If you have a ps5 and have the money, BUY IT!

Psvr2 is by far the best entry into high end vr if you have a PS5.

I am so enthused about the capabilities of VR after experiencing this headset. It is truly a technological marvel and has already given me so much enjoyment.

The headset is practically plug and play which gives it a huge advantage against PCVR and the package of a PS5/PSVR2 is comparatively inexpensive when factoring in the quality of the experiences.

When I compared the Psvr2 to the Quest 2 I initially thought it seemed expensive, however, after seeing the gameplay differences it is clear the Quest 2 and the upcoming Quest 3 are simply a different type and altogether inferior headsets. The quest 2 & 3 run on mobile architecture and cannot compete in terms of image quality. In simple numbers the PS5 produces 10 teraflops v.s. Quest-2 1teraflops Vs Quest-3 3teraflops (estimated). It’s no competition when it comes to power.

Furthermore the fact the quest 3 will not have foveated rendering, in my opinion, makes the headset far less of an attractive option.

It is apparent that foveated rendering is the single biggest contributor to the ability of Psvr2 to go toe to toe with PCVR. The technology is truly groundbreaking and works seamlessly.

Reasons not to get the headset:
    – The only tricky part I found was finding the sweet spot on the headset but after the first few uses it takes only a few seconds.
    – It’s wired. This does not actually bother me, but it is obviously a negative for some people and frankly necessary if you want high end VR;
    – Limited first party games from Sony to date only Synapse, Horizon Call of the Mountain and Grand Turismo 7 so far. That being said the headset is new and to be frank I have not had the chance to play half the games I’ve purchased yet. I suspect big announcements will be made by Sony as Quest 3 comes onto the market, but I’m just guessing! Sony have also said there are over 100 games in development for the headset so I’m not overly concerned and think this will get new releases for the next 4 years at least.

Really like this product it is lightweight, 4K, OLED, HDR, Foveated rendering and eye tracking. Just setting this thing up blows your mind away. Recommend Call of the Mountain, Walk About Mini Golf, Red Matter 2 to play.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUpgraded from last generation playstation headset, this one is much better. Setup is super easy. Everything appears very clear, controls very intuitive in on most games, Resident Evil Village, Synth Riders and Pavlov have to be the best gaming experiences I have had.

The premium games really show off a huge leap in quality over psvr1 and quest2. Gt7 is worth it alone, but the recently released red matter 2 looks incredible. Resident evil village is also a must play.
Get a charging dock for the controllers and build up some time on how the headset feels and which position feels best.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI bought a VR2 headset after watching mixed reviews..
It is amazing.. but be aware before you expect too much..

    The negatives.
Not all people can use 3D without getting sick. If you suffer from motion sickness, or 3D films made you feel queezy, then it may not be for you.
It doesn’t affect me at all, but my wife gets a headache and sickness within minutes.

The resolution is good.. BUT.. it has a very small sweet spot of what is in focus, I.e. tge centre of view. Though it has eye tracking, peripheral vision can be blurry.. you need to get used to looking (via head movement) at what you want to see in detail.

