Mistake I made was not buying a 50 m but that’s not reflective of this reel. I would definitely buy agai
Prior to buying this extension reel I had short listed a 3m extenstion bar with 3 sockets, + USB A’s and a USB C socket. However, decided to hunt for the same but 5m. Didn’t see exactly the same but chance upon this extension reel with built in light. Reckon that I will be using the light far more often and I could always plug in a separate USB charger to insert into the 4th socket.
I like the fact that the cable used is bright lime in colour and that it is designed to wind around the unit which the previous 3m extension bar doesn’t have. However, I shall be waiting for a Mark II version of this extension reel and I do mean a reel you can just wind line any other reel because this one, you have to wind by physically doing it yourself; laborious and takes a few more minutes than an ordinary reel.
I also like the 13amp rating because I have an existing reel which is 10 amp and it cuts out quite often because I overload it with two items being used at the same time.
For my work I have torches and head torches rated with higher lumens than this light on the extension but reckon it is still a good buy because this reel offers so much convenience (apart from the non-rotating winding for stowing the cable away.)
The reel is as described, 40 metres, or even possibly a bit more, as it seemed to go on forever when I unwound to check it so I’m happy with that. The sides of the reel are metal, which I prefer, but they had been deformed by overzealous or rough handling by Hermes/Evri or whatever they call themselves this week on its journey which was obvious by the very poor state of the outer cardboard box – I remedied this with a rubber mallet. One thing of note…the power on LED is off when the on/off switch on the reel is turned off even with the reel plugged in and live but comes on when the reel switch is turned on and I would have preferred it to be on continuously when the reel is plugged in and connected to mains voltage.
The plug is a bit plasticky and I may change it for a better one eventually.
The cable is not too springy and appears to be of an adequate spec for a maximum 13 amp load.
Reeling out and in is a breeze – you just need to use a bit of common sense utilising hands and feet combined.
Overall it seems good quality and should last for some time with a little care.
I replaced my old extension reel with this new one I can now switch the power on/off without going in the house and I have a cut out switch.
This is my second one of these.
The 1st one is still going strong after many years.
The cable is quality and has stayed subtle.
Really good quality branded extension cable.
Bought this to replace my old one which I gave to my daughter. Works as it should with the added benefit of a switch to turn it on/off and a light to show you it’s o
As an electrician i have used these a lot, most of them have trouble in the winding/rewinding of the cable. This one did the job well and the colour helps people stumble on it less. overall great value for money.
Really like this cable extension. Used for outdoor garden products ie lawn mower etc. Reels in and out easily and smoothly, no cable tangle, has a thermal safety cut out and the cable is fluorescent green/yellow, highly visible so can be seen easily, no trip hazard.
I have had many extension leads over the years & after purchasing this one I can safely say this was a great buy. The lead is highly visible to help prevent accidently tripping, the spool feels robust & high quality. Really like the on of swith too. I would highly recommend this produc
Arrived the next day , the box was very bashed about and I feared the worse . But on opening I found everything was ok , a quality well made reel , a bit smaller than the older one i had same size wire length 25 mitres , but it winds on ok and on the plus side takes up less storage space . So all in all an excellent product would buy agai
I had a 15m by the same brand and wanted something longer so bought this! It has not let me down, be warned if u turn ur back and someone touches it like any extension cable it’s a nightmare to untangle but super easy to use if used correctly, has shut off switch, a light that lets you know it has power, plug tidy to keep it neat once rolled back up. Great product and would recommend this brand, very sturdy and durable
The main reason why I bought this type of cable reel, was to put the single waterproof socket end into the confined space of a vehicle’s engine bay. I can then connect a battery charger and close bonnet (hood) on both items. Thus being able to protect the items from the elements and theft. The innovative design allows this, but like all reels is awkward when it comes to reeling in the cable, though the guide is useful. This is made slightly more awkward by the short cable that connects the reel to the mains, this must be tightly wrapped and fixed to the outside of the main reel, before rewinding the extension cable. This quiet often falls off and needs to be re-fixed before continuing winding in (or out). A suggestion for the manufacturer would be to make this short cable section detachable, with a connector at one end that would only plug into the side of the reel and a wall plug at the other end. This short cable could then be unplugged from the reel and the wall plug end could be fitted to the waterproof reel socket, so as to extend the length of cable. It. would then be possible to reel the whole lot in and onto the drum. Would I buy it again? probably yes.
