So nice to have something a bit different to the wooden food or the plastic ‘tins’. Great variety of products in the set and brilliant for imaginative play.

My son really loved this pizza taking mushrooms etc on and off. Very good box for keeping it safe and utensils were strong.

Solid piece which handles well under the use of a toddler. Generous amount of topping pieces to play with. Sturdy plate. Well crafted and fun to play with.

Bought this for my grandson and he adores it. He spends ages putting the pizza toppings on and taking them off. Lovely sturdy wooden toy. Would definitely recommend buying it.

This set is great quality and the pieces can come off to make pizza of choice. The wooden box they come in is useful to store,be good if had a lid. My toddler has a set and just bought these for my nephew for Christmas.

This is one of the favourite Melissa & doug food items I’ve purchased for daughter , as mixture of both wooden velcro food and some fabric leafy greens to create a salad

This is an amazing little pasta set. I love that the fork has velco on so you can pretend to eat the pasta. My LO one loves it and i had a lot of fun testing it out too

Bought for my 2 year old granddaughter who loves the role play in her own little ‘house’ Having previously purchased the M&D birthday cake I was hoping thus would be the same quality….I was not disappointed! Good colours and materials which helps the imagination when ‘feeding’ her guests Definitely recommend this brand, always provides a 5* product.

An amazing set with so many lovely details. I thought it was pricey until i saw the detail of various bits having velcro to be able to chop through and assemble the sushi in dofferent ways and even the chopsticks have velcro to help them.pick up the sushi. Such a cool and clever set. Love it.

This brand has been in my household for years as a mum of four.
    Good quality toys that last.
I was very unlucky this time though as I was missing some items of food and I’d recycled the packaging by that point (and I purchased it as a two part set bundle so both would have had to go back). 1 star deducted for this.

Lovely toy – my 2 and half year old loves declaring the “pizzas ready!” and the tools are great for teaching dexterity with cutting and great for any child who loves playing with food. The wood is so much nicer than plastic. Comes in a nice box for presentation, though would love it if there was a lid for ease of storage and to minimise risk of losing toppings. But overall a really nice toy.

This is the best Melissa and doug food set so far. My daughter absolutely loves it. The set is packed full of stuff. The lettuce comes in little containers and the food can be chopped. Lovely details like being able to pour the dressing on the salad. ( It’s a string that comes out of the top of the bottles!) There is a big salad bowl and a fork with velcro that can pick up the lettuce. I also got it for a great price, under 14. And it’s great quality.

I like the size and material of the item, it is great. But I would have preferred to have more toppings instead of having too much of the given (as all of them don’t fit in the pizza), it would have given the children more to play with it. Also, as others buyers pointed out it would have been nice to have a cover. I like the box where all the items are, but without a cover, there a great chance that they would get lost. (So all goes in a ziplock bag)

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI was a bit apprehensive about ordering this but glad i did. Ive had it for a few days now. Its made from good quality wood and comes with many pizza toppings, a rolling cutting knife, a spatula to lift the pizza and a plate. The box is also of a good quality, made from thick wood. All is painted well and the velcro is strong.

Now for a few pointers- i wish they had a few different toppings such as sweetcorn, olive etc would make it a lot more interesting for my 2 yr old. However i purchased this knowing there were only 3 toppings, just would have been nice for melissa and doug to provide more variety!

Also I wish there was a lid for the box, it kind of looks a little incomplete, hence why i have knocked off a star 🙁

Apart from these pointers I think it is a fun toy, especially if your child likes pizza!

I purchased this with my own money and this is a honest review

4.0 out of 5 stars Really fun!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a well made toy, which will look great in a toy kitchen. The only downside to this product is there are 3 toppings to choose from and many many pieces of the same toppings. I get you can mix and match the pieces or have all of one piece but a little bit more variety will be prefered. This is an adult opinion, the children do not care what pieces there are.

The storage tray is handy to keep all the pieces in, although a lid would help stop mushrooms flying all over the room. The velcro is strong so the ‘toppings’ would not fall off when you take a nice bite of wood.

Overal if your child (or you) want a toy pizza this is a great option for any role play games they have in mind.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI like Melissa and Doug products. I think they are lovely to look at, have a nice feel and definitely pleased that my children have a toy which is crafted and manually lets them play. Good build quality, the velcro that attaches the toppings to the pizza and keeps the pizza slices together is very sturdy. The utensils themselves can be a bit awkward to use, the roller-slicer one is clever but not entirely practical, the toughness of the velcro between the slices means that, when ‘slicing’ a piece, the other side of that slice reattaches itself to the opposing pizza slices velcro. Better to use the hands.
One negative I would point out is that there are too many toppings. You can never fit even 20% of the toppings onto the pizza base provided but, looking at it the other way, if you lose a few pieces, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

This is a really great set, nicely combining felt, wood and plastic to produce a perfect combination of play food and cooking items. The wooden items have no rough edges, which is a perennial gripe of mine about Melissa & Doug products, and look well turned and painted. The plastic is sturdy and good quality. The felt, while rather rough to the touch, is well stitched and nicely coloured.

