This is great and worth the money. I have it on my ps1 and running on my MSi ultra wide monitor and the image quality is great. Save yourself time and just buy this!

This product got me scratching my head a bit. Plug and play…ok…nope, not working. let’s read the instructions…plug and play..uh huh. well, as long as you know the “small” cable that comes with the unit that plugs into a usb is to power the product then you should be fine. For the length of the cable though I have no idea how they expect people to power it when a ps1 has no usb (and yes I know it also works on a Ps2). I have a battery bank thankfully and it works fine to power this product (it lights up green so you know it’s on).

The pro: it does what it says and it improves the picture quality so thumbs up.
The cons: 1) it needs a longer “power” cable and clearer instructions in the box
    2) it gets VERY warm very fast so make sure it’s on a non burn yourself surface.

All in all it works fine and it’s a 3/5 product only because of the heat in use and the power requirement to run it. If you want better picture quality on a PS1 or PS2 then buy this product 🙂

Great picture quality and sound. Everything transferred over well. It’s a joy to be able to play older games on a newer TV. You may have to mess with the picture settings on your TV to get the look you want, as some games can be quite dark and difficult to see. Well worth the money though.

Easy to use, just plug and play. And yes, this will allow PS1 games to be played via a PS2 console. (Video proof uploaded) Played a few hours of a PS2 game and a PS1 game with no issues, no crashes or graphical/sound bugs.

The only thing it does not do natively, is alow you to change the aspect ratio. It is always 16:9, with no option to switch to 4:3. This isn’t a problem for me; as on my TV (55″ Samsung smart TV from 2019) you can change the aspect ratio of an input and save it. So for me, 5* product. But if you don’t have that option, you’re stuck with 16:9, hence why I give it 4* generally.

Other than that one gripe, it’s perfect.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFantastic item, used it with my original PlayStation. On my 50inch 4k tv its night and day improvement over composite. Better colour and sharpness. Highly recommended to improve original PS picture quality on a bigger 4k tv. It looks how I remember as a kid now.

Being a retro console modding hobbyist, I bought this for my PS1. Works amazingly. I originally used a composite cable into a cheap composite to HDMI converter. It works, but the quality suffers, as well as a noticeable amount of input lag.

However, using this item made the picture quality unmistakably better. It outputs either RGB video or yPbPrPb at the flick of a switch, offering the best video possibly depending on which console you want to use it with. No more overbright white tones, smoother on the jagged edges, no noticeable input lag, and of course the simplicity of its plug and play functionality. It does needs USB power, but that is no problem these days.

No cons as of yet. It works exactly how I wanted.

After reading reviews I decided to opt for this one. Easy to set up and I can see an improvement with the picture quality on my fairly old Hd tv.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this after wasting money on cheap (less than a tenner) alternatives which either gave a reduced, shaky picture or didn’t work at all. I was loathed to spend three or four times that on an adapter but I’m really glad I did. The only one that I’ve found that enables you to manually switch from RGB on the unit itself so that you don’t have to faff around in your PS2 settings, it also has enough cable that you can keep it out of the way and don’t end up bending the connection into the PS2 like on the ‘dongle’ types (trust me, I’ve been there).

Those of you looking for upscaling will have to spend waaay more than this to get a 720 or 1080 output, but I’m really not convinced I’d bother even if money were no object. The picture this produces looks brilliant even on a 55″ 4K TV and the whole point of it is that it doesn’t look like the overly polished games of today’s generation of consoles.

So, is it worth the extra outlay from the cheaper alternatives? Definitely – if you’re looking to revive your PS2 this is the best you can buy.

The only reason I don’t award 5stars is the fact it can’t upscale your PS1 games. That aside this is such an improvement from the Scart lead option, it makes you want to play all your old games just to see the improved picture quality.

I think some games will benefit more than others but for 30 this is an awesome product that I highly recommend, well done Kaico team…

Far better than the really cheap and nasty “ps2 2 hdmi” option . i replaced mine with this and let just say the blacks are black and the whites are white . no fuzzy static in the background and the colours are nice ! the sound goes through great as well . if you’re being very nit picky you could say the image can be shakey but these consoles are from the 2000’s it’s just part of the journey . deffo would recommend for the price and what you get.

After ordering multiple low cost PS2 RGB cables on Amazon all unsurprisingly totally useless. I took the decisions to spend out on this and it was worth every penny as it works perfectly and reliably.

I use this this adapter to route to my 58inch 4K LED tv, as a kind of update from the cheap dongle type found here also. Let me just say this adapter is superior in every way. Its not going to make it a higher resolution for you, but in terms of the signal being received its the cleanest solution I have ever used.
If your TV has native upscaling for interlaced and progressive signals then you’re in for a treat.

On a nerdier note, i use this in my streaming setup.
I run this adapter into an MClassic upscaler, and when i force a PS2 game to display in 480p via hacked console, i can get up to 1440p on my monitor which looks absolutely fantastic. Though thats a very fiddly process that wont be for everyone, it proves that even on the extreme hobbyist end, this is a highly recommended piece of kit.

I wasn’t sure about buying this, but OMG!!!what an absolute difference it makes on modern HDTVs. The quality of the picture is superb and it makes the picture bigger with no quality loss. Would 100% recommend this to anyone using a ps2 on a modern tv.

