Using filtered water and nothing else, I grew and enjoyed delicious broccoli sprouts.

Do far so good
I’ve only just received the seeds and just down them. Do I can’t honestly say how they grow or there taste.
The quality seems to be there and value for money seems to be there.
Excellent product … easy to grow, three days and you have sprouts, leave longer to form into full vegetables.
Excellent quality seeds & advice.
These seeds are so much more viable than previous broccoli seeds I’ve sprouted. I’m also really chuffed with the advice given by Verdant on the packet and the quantity of seeds supplied. I’m fact I’ve just bought some pea seeds from them, and look forward to trying those too.
I put two tablespoons of seeds in a wide fermenting jar, soak for 12 hours and rinse thoroughly once a day. As another reviewer said, I think the secret is not to let them sit in any water. I don’t bother with any cover but use a nylon sieve to drain them each day. It is then much easier to spread the seeds out more evenly and to drain them properly.
I cover with the jar completely with a tea towel, as instructed, and then put it uncovered on the window sill on day 5 to get some sunlight., after which they are then ready to eat. I store them in the fridge and eat them over the next few days. This has worked brilliantly every time.
These seeds are not cheap but obviously much cheaper than if you bought ready grown sprouts from a shop.
I’ve sprouted seeds for a long while but not broccoli before, & was mindful of some reports of attempts having failed. But I was careful to rinse them only once each day & to shake out all of the water, & to keep the sprouts covered, & voil, after 4 days have a jar-full of well-sprouted, healthy looking sprouts from only one tablespoon of seeds! Very pleased. (It’s worth noting for some who perhaps aren’t aware: these are the, optimal, Calabrese seeds & not the raab seeds some other vendors are selling, the raab seeds are also broccoli seeds but have significantly less nutritional value.) The seeds were also sent out promptly & are in a resealable pouch. So, very pleased with my purchase.
If you are new to broccoli sprouts, there are two main things that you need to know.
1) They grow root hairs. The visual effect of this can be very similar to fungal mold, so before you bin them and complain, examine a few under a strong magnifying glass. You should find that the base of the shoot looks like a bottle brush with white filaments. The “fungal” look is probably just the accumulative effect of these hairs, so be certain before you assume it to be degradation. The hairs will mostly vanish with rinsing because they flatten to the stem.
2) They don’t tolerate super-high temperatures. A warm spot is fine, ideal even, but if you stick them in a hot airing cupboard or stand them on a heater without spacers, they may stop growing and get smelly. However, the warmer they are, the faster they grow, so it is all trial and error. You may need to waste a few finding the perfect temperature.
Oh, and they need rinsing twice a day, morning and night. This is fairly essential. If you skip the evening rinse, there is a good chance that the root hairs will overgrow and knit together into a mat. You’ll never separate them. And the sprouts will become fibrous and chewy. Plus, they may develop bacteria. But, besides that, they are relatively easy to grow.
Best of luck.
The seeds are very well packaged and quick delivery
The quality of the seeds comes with a lovely recipe card and a lovely surprise I won’t say what the surprise is you will have to buy the product which I will purchase again and tell my friends.
I bought these to get more sulforaphane into the diet.
Sprouting with a Being Fare sprouter.
After soaking a tablespoon of seeds overnight I spread on the sprouting tray and cover with a tea towel until leaves are formed, rinsing rinse twice daily.
Photos are days 2,3 & 4,
The third photo shows sprouts ready to get some light, to green then up.
Most of the seeds seem to sprout.
No problems with mould this way either.
I have contacted soil association, and can confirm the seeds are certified. I haven’t grown them yet, so cannot comment on the quality
But packaging looks and feels quality
Very good
Im new to growing broccoli sprouts but very easy. I waste alot of seeds because they dont sprout but that may be my technique.. putting too many seeds in jar maybe.
Eating them at least 5 times a week as had a biopsy on a suspicious lump on my right thyroid, these sprouts are supposed to halt if not cure cancer so asked my consultant to give me 2 months to see if it works, that 2 months is up on Thursday as have a 2and biopsy and hoping upon hope that we will see an improvement. Worth every penny as seen a reduction in my blood pressure too .
I have bought it for the health benefits it has.
I have to look for instructions in YouTube to know how to use it.
Use it on the top of my salad I just snacks as well.
It has a lot of health benefits.
I have just started to use it so I can’t tell the difference ye
Real brocolli seeds
I bought this brand because they are actually brocolli calabrese which i want for the sulforaphane not brocolli raab which is a type of turnip, a lot of brands don’t state or say raab type .
A TOTAL WINNER
I could not recommend this product more highly. Probably 98%+ germination, excellently mild taste (although becomes slightly peppery after freezing if you wish to amplify the desired sulforaphane as suggested by Jed and Rhonda). A total winner.
I bought these for the additional benefits of eating broccoli sprouts. The photo shows sprouts from 2 small tablespoons of seeds. Not all seeds sprouted but got a fair crop. They do smell a bit ‘off’ in the sprouting tray despite a good washing with clean water. Relatively pleased with the results despite the smell.
High germinating seeds absolutely happy with them. Broccoli is THE sprout to have and it has to be brassica oleracea or broccoli Calabrese. I found on Google that broccoli sprouts have a high level of glucoraphanin which is converted into sulforaphane in our body, which protects our cells against inflammation and a wide variety of diseases.
The methods that work best for me are 1) Glass jar has to be sterilised everytime; 2) Soak the seeds for 12 hours (longer than the instruction); 3) Rinse and drain the seeds/sprouts once a day, instead of twice a day. The key is just to get the seeds just moist, not drowning wet. Cover the jar with tea towel the whole time. 4) 5th day leave the jar out to photosynthesis for a few hours. 5) Refrigerate sprouts in same jar.
Follow the instructions and all is well, i found it best if you can put them in a dark cupboard or draw rather than a towel over them. And do remove most of the water that seems key. Good luck
Just what I was looking for! Good yield. Positive review. I sprout mine in a sprouting jar, tilted upside down and rotated to drain any water. I rinse and drain every 8-12 hours, and find that they sprout better when they’re covered with a teatowel or cloth overnight through the cooler months. I sprinkle the sprouts ontop of salads or add them to veggie juices… highly nutritious goodness!
Excellent seeds for broccoli sprouts, growing these regularly for the anti oxidant/anti cancer chemical Sulforaphane, these apparently have the most of it than any other food on the planet! On my 6th growth in a Mason jar.
Amazing! Highly recommend this product. I also got a sample for the China rose radish and it was absolutely delish so I will be ordering that one too next time.
