This is a great tool for weed removal. I got this to replace one that I broke by trying to use it to pry out a shrub root which was beyond the proper usage for this.

You must buy this. This makes weeding a whole lot easier, simply stick in the dirt and tilt to pop weeds up out of the ground. I don’t dred weeding my flower beds, and no longer labor intensive.
For harder soil, work it around the weed. For large mature weeds with deep root a shovel is best.

Got first weeder as a gift from attending a Master Gardener conference. Used it until the tip broke, but promptly ordered a replacement. Able to use the weeder for long weeding sessions without discomfort to palm of hand. Product design is excellent, though could be improved by replacing aluminum blade with steel, for durability.

Effective weeder uprooter especially for those weeds with deep tap roots–easily helps dislodge the whole weed root.

Egonomics teaching is included in my medical massage programs. I recommend this product for gardeners.

Most awesome weeding and landscaping tool. Bought 2 of these (for free shipping) to replace a similarly design MiracleGro tool that finally broke after many years of use. Very versatile tool for popping roots, edging, gardening, but it really becomes an extension of your hands for so many more things. Love it.

I do a lot of weeding on my hands and knees and this tool is easy on the hands and wrists, while giving great leverage for getting deep-rooted weeds out of our rocky clay yard and loamy gardens as well. The aluminum will break if you try to lever out a big rock, but on the whole they are plenty durable. They do wear down over time. since i haven’t found anything better yet, I keep replacing them as they wear out.

I use it all the time to dig weeds and to plant new small flowers. In comparison to my standing weed puller, I prefer to use the standing weed puller when the soil is really soaked. That being said, my soil is almost never really soaked!

This is a very nice little tool. For some reason, the curved handle isn’t very popular with other hand weeders, but I find it very comfortable and didn’t cause any blisters after a long afternoon of serious weeding. A very handy tool, indeed.

I only have used it a little because since I received this our ground has been frozen. It is winter here. I love the feel of the handle and however you move the trowel your hand and wrist are always straight. This is definitely a good product. I work in landscape maintenance and my hands are giving me issues. These Ergonomic tools were recommended to me by my physical therapist. So far they are good

Haven’t had a chance to use yet due to it being winter and all. Appears to be well made and comfortable to hold. I’m sure this tool will work well when gardening season comes around.

The ergonomic feature of the handle really helps reduce the strain. I was using this tool for 3 hours and felt no pain in my wrist, as opposed to a regular hand shovel. I did encounter a fee very thick Roots and in the process of trying to dog those out, a piece of the tool did chip off, but I’m still very happy with the product.

I used this garden tool to dig up and pull out dandelions and that horrible crab grass (they have such deep & long roots!!) in my front yard. This tool worked PERFECTLY!!! Love it!!

Have had what we call “poinkers” for years and love them but this one is just amazing. A longer blade, that is really strong, saw type edges and can be used as such but makes weeding or planting so much easier. The handle is so comfortable even with my arthritic hands – literally the best I have come across and everyone should have one. No wonder it has won awards – if I could score it 6 stars I would.

Buying a replacement for a hand weeder that we really liked for years and lost, and had difficulty finding a decent replacement. Most weren’t narrow enough to easily go deep, and a couple of the steel ones we bought at the local garden store bent too readily.

This product penetrates, is made of a decent section aluminum, and is really strong and lightweight. The curved handle makes it even better than our old weeder that we lost, because of the ergonomics of pulling the weed and soil back out. I’m probably going to buy a couple more of them.

In the past I had to yank these bulbs out by hand and often left the bulb in the ground when the top broke off. Or, I had to use a regular trowel which dug a way bigger hole than needed and would get into the roots of desired plants next to the “weed”. This tool is fantastic. And fun to use. I’ve offered to remove these pesky garlic plants for neighbors. They are not edible and multiply like crazy. So happy to have found this tool.

