Great tool. You can’t find this style hummer in common stores, but it’s really handy to have one.

I have been looking for a hammer for my craft/sewing room for a while now; one for myself and not sharing my husband ball pein hammer!

I used my husbands hammer to help me decide the weight I needed; his hammer was just under two pounds and I thought I would need only half this weight for my purposes; I mainly needed one for my shaped hole cutters which are placed onto leather/faux leather and need to be hammered to cut the shaped hole.

If anyone could be excited over a hammer — I can certainly say I was thoroughly delighted with it! From the images and description by the seller, it is spot on! Aesthetically beautiful — for a hammer and with the rubberised handle it allows a good grip.

The main reason I wanted this particular hammer is the flat head — perfect for positioning and hitting the object straight on, lessening the chance of catching the shaped cutters awkwardly. The weight of the hammer is absolutely perfect too.

I am extremely happy with my choice and can thoroughly recommend it. My husband having seen my hammer loved it too — he won’t be using this one for sure

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Hammer Ever - Truly wonderful! Flat head is perfect.

As a mechanical engineer – at least by profession being an ex-marine Chief Engineer – I have come from a lifestyle where hammers are an absolute essential. It’s amazing just how much work on a ship involves hitting things with hammers in order to fix it…. And these range from sledge hammers to the small tool makers hammers.

But, the 2lb ball peen hammer is the most used. It’s the go to hitting implement used on all things immovable and plenty of tools such as ring spanners that should not be. However, in the middle of the ocean you will do what’s necessary..

Which brings me to this delightful hand tool. It’s called a machinists hammer and is in fact a version of the ball peen type being a Euro-style cross peen ideal for general overhaul use. Not too heavy to be unwieldy but has enough weight to be useful.

The balance in hand is perfect and I could use this all day – which I have done at times on ships when needs must.

The handle is a fibreglass reinforced type that is easy to hold and is light, leaving the mass at the top for hitting with.

The design of the hammer is to my traditional eyes fantastic. Well made and perfect to hold.

There is one small thing that I do note. In my experience at the extreme end of mechanical engineering where the massive and very oily ships engines lie, after a while the man made handles on tools tend to get impregnated with oils and solvents and can be harder to hold than old fashioned wooden handles. So, in order to avoid this problem make sure that after use if you have got a fibreglass handled tool covered in heavy oil, clean it off properly before putting it away.

What else? Well this is a German brand but made in China. That’s why the price is bearable I guess. The quality is not an issue however as I read that Presch ensure that their tools are made to their specs and then inspected at their warehouse/design place in Germany before selling.

Overall, a superb middle weight hammer for general fitting and turning work.

Top quality hammer , well built , comfortable grip.
Really impressed with this purchase , as a tradesman I love tools ! And certainly tools that are comfortable to use.
You won’t go wrong with this hammer , I chose the 500g for clipping cables into chases and general light trade use.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirstly the quality of this hammer is top class, the handle has a rubberized finish which feels really comfy whilst holding, the head is really well finished and is TUV/GS Approved DIN 1041 the only downside is it looks so good i don’t want to use it lol.
I also bought the 300g and it too is as well made as it’s 500g bigger brother, i am planning to use the 300g for my camping/bushcrafting for hammering in tent pegs etc.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNice well made hammer for precision work (I’m using it for flattening harmonica reed rivets (with a steel drift). I might have liked a slightly shorter handle, as accuracy is important, time will tell if I master it OK. A small niggle, there are sticky marks left after removing a couple of labels attached to the tool. Overall I’m happy this is the right, quality, tool for the job.

Great hammer with a good feel. I wanted something more manly than a rubber mallet when banging in tent pegs on hard ground. They’re either to light or to heavy this is in between and just right. I have now purchased 2 off these and given one to the daughter and son in law for their camping trips. I have arthritis in my hands and the grip is comfortable.
