    Clean shave
I like the fact that it is so quiet compared to my previous shaver. I like that it shaves very close. It is good in all aspects. When you first switch it on you think that there isn’t much charge but there is ample as the lights show. All in all a very good clean shaver and would recommend this shaver.

    Great shave!
Having owned previous Philips shavers, this one definitely had the closest and best shave without any cuts/irritation. Battery charge is quick and lasts a good week with a standard one-a-day shave.

    Does the job
Bigger more flexible head compared to my previous Philisave shavers. I have dark stubble and it does the job. Gives a smooth comfortable shave. Disappointed that they don’t supply a pouch or case for it.

    Fantastic shave
I have previously had electric shavers but found them to give a very unsatisfactory shave so have had to use a traditional razor with shaving foam.
However, this shaver is superb and gives a great dry shave in less than one minute.

    Rotory magic
For me Philips rotory razors are the best, I have tried most of the other leading makes and none come close imo. Good charge life and easy clean. Can use wet.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersQuick close shave
    This is a great shaver.
Have always found Phillips to be the best electric shavers, and this one is better than previous ones I’ve had.
My shaving is mixed. I’m a mature guy with a tough beard. I sometimes use well known (beginning with a “G”) multi blade razors, but really like to use a double edged proper razor blade for a satisfying close shave. But for many years now I have also used a rotary head electric shaver for speed if I feel lazy.
However rotary shavers don’t cut very close. But this one does, and it does it very well.
It’s quick to charge easy to hold and shaves very close-very quickly. I’m very impressed indeed.
If you’re looking to buy or replace an existing shaver I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with this.
    It’s very, very good.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersVery good for full body shave every day
Im a trans woman I currently am not on hormones so I have to shave everything every day and I’m honestly surprised at how well it’s held up and how well I’ve held up I have very sensitive skin and if I shaved my legs it was itchy he’ll but not here the only 2 points of caution is if you drop it and the spiny heads come off there a bit of a pain to put back in and if you have any of that very soft scar tissue or big ripply stretch marks then don’t shave it as it will catch but apart from that it good the battery hasn’t been an issue I think I get a week maybe a week and a half oh and charge it at night because it’s slow as hell. Hope this helps as I know it’s a nightmare looking for a shaver as a trans girl. Lots of love and kisses bea.

    Gentle and Effective
It is so far so good. Gentler than my Philips Series 3000 Dry and very effective with a wet shave. The cleaning station (separate purchase) is a nice way to keep it clean and lubricated. It’s a cool package (the pouch looks cool and well made), with my only complain being the lack of a cover for the shaver heads (available for purchase separately). One thing I don’t like about it is that most of the ‘back’ of the handle, where the pop-up trimmer is, is covered in specifications text, which destroys the aesthetics a bit. Very cool and functional design as I’ve come to expect from Philips, though.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersTook me a bit of practice to use (read the instructions!) to use effectively…
having said that I must clarify that I don’t use this razor on myself. Having struggled with disposables to shave my husband who is ill with dementia I discovered this Phillips set on Amazon daily deals. It came with a charger stand and a case for just the shaver, but a USB instead of a plug. I am sharing the plug I bought for my ear pods, but it does charge quite quickly and holds its charge well so far.
The shaver is easy to clean either with the little brush provided or rinsing under the tap. Our son used the new shaver once and declared it an improvement on his current Phillips shaver that he has had for some time. This shaver has certainly made my life easier and I am satisfied with the price I paid.

a good price for a good device
I bought this Philips Shaver Series 5000 for my husband because the one he had for almost a year just broke. You can really see the difference compared to the old one because it no longer squeaks and it is simply smoother than when he used the other old one. It is compact, we always take it with us on vacations. rinse it under the water jet and it is like new.

It’s weird that when fully charged it sounds like it’s about to die of low battery how slow it goes but it gave a near perfect shave. Best electric shaver I’ve ever used. Although bc it’s not very fast the added trimmer isn’t very good or at least it wouldn’t cut my longer stubble very well . Overall tho bc such a good shave it’s 4/5!

