The chimney sweep said we burnt wet wood last year and was damaging the chimney but didn’t realise as they were stacked for 1 year. This meter is spot on so won’t make the same mistake this year.
I bought this because I wanted to know if our house had any damp issues before putting it on the market. I was very pleased with this machine, easy to use and I tested all the walls and was able to locate just one tiny area that was just over the minimum reading that needs attention (came up as a 7), so I can stop worrying if I have a problem and fix it.

eally like this little gadget! its effective, seems accurate (not entirely sure how youd ever test this in reality unless you had two side by side) and its easy to use!
i use it for testing bow staves as they season and its only let down so far is that occasionally it will fail to read; so i test my skin, get a reading and then it kicks back into life and will read the wood properly. hardly a game breaker but its an issue that is there.

Nice little compact meter fits into your pocket. Easy to use & read. I’ve used it for checking caravans & motorhomes for damp.
Only downside, batteries supplied were flat. Shame really

Easy to use. Can’t comment on accuracy as I have nothing to compare it to. It did confirm what I thought about some supposedly kiln-dried logs being too wet, but I am waiting for the seller to come and test the wood with their “professional” meter.

Great wee meter. Good for building surveys and for checking MC of wood for the stove.
I have been cutting my own logs for my log burner for a couple of years now but was never really sure if it was dry enough to burn. Kiln dried logs that you buy are always less than 20% moisture content. You shouldn’t burn wood that is higher than 20% in most domestic log burners. With this device, you can instantly check if the wood you have cut is sufficiently “seasoned” (below 20%). It’s brilliant, easy and accurate and even comes in a nice little cloth bag. I don’t know how I managed without one. Highly recommended!
