an Amazon recommendation.

I found the set up , scanning for stations pretty straightforward. Storing the stations in the pre-set memory was a pain in the neck, the instructions were not straightforward, perhaps they want to include a menu in flow chart format. I considered sending it back. I turned the set off and found out that I had to reload the pre-set stations, but it works OK now. The description says that there is 30 hrs battery life, not sure that is correct.

I works OK now and I do not listen to too much “Beeb propaganda”.

Having finally had to recycle my 30+ year old radio alarm clock, I finally settled on this one, which has proven to be almost perfect. Unlike my old alarm clock, this one not only has DAB digital radio, but a rigid aerial rather than one of those spindly wire aerials, with the result that you get really clear, good quality sound without interference, and it’s much easier to deal with the aerial. In addition, you have the choice of plugging it in (great in the bedroom) or using 4 x AA batteries, meaning you can take it anywhere with you – to the garden, camping etc.
Most of the time, the display shows the time and also the date, except when the alarm is going off – the radio will stay on for an hour if you leave it when the alarm goes off, and during this time, the time is not shown on the display, which is a minor irritation.
The biggest drawback of this product is the small size of the clock display. I can see it easily at any time, as it sits on my side of the bed, but my husband has no way of using it to tell the time from his side of the bed.
The display is also surprisingly bright in the dark, so that’s something to be aware of if you don’t like light sources in your bedroom at night; it creates far more of an eery glow than most red digital displays.
Another drawback you might want to consider, which isn’t major for me as I don’t use this function, is the tiny size of the snooze button and its location in the row of equally tiny buttons along the top.
If the drawbacks I’ve mentioned aren’t a big issue for you, then I totally recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great alarm clock radio but small display

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was looking for a low cost DAB radio, in part to experiment with as I live in Cornwall and was unsure just how well DAB works here. The reviews of this radio seemed to be a little confusing but were generally supportive. I was more interested in using this as a tuner ie. to play through a hifi system so I took the plunge and ordered one. I was impressed by its DAB tuning ability as it picked up 62 stations including all the BBC ones, Classic FM and local Cornwall stations. There was at least one DAB+ station and may be more. This was with the radio in the back of my house on the ground floor. Going upstairs made no difference and it still found the same 62 stations. FM was just as good and picked up all the relevant stations for me. The radio has a telescopic aerial attached but no external aerial connection so cannot be enhanced by using a better aerial. When set to FM, you can press the Enter/Snooze button on the top of the unit and it switches between mono and stereo mode according to the LCD screen and the user manual. However , this unit only has one speaker so is clearly mono only. I wondered if the headphone out socket might give out stereo if attached to stereo headphones or used to plug into a hifi system. Sadly the answer is no. Therefore you cannot use this unit as a stereo tuner. The same was equally true with DAB and there seems to be no way get stereo out of the unit. However, I was very impressed with the sound quality when plugged into my hifi system. The unit itself only has a small speaker and the quality of sound it gives is poor if you want to listen to music but acceptable for speech.
The unit comes with a mains adapter with a micro usb connector on it. It is the same usb as used on many older mobile phones so if it breaks, as in some of the questions, just search amongst your old mobile charges and you will likely find a replacement. I presume that the usb on the unit is for power in only. On some systems usb can be used as an audio out but I very much doubt that this is the case here.
It is also a clock with date and alarm. I haven’t tried to use these but the clock seems to work fine. The unit could therefore double as a bedside clock and radio.
For techys, there is nice info system which tells you the DAB station and bit rate that you are receiving. eg I get 160 bits on Radio 3 and 128 bits on Classic FM. Reading on Google suggests that the quality of FM is better than DAB at 128 bits. However, I was surprised to learn that internet streaming will often go up to 256 bits ie, way better. Perhaps DAB is not all that it is cracked up to be.

In summary, this small unit demonstrates the amazing quality of modern digital electronics. Given a good signal in, then the sound out will be excellent at low cost. If you are happy with mono from a poor speaker then fine but if you were hoping more you will have to feed the headphone out into a hifi unit. However, if you really want stereo you will have to look elsewhere.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOver the years I’ve had loads of DAB radios, and overall I am not a fan. Every one of them, no matter the price, suffer from signal drop-out and glitches if the wrong sort of car goes by, or you switch a light on, or put it in the wrong part of the room etc, etc, etc. So taking the general pappyness of DAB into account, this is a great little radio. I found a place in the room where it’s signal is stable, and it stays stable constantly, as long as I don;t move it around, but as I say, I’ve found this to be the so with every other DAB I’ve ever owned. For it’s size, which is quite dinky and cute, it has a very nice tone, very warm and not at all tinny. It’s easy to program and recall the memory slots and has a very clear white on black LED display. So, for a DAB, it’s not too bad at all. I would buy again if needed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s quite a small radio, with a lot of features. Inevitably, it sounds a bit tinny and doesn’t go very loud. The display is also rather small.

The buttons are small and almost identical, arranged in one line on the top. It would have better to space them out a bit more, and maybe use different shapes and/or colours. It also takes quite a few button presses to choose between the stored stations. You can’t just press up/down buttons to move between stored stations. The ergonomics could certainly be better.

If the mains power is cut and then restored, the radio doesn’t return to the standby state, but stays powered off. So the display doesn’t come back on, and I assume that the alarms don’t work. You have to manually turn it on again, which seems wrong. However, the memorised stations are retained, and the clock doesn’t need to be reset.

The brand proclaims its Britishness, with all models named after place or colleges in Cambridge. The instructions are indeed written in clear English, but the device itself is, of course, made in China.

Was delivered very fast, well packed. Also has 3 year warranty that you can activate on their website (all details on packaging).

The product is a compact design which is very handy as I will take mine fishing so it fits easily in the side pocket of my bag.
Takes 4xAA batteries but can also be plugged into the mains.

I would recommend if you are using batteries then take out one battery when you are finished with it as I left mine in yesterday and the little screen stays active with date and time on it. When I looked today the battery level was low (the screen will tell you this).

The sound is very good quality.

Product is very easy to use and comes equip with a manual to help you through.

Mine picked up 136 stations (this may vary) but you can add 10 preset stations on your choice by holding the preset button for 3 seconds, choosing which slot you want to select and pressing enter. (All buttons are labelled).

Has a decent stick Ariel that extends and stores neatly by clipping onto the back of the radio when you are not using it.

I would put this more in the 15-20 rather than 20-25. However, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a cheap, compact, lightweight, good quality radio to take around with them.
