Love all the “whisky” smelling beard oil and balm and this moustache wax is also excellent.
Very easy to apply and keeps moustache in place all day

This beard wax certainly does the job, easy to use, has really good hold, easy to restyle after it’s on & has a great fragrance, I had struggled to get a good wax for ages & this is one of the best I’ve found.

Great wax with a subtle hint of cedarwood. Buyer be warned though, this is hardcore wax for the most untameable chin manes and not to be trifled with. I only need a smidgen for my little birds nest of a goatee and it does the job. Compared to other waxes I’ve tried, less is definitely more! The required amount soon becomes apparent after a couple of attempts, if you know what I mean…

My husband swears by this product as it has great texture and gold but looks very natural.

First time I have ever brought a moustache wax (no need to previously) so have nothing to really base my review on but it does what I expected and was easier to use than I thought it would be. Couldn’t smell the scent unless I put my nose into the tub, not at all while wearing it, which was disappointing but having poor sinuses I didn’t expect much and don’t think it is the products fault. Will buy again with a different scent and see how that works ou

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI really like the smell and feel of the wax but it is so hard and takes some effort just to get a little out of the tin. All you need is a wick and you have a ready made candle. Also, for any instructions there is a QR code on the back of the tin but this just takes you to a three step option before being able to download them. I. e., you have to place another order online. Uh? Kind of worked it out however, as applying beard wax isn’t exactly a science, or is it?

Found this to be the best wax, I use it every day. Tried Whisky on the rocks fragrance – WOW – first one so far I can smell all day, it’s great!!!!!

The product is very good, the scent is OK… It is my fault as I did not pay more attention on the size but I received a tiny container which will last me very little. See picture, I am used to the size of the bigger container (not this product) and was a bit disappointed when I opened the package and found this little tiny one but as I said, this is my fault as it was clearly advertised as 15ml price-wise, my regular beard wax is cheaper but not as strong as this one so I guess the price is fair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, double check size as not to get disappointed

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe first thing that surprised me was that the tin is really tiny – I missed that in the ad. Secondly it doesn’t hold as well as the blurb would have you believe – regardless of how much you use and how much you rub it between your fingers to make it warm. I think it’s supposed to be used sparingly but that just has zero effect. A bit disappointing therefore, but it’ll get used up in no time as I bought it to deal with my coarse beard as well – which it doesn’t.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAfter trying a few ‘tache wax options I found this. You may have to practice with how much to use, but once you have it sussed it works well. From the cooler temperatures in this country to high 30’s in Egypt. In the pool and sea, still looked good.

Always wonder about so many different beard products, that all seem the same ingrediencies. This I picked, as I wanted something small enough to carry around, this does the job, with a luvly smell.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor me this product did not work . So why 4 stars? Well it does exactly what it says on the description and I liked the sharp citrus smell and it’s really easy to apply but sadly my facial growth did not have enough volume/substance. If you are able to sport a great beard/moustache I would recommend this as a good sculpting product as it certainly shaped and held my sparse whiskers. The fifth star is up to somebody with a viking beard to tell me it’s okay for growth much more prolific than mine.

The instructions are poor. They inform you to use a thumb nail full? I kept increasing the amount each time I used it until I had a suitable amount for my requirements (applied to a a simple moustache). I discovered you need to make it warm enough to virtually melt before applying approximately 4 to 5 minutes of rolling. Once formed into a ball, as per instructions, continue rolling gently until it is warm enough to collapse without any pressure and spread over your thumb and fore finger. It is now ready to be applied. Once on it holds the moustache well.

Good stuff! Just a small tin (about 1 and 1/4″ or 3cm in diam.) but it lasts quite a while for me; I don’t use it everyday; my mustache is fairly wirey but with careful ‘pruning’ of some individual whiskers [that have a mind of their own and go off in a different direction] I can get a good result; had to find an independent YouTube clip for an appropriate way to apply it as there are no directions; use the back of your thumbnail to scrape a small amount from the tin (just how much depends on your whiskers and the style you want), warm it slightly by rubbing between your thumb and forefinger, and apply to whiskers with a slight squeezing and twisting action to spread the wax onto your ‘tache ends and form the shape you want. Smells nicely lemony, and is not overpowering. Twist off metal tin lid makes me confident lid won’t come off in my toiletries bag [or pocket] during travel. Would be nicer if the tin-top label was not plain paper, as the information rubs off easily. I put a piece of clear sticky tape over the lid’s label.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI liked it and it does the job.

Judging from other reviews I have read, a few words of advice may be in order. Several reviewers for this as well as other moustache waxes have complained that the product is too hard and they go through all sorts of gyrations to soften it up. These types of moustache waxes like this product are very hard for a reason, and they are also basically waterproof. The easiest method to soften them up is to scrape a bit out of the tin and rub it between your thumb and finger until it softens up to your liking, then apply it to your moustache, working from the middle outwards. Highly recommend that you go to the manufacturer’s website (TheBeardandtheWonderful.com) and read the instructions and/or watch the video on how to use this product to get the best results and to also understand why this type of product is made the way it is.

As for this specific product, as I said it does the job – well. However, do note that it has a lemon grass scent. I personally love lemon grass anyway, and this particular scent which I find pleasant. However, you will be smelling lemongrass to varying degrees throughout the day depending on how much you have used and where you have used it. After all, it’s going to be right under your nose so you should like or be comfortable with the scent.