    Outstanding performance
This Philips electric shaver is suitable for both wet and dry shaving, and is exceptionally easy to use. The precision heads really do adapt to the density of the hair or stubble being shaved, and ensure a close and thorough shave. The precision trimmer is ideal for tidying sideburns.

The shaver is gentle on the skin and does not require a great deal of experience or expertise on the part of the user. My teenage son has used the shaver and, despite still becoming accustomed to shaving and hence regularly suffering nicks and cuts, he has not cut his skin once with this shaver.

The hard carry case is protective and sufficiently compact for travelling with. The shaver charges relatively quickly. All in all, this is an excellent product and well worth the money.

A really close shave from an electric shaver!
I got this Philips shaver for my husband and he said it is the closest shave he has ever experienced from an electric foil shaver! The multiple blades mean it covers a large area really quickly and effortlessly.

The flexible 360 head contours to the face and neck really easily. The shave is gentle even on more sensitive neck areas. It has only been trialled on a dry shave so far but it is also waterproof and will wet shave also.

The shaver does need the facial hair to be fairly short and beard-length hair will need to be trimmed down first before shaving.

The product quality seems very good, as you’d expect from a well-known brand. Charging is easy on the charging dock and lasts well. The head is easily cleaned and cleared of debris with a latch to release the head.

Quality comes at a cost but money well spent in my opinion.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorking well and very happy so fa
While this doesn’t blow away my old 30 shaver (which I dropped and it and broke very easily), it feels a lot more substantial and does a good job on a daily basis. Gets into the nooks and crannies, but I have to use a normal razor to get a sharp line on my sideburns – the flip out trimmer is not much use so one star dropped for that. Happy with it though and it’s really easy to clean compared to my old cheapo razor.

    Excellent shaver!
The Philips Series 5000 is a pleasure to use both wet and dry. The heads are flexible and follow the contours of my face, giving me a comfortable, clean shave that takes noticeably less time than my previous electric shaver.
I like the ease of cleaning too. Press a switch, and the shaver opens up for rinsing under the tap. It charges via usb, and the charge should hold for the best part of an hour. This electric shaver is an investment worth making, in my opinion, as it gets daily use and makes a breeze out of an otherwise irritating chore.

Good for everyday at home clean shaves
A good shaver/ razor if you’re after a full clean shave, this electric razor does a good job of trimming chin hair and and adapts well to the contours of my husbands face. If you’re after precision/styling then this isn’t the right tool for you. The width of the shaving heads in this mean it has quite a big surface area, so will do a clean shave in minutes.
In the box is a handy charging stand, and a usb charging cable – a pretty good option for keeping this fully charged and out of reach of toddlers – the drawback being is a bit of a dust trap and needs frequent cleaning to remove traces of my husbands blonde hair. The charge holds well, and is plenty for a couple of shaves, although with the charging stand its battery levels never hit low.
Overall excellent quality akin to what you expect from Phillips products.

    A good shave
I regret to announce that my original Wall-E, after much good service, is now at the barbers in the sky. So named for a personality reminiscent of the garbage eating robot of the Pixar film –a high tech but friendly piece of kit. His grandson Wall-E the 3rd has now taken his place of honour. The original incarnation of this shaver on its stand reminded me so much of the film that I nicknamed him Wall-E and if a shaver can have a personality, he was very friendly. His grandson is equally amenable.

I remain unconvinced that electric razors can ever achieve the results of a conventional blade and still use a manual razor to finish off but I now let the electric razor do the hard work and it pretty much eliminates the skin rash that can be caused by heavy handed manual shaving or the discomfort if I have been in Robinson Crusoe mode for a few days.

By now I have every cylinder razor out there but although for some they must do the trick, for me the rotary head structure is far more effective. The advantage of the original Wall-E was that he tilted on three axes, which enabled him to follow facial contours and shave smoothly without forcing my face to conform with the razor. I know the cylinder models do tilt but, in my experience, nothing like rotaries.