Cable was eay to set up and once installed has handled everything very well, handling 480i, 480p and 576i signals with no discernable lag and looking very good on my modern television. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a solution to hook a PS2 up to new televisions.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the 3rd of these Kaico HDMI adapters I’ve bought. I also have the Dreamcast and OG Xbox versions.
They all work really well and are of good sound construction for the price and are a convenient way to output your old consoles on modern TVs.
Each of the Kaico adapters works slightly differently and offers different output signal options. I find this reassuring as it’s obvious thatthey have spent the time to find the best possible way of outputting/converting the video signal from each console they make a cable for (rather than just repackaging the same low quality HDMI converter for each console as other brands do)

One thing to note is that this cable does not upscale the image of your PS2. It mearly lets you choose from the already available output options and converts that to a clean HDMI output.
So with the PS2 you are limited to RGB/Component (480p / 576i). I leave mine on component setting and it seems to work fine.

The picture is in no way ‘HD’ by today’s standards, but it’s much cleaner and crisper than my previous method which was a RGB SCART cable and a billion times better than the standard ‘red white yellow’ composite AV cables that came supplied with most PS2s.
You’ll probably notice some fuzziness to text etc and cut scenes will generally be of low video quality anyway, but importantly actual game graphics are pretty damn good. Not quite to standard of my now sadly dead backwards compatible fat PS3, but good enough.

(It should be noted that I keep a 720p screen to play my older consoles on, so it’s possible it may not look as pretty on a 1080p or 4k screen.)

    *Edit*
A downfall I have found is that, you can’t play PS1 games on your PS2 through this cable.
I guess without upscaling the output is just too ‘none standard’ for HDMI? Who knows.
Luckily I have a PS3 Slim which does play PS1 games, bit worth noting if you have original Playstation games you wanted to dust off and play on your PS2.

comes with everything needed to work including HDMI cable, son is totally happy having the ability to play some old ps2 games as his tv doesn’t have the connection for it and this just works for hdmi, instructions are straight forward enough, just be aware that it needs 1 of the usb sockets on the PS2 to power i

I pulled my original “fat” PlayStation 2 out of retirement about a year ago and used one of those ubiquitous black boxes to convert S-video from the PlayStation to HDMI. The more I played the more disappointed I was with the results on screen; everything seemed blurry and much less sharp than I remembered. Having tweaked my display settings for the millionth time I decided I’d had enough and that there must a better way to get a decent image. Whilst this cable is double the price of a generic S-video to HDMI box it gives double the results. When I ordered this kit I was skeptical it would give a decent image but as soon as I plugged it in the difference in picture quality was clear. No, the image on my computer monitor isn’t as good I would have had on a CRT screen back in the day, but it’s almost the same. I no longer feel like I have cataracts when playing retro games anyway. The downsides are that the inevitable black borders are a little more intrusive than other solutions and PlayStation 1 games won’t work for me. But I am happy with these small drawbacks as the picture quality is so much better. I’m now off to order the original Xbox equivalent.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought a cheap version of this on eBay.bit didn’t work at all. So I saw this was a lot more than I paid for the one in eBay. But it worked. With the design it means you can still place the ps2 upright. Many other designs neglect this and means the ps2 can only ever be placed horizontally after installatio

A will good product for playing your ps2 on modern TVs only downside is if your tv doesn’t display 240p or 480p you won’t be about to play PSone games

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersI’m big on Retro gaming and have been searching for a good product to allow me to use my Sony Playstation 2 over HDMI connection. This product comes with EVERYTHING you need, right down to a 4K HDMI cable. The instruction manual is one fo the best I have seen and is excellently illustrated and has multiple languages.

By the time I brought the KAICO HDMI ADAPTER for PLAYSTATION 2 I had already purchased 2 previous products for the same purpose. Both of the prior products I purchased suffered 2 major issues, image and audio noise, and the need for the user to have an old CRT TV or a TV with a SCART connection to pre-configure the PS2 before you could use their version of the product (most people don’t have a CRT TV or a SCART connection these days).

Note this device does need USB power (cable supplied). I simply used one of the 2 USB ports on my PS2. You can of course use another source to power the device over USB.

KAICO’s product is a very high quality solution that can instantly be attached to current TV over HDMI and used, without the complications of other products claiming to do the same thing. There is a toggle switch on the adapter for RGB or COMPONENT, 98% of you will have been using RGB so this is how you will need to set the switch in order to get started using the device at a resolution of 240p. Once you have connected your PS2 you can then simply go to the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION of your PS2 and change the setting to YPrPb (component), power off, and then move the toggle switch to the YPrPb setting on the KAICO adapter. After doing this you can enjoy your PS2 in 576i.

I have included extensive my product unbox and review, as available on my YouTube channel, for your viewing pleasure. For me this product is the best I have seen on the market in it’s price point and the best I have used and tested yet. For me it’s top marks, great product and well worth the money I spent.

I bought it to use with Freemcboot and the Mclassic and it worked fairly well. I like that you can switch between Component and RGB for PS2 and PS1. I wish they made a model the can do line doubling on PS2 though.