Pros: a lovely set which encourages imaginative play. all items are well made and this set can be added to others, for example the condiments set, pizza set, coffee brew and serve etc. The box can be used as a cooking surface and sink, though my little one prefers to pretend this so she can set up wherever she wants.

Cons: The pasta boxes we have found a little tough to get into and they make storing this set a little difficult. Nice tough ziplock pasta packets would have been better. They remember the cheese, but where is the pepper? The one in the condiments set is a shaker only. A cool little pepper grinder would have been fun. Why is there only one bowl and fork? the velcro fork in particular is a lovely touch. two of each item would encourage sharing instead of having to use other mismatching items.
Overall a hit with my little girl and we would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

Fantastic quality as usual with melissa and doug toys. I have bought around 12 + of their range and all have the same good quality. I have only one major problem with this and have realised that most of this range has the same silly issue of no box lid !! Really ?? It is so frustrating, all the small parts will never stay in the box and this is quite annoying when my 2 year old wants to take it were ever he goes. We have made a cardboard lid and wrapped elastic bands around it but the small “topping” discs still fall out. I don’t mind paying for quality but think it’s disgusting when such an obvious necessity has been overlooked. The second very minor issue is the fact they have only three different topping to choose from, however their are 18 of each topping, peppers, mushrooms and pepperoni ) (54 discs altogether) Would have rather seen more variety of toppings and less discs per variety. This doesn’t bug me at all though. Overall I would still defiantly recommend the product, well made and really fun to play with .

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersPizza ~ 6 pieces solid wood approx Diameter 17 cm, Depth 2 cm. Slices approx Length 8 cm, Widest part 8 cm. Underside, outer edge and top surfaces painted cream. Top surface transfer of red tomato pure with gaps showing the base cream colour to look like grated cheese. Outer wavy edges of dark brown around the topping. Each slice has three circles of hook side white velcro. Inner cut edges painted dark brown with one circle of white velcro, alternating hook/fluffy sides. The slices are a perfect size for small hands yet not too small for realistic play.

Topping ~ 54 discs either wood or mdf approx Diameter just under 3.5 cm, Depth 4 mm. All surfaces painted cream with a circle of white velcro fluffy side underneath. The toppings are transfers divided into 3 sets of 18: Salami slice, mushroom slice and a slice of red and green pepper together. If the toppings are lined up with the velcro on the slices, they protrude over the cutting edge making slicing difficult. Best to make sure they are pushed together avoiding the cut edges.

Plate ~ Solid perhaps mdf approx Diameter 20.5 cm, Depth 1 cm. Slight raised edge to retain pizza. Painted bright green all over.

Pizza Cutter ~ Handle solid wood, half varnished, half painted red. A wooden pin secures the mdf disc/cutter which rotates with ease. The tapered disc edge aides slicing. Total Length approx 20 cm, disc Diameter approx 7 cm.

Server ~ Solid wood, half varnished, half painted red. Tapered edge to aide serving. Total Length approx 19 cm.

Box ~ Solid wood approx 33 cm x 23 cm, Depth 4 cm. Inner walls and underside plain wood. Outer edges and inner base area transfers of a takeaway pizza design in the same green as the plate and red with a white background. Divided into a main section for the pizza with plate, cutter and server and three smaller areas to store all the toppings.

Everything is well made and built to last. The box serves as pizza delivery and storage, if only it came with a wooden lid to slide on and off with the takeaway design. This would add to both play and storage options.

My little one adores this set and sometimes doesn’t use the topping so turning the pizza into a cake. When cutting the first slice of the complete pizza/cake, it becomes re attached when the second side of the slice is cut. To avoid this, place the server along the first cut edge so when the second side is cut and pushed back together, it doesn’t stick. Although this could be a negative, it has given a lovely problem solving opportunity.

We find this superb hands on fraction, division, addition and subtraction experience through play. We use the toppings for snap, find a pair/go fishing, counting, sets, patterning, rolling the longest, shortest and building towers while eyes are covered. A lovely addition to my daughter’s shop/ caf and takeaway becoming biscuits, sweets, magic coins, magic beans, cake decorations…Sometimes playing complete the pizza game with all the toppings in a bag and the pizza base on the plate; decide which topping to collect and take turns pulling a topping out. If it’s the wrong topping, put it back and the next person has a go. The first one to complete three the same on a slice of pizza keeps that slice. The one with the most slices wins. This really does have many possibilities for learning enjoyment, a topping purchase!