I have Ehlers-Danlos and this was surprisingly easy on my wrist. I had read reviews on that but I was still skeptical since even the most ergonomic tools hurt my joints. I get a lot of “Sticker Bushes” in my back yard and this was much better than using a garden trowel. The serrated edges cut through the grass and other roots and really gets right to that tap root.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI am writing this review to give this company their due. I bought this tool in June (writing this in late September). It has made weeding a lot less difficult than it otherwise would be. This tool is like a little metal aardvark snout that plunges deep into the ground adjacent to weed roots and allows you to pry them right up in their entirety. (80’s kid reference: using this sort of feels like playing Super Mario Bros. 2) (Japanese 80’s kid reference: using this sort of feels like playing Doki Doki Panic) After months of using this in some of my admittedly harsh rocky flowerbeds, the last 3″ or so snapped off. I wrote to the company at their provided warranty email address, and I kid you not, less than 72 hours later I received a notice from UPS that a package had been delivered. “Hmm, not expecting anything from UPS, what could this be?” I thought to myself – and right there on my porch was a brand new replacement. Utterly hassle-free – No charge for shipping, no need to ship the damaged tool to them. Amazing response time – this company really stands behind their warranty. So bottom line: amazing tool, honest company. Buy one if you have weeds and intend to do something about it! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

The product is well-made and sturdy. It’s useful for getting weeds out by the roots, but should only be used for weeds with soft roots. No problems with small ailanthus saplings or pokeweed, but It broke while being used to remove a small persimmon sapling. The product came with a tag indicating that it might cause cancer, so I will not be ordering another to replace it. (I would think the warning has to do with the material of the handle, not the metal part).

I like the over-all design. Very light. Ergonomic. Better for me where I’m starting to get an arthritic hand. On the flip-side, the forming of this tool is on the shoddy side, typical of a high volume, cheap product manufacturing. The construction is more of a molding process, not forged for which could have been sturdier and you’ll use steel in the process. This thing should have been priced more cheaper ’cause it’s made in china!

This is a good tool to dig out weeds from your yard. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it can be very difficult to get all of the roots if they don’t grow straight down or too long. I did have some really big dandelions where I heard the root snap when I pulled the dirt up around the leaves. Then when I pulled the dandelion out I saw that the bottom of the riot snapped off. It’ll probably grow back, but at least you couldn’t see if in the yard. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the entire when the next tine I try to remove it. It’s also difficult to pull out weeds where the roots grew to the side because something keep it from growing straight down. You could get a the entire root but you could end up digging a big hole in your yard.

I was able to pull the entire wee out 80%% of the time. I filled 2/3 of a yard waste bag with dandelions and thistles. I would recommend working on the weeks after it rains so it easier to loosen the dirt around the roots. I used a bootleg of water to soften the dirt around a weed if the ground is really dry. I usually loosen the dirt on 2 sides of the weed. If you do it at the 12 and 6 or 9 and 3 positions they weed usually pulled out root and all when you pulled up on it. You might have to loosen the root more on some of the bigger weeds.
The hardest part of tackling a lot of weeks is having to bend down all the times. I was able to fill 2/3 of a yard bag in a couple of hours. I’m not worried about the durability either. I’ve a lot of pressure in the handle and it’s never bent. It is nice and thick and feels very solid. I even used it in the rocky area near the road with no problems.
Overall I’m very pleased with this purchase. I Like pulling out weeds before I mow the lawn or during. I’d much rather do this than use chemicals especially since my kids play in the yard. Radius Garden made a great wedding tool.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersSo, I have thumb & wrist issues that get cortisone. I also have a damaged/pinned ankle that barely bends, and use a cane mainly for balance and bending. So when I saw this, it seemed like it might help with my grip, but that digging the weeds out would still be super tough… Boy was I wrong with the last thought!!

This thing actually feels nice in your hand so the way you can hold the tool isn’t completely horizontal. The curved grip is bigger than expected, so I could choose how/where I wanted to hold it. Then I tried to dig up a large weed, in super dry/dense soil. Omgosh, this thing went into the ground WAY easier than I thought since I can only use one hand to dig and the other on cane for balance. & this is where I also really noticed the ergonomics of the tool. Not only does it cut into the ground without a ton of force, but the handle lets you bend it back pretty easy which raises it up. Some weeds were large and I had to dig around it in about 3 places. The roots come out as well. It was so easy and fascinating that my mom laughed me as I kept saying “wow” moving from weed to weed quickly.

I LOVE this thing. After my first use I came back and ordered the whole set!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI use this hand weeder to remove dandelions and all other weeds. I have 3 of them myself but then I am an avid gardener and have also bought at least a dozen more to give as gifts to garden enthusiast friends or to some of my gardening clients. Everyone that has used it loves it. I have been gardening for over 50 years and this is the best weeder I’ve found on the market!!! I’ve also bought the Radius full sets of gardening tools as well. They all have a wonderful Ergonomic design which never tires my hand out from weeding of using the other implements too. I will keep recommending it to future new friends too. LOVE when I find an exceptional product! I would highly recommned this Radius weeder! You won’t be disappointed.