Several other commenters have also noted that it’s a relatively small quantity of the product. I have mixed feelings on that myself, but realistically it’s probably appropriate. First of all, a little goes a long way and it lasts a long time. It’s the nature of this type of product for this type of facial hair. Secondly, it’s a really handy size to pack along in a pocket, backpack, or other travel carriers (and limited enough to pass the airport security/TSA restrictions if the want to get picky). Thirdly, based on personal experience where you get mass quantities of a product that is not used in large volumes, they wind up hanging around forever and usually wind up getting binned due to old age, damaged containers, or just generally crapped up. So realistically, this is really a good amount/size for it’s intended application and usage.

About the star rating – I was conflicted between four and five stars but settled on four stars primarily because of the lemon grass scent. If the product was available unscented I would have gone for that, but it’s not. I do like the scent, but can confirm that you will be aware of the lemon grass scent for several hours or more after application if you use a lot of it on your entire moustache like I do. Since it’s right under your nose, literally, that’s what you are going to pick up before any other smells. On the other hand, it’s certainly not strong enough for anyone else to smell though, it’s not that scented! But if you like the scent like I do, it’s certainly OK – just so you know.

Highly recommended, and make sure you check out The Beard and the Wonderful website. They have an extensive range of facial hair products for every type of application and usage – and great instructions and videos on how to use their products and how/why each type of product is made the way it is. And in closing, their products are all first class and made in the UK/USA (Maldon, Essex).

I purchased the wax via the Amazon marketplace on the 04/09/2017 & it arrived within the specified delivery time. It was recommended by a friend who has tried various other wax products but this is his ‘go to’ favourite. All this is new to me & it started when I grew the hair under my bottom lip. I then shaved & shaped it into a thin(ish) wedge & kept up the shaving & shaping for 3 months or so. It is now about half an inch longer then my chin. This is where the wax comes in, I gently comb it apply the wax & twist the bottom of it into a point. The wax holds it most of the day & I find the Orange aroma very pleasant. (NEWS-FLASH my son calls this growth under your bottom lip a Soul Patch) Oh well, here’s me thinking I’ve started a new trend. I’ve never seen anyone with a Soul Patch as long as my growth. It’s obvious the contents of the tin will last 3+ months so that makes for good VFM & it’s effective hence the cinco estrellas.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI really do like this wax. Its got a good firm hold and the Cedarwood smell is really nice.
I initially use a medium hold wax at the beginning of the day (just to use it up), but this one is for keeping in my pocket and topping up the wax throughout the day.

I’m very pleased indeed, and will be back for more when this one runs low as I haven’t found a wax with a better hold so far.

    UPDATE:

I bought the tin of wax in late July I think. Its now the beginning of December and the tin is getting to about 1/4 remaining, I have used this as my preferred ‘pocket’ wax, keeping this small tin in my pocket to “top up” later in the day. Although I have been using one or two other waxes just to try.

I like this wax; its a handy sized tin for not a lot of money in my opinion and I will definitely buy the ‘Cedarwood’ again in preference to The Beard & The Wonderful ‘Whisky On The Rocks’ which for me, smells too sweet. The hold is pretty good though not the strongest I have found.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really do like this wax

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this wax as The Dapper Duke brand is no more and I had to go back out into the wilds to find a replacement.

This wax appealed as it is unscented. There is nothing worse than having a really strong smell under your nose so, as a test-bed, I thought it was the way to go.

I’m not sure that I would agree that this is a strong wax, it’s quite squidgy straight out of the tin and thus isn’t going to do much in the way of holding wayward hairs. In consistency, it is similar to Captain Fawcett’s wax (which I was none too complimentary about). Unlike Fawcett’s wax, it doesn’t have the powerful Cedarwood smell that so put me off. I have long since realised that there is no substance on Earth capable of keeping my ‘tache in order so the fact that it is not super strong is not so much of an issue: I have tried everything from Clubman wax to Got2Be Glued (which is essentially liquid chewing gum) and there are still stray hairs to frustrate me. All I was expecting from this wax was something that would keep the lip-fiend a little more orderly than it is inclined to be. This wax achieves that goal as well as any other I’ve tried. It doesn’t tend to dry out and there are few, if any, flakes so if it’s not the be all and end all in terms of moustache wrangling at least it is consistent and doesn’t leave unsightly bits.

As has been pointed out in other reviews, unscented does not mean odour-free. In short, this wax smells of horse: it’s a combination of musty animal and old saddle leather. I’m not saying that this is a necessarily bad thing, there are worse things that having a huge moustache and smelling faintly like a cowboy. I would also add to this that the smell is only really noticeable when the wax is on your fingers and right under your nose. Once it’s on the moustache it’s quite difficult to detect. I don’t know if others can smell it but, who knows? It could appeal to a certain type of girl.

Overall this is a pretty good moustache wax, especially for the price. It looks like a tin will go quite a long way, and until I figure out how to make my own I will probably stick with it.

This is my second bout of “handlebar” moustache growing as we are now entering a cold winter snap and I have missed it over the summer. So I am on the lookout again for a decent moustache wax. One that holds my moustache twirls in place for a decent amount of time (the warmth of the room and gravity will always have some effect over time) and smells nice. I am happy to say that this wax does the job very nicely.

It is not the largest tin of moustache wax I have (in fact it is amongst the smallest at 15ml) but is also one of the cheapest. It holds my moustache “handlebars” in place adequately at the moment – but they are still not outrageously long so I will update in a few weeks if they start to droop (!) What I love most though is the smell of lemongrass on my moustache – which is very pleasant. Almost as importantly so does my wife – hence although she is slightly put off by the tickly moustache but drawn towards the lemongrass!