    The positives..
    Just WOW!.
I can never play a non VR game again, they are just flat and lifeless in comparison.
Set up is easy with on screen instructions.
Picture is clear enough, but won’t be anywhere near as sharp as your 4K tv.. BUT.. it’s true 3D.. the feeling of realism and depth far outweighs the lack of clarity. It’s like saying a cinema screen isn’t as sharp as your smaller 4K tv.. Maybe it isn’t, but it’s a better experience.
GT7 for example, you are literally inside the car, the steering wheel and instruments look like they are really there. Better detail than on tv due to the 3D depth and 1:1 size. It’s so realistic, look at the wheel, that’s sharp and distance is blurry, look at the distance, the dash is blurry (out of focus).. it literally behaves like viewing things in the real world. It’s literally a game changer. I smashed all my records immediately using Vr as you can gauge distance from walls, look left and right to see into corners etc.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFirst the price. Is it too dear?? Some say yes others no. Me I say a big fat NO. Here is why. When the PSVR1 came out you had to buy the camera and move controllers. 50 for the camera and wait for it 120plus for the move controllers. So total price at launch for thePSVR1 nearly 600.
I also have the Quest 2 price 400 then buy a better strap cooling fan and battery pack again nearly 600. This is 529 4k lens yes it’s wired but you don’t notice it , great controllers built in fan (even on Creed the lenses did not fog up). Its comfortable and has a great pass through. The games yes slow at first but now they are coming in thick and fast. RE village looks amazing , pistol whip fast m,frantic and sharp, Walking Dead amazing graphics and if you have GT7 buy a wheel and pedal set it is the best experience I have ever had with a racing game.
So long story short get one you won’t regret.Oh I would buy a charger and hard case, yes a bit more to spend but to keep you’re prized possession safe its worth i

Didn’t purchase from amazon had preordered the horizon call of the mountain bundle back in December 2022 from Sony direct as was the only pre order option available.
Owning the original PSVR, also a quest 2 and a high end pc that is capable of running max settings on PCVR I can say this is currently the best option available in the VR market currently especiallywhen price to performance is considered you are talking a 2k PC and a upwards of 1k headset in the PCVR space. Performance and comfort are way up there, the OLED screens are outstanding.

If you are interested in high end VR and already own a ps5 and willing to invest this kind of money it is a no brainer!

Battery life on the controllers isn’t the best at 2-4 hours depending on use/game i would say a controller dock is an essential accessory such as the one pictured which is the collective minds showcase stand.

Over all extremely happy, Welcome to next Gen!

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersI have been tempted by VR for some years now. Years ago I looked into it for the OC but was put off by the specs needed to run the games and latterly lost a little interest due to the lack of AAA titles. I was tempted by the PS4 PSVR but never got around to getting a PS4 and once again the interest waned.
After a VR day with friends, my interest was reignited. The whole experience was fantastic but the graphics on the VR day were a little disappointing and I was excited to see virtual 4K gaming via the PSVR2.
First and foremost, the whole set up is straightforward. Having never dabbled in Meta Quest etc, I was a little apprehensive, and the box lay unopen for a couple of days as I convinced myself I’d need a full day to familiarise myself with the equipment. I needn’t have worried.
There’s not much in the box. The headset itself and the two lightweight controllers, plus a USB C cable to charge the controllers, one at a time. There’s also earphones and 3 pairs of sizes to fit all earholes. The one thing to note is the controllers came uncharged, and needed charging before setup could proceed. So if you’re planning on getting this as a gift for someone who is impatient, bare this in mind.
Once charged, set up was a doddle. Each stage from putting the headset on, to mapping to your eyes and mapping out your room is done with short animations. The buttons on your headset are shown in front of you if you’re worried where to press on your head, and then you’re away.
One thing you may have read about is the “sweet spot” of the headset. Unlike my virtual reality day, the tilt of the headset is critical as even a degree or two up or down will result in a slightly blurred image. At first I thought this was the resolution, but it’s simply fixed by tilting up or down and then tightening the headset.
I’ve got Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge and Gran Turismo and I’m blown away. The visual fidelity is unreal and I will review those games separately. It’s hard to believe you have 360 degree reality around you with a home set up. Of course the whole hardware costs are 1000 so you need to ask yourself how much into gaming you are.
For me as a casual gamer I have no regrets. So far i’m asking myself whether to invest another 200 into a steering wheel and pedals, and this is from someone who has previously had no interest in driving games. So far the catalogue is pretty sparse, to my mind. I’m looking forward to The Walking Dead and the VR version of Resident Evil 4, which alone may make it all worthwhile.
As a virgin at all this, I’m very impressed so far and I think a steering wheel and Gran Turismo alone would make me feel like a I have full simulator at home.
