The doctor recommended we used Oilatum for our 4 month old son due to a rash that appeared on his body which had characteristics of eczema. After the first bath using Oilatum, the rash on his body started to improve, however was still very visible. We noticed after his fifth bath that his rash had almost disappeared on his body, arms and legs. The rash had also reduced on his forehead and face, however the bath additive appeared to dry out the skin instead and then caused a very dry and fragile skin that was easily damaged.
After a few months of using this, we now wash his face with only fresh water and the rest of his body using water from the bath. Since doing this, the dry skin has reduced significantly and the rash on the body has almost disappeared.
Great product but can definitely dry out your babies skin depending on their sensitivity
Children were starting to get mild eczema – reduced bathing frequency and used only water or water with this stuff. Skin improved. More of an issue in the winter with dry air.
An everyday, all over moisturiser to protect against general dryness and to smooth rough, dry and flaky patches. I find that when I bathed him in this his skin and moisture level is really good and hence his skin does not dry out easier. It certainly lock-in extra moisture.
Really good for hard water areas such as London.
Only one thing i did not like was the chlorine strong smell.
Does the job exactly as it says I use on my newborn who has eczema, be careful bath is slippery after so you need to clean it after each use.
This product helped our young baby with sensitive and dry skin. We went through quite a few products before coming across Oilatum. Worth trying as it safe to use on young babies. A bit of kind warning – because on the ingredients, baby’s skin becomes slippery (oily feeling), so to those 1st time trying this product – please look after your baby when handling him/her wet after the bath. Otherwise highly recommended!!
Asked the GP what we could do about small amounts of dry skin on our London newborn recommended this without missing a beat. Have since recommended to lots of other families who all agree it’s exactly what they need. We just put half a cap of it into the baby bath every bath. Haven’t had any dry skin since and it’s been over three months.
I was a bit cautious to use it at first as it is not sealed under the lid, I tested it on my own skin before putting it near my daughte
This is brilliant stuff; I has no scent, and it great to delicate new born baby skin. It got rid of our baby’s really dry skin around the feet and ankles within a week or so! As well as drastically reducing her cradle cap which has almost gone too! A really good sensitive, effective product that we swear by.
My son got really bad eczema and this product helps a lot with his baths. I couldn’t find a bigger bottle in any of my pharmacies, so happy that can buy it through amazon.
After seeing some other reviewers concern about receiving an unsealed bottle, I checked two bottles at my local Boots pharmacy and they were they same. There is no hygiene seal so I’m perfectly happy with this product!
We have always used this for my daughter in the bath as she gets very red and sore skin but this works amazingly teamed with zero base to wash and cream her skin definitely recommend
My son has struggled for years with eczema and after countless prescriptions for different creams a nurse recommended this to me. It’s a game changer! Within a week my sons skin had cleared and the eczema has never returned.
This always helps clear up my sons dry skin! Also love to steal for myself when I get the luxury of actually getting a chance to take a bath . Thanks for the super soft skin oilatum!
my daughter has really dry skin from baby shower gels that are too rough on her skin. I did a bit if research and i found out about this bath additive and i must say it’s magic. After one bath ger skin is way better from using this, the lotion and also the shower gel. Just amazing
*Bought this to use for my toddler’s face as she was reacting to her wash
*it’s a thin oil so runs easy. Watch out when you pour from the bottle
*for more effective cleaning, I use this on some gauze to wipe her face.
*Turns white when it comes in contact with water
*It isn’t perfumed.
The only thing I add into my little ones bath as he suffers from really dry skin. But with this and the cream, his skin is beautiful and soft! No dry patch in sight. Definitely recommend for anyone who suffers with dry skin or any other skin conditions.
My son (3 months) suffers terribly with his skin, we have been back and forth to the Dr for different lotions and potions. I was told just to bath him in plain water every other day even that was making his skin sore. Another Dr recommended trying this, I felt very nervous to try something new. This did not flare his skin up and seems to be soothing in his bath when his skin was particularly bad. A little goes a long way. I use just 1 cap in his bath.
Bought this as my 3 month old has dry skin especially on his face. Was expecting to see results after a week or 2 but after just 1 bath it has made a difference. His skin feels softer and with daily emollient cream as well his face is much better. Worth the money especially the bigger bottle.
Packaging-
Well packed. No issues.
Function-
Used for eczema and dry skin in babies. Gave good results. Took about 5-6 days for the results to start but there is no looking back after that.
Price-
Reasonably priced compared to other similar products.
Final words-
Works well. Well priced, look out for deals which come up from time to time.
Couldn’t live without this stuff. Does wonders to keep my son’s skin healthy and I can tell the difference if we don’t use it for a few days. Only drawback is that after going back to using it after a period of being out of stock, the milky colour it turns the bath water really freaked my son out for a minute or two!!
I use it daily for my baby’s bath (2 capfuls of liquid per bath).
He has got very sensitive skin and suffers from bad eczema outbreaks but Oilatum seems to keep it under control.
It didn’t manage to clear his eczema completely but is not making it worse and inflamed like other bath emollients did.
The formula has no scent and leaves my baby’s skin nice, moisture and soft.
Eczema is a bit tricky condition and different things work for different people but heard Oilatum is highly recommended by health visitors and parents in our local Childrens centre.
