Easy to use
I needed a padlock for our new bench that has storage under the seat. This is absolutely perfect, fits well, you can remove with one hand because of the easy number code. The lock itself has a sliding bar that is so easy to slide across and it seems very secure and sturdy. I have had this lock for a few months now and we had so much rain and this lock is still fine so can definitely vouch for the weatherproof and it hasn’t rusted. I am very impressed with it’s performance and definitely worth the price. I would recommend.
Shed padlock
This is great very very chunky sturdy but easy to use
Feels quality and well made from a good brand
Didn’t want a cheap brand to safeguard my stuff
Had it a while and in all weathers and it looks like new
Would highly recommend these
And would deffo buy agai
Good Shed Lock
Got this to replace an old shed lock. Has been used for about a year now, still working fine. Bit of surface rust but nothing that affects the use. Numbers have started to get a bit stiff but its out in all weathers, should be fine after a bit of WD40
Looks really sturdy
Not been exposed to much rain yet so can’t really comment on its weather proof capabilities yet. Looks extremely strong and feels substantial, a little awkward to line up numbers but hope that will ease over use.
Not so good
Found this hard to get on with it uses a little flimsy key to change your code so if you loose the key you cannot change code, lots of places to let water in ,strong lock but not for me
Good lock. Incorrect combination number.
Padlock is sturdy and exactly the size I needed. However, I was unable to open the lock with the factory issued combination number given. Managed to unlock it eventually, actual combination was 10 digits out!
Very sturdy but numbers fiddly to tu
Sturdy weatherproof lock which would be hard to bolt crop. However, despite oiling the code numbers are hard to turn and fiddly. I have another of these with a bigger face that is much easier.
Expected bette
For a brand like Masterlock I would have expected a little better quality overall.
The code is changed with a special key that I’m likely to loose, I was hoping it would be done with a screwdriver like other similar locks but alas not.
A solid enough lock
A nice solid lock but let down by small dials – well way too small for my sausage fingers anyhow. I find it quite difficult to move just one dial at a time.
I have a similar lock that uses a key & is way easier to use.
Packaging !
Never seen package like this before – 15 minutes entry time !
You need to unlock it, before you can take it off the packaging ? (Stops thieving from shop displays maybe)
After discarding the loose rubber facing, and filing off some sharp edges, we have a very good lock.
Love the way the turning dials are easily accessed from front and back, and the large gate for cables.
Robust enough to withstand a “two spanner” attack, but unsure if the reset key may provide a way in.
The outside SS cover was very smooth, but inside corners are sharp and hinder the clasp opening.
Feels like good solid protection for items inside my garage.
Heavy duty- can be sticky
This lock is heavy duty, we have it on our bike shed.
It is easy to set your code, but can be a bit sticky when entering your combination, and must be exactly on the numbers (which is actually a good thing) before it will open.
Make sure you lock with he correct side of numbers facing you to avoid confusion. Would recommend.
Sturdy
Very sturdy padlock and number dials are not loose like cheaper ones. Fitted to a Masterlock hinged hasp for a quick solution to make a cabinet secure. Easy to change combination when setting up. Looks like it will last for years, either indoors or out.
Great lock, except unlocking
Two problems with an otherwise great lock.
Firstly the lock has a front and back. If you lock it back to front, you might need to have a neck like inspector gadget to see the correct side.
Secondly, the more common problem is that the dials don’t ‘click’ into place. So you could have the correct code, but need to ‘fine tune’ the numbers into alignment. Not great when you’re out in the rain trying to unlock it.
Have a bank robber on hand to get the lock from the packaging..
I thought for the price this would be ideal, little did I know I needed a member of the Brinks Matt gang or the local Fire Brigade to get into the package to release the lock. No instructions to be found anywhere so I used it with the code it came with. Seems like a good product, but my God the person responsible for the marketing and packaging must be a safe cracker.
It feels a bit flimsy in the hand. Not what you’d expect a padlock to feel like.
Not exactly high security as it feels a little tinny in the hand. I really want a padlock to feel heavy and substantial, like it was wrought from solid iron. Not melted down coke cans.
The bolt and tumbler action was actually a little rough and gritty feeling so I gave it a good dose of 3in1 oil and now it feels a bit better.
This is okay for a garden gate (my use for it) but I wouldn’t employ it on anything high security. I don’t think it would take much of a battering.
Good lock - weather resista
Seems like a solid lock. No access to the bolt (by bolt cutters) when it is engaged. I haven’t had it very long so I don’t know how it will weather long term, but after a month in wet weather there are no visible signs of rust. I use it daily, and the only complaint I have is that the number wheels don’t have a solid “click” into position. I have medium-big fingers, so it’s hard to not turn an adjacent wheel when I change the numbers (I have this same problem on some other combination locks). I end up having to use my fingernail to sort of fine tune the wheel positions to get them aligned, which I can do because there is not a solid “detent” for the wheel numbers, just sort of a vague “click” feel. Just a minor nuisance, but the lock functions very well otherwise.
The number dials are very easy to move, they have an odd play that leads me to think they won’t jam but it is easy to feel when they have notched into the number you want to select.
The little key and initial code are under an adhesive label in the middle of the packaging. The paper instructions are folded up and are in a compartment in the plastic packaging. If you have a screwdriver and a small amount of aggressiveness you will find both easily.
You can easily remove the black rubber bumper that surrounds the dials. This will add about 2mm to the 16mm lock gap.
The keyway for the ‘choose your own code’ is a good spot to squirt some silicon spray. To make it weather-resistant I put a small blob of silicon grease in there.
I really like the metal tab for opening the lock. Another plus are the easy to spin dials. The dials are brass colour. I will get some sandpaper and see if that is only skin deep.