I seem to recall that a couple of years after Wall-E Phillips issued a model that looked almost the same but didn’t tilt as much. It was noticeably clunkier to use and I always reverted to Wall-E. However, we all get older and gradually Wall-E showed signs that his ticker no longer had the vigour of his youth. Charging eventually went down to a maximum of less than 20 minutes rather than 60 and this was quickly dissipated. Shortly before, to give him his correct name, the Philips Series 5000 S5584/35 arrived, Wall-E struggled to hold sufficient charge for a single use. Good service, loyal retainer but I had to bid you adieu.

Realistically, this is probably a multiple generation model on from my original and whilst, just like the adverts for cars, I can be beguiled by the blurb, in essence this presents as a more energetic, athletic and flexible version of the original. It flexes to fit the contours of your face extremely well, enabling a shave that is getting closer to that wet shave finish that I desire, an improved grip and is generally more supple. A 60 minute charge will give up to 60 minutes runtime. There’s a pop-up trimmer in the handle as well.

Can’t fault the product. Feel slightly disloyal to Wall-E the 1st but at least I am employing one of the descendants.

    You can rely on Philips
I have struggled for years when shaving to get the finish I desire so decided to go up market and get a Philips Shaver Series 5000. I just wished I had got one years ago. The 45 self-sharpening SteelPrecision blades are incredible and state that they can cut more beard hair per stroke with up to 90,000 cutting actions per minute. Not sure about the accuracy of the figures but I am so pleased with the results.

It is easy to use and makes shaving effortless, the Power Adapt sensor reads hair density 250 times per second, automatically adapting cutting power for a gentle shave. The heads are fully flexible and turn 360 to follow your facial contours and provide optimal skin contact for a thorough and comfortable shave. Additionally, the shaver comes with an integrated pop-up trimmer, charging stand, and a travel case.

Overall, the Philips Shaver Series 5000 is an excellent piece of kit and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, thorough and precise shaving experience.

I thought at just over a hundred quid was a lot to spend on an electric razor but so glad I did. Cheaper razors can give you a rash and leave stubble but this one is amazing and gives you a clean shave and baby soft skin after.
I would have given it 5 stars if it came with a UK 2 pin to 3 pin plug but I had to buy this separately and was less than a fiver.
What are you waiting for, stop thinking it’s too much money and buy one!! You won’t be disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersBest shaver I have ever owned, shame it doesn't charge on my shaver sockets...
I ordered two of those because the first one would not charge… so I thought. As I plugged my new shaver in my shaver socket, the led lights on the shaver continuously alternated between one orange bar and all leds lit in white. There was no mention about what this meant in the shaver manual or online (of course!). I persisted and tried charging it for several hours but clearly it was not charging. In the end I thought it was defective so I returned it and ordered a replacement. The replacement arrived and same problem. Surely this was no coincidence. Although my old Philips electric charged fine on my shaver socket I thought I would try another shaver socket and same problem. In the end I got a European adapter, tried charging the new shaver on a regular 13A power socket and bingo: this time it charged fine.

Long story short my shaver sockets which work fine for our family electric toothbrushes and my old Philips shaver appear not to be powerful enough to charge this new shaver. I wished they had mentioned this potential issue in the manual which is just a bunch of pictograms with no text (Philips, we can read you know!?). It might charge fine on other shaver sockets; but it certainly was not having any of it on the two shaver sockets I tried.

This being said this shaver shaves so amazingly well and so quickly compared to my old Philips shaver that I am happy to overlook the fact that I will need to charge it on a normal electric socket with an adaptor. Another slight gripe is the fact that the shaver will not run whilst it is charging. Not a big issue at the moment as a 5 min charge is enough to shave; but it will become an issue down the line when the battery gets old and no longer keeps its charge. As the battery cannot be changed, it will then be time to upgrade I guess.

All in all 4 stars out of 5 for an excellent well priced shaver with a few caveats.