So glad I picked this up. Easy enviro friendly way to root out weeds. I was using a screwdriver before but this weeder is PERFECT for weeding my lawn. So quick and easy I’m even doing some of my neighbors yard so that my yard is not cross contaminated by dandelions 🙂

I find this gardening tool indenspensable! We live on a piece of property that was backfilled with stones and varying sizes of boulders.
When you go to plant something, after the first 7 to 10 inches of top soil you start running into these boulders and you can’t use a shovel to dig through them because they’re all packed down together so we have found the easiest and fastest way to get them out is with this wonderful tool! Your able to work it in the spaces between the rocks and loosen the rocks up in order to get them out! I’d be lost without this tool!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis tool is amazing! Digging weeds out with a screwdriver is neanderthal technology compared to this little gem. What was once a hit-and-miss, hope-you-got-the-root excavation ordeal, is now nearly a point-and-click breeze.
I don’t understand how such a simple-looking tool is so effective, but it really is. Someone must’ve put some effort into designing this thing, because it truly works amazingly well…even in my crappy, rocky soil.
The tip slips easily into the soil, and usually little effort is required to lever back and pop the offending weed from it’s home, taproot and all.
For bigger or tougher roots, you can either pry a bit in one spot, then pull the tool out and attack from another side, or you can wiggle the handle left-and-right a bit and “saw” through soil and fringe roots, with this tool’s clever scalloped edges.
I’m honestly delighted with this device. I can’t believe what a difference it’s made in weeding!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter discovering what a great job the Radius Garden Root Slayer shovel did digging up roots, went looking for a weeder made the same way, with the same results. Found it. Bought it on the spot. And it works great digging up weeds growing in rock infested walkways. Especially like the curved handle that makes it possible use both hands at the same time. It does twice the work, in half the time, with half the effort. Just like their shovel. A great design.

I love this guy! Great to dig out plants from narrow areas, take out large weeds, and aerate small areas of soil. It cuts through small roots as well. Great for potted plants, bulbs, and annuals in a border. Got a great deal, probably because the handle is purple, but who care about color; its all about function, versatility, and durability.

Unfortunately, a friend who had a large weeding job, broke the tip of my previous Radius hand weeder (green). Don’t know how. She replaced it with a Fiskars hand weeder, but I much prefer the Radius one. So bought another. After several months, it has proven its value.

This is the most useful hand garden tool I now possess. I have heavy clay in my garden and this gets through areas that other hand tools cannot without bending or hurting my hand and wrist.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThanks to previous reviewers, I haven’t used this to pry rocks etc, so it has lasted well. Perfect for deep dandelion roots, blackberry roots, and so on. The curved handle is well designed so I can use my body weight to push straight down into the ground. I go on three sides before extracting weed. The bright color makes it easier to find in the back 40. Has kept our property weed free this year with less work than I thought it would…and easier on my conscience than using herbicides.

UPDATE: We’ve had this weed digger for over a year now, and we still like it — so well, in fact, that we just ordered another one, for when we are both weeding at the same time. Over the past few years we’ve been removing invasives in our back 40 and replacing with native plants. As a result, it has become so inviting back there that weeding is actually kind of pleasant now.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersIf I could only have one garden hand tool – this would be it!
Bought this at a local garden shop 12 yr ago, & just bought more for gifts.

It’s perfect for regular weeding, and rooting dandelions, small starter trees etc.
It penetrates an old layer of mulch easier, and is a great pry bar (within reason)
when weeds are close to edging.

It’s strong, one piece molded aluminum which stands up to quite a lot of pressure.
    > The ergonomic handle is actually comfortable.
    > The round handle is 1 1/4″ dia, with the outside being a semi-soft rubber.
    > The couture shape of the handle lets the hand be at a normal, horizontal angle,
unlike regular tools, where your hand is in an uncomfortable, vertical position.

The over all length is 14 1/2″. With a 6″ supple handle, and 8 3/4″ digging spade.
The tip of the spade is 1″ wide, and at 5″ up is still only 1 1/4″ wide.
That narrowness makes it easy to sink the tool deep, which in turn isn’t as tiring on the hand.

    Photos
Pry the tool against the brick edging for yrs without issue
Old & new tool = The original has been used so much that we’ve worn over 1/4″ off the tip.

Used for years with no damage
